¹กษัตรย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้สร้างปฏิมากรรูปหนึ่งด้วยทองคำ สูงหกสิบศอก กว้างหกศอก ทรงตั้งไว้ ณ ที่ราบดูรา ในเมืองบาบิโลน

¹Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits, and its breadth six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

²แล้วกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์รับสั่งให้ประชุมอุปราช ข้าหลวงภาค ผู้ว่าราชการเมือง ผู้พิพากษา นายคลัง มนตรี ตุลาการ และบรรดาเจ้าหน้าที่ทั้งหลายของหัวเมือง ให้เข้ามาในงานฉลองปฏิมากรซึ่งกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้ทรงตั้งขึ้น

²Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the satraps, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

³แล้วอุปราช ข้าหลวงภาค ผู้ว่าราชการเมือง ผู้พิพากษา นายคลัง มนตรี ตุลาการและบรรดาเจ้าหน้าที่ทั้งหลายของหัวเมืองได้เข้ามาประชุมเพื่องานฉลองปฏิมากร ซึ่งกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้ทรงตั้งขึ้น และเขาทั้งหลายก็มายืนอยู่หน้าปฏิมากรซึ่งกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้ทรงตั้งขึ้น

³Then the satraps, the deputies, and the governors, the judges, the treasurers, the counselors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

⁴และโฆษกก็ประกาศเสียงดังว่า "ดูก่อน บรรดาชนชาติ ประชาชาติทั้งปวงและภาษาทั้งหลาย มีพระบัญชาแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า

⁴Then the herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, peoples, nations, and languages,

⁵เมื่อท่านได้ยินเสียงแตรทองเหลืองขนาดเล็ก ปี่ พิณเขาคู่ พิณสี่สาย พิณใหญ่ ปี่ถุง และเครื่องดนตรีทุกชนิด ให้ท่านทั้งหลายกราบลงนมัสการปฏิมากรทองคำ ซึ่งกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้ทรงตั้งไว้

⁵that whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up;

⁶ผู้ใดที่มิได้กราบลงนมัสการก็ให้โยนผู้นั้นทันทีเข้าไปในเตาที่ไฟลุกอยู่"

⁶and whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

⁷เพราะฉะนั้นพอประชาชนได้ยินเสียงแตรทองเหลืองขนาดเล็ก ปี่ พิณเขาคู่ พิณสี่สาย พิณใหญ่และเครื่องดนตรีทุกชนิด บรรดาชนชาติ ประชาชาติทั้งปวงและภาษาทั้งหลาย ก็กราบลงนมัสการปฏิมากรทองคำซึ่งกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้ทรงตั้งไว้

⁷Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

⁸เพราะฉะนั้น ในครั้งนั้นพวกเคลเดียบางคนมาเข้าเฝ้า และฟ้องพวกยิวด้วยใจคิดร้าย

⁸Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and brought accusation against the Jews.

⁹เขาทั้งหลายกราบทูลกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ ขอทรงพระเจริญเป็นนิตย์

⁹They answered Nebuchadnezzar the king, O king, live for ever.

¹⁰ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ พระองค์ทรงออกกฤษฎีกาแล้วว่า ทุกคนผู้ได้ยินเสียงแตรทองเหลืองขนาดเล็ก ปี่ พิณเขาคู่ พิณสี่สาย พิณใหญ่ ปี่ถุง และเครื่องดนตรีทุกชนิด ก็ให้กราบลงนมัสการปฏิมากรทองคำ

¹⁰You, O king, have made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image;

¹¹และผู้ใดที่ไม่กราบลงนมัสการก็ให้โยนเข้าไปในเตาที่ไฟลุกอยู่

¹¹and whoever doesn’t fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

¹²มียิวบางคนที่พระองค์ได้แต่งตั้งให้จัดธุรกิจในเมืองบาบิโลน คือชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโก ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ คนเหล่านี้ไม่เชื่อฟังพระองค์ เขามิได้ปฏิบัติพระของพระองค์ หรือนมัสการปฏิมากรทองคำซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงตั้งไว้"

¹²There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not respected you. They don’t serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.

¹³แล้วเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ก็ทรงกริ้วจัดและเดือดพล่าน มีรับสั่งให้นำตัวชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโกเข้ามา แล้วเขาก็นำคนเหล่านี้เข้ามาเฝ้ากษัตริย์

¹³Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

¹⁴เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ทรงกล่าวแก่เขาว่า "ชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโกเอ๋ย เป็นความจริงหรือไม่ที่เจ้ามิได้ปรนนิบัติพระของเรา หรือนมัสการปฏิมากรทองคำซึ่งเราได้ตั้งไว้

¹⁴Nebuchadnezzar answered them, Is it on purpose, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don’t serve my god, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

¹⁵เอาเถอะ ถ้าเจ้าพร้อมใจแล้ว พอเจ้าได้ยินเสียงแตรทองเหลืองขนาดเล็ก ปี่ พิณเขาคู่ พิณสี่สาย พิณใหญ่ ปี่ถุง และเครื่องดนตรีทุกชนิด เจ้าจงกราบลงนมัสการปฏิมากรซึ่งเราได้สร้างไว้ แต่ถ้าเจ้าไม่นมัสการ จะต้องโยนเจ้าทันทีเข้าไปในเตาที่ไฟลุกอยู่ และผู้ใดเล่าจะเป็นพระเจ้าที่จะช่วยให้เจ้าพ้นจากมือของเราได้"

¹⁵Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to fall down and worship the image which I have made, well: but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god that shall deliver you out of my hands?

¹⁶ชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโกกราบทูลกษัตริย์ว่า "ข้าแต่เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายไม่จำเป็นจะต้องตอบพระองค์ในเรื่องนี้

¹⁶Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

¹⁷ถ้าพระเจ้าของพวกข้าพระองค์ผู้ซึ่งพวกข้าพระองค์ปรนนิบัติ สามารถช่วยพวกข้าพระองค์ให้พ้นจากเตาที่ไฟลุกอยู่ ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ พระองค์ก็จะทรงช่วยพวกข้าพระองค์ให้พ้นพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์

¹⁷If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

¹⁸ถึงแม้ไม่เป็นเช่นนั้น ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ ขอพระองค์ทรงทราบว่า พวกข้าพระองค์ก็ไม่ปรนนิบัติพระของพระองค์ หรือนมัสการปฏิมากรทองคำซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงตั้งขึ้น"

¹⁸But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.

¹⁹แล้วเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ทรงเกรี้ยวกราดยิ่งนัก พระพักตร์ของพระองค์ก็เปลี่ยนไปไม่พอพระทัยชัดรัก เมชาค และเอเบดเนโก พระองค์จึงรับสั่งให้ทำเตาไฟให้ร้อนกว่าที่เคยอีกเจ็ดเท่า

¹⁹Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his appearance was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.

²⁰และพระองค์รับสั่งให้บางคนที่มีกำลังมากที่สุดในกองทัพมามัดชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโก และให้โยนเขาเข้าไปในเตาที่ไฟลุกอยู่

²⁰He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

²¹แล้วคนเหล่านี้ก็ถูกมัดไว้ทั้งเสื้อ กางเกง หมวก และเครื่องแต่งกายอื่นๆ และเขาก็ถูกโยนเข้าไปในเตาที่ไฟลุกอยู่

²¹Then these men were bound in their pants, their tunics, and their mantles, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

²²ฉะนั้นเพราะว่าคำรับสั่งของกษัตริย์นั้นเข้มงวดมากและเตาไฟก็ร้อนจัด เปลวไฟจึงได้ฆ่าคนที่โยนชักรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโก

²²Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

²³และชายทั้งสามนี้ คือชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโกก็ตกลงไปกลางเตาไฟที่ลุกอยู่ทั้งยังมัดอยู่

²³These three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

²⁴ขณะนั้นกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ประหลาดพระทัยทรงลุกขึ้นโดยฉับพลัน พระองค์ตรัสกับองคมนตรีของพระองค์ว่า "เรามัดสามคนโยนเข้าไปกลางไฟมิใช่หรือ" เขาทูลตอบกษัตริย์ว่า "ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ จริงพระเจ้าข้า"

²⁴Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste: he spoke and said to his counselors, Didn’t we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered the king, True, O king.

²⁵พระองค์ตรัสตอบว่า "ดูเถิด เราเห็นสี่คนปล่อยหลุด กำลังเดินอยู่กลางไฟ และเขาทั้งหลายก็ไม่เป็นอันตราย รูปร่างของคนที่สี่นั้นคล้ายคลึงกับพระบุตรของพระเจ้า"

²⁵He answered, Look, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are unharmed; and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of the gods.

²⁶แล้วเนบูคัดเนสซาร์เสด็จมาใกล้ประตูเตาที่ไฟลุกอยู่นั้น ทรงกล่าวว่า "ชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโก ผู้รับใช้ของพระเจ้าสูงสุด จงออกมาเถิด จงมาที่นี่" แล้วชัดรัค เมชาก และเอเบดเนโกก็เดินออกมาจากกลางไฟ

²⁶Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace: he spoke and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you servants of the Most High God, come forth, and come here. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth out of the midst of the fire.

²⁷ฝ่ายอุปราช ข้าหลวงภาค ผู้ว่าราชการเมือง และองคมนตรีของกษัตริย์ก็ห้อมล้อมเข้ามา เห็นว่าไฟไม่มีอำนาจอะไรเหนือร่างกายของคนเหล่านี้ ผมที่ศีรษะของเขาก็ไม่งอ เสื้อก็มิได้เป็นอันตราย ไม่มีกลิ่นไฟที่ตัวเขาทั้งหลายเลย

²⁷The satraps, the deputies, and the governors, and the king’s counselors, being gathered together, saw these men, that the fire had no power on their bodies, nor was the hair of their head singed, neither were their pants changed, nor had the smell of fire passed on them.

²⁸เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ตรัสว่า "สาธุการแด่พระเจ้าของชัดรัก เมชาค และเอเบดเนโก ผู้ได้ส่งทูตสวรรค์ของพระองค์มาช่วยผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ให้พ้น ผู้วางใจในพระองค์ กระทำให้พระบัญชาของกษัตริย์เหลวไป และยอมพลีร่างกายของเขาเสียดีกว่าที่จะปรนนิบัติและนมัสการพระอื่น นอกจากพระเจ้าของเขาเอง

²⁸Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel, and delivered his servants who trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and have yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

²⁹เพราะฉะนั้นเราจึงออกกฤษฎีกาว่า ชนชาติ ประชาชาติ หรือภาษาใดๆที่กล่าวมิดีมิร้ายต่อพระเจ้าของชัดรัก เมชาค และเอเบดเนโก จะถูกหั่นเป็นชิ้นๆ และบ้านเรือนของเขาจะต้องเป็นกองขยะ เพราะว่าไม่มีพระเจ้าอื่นที่จะสามารถช่วยให้พ้นในทางนี้ได้"

²⁹Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak anything evil against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill; because there is no other god who is able to deliver after this sort.

³⁰แล้วกษัตริย์ได้ทรงเลื่อนยศให้ชัดรัค เมชาค และเอเบดเนโกสูงขึ้นอีกในเมืองบาบิโลน

³⁰Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
