¹"ส่วนตัวข้าพเจ้านั้น ในปีต้นแห่งรัชกาลดาริอัส คนมีเดีย ข้าพเจ้าเป็นตัวตั้งตัวตีที่ให้กำลังกษัตริย์

¹“As for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him.

²และบัดนี้ ข้าพเจ้าจะสำแดงความจริงให้แก่ท่าน ดูเถิด จะมีกษัตริย์อีกสามองค์ขึ้นมาในเปอร์เซีย และองค์ที่สี่จะร่ำรวยยิ่งกว่าองค์อื่นทั้งหมดเป็นอันมาก เมื่อท่านเข้มแข็งด้วยทรัพย์ร่ำรวยของท่านแล้ว ท่านก็จะปลุกปั่นให้ทุกคนต่อสู้กับราชอาณาจักรกรีก

²Now will I show you the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and when he has grown strong through his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece.

³แล้วจะมีกษัตริย์ที่มีอานุภาพมากขึ้นมา ท่านจะปกครองด้วยราชอำนาจยิ่งใหญ่ และกระทำตามความพอใจของท่านเอง

³A mighty king shall stand up, who shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

⁴และเมื่อท่านขึ้นมาแล้ว ราชอาณาจักรของท่านจะแตกและแบ่งแยกออกไปตามทางลมทั้งสี่แห่งฟ้าสวรรค์ แต่จะไม่ตกอยู่กับทายาทของท่าน และจะไม่มีราชอำนาจอย่างที่ท่านปกครองอยู่ เพราะว่าราชอาณาจักรของท่านจะถูกถอนขึ้น ตกไปเป็นของผู้อื่นนอกเหนือคนเหล่านี้

⁴When he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of the sky, but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others besides these.

⁵แล้วกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้จะเข้มแข็ง แต่เจ้านายของท่านองค์หนึ่งจะเข้มแข็งกว่าท่านและมีอำนาจ และราชอำนาจของท่านจะเป็นราชอำนาจมหึมา

⁵The king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.

⁶ต่อมาอีกหลายปีเขาจะกระทำพันธมิตรกัน และบุตรสาวแห่งกษัตริย์ถิ่นใต้จะมาหากษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือเพื่อกระทำสันติภาพ แต่เธอก็ไม่กระทำให้กำลังแขนของเธอคงอยู่ได้ กษัตริย์และแขนของท่านจะไม่ยั่งยืน เธอจะถูกอายัดไว้ ทั้งผู้ที่นำเธอมา ผู้ที่ให้กำเนิดเธอ และผู้ที่ให้กำลังแก่เธอในกาลนั้น

⁶At the end of years they shall join themselves together; and the daughter of the king of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the strength of her arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm; but she shall be given up, and those who brought her, and he who became the father of her, and he who strengthened her in those times.

⁷จะมีกิ่งจากรากของเธอขึ้นมาแทนที่ของกษัตริย์ ท่านจะยกมาต่อสู้กับกองทัพ และจะเข้าไปในป้อมของกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือ และจะรบกับเขาและจะชนะ

⁷But out of a shoot from her roots shall one stand up in his place, who shall come to the army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail.

⁸ท่านจะขนเอาบรรดาพระพร้อมทั้งพวกเจ้านายของเขา และเครื่องใช้วิเศษที่ทำด้วยเงินและทองคำไปยังอียิปต์ และท่านจะคงอยู่นานกว่ากษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนืออีกหลายปี

⁸Also their gods, with their molten images, and with their goodly vessels of silver and of gold, shall he carry captive into Egypt; and he shall refrain some years from the king of the north.

⁹แล้วกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้จะเข้ามาในเขตกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือ แต่จะกลับไปสู่แผ่นดินของท่านเอง

⁹He shall come into the realm of the king of the south, but he shall return into his own land.

¹⁰แต่บุตรชายทั้งหลายของท่านจะก่อสงครามและชุมนุมกำลังรบเป็นอันมากไว้ และคนหนึ่งจะมาอย่างแน่นอนและไหลท่วมและผ่านไป และจะกลับไปทำสงครามจนถึงป้อมปราการของท่าน

¹⁰His sons shall war, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces, which shall come on, and overflow, and pass through; and they shall return and war, even to his fortress.

¹¹แล้วกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้จะโกรธมาก จะยกออกมาต่อสู้กับท่าน คือกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือ ท่านจะจัดกองทัพเป็นอันมาก แต่พลมากมายนั้นก็จะถูกมอบไว้ในมือของท่าน

¹¹The king of the south shall be moved with anger, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north; and he shall set forth a great multitude, and the multitude shall be given into his hand.

¹²และเมื่อท่านนำกองทัพนั้นไปแล้ว จิตใจของท่านก็จะผยองขึ้น และท่านจะทำลายเสียอีกเป็นหมื่นๆคน แต่ท่านจะไม่รับกำลังเพิ่มขึ้นโดยสิ่งนี้

¹²The multitude shall be lifted up, and his heart shall be exalted; and he shall cast down tens of thousands, but he shall not prevail.

¹³เพราะว่ากษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือจะกลับมาและจะจัดกองทัพเป็นอันมากใหญ่โตกว่าครั้งก่อน ต่อมาอีกหลายปีท่านจะยกกองทัพใหญ่มาพร้อมกับทรัพย์สมบัติมากมาย

¹³The king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former; and he shall come on at the end of the times, even of years, with a great army and with much substance.

¹⁴ในกาลนั้น หลายเหล่าจะยกขึ้นต่อสู้กับกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้ และบรรดานักปล้นแห่งชนชาติของท่านเองก็จะยกตัวเองขึ้นเพื่อจะกระทำให้นิมิตสำเร็จ แต่พวกเขาก็ล้มเหลว

¹⁴In those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the children of the violent among your people shall lift themselves up to establish the vision; but they shall fall.

¹⁵แล้วกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือจะมาล้อมและก่อเชิงเทิน และยึดเมืองที่มีป้อมแข็งแรงได้ และกำลังกองทัพของถิ่นใต้จะสู้ไม่ไหว แม้ว่ากองทัพที่คัดเลือกแล้วก็ยังสู้ไม่ได้ เพราะไม่มีกำลังที่จะยืนหยัดอยู่ได้

¹⁵So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mound, and take a well-fortified city: and the forces of the south shall not stand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to stand.

¹⁶แต่ผู้ที่ยกมาต่อสู้กับท่าน จะกระทำตามความพอใจของท่านเอง จึงไม่มีผู้ใดต่อสู้ท่านได้ และท่านจะยั่งยืนอยู่ในแผ่นดินอันรุ่งโรจน์ ซึ่งจะถูกทำลายโดยมือของท่าน

¹⁶But he who comes against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him; and he shall stand in the glorious land, and in his hand shall be destruction.

¹⁷ท่านจะมุ่งหน้ามาด้วยกำลังทั้งหมดแห่งราชอาณาจักร และท่านจะนำคนเที่ยงตรงไปด้วย แล้วท่านจะกระทำดังนี้ คือท่านจะยกธิดาของพวกผู้หญิงให้กษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้เพื่อให้ทำลายเธอ แต่เธอจะไม่มั่นคงและอำนวยประโยชน์แก่ท่านแต่ประการใด

¹⁷He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and with him equitable conditions; and he shall perform them: and he shall give him the daughter of women, to corrupt her; but she shall not stand, neither be for him.

¹⁸ภายหลังท่านจะมุ่งหน้าไปตามเกาะต่างๆและจะยึดได้เป็นอันมาก แต่แม่ทัพคนหนึ่งจะได้กำจัดความอหังการของท่านนั้นเสีย ความจริงเขาจะเอาความอหังการนั้นมาสนองท่าน

¹⁸After this shall he turn his face to the islands, and shall take many: but a prince shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; yes, moreover, he shall cause his reproach to turn on him.

¹⁹แล้วท่านจะหันหน้ามุ่งตรงไปยังป้อมปราการแห่งแผ่นดินของท่านเอง แต่ท่านก็จะสะดุดและล้มลง หาตัวไม่พบอีกต่อไป

¹⁹Then he shall turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land; but he shall stumble and fall, and shall not be found.

²⁰แล้วจะมีผู้หนึ่งขึ้นมาแทนที่ของท่าน ผู้นี้จะส่งเจ้าพนักงานเก็บส่วยให้ไปตลอดทั่วราชอาณาจักรอันรุ่งโรจน์ แต่ไม่กี่วันเขาก็ประสบหายนะ มิใช่ด้วยความโกรธหรือสงคราม

²⁰Then shall stand up in his place one who shall cause a tax collector to pass through the kingdom to maintain its glory; but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.

²¹จะมีคนน่าเกลียดคนหนึ่งตั้งตัวขึ้นแทนที่โดยไม่มีผู้ใดมอบเกียรติศักดิ์แห่งราชอาณาจักรให้ เขาจะยกเข้ามาอย่างสงบ แล้วชิงเอาราชอาณาจักรนั้นด้วยความสอพลอ

²¹In his place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

²²กองทัพจะถูกกวาดไปด้วยอำนาจของน้ำท่วมต่อหน้าเขาและถูกทำลายเสีย และเจ้าแห่งพันธสัญญาจะถูกทำลายเสียด้วย

²²The overwhelming forces shall be overwhelmed from before him, and shall be broken; yes, also the prince of the covenant.

²³ตั้งแต่เวลาที่กระทำพันธมิตรกับเขา เขาจะประกอบกิจล่อลวงอยู่เสมอ เพราะเขาจะขึ้นมา และเขาจะเข้มแข็งขึ้นด้วยชนชาติเล็กๆ

²³After the treaty made with him he shall work deceitfully; for he shall come up, and shall become strong, with a small people.

²⁴เขาจะยกมาอย่างสงบในส่วนของประเทศที่อุดมที่สุด และเขาจะกระทำสิ่งที่ปู่ทวดหรือบรรพบุรุษของเขาไม่กระทำ เขาจะเอาทรัพย์ที่ปล้นมา ของที่ริบมาได้ และทรัพย์สมบัติมาแจกกัน เขาจะออกอุบายต่อสู้กบที่กำบังเข้มแข็ง แต่ก็ชั่วเวลาหนึ่งเท่านั้น

²⁴In time of security shall he come even on the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and substance: yes, he shall devise his devices against the strongholds, even for a time.

²⁵และเขาจะปลุกปั่นกำลังของเขา และความกล้าหาญของเขาด้วยกองทัพมหึมายกไปสู้กับกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้ และกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้จะทำสงครามด้วยกองทัพเข้มแข็งมหึมายิ่งนัก แต่เขาก็สู้ไม่ได้ เพราะจะมีการปองร้ายเขา

²⁵He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall war in battle with an exceeding great and mighty army; but he shall not stand; for they shall devise devices against him.

²⁶ถึงแม้ว่าผู้ที่ร่วมรับประทานอาหารสูงของเขาก็จะทำลายเขา กองทัพของเขาก็จะถูกกวาดไป ที่ถูกฆ่าฟันล้มตายเสียก็มาก

²⁶Yes, they who eat of his dainties shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow; and many shall fall down slain.

²⁷ส่วนกษัตริย์สององค์นั้น จิตใจของเขาต่างก็คิดปองร้าย เขาจะพูดมุสาร่วมโต๊ะกัน แต่ก็ไม่ได้ผล เพราะวาระสุดท้ายก็จะมาตามเวลากำหนด

²⁷As for both these kings, their hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table: but it shall not prosper; for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

²⁸แล้วกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือก็จะกลับเข้าบ้านเข้าเมืองพร้อมกับทรัพย์สมบัติมากมาย แต่จิตใจก็มุ่งร้ายต่อพันธสัญญาบริสุทธิ์ และเขาจะปฏิบัติงานและกลับเข้าบ้านเข้าเมือง

²⁸Then shall he return into his land with great substance; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do his pleasure, and return to his own land.

²⁹พอถึงเวลากำหนดเขาจะกลับมาที่ถิ่นใต้ แต่ครั้งนี้เหตุการณ์จะไม่เป็นไปอย่างครั้งแรกหรือครั้งต่อไป

²⁹At the time appointed he shall return, and come into the south; but it shall not be in the latter time as it was in the former.

³⁰เพราะว่ากองทัพเรือของเมืองคิทธิมจะมาปะทะกับเขา เขาจึงจะกลัวและกลับไป และจะเกรี้ยวกราดต่อพันธสัญญาบริสุทธิ์ และลงมือปฏิบัติงาน เขาจะหันกลับมาร่วมพันธมิตรกับบรรดาผู้ที่ทิ้งพันธสัญญาบริสุทธิ์

³⁰For ships of Kittim shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and shall return, and have indignation against the holy covenant, and shall do his pleasure: he shall even return, and have regard to those who forsake the holy covenant.

³¹และกองทัพจะยืนหยัดอยู่ฝ่ายเขา พวกเขาจะกระทำให้สถานบริสุทธิ์แห่งพลกำลังเป็นมลทิน และจะให้เลิกเครื่องเผาบูชาประจำวันนั้นเสีย และเขาทั้งหลายจะตั้งสิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนซึ่งกระทำให้เกิดการรกร้างว่างเปล่าขึ้น

³¹Forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual burnt offering , and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate.

³²เขาจะใช้ความสอพลอล่อลวงผู้ที่ละเมิดพันธสัญญา แต่ประชาชาชนผู้รู้จักพระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลายจะยืนมั่นและปฏิบัติงาน

³²Such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he pervert by flatteries; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits .

³³และในหมู่ประชาชนคนเหล่านั้นที่ฉลาดจะกระทำให้คนเป็นอันมากเข้าใจ แม้ว่าเขาจะล้มลงด้วยดาบหรือด้วยเปลวไฟ ด้วยการเป็นเชลย ด้วยถูกปล้นหลายวันเวลา

³³Those who are wise among the people shall instruct many; yet they shall fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil, many days.

³⁴เมื่อพวกเขาล้มลงนั้น เขาจะได้รับความช่วยเหลือเล็กน้อย และจะมีคนมากด้วยกันที่ร่วมเข้ากับความสอพลอ

³⁴Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help; but many shall join themselves to them with flatteries.

³⁵คนที่ฉลาดบางคนจะล้มลงเพื่อถลุงและชำระเขาทั้งหลายให้ขาวสะอาด จนกว่าจะถึงเวลาสุดท้าย เพราะวาระก็จะมาตามเวลากำหนด

³⁵Some of those who are wise shall fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.

³⁶และกษัตริย์จะกระทำตามความพอใจของเขา เขาจะยกตนขึ้นและพองตัวขึ้นเหนือพระทุกองค์ และจะพูดสิ่งที่น่ามหัศจรรย์กล่าวต่อสู้พระเจ้าแห่งพระทั้งหลาย เขาจะเจริญจนพระพิโรธจะครบถ้วน เพราะสิ่งใดที่ทรงกำหนดไว้จะสำเร็จ

³⁶The king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods; and he shall prosper until the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall be done.

³⁷เขาจะไม่เชื่อฟังพระเจ้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของเขา หรือเชื่อฟังผู้ที่ผู้หญิงรัก เขาจะไม่เชื่อพระองค์ใดเลย เพราะเขาจะพองตัวเองเหนือทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง

³⁷Neither shall he regard the gods of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above all.

³⁸แต่ในที่ของเขา เขาจะถวายเกียรติแก่พระของป้อมปราการ พระองค์หนึ่งที่บรรพบุรุษของเขาไม่รู้จัก เขาก็จะให้เกียรติด้วยทองคำและเงิน ด้วยเพชรพลอยต่างๆ ด้วยของขวัญอันมีค่า

³⁸But in his place shall he honor the god of fortresses; and a god whom his fathers didn’t know shall he honor with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

³⁹เขาจะกระทำเช่นนั้นกับพระต่างด้าวที่เขานับถือและพอกพูนสง่าราศีให้ในป้อมปราการส่วนใหญ่ เขาจะแต่งตั้งให้พวกเขาปกครองคนเป็นอันมาก และเขาจะแบ่งแผ่นดินให้เป็นสิ่งตอบแทน

³⁹He shall deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god: whoever acknowledges him he will increase with glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for a price.

⁴⁰พอถึงเวลาวาระสุดท้ายกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นใต้จะมาสู้กับเขา และกษัตริย์แห่งถิ่นเหนือจะพุ่งเข้าใส่ท่านอย่างลมบ้าหมู พร้อมด้วยรถรบและพลม้าและเรือรบเป็นอันมาก เขาจะเข้ามาในประเทศต่างๆ แล้วไหลท่วมและผ่านไป

⁴⁰At the time of the end shall the king of the south contend with him; and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass through.

⁴¹เขาจะเข้ามาในแผ่นดินที่รุ่งโรจน์ และประเทศหลายแห่งจะถูกคว่ำไป แต่คนเหล่านี้จะได้รับการช่วยให้พ้นมือของเขา คือเอโดมและโมอับ และส่วนใหญ่ของคนอัมโมน

⁴¹He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall be delivered out of his hand: Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

⁴²เขาจะยืดมือของเขาออกต่อประเทศต่างๆ และแผ่นดินอียิปต์ก็จะพ้นไปไม่ได้

⁴²He shall stretch forth his hand also on the countries; and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

⁴³เขาจะปกครองทรัพย์สมบัติที่เป็นทองและเงิน และสิ่งประเสริฐทั้งหลายของอียิปต์ คนลิบนีและคนเอธิโอเปียก็จะติดไปด้วย

⁴³But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

⁴⁴แต่ข่าวจากทิศตะวันออกและทิศเหนือจะกระทำให้เขาตกใจ และเขาจะยกออกไปด้วยความเคียดแค้นอย่างยิ่ง ที่จะทำลายและล้างผลาญคนเป็นอันมากเสียให้สิ้นเชิง

⁴⁴But news out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him; and he shall go forth with great fury to destroy and utterly to sweep away many.

⁴⁵และเขาจะปลูกพลับพลาทั้งหลายแห่งตำหนักของเขาระหว่างทะเลในภูเขาบริสุทธิ์อันรุ่งโรจน์ แม้กระนั้นเขาก็ยังพบจุดจบ และไม่มีใครช่วยเขาเลย"

⁴⁵He shall plant the tents of his palace between the sea and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
