¹เรา กษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ ขอประกาศแก่บรรดาชนชาติ ประชาชาติทั้งปวง และภาษาทั้งหลาย ซึ่งอาศัยอยู่บนพิภพทั้งสิ้นว่า สันติสุขจงมีแก่ท่านทั้งหลายอย่างทวีคูณ

¹Nebuchadnezzar the king, to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.

²เราเห็นสมควรที่จะแสดงหมายสำคัญและการมหัศจรรย์ ซึ่งพระเจ้าสูงสุดได้ทรงกระทำแก่เรา

²It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked toward me.

³หมายสำคัญของพระองค์ใหญ่ยิ่งสักเท่าใด การมหัศจรรย์ของพระองค์กอปรด้วยฤทธานุภาพปานใด อาณาจักรของพระองค์เป็นอาณาจักรถาวรเป็นนิตย์ และราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์นั้นดำรงอยู่ทุกชั่วอายุ

³How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.

⁴ตัวเรา คือ เนบูคัดเนสซาร์อยู่เป็นผาสุกในนิเวศของเรา และมีความเจริญอยู่ในวังของเรา

⁴I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace.

⁵เราฝันเห็นเรื่องซึ่งกระทำให้เรากลัว ขณะเมื่อเรานอนอยู่บนที่นอนความคิดและนิมิตอันผุดขึ้นในศีรษะของเราเป็นเหตุให้เราตกใจ

⁵I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

⁶เราจึงออกกฤษฎีกาเรียกนักปราชญ์แห่งบาบิโลนทั้งสิ้นมาหาเราเพื่อให้แก้ความฝันให้แก่เรา

⁶Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream.

⁷พวกโหร พวกหมอดู และคนเคลเดีย และหมอดูฤกษ์ยามก็เข้ามาเฝ้า เราก็เล่าความฝันแก่เขา แต่เขาทั้งหลายแก้ฝันให้เราไม่ได้

⁷Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me its interpretation.

⁸ในที่สุดดาเนียลก็เข้ามาเฝ้าเรา เขามีชื่อว่าเบลเทชัสซาร์ ตามนามพระของเรา เขามีวิญญาณของพระเจ้าผู้บริสุทธิ์ เราก็เล่าความฝันให้เขาฟังว่า

⁸But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and I told the dream before him, saying,

⁹"โอ เบลเทชัสซาร์ หัวหน้าของพวกโหร เพราะเราทราบว่าวิญญาณของพระเจ้าผู้บริสุทธิ์อยู่ในท่าน และไม่มีความล้ำลึกใดๆที่จะให้ท่านแก้ยาก จงบอกนิมิตทั้งหลายในความฝันที่เราได้เห็น และตีความนิมิตเหล่านั้นให้แก่เรา

⁹Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no secret troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation.

¹⁰นิมิตที่ผุดขึ้นในศีรษะของเราเมื่อนอนอยู่บนที่นอน ดูเถิด เราได้เห็นต้นไม้ท่ามกลางพิภพ มันสูงมาก

¹⁰Thus were the visions of my head on my bed: I saw, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and its height was great.

¹¹ต้นไม้เติบโตและแข็งแรง ยอดของมันขึ้นไปถึงฟ้าสวรรค์ และประจักษ์ไปถึงที่สุดปลายพิภพ

¹¹The tree grew, and was strong, and its height reached to the sky, and its sight to the end of all the earth.

¹²ใบก็งดงามและผลก็อุดม และจากต้นไม้นั้น มีอาหารให้แก่ชีวิตทั้งปวง สัตว์ป่าที่ในทุ่งนาอาศัยอยู่ใต้ร่มของมัน และนกในอากาศก็อาศัยอยู่ที่กิ่งก้านของมัน และเนื้อหนังทั้งหลายก็เลี้ยงตนอยู่ด้วยมัน

¹²The leaves of it were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all: the animals of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the sky lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it.

¹³ในนิมิตที่ผุดขึ้นในศีรษะของเราเมื่อเราอยู่บนที่นอน ดูเถิด เราได้เห็นผู้พิทักษ์ องค์บริสุทธิ์ลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์

¹³I saw in the visions of my head on my bed, and behold, a watcher and a holy one came down from the sky.

¹⁴ท่านเปล่งเสียงและพูดดังนี้ว่า `จงฟันต้นไม้และตัดกิ่งทั้งหลายของมันออกเสีย สะบัดให้ใบของมันร่วงออกแล้วให้ผลของมันกระจายไป ให้สัตว์ป่าหนีไปเสียจากใต้ต้น และให้นกหนีไปเสียจากกิ่งของมัน

¹⁴He cried aloud, and said thus, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit: let the animals get away from under it, and the fowls from its branches.

¹⁵แต่จงปล่อยให้ตอรากติดอยู่ในดิน มีแผ่นเหล็กและทองสัมฤทธิ์มัดไว้ ให้อยู่ท่ามกลางหญ้าอ่อนในทุ่งนา ให้เปียกน้ำค้างจากฟ้าสวรรค์ ให้เขามีส่วนอยู่กับสัตว์ป่าในหญ้าที่พื้นดิน

¹⁵Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals in the grass of the earth:

¹⁶ให้จิตใจของเขาเปลี่ยนเสียจากจิตใจมนุษย์ แล้วมอบใจสัตว์ป่าให้แก่เขา และปล่อยให้เป็นอยู่อย่างนั้นจนครบเจ็ดวาระ

¹⁶let his heart be changed from man’s, and let an animal’s heart be given to him; and let seven times pass over him.

¹⁷คำพิพากษานั้นเป็นคำสั่งของผู้พิทักษ์ คำตัดสินนั้นเป็นวาทะขององค์บริสุทธิ์ เพื่อผู้มีชีวิตอยู่จะได้ทราบว่าท่านผู้สูงสุดทรงปกครองอยู่เหนือราชอาณาจักรของมนุษย์ และประทานราชอาณาจักรนั้นแก่ผู้ที่พระองค์จะประทาน และตั้งผู้ที่ด้อยที่สุดให้อยู่เหนือ'

¹⁷The sentence is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones; to the intent that the living may know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will, and sets up over it the lowest of men.

¹⁸ความฝันนี้ตัวเราคือกษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ได้เห็นและ โอ เบลเทชัสซาร์ ท่านจงกล่าวคำแก้ฝันเถิด เพราะพวกนักปราชญ์ทั้งสิ้นแห่งราชอาณาจักรของเราไม่สามารถที่จะให้คำแก้ความฝันแก่เรา แต่ท่านสามารถ เพราะวิญญาณของพระเจ้าผู้บริสุทธิ์อยู่ในตัวท่าน"

¹⁸This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and you, Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, because all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.

¹⁹แล้วดาเนียล ผู้มีชื่อว่าเบลเทชัสซาร์ ก็งงงันอยู่ชั่วโมงหนึ่ง ความคิดของท่านก็กระทำให้ท่านตกใจ กษัตริย์ตรัสว่า "เบลเทชัสซาร์เอ๋ย อย่าให้ความฝันหรือคำแก้ความฝันกระทำให้ท่านตกใจเลย" เบลเทชัสซาร์ทูลตอบว่า "เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์ ขอให้ความฝันนั้นเป็นเรื่องของผู้ที่เกลียดชังพระองค์เถิด และขอให้คำแก้ความฝันนั้นตกแก่ปฏิปักษ์ของพระองค์

¹⁹Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken mute for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered, Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream, or the interpretation, trouble you. Belteshazzar answered, My lord, the dream be to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries.

²⁰ต้นไม้ที่พระองค์ทอดพระเนตร ซึ่งเติบโตขึ้นและแข็งแรง จนยอดขึ้นไปถึงฟ้าสวรรค์ ประจักษ์ไปทั่วพิภพทั้งสิ้น

²⁰The tree that you saw, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached to the sky, and its sight to all the earth;

²¹ใบของมันก็งดงามและผลก็อุดม และจากต้นนั้นมีอาหารให้แก่ชีวิตทั้งปวง สัตว์ป่าในทุ่งนามาพึ่งร่มอยู่ใต้ต้น และนกในอากาศก็มาอาศัยอยู่ที่กิ่ง

²¹whose leaves were beautiful, and its fruit much, and in it was food for all; under which the animals of the field lived, and on whose branches the birds of the sky had their habitation:

²²ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ นี่คือพระองค์เอง ผู้ทรงเจริญและเข้มแข็ง ความยิ่งใหญ่ของพระองค์ได้เจริญ และขึ้นไปถึงฟ้าสวรรค์ และราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์ก็ไปถึงสุดปลายพิภพ

²²it is you, O king, that are grown and become strong; for your greatness is grown, and reaches to the sky, and your dominion to the end of the earth.

²³และที่กษัตริย์ทอดพระเนตรผู้พิทักษ์คือองค์บริสุทธิ์ลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์ และพูดว่า `จงฟันต้นไม้และทำลายเสีย แต่จงปล่อยให้ตอรากติดอยู่ในดิน มีแผ่นเหล็กและทองสัมฤทธิ์มัดไว้ ให้อยู่ท่ามกลางหญ้าอ่อน ในทุ่งนาให้เปียกน้ำค้างจากฟ้าสวรรค์ ให้เขามีส่วนอยู่กับสัตว์ป่า และปล่อยให้อยู่อย่างนั้นจนครบเจ็ดวาระ'

²³Whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from the sky, and saying, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of the sky: and let his portion be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him;

²⁴ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ ต่อไปนี้เป็นคำแก้พระสุบิน เป็นพระราชกฤษฎีกามาจากผู้สูงสุด ซึ่งมาถึงกษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพระองค์

²⁴this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which has come on my lord the king:

²⁵ว่าพระองค์จะทรงถูกขับไล่ไปเสียจากท่ามกลางมนุษย์ และพระองค์จะอยู่กับสัตว์ในทุ่งนา พระองค์จะต้องเสวยหญ้าอย่างกับวัว และจะให้พระองค์เปียกน้ำค้างจากฟ้าสวรรค์ จะเป็นอยู่อย่างนั้นจนครบเจ็ดวาระ จนกว่าพระองค์จะทราบว่า ผู้สูงสุดนั้นทรงปกครองราชอาณาจักรของมนุษย์ และพระองค์จะประทานราชอาณาจักรนั้นแก่ผู้ที่พระองค์ทรงปรารถนา

²⁵that you shall be driven from men, and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field, and you shall be made to eat grass as oxen, and shall be wet with the dew of the sky, and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.

²⁶และที่ทรงมีพระบัญชาให้เหลือตอรากต้นไม้นั้นไว้ก็หมายความว่า ราชอาณาจักรจะยังเป็นของพระองค์ ตั้งแต่พระองค์ทรงทราบว่าสวรรค์ปกครอง

²⁶Whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; your kingdom shall be sure to you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule.

²⁷ข้าแต่กษัตริย์ เพราะฉะนั้นขอทรงรับคำกราบทูลของข้าพระองค์ ขอพระองค์ทรงเลิกทำบาปเสียด้วยการกระทำความชอบธรรม และเลิกทำความชั่วช้าด้วยสำแดงความกรุณาต่อคนจน เผื่อว่าความผาสุกของพระองค์อาจจะยืดยาวไปอีกได้"

²⁷Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your tranquility.

²⁸สิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งสิ้นได้บังเกิดขึ้นแก่กษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์

²⁸All this came on the king Nebuchadnezzar.

²⁹พอสิ้นสิบสองเดือน พระองค์เสด็จดำเนินอยู่ในพระราชวังแห่งราชอาณาจักรบาบิโลน

²⁹At the end of twelve months he was walking in the royal palace of Babylon.

³⁰และกษัตริย์ตรัสว่า "นี่เป็นมหาบาบิโลนมิใช่หรือ ซึ่งเราได้สร้างไว้เพื่อวงศ์วานแห่งอาณาจักรนี้ด้วยอำนาจใหญ่ยิ่งของเรา และเพื่อเป็นศักดิ์ศรีอันสูงส่งของเรา"

³⁰The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?

³¹เมื่อกษัตริย์ตรัสยังไม่ทันขาดพระวาทะ ก็มีเสียงตกลงมาจากฟ้าสวรรค์ว่า "โอ กษัตริย์เนบูคัดเนสซาร์ เราลั่นวาจาไว้กับเจ้าแล้วว่า ราชอาณาจักรได้พรากไปเสียจากเจ้าแล้ว

³¹While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from the sky, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom has departed from you:

³²และเจ้าจะถูกขับไล่ไปจากท่ามกลางมนุษย์ และเจ้าจะอยู่กับสัตว์ในทุ่งนา และเจ้าจะต้องกินหญ้าอย่างกับวัว จะเป็นอยู่อย่างนั้นจนครบเจ็ดวาระ จนกว่าเจ้าจะเรียนรู้ได้ว่า ผู้สูงสุดปกครองอยู่เหนือราชอาณาจักรของมนุษย์ และประทานราชอาณาจักรนั้นแก่ผู้ที่พระองค์ทรงปรารถนา"

³²and you shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field; you shall be made to eat grass as oxen; and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.

³³ในทันใดนั้นเองพระวาทะก็สำเร็จในเรื่องเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ พระองค์ถูกขับไล่ไปจากท่ามกลางมนุษย์ และเสวยหญ้าอย่างกับวัว และพระกายก็เปียกน้ำค้างจากฟ้าสวรรค์ จนพระเกศางอกยาวอย่างกับขนนกอินทรี และพระนขาก็เหมือนเล็บนก

³³The same hour was the thing fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and ate grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of the sky, until his hair was grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.

³⁴เมื่อสิ้นสุดวาระนั้นแล้ว ตัวเราเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ก็แหงนหน้าดูฟ้าสวรรค์และจิตปกติของเราคืนมา และเราก็สาธุการแด่ผู้สูงสุดนั้น และสรรเสริญถวายเกียรติยศแด่พระองค์ผู้ดำรงอยู่เป็นนิตย์ เพราะราชอาณาจักรของพระองค์เป็นราชอาณาจักรนิรันดร์ และอาณาจักรของพระองค์ดำรงอยู่ทุกชั่วอายุ

³⁴At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation.

³⁵สำหรับพระองค์ชาวพิภพทั้งสิ้นนับว่าไม่มีค่า ท่ามกลางกองทัพแห่งสวรรค์นั้นพระองค์ทรงกระทำตามชอบพระทัยพระองค์ และท่ามกลางชาวพิภพด้วย และไม่มีผู้ใดยับยั้งพระหัตถ์ของพระองค์ได้ หรือตรัสถามพระองค์ได้ว่า "พระองค์ทรงกระทำสิ่งใด"

³⁵All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or ask him, What are you doing?

³⁶ในเวลานั้นเอง จิตปกติของเราก็กลับคืนมา ความสูงส่งและราชสง่าราศรีกลับมาสู่เราอีก เพื่อสง่าราศีแห่งราชอาณาจักรของเรา องคมนตรีและข้าราชบริพารของเรากลับมาหาเรา และเราก็รับการสถาปนาไว้ในราชอาณาจักรของเรา ความใหญ่ยิ่งกลับเพิ่มพูนแก่เราขึ้นอีก

³⁶At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought to me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me.

³⁷บัดนี้ตัวเราคือเนบูคัดเนสซาร์ ขอสรรเสริญ ยกย่องและถวายพระเกียรติแด่พระมหากษัตริย์แห่งสวรรค์ เพราะว่าพระราชกิจของพระองค์ก็ถูกต้อง และพระมรรคาของพระองค์ก็เที่ยงธรรม บรรดาผู้ดำเนินอยู่ในความเย่อหยิ่ง พระองค์ก็ทรงสามารถให้ต่ำลง

³⁷Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.
