¹"ถ้าในหมู่พวกท่านเกิดมีผู้พยากรณ์หรือผู้ฝันเห็นเหตุการณ์ขึ้น และสำแดงหมายสำคัญหรือการมหัศจรรย์แก่ท่าน

¹If there arise in the midst of you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give you a sign or a wonder,

²และหมายสำคัญหรือการมหัศจรรย์ซึ่งเขาบอกท่านนั้นสำเร็จจริง ถ้าเขากล่าวว่า `ให้เราติดตามพระอื่นกันเถิด' ซึ่งเป็นพระที่ท่านไม่รู้จัก `และให้เรามาปรนนิบัติพระนั้น'

²and the sign or the wonder come to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, “Let us go after other gods” (which you have not known) “and let us serve them”;

³ท่านอย่าเชื่อฟังคำของผู้พยากรณ์หรือผู้ฝันเห็นเหตุการณ์คนนั้น เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านลองใจท่านดู เพื่อให้ทรงทราบว่า ท่านทั้งหลายรักพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านด้วยสุดจิตสุดใจของท่านหรือไม่

³you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams: for Yahweh your God proves you, to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

⁴ท่านทั้งหลายจงดำเนินตามพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน และยำเกรงพระองค์ และรักษาพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ และเชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระองค์ และท่านจงปรนนิบัติพระองค์ และติดสนิทอยู่กับพระองค์

⁴You shall walk after Yahweh your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and you shall serve him, and cling to him.

⁵แต่ผู้พยากรณ์หรือผู้ฝันเห็นเหตุการณ์คนนั้นต้องมีโทษถึงตาย เพราะว่าเขาได้สั่งสอนให้กบฏต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ผู้ทรงนำท่านออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ และทรงไถ่ท่านออกจากเรือนทาส เขากระทำให้ท่านทิ้งหนทางซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านบัญชาให้ท่านดำเนินตามเสีย ดังนั้นแหละท่านจะต้องล้างความชั่วเช่นนี้จากท่ามกลางท่าน

⁵That prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to draw you aside out of the way which Yahweh your God commanded you to walk in. So you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

⁶ถ้าพี่ชายน้องชายของท่านมารดาเดียวกันกับท่าน หรือบุตรชายบุตรสาวของท่าน หรือภรรยาที่อยู่ในอ้อมอกของท่าน หรือมิตรสหายร่วมใจของท่าน ชักชวนท่านอย่างลับๆว่า `ให้เราไปปรนนิบัติพระอื่นกันเถิด' ซึ่งเป็นพระที่ท่านเองหรือบรรพบุรุษของท่านไม่รู้จัก

⁶If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known, you, nor your fathers;

⁷เป็นพระบางองค์ของชนชาติทั้งหลายซึ่งอยู่รอบท่าน ไม่ว่าใกล้หรือไกล จากสุดปลายแผ่นดินโลกข้างนี้ถึงที่สุดปลายโลกข้างโน้น

⁷of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth;

⁸ท่านอย่ายอมตามหรือเชื่อฟังเขา อย่าให้นัยน์ตาของท่านเมตตาปรานีเขา ท่านอย่าไว้ชีวิตเขา หรืออย่าซ่อนเขาไว้เลย

⁸you shall not consent to him, nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him:

⁹ท่านจงประหารชีวิตเขาเสียเป็นแน่ ท่านควรลงมือก่อนในการทำโทษเขาถึงตาย และต่อไปให้บรรดาประชาชนร่วมมือด้วย

⁹but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

¹⁰ท่านจงเอาหินขว้างเขาให้ตาย เพราะเขาแสวงหาช่องที่จะพาท่านไปจากพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ผู้ทรงพาท่านออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ออกจากเรือนทาส

¹⁰You shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹¹และคนอิสราเอลทั้งปวงจะฟังและยำเกรง ไม่กระทำความชั่วเช่นนี้ท่ามกลางท่านทั้งหลายอีกเลย

¹¹All Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall not do any more such wickedness as this is in the midst of you.

¹²ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินว่า ในหัวเมืองหนึ่งหัวเมืองใดซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านประทานให้ท่านอาศัยอยู่นั้น

¹²If you shall hear tell concerning one of your cities, which Yahweh your God gives you to dwell there, saying,

¹³มีบางคนที่เป็นคนอันธพาลได้ออกไปจากท่ามกลางท่าน ชักชวนชาวเมืองนั้นว่า `ให้เราไปปรนนิบัติพระอื่นกันเถิด' ซึ่งเป็นพระที่ท่านไม่รู้จัก

¹³Certain base fellows are gone out from the midst of you, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known;

¹⁴ท่านทั้งหลายจงสอบถามและอุตสาห์ค้นหาและถามดูอย่างขะมักเขม้น และดูเถิด ถ้าเป็นความจริงและเป็นเรื่องแน่นอนว่า สิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนนั้นมีคนกระทำกันอยู่ในหมู่พวกท่าน

¹⁴then you shall inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is done in the midst of you,

¹⁵ท่านจงฆ่าชาวเมืองนั้นเสียด้วยคมดาบ ทำลายเสียให้สิ้นเชิงด้วยคมดาบ ทั้งคนทั้งหลายที่อาศัยในเมืองนั้นและฝูงสัตว์ด้วย

¹⁵you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein and its livestock, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁶ท่านจงเก็บข้าวของทั้งสิ้นในเมืองนั้นไปกองไว้ที่กลางถนน และเผาเมืองนั้นกับบรรดาข้าวของในเมืองนั้นเสียด้วยไฟ เพื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ให้เมืองนั้นร้างอยู่เป็นนิตย์ อย่าสร้างขึ้นมาใหม่อีกเลย

¹⁶You shall gather all its spoil into the midst of its street, and shall burn with fire the city, and all its spoil every whit, to Yahweh your God: and it shall be a heap forever; it shall not be built again.

¹⁷อย่าให้ของต้องห้ามนั้นมาติดพันมือของท่าน เพื่อว่าพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงหันจากพระพิโรธยิ่งของพระองค์ และทรงสำแดงพระกรุณาคุณต่อท่าน และทรงเมตตาท่าน ให้ท่านทวีมากขึ้น ดังที่พระองค์ปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของท่านนั้น

¹⁷Nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to your hand; that Yahweh may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion on you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers;

¹⁸เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน คือรักษาพระบัญญัติทั้งสิ้นของพระองค์ดังที่ข้าพเจ้าบัญชาท่านไว้ในวันนี้ และกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องตามสายพระเนตรพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน"

¹⁸when you shall listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, to keep all his commandments which I command you this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.
