¹ในปีทที่สามแห่งรัชกาลไซรัสกษัตริย์แห่งประเทศเปอร์เซีย มีอยู่สิ่งหนึ่งทรงสำแดงแก่ดาเนียล ผู้ได้ชื่อว่าเบลเทชัสซาร์ และสิ่งนั้นก็จริง แต่เวลาที่กำหนดไว้ก็อีกนาน ท่านเข้าใจสิ่งนั้นและมีความเข้าใจในนิมิตนั้น

¹In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, even a great warfare: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

²ในคราวนั้น ข้าพเจ้าดาเนียลเป็นทุกข์อยู่สามสัปดาห์

²In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three whole weeks.

³ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้รับประทานอาหารอร่อย เนื้อหรือน้ำองุ่นก็มิได้เข้าปากข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้ชโลมน้ำมันตัวเลยตลอดสามสัปดาห์

³I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine into my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, until three whole weeks were fulfilled.

⁴เมื่อวันที่ยี่สิบสี่เดือนต้นข้าพเจ้าอยู่ที่ฝั่งแม่น้ำใหญ่ คือแม่น้ำไทกริส

⁴In the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel,

⁵ข้าพเจ้าแหงนขึ้นมอง ดูเถิด มีชายคนหนึ่งสวมเสื้อผ้าป่าน มีทองคำเนื้อดีเมืองอุฟาสคาดเอวไว้

⁵I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, whose thighs were adorned with pure gold of Uphaz:

⁶ร่างกายของท่านดั่งพลอยเขียว และหน้าของท่านก็เหมือนฟ้าแลบ ดวงตาของท่านก็เหมือนกับคบเปลวเพลิง แขนและเท้าเป็นเงางามเหมือนกับทองสัมฤทธิ์ขัด และเสียงถ้อยคำของท่านเหมือนเสียงมวลชน

⁶his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches, and his arms and his feet like burnished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

⁷และข้าพเจ้าดาเนียลเห็นนิมิตนั้นแต่ผู้เดียว คนที่อยู่กับข้าพเจ้ามิได้เห็นนิมิตนั้น แต่เขาตัวสั่นมากจึงวิ่งไปซ่อนเสีย

⁷I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision; but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.

⁸แล้วข้าพเจ้าอยู่แต่ลำพัง และข้าพเจ้าได้เห็นนิมิตใหญ่ยิ่งนี้ ข้าพเจ้าก็สิ้นเรี่ยวสิ้นแรง หน้าตาสุกใสของข้าพเจ้าก็เปลี่ยนเป็นหน้าซีด ข้าพเจ้าหมดแรง

⁸So I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

⁹แล้วข้าพเจ้าจึงได้ยินเสียงถ้อยคำของท่าน และเมื่อข้าพเจ้าได้ยินเสียงถ้อยคำนั้น ข้าพเจ้าก็ซบหน้าลงสลบอยู่ หน้าของข้าพเจ้าฟุบกับดิน

⁹Yet heard I the voice of his words; and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I fallen into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.

¹⁰และดูเถิด มีมือมาแตะต้องข้าพเจ้า พยุงให้ข้าพเจ้ายันตัวด้วยฝ่ามือและเข่า

¹⁰Behold, a hand touched me, which set me on my knees and on the palms of my hands.

¹¹ท่านกล่าวแก่ข้าพเจ้าว่า "โอ ดาเนียล บุรุษผู้เป็นที่รักอย่างยิ่ง จงเข้าใจถ้อยคำที่เราพูดกับท่าน และยืนตรง เพราะบัดนี้ข้าพเจ้าได้รับใช้ให้มาหาท่าน" ขณะที่ท่านกล่าวคำนี้แก่ข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าก็ยืนสั่นสะท้านอยู่

¹¹He said to me, Daniel, you man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright; for am I now sent to you. When he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling.

¹²แล้วท่านพูดกับข้าพเจ้าว่า "ดาเนียลเอ๋ย อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะตั้งแต่วันแรกที่ท่านได้ตั้งใจจะเข้าใจและถ่อมลงต่อพระพักตร์พระเจ้าของท่านนั้น พระเจ้าทรงฟังถ้อยคำของท่าน และข้าพเจ้ามาด้วยเรื่องถ้อยคำของท่าน

¹²Then he said to me, Don’t be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard: and I have come for your words’ sake.

¹³จ้าวผู้พิทักษ์ราชอาณาจักรเปอร์เซียได้ขัดขวางข้าพเจ้าไว้ถึงยี่สิบเอ็ดวัน แต่ดูเถิด มีคาเอลจ้าวผู้พิทักษ์ชั้นหัวหน้าผู้หนึ่งมาช่วยข้าพเจ้า ข้าพเจ้าจึงยังอยู่ที่นั่นกับกษัตริย์ทั้งหลายของเปอร์เซีย

¹³But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but, behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me: and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

¹⁴บัดนี้ข้าพเจ้ามากระทำให้ท่านเข้าใจถึงสิ่งซึ่งจะตกกับชนชาติของท่านในกาลภายหน้า เพราะนิมิตนั้นยังมีไว้สำหรับวันเวลาอีกเป็นอันมาก"

¹⁴Now I have come to make you understand what shall happen to your people in the latter days; for the vision is yet for many days:

¹⁵เมื่อท่านได้พูดตามถ้อยคำเหล่านี้กับข้าพเจ้าแล้ว ข้าพเจ้าก็ก้มหน้าสู่พื้นดินแล้วก็เป็นใบ้ไป

¹⁵and when he had spoken to me according to these words, I set my face toward the ground, and was mute.

¹⁶และดูเถิด มีท่านผู้หนึ่งสัณฐานคล้ายบุตรทั้งหลายของมนุษย์มาแตะริมฝีปากของข้าพเจ้า แล้วข้าพเจ้าก็อ้าปากขึ้นพูด ข้าพเจ้ากล่าวกับท่านที่ยืนอยู่ข้างกน้าข้าพเจ้าว่า "นายเจ้าข้า ด้วยเหตุนิมิตนั้นความเจ็บปวดจึงเกิดกับข้าพเจ้า แล้วข้าพเจ้าก็หมดแรง

¹⁶Behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said to him who stood before me, my lord, by reason of the vision my sorrows are turned on me, and I retain no strength.

¹⁷ผู้รับใช้ของเจ้านายของข้าพเจ้าจะพูดกับเจ้านายของข้าพเจ้าได้อย่างไร เพราะบัดนี้ไม่มีกำลังเหลืออยู่ในข้าพเจ้าเลย ลมหายใจพรากไปจากข้าพเจ้าแล้ว"

¹⁷For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, immediately there remained no strength in me, neither was there breath left in me.

¹⁸ท่านผู้มีรูปร่างอย่างมนุษย์นั้นได้แตะต้องข้าพเจ้าอีกครั้งหนึ่ง และให้กำลังข้าพเจ้า

¹⁸Then there touched me again one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me.

¹⁹ท่านกล่าวว่า "โอ บุรุษผู้เป็นที่รักอย่างยิ่ง อย่ากลัวเลย สันติภาพจงมีแก่ท่าน จงเข้มแข็ง เออ จงเข้มแข็งเถิด" เมื่อท่านพูดกับข้าพเจ้านั้น ข้าพเจ้ามีกำลังขึ้นและกล่าวว่า "ขอเจ้านายของข้าพเจ้าจงพูดไปเถิด เพราะท่านได้ให้กำลังข้าพเจ้าแล้ว"

¹⁹He said, “Greatly beloved man, don’t be afraid: peace be to you, be strong, yes, be strong.” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened, and said, “Let my lord speak; for you have strengthened me.”

²⁰แล้วท่านจึงกล่าวว่า "ท่านทราบหรือไม่ว่าข้าพเจ้ามาหาท่านทำไม แต่บัดนี้ข้าพเจ้าจะกลับไปต่อสู้กับจ้าวผู้พิทักษ์แห่งเปอร์เซีย และเมื่อข้าพเจ้าเสร็จธุระกับเขาแล้ว ดูเถิด จ้าวผู้พิทักษ์แห่งกรีกจะมา

²⁰Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight with the prince of Persia. When I go forth, behold, the prince of Greece shall come.

²¹แต่ข้าพเจ้าจะบอกท่านตามสิ่งซึ่งบันทึกไว้ในหนังสือแห่งสัจจะ ไม่มีผู้ใดร่วมแรงกับข้าพเจ้าต่อสู้จ้าวเหล่านี้เลย นอกจากมีคาเอล จ้าวผู้พิทักษ์ของท่าน"

²¹But I will tell you that which is inscribed in the writing of truth: and there is none who holds with me against these, but Michael your prince.”
