¹"โอ คนอิสราเอล จงฟังเถิด ท่านกำลังจะข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนไปในวันนี้ เพื่อจะเข้าไปยึดครองประชาชาติที่ใหญ่กว่าและมีกำลังมากกว่าท่าน ทั้งเมืองที่ใหญ่มีกำแพงสูงเทียมฟ้า

¹Hear, Israel: you are to pass over the Jordan this day, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to the sky,

²ประชาชนที่สูงใหญ่ เป็นลูกหลานของคนอานาค ผู้ที่ท่านทั้งหลายรู้จักแล้ว และผู้ที่ท่านได้ยินเขาพูดว่า `ใครจะยืนหยัดต่อสู้กับลูกหลานของอานาคได้'

²a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard say, “Who can stand before the sons of Anak?”

³วันนี้ท่านทั้งหลายจงเข้าใจเถอะว่า ผู้ที่ไปข้างหน้าท่านนั้นคือพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน พระองค์จะทรงทำลายเขาดังเพลิงเผาผลาญและทรงกระทำให้เขาพ่ายแพ้ต่อหน้าท่าน ดังนั้นท่านจะได้ขับไล่เขาออกไป กระทำให้เขาพินาศโดยเร็ว ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงตรัสไว้กับท่านทั้งหลายแล้วนั้น

³Know therefore this day, that Yahweh your God is he who goes over before you as a devouring fire; he will destroy them, and he will bring them down before you: so you shall drive them out, and make them to perish quickly, as Yahweh has spoken to you.

⁴เมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านได้ขับไล่เขาออกไปต่อหน้าท่านทั้งหลายแล้ว ท่านทั้งหลายอย่านึกในใจว่า `เพราะความชอบธรรมของข้าพระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงนำข้ามาให้ยึดครองแผ่นดินนี้' แต่เพราะความชั่วของประชาชาติเหล่านี้ พระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงขับไล่เขาออกไปต่อหน้าท่าน

⁴Don’t say in your heart, after Yahweh your God has thrust them out from before you, saying, “For my righteousness Yahweh has brought me in to possess this land”; because Yahweh drives them out before you because of the wickedness of these nations.

⁵ซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายกำลังเข้าไปยึดครองแผ่นดินนี้นั้น มิใช่เพราะความชอบธรรมของท่านหรือความสัตย์ธรรมในใจของท่าน แต่เป็นเพราะความชั่วของประชาชาตินี้ ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านต้องขับไล่เขาออกเสียต่อหน้าท่านทั้งหลาย และเพื่อว่าพระองค์จะทรงให้เป็นจริงตามพระวจนะซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปฏิญาณต่อบรรพบุรุษของท่าน คือต่ออับราฮัม ต่ออิสอัค และต่อยาโคบ

⁵Not for your righteousness, or for the uprightness of your heart, do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

⁶เพราะฉะนั้นท่านทั้งหลายจงเข้าใจเถิดว่า ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านประทานแผ่นดินดีนี้ให้ท่านยึดครองนั้น มิใช่เพราะความชอบธรรมของท่าน เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายเป็นชนชาติคอแข็ง

⁶Know therefore, that Yahweh your God doesn’t give you this good land to possess it for your righteousness; for you are a stiff-necked people.

⁷จงจำไว้และอย่าลืมเสียว่าพวกท่านได้กระทำให้พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านพิโรธที่ในถิ่นทุรกันดาร ตั้งแต่วันที่ท่านออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ กระทั่งท่านมาถึงที่นี่ ท่านมักกบฏต่อพระเยโฮวาห์อยู่

⁷Remember, don’t forget, how you provoked Yahweh your God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that you went forth out of the land of Egypt, until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against Yahweh.

⁸แม้ว่าที่โฮเรบท่านก็กระทำให้พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพิโรธ และพระเยโฮวาห์ก็ทรงกริ้วมากถึงกับจะทำลายท่านทั้งหลายเสีย

⁸Also in Horeb you provoked Yahweh to wrath, and Yahweh was angry with you to destroy you.

⁹เมื่อข้าพเจ้าขึ้นไปบนภูเขาเพื่อจะรับแผ่นศิลา เป็นแผ่นศิลาพันธสัญญาซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์กระทำไว้กับท่าน ข้าพเจ้าอยู่บนภูเขาสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืน ข้าพเจ้าไม่ได้รับประทานอาหารหรือดื่มน้ำ

⁹When I was gone up onto the mountain to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which Yahweh made with you, then I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.

¹⁰และพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ประทานแผ่นศิลาสองแผ่นที่จารึกด้วยนิ้วพระหัตถ์ของพระเจ้าให้แก่ข้าพเจ้า บนศิลานั้นมีพระวจนะทั้งสิ้นซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสกับท่านทั้งหลายบนภูเขาจากท่ามกลางเพลิงในวันที่ประชุมกันอยู่

¹⁰Yahweh delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them were all the words which Yahweh spoke with you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

¹¹ต่อมาเมื่อสิ้นสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืนแล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์ประทานแผ่นศิลาสองแผ่น เป็นแผ่นศิลาพันธสัญญา

¹¹It came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Yahweh gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.

¹²แล้วพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับข้าพเจ้าว่า `จงลุกขึ้นลงไปจากที่นี่โดยเร็วเถิด เพราะชนชาติของเจ้าซึ่งเจ้านำออกจากอียิปต์ได้หลงกระทำผิด เขาได้หันเสียจากทางซึ่งเราบัญชาเขาไว้นั้นอย่างรวดเร็ว เขาได้หล่อรูปเคารพไว้สำหรับตัวเขาทั้งหลาย'

¹²Yahweh said to me, “Arise, get down quickly from here; for your people whom you have brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.”

¹³ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีกพระเยโฮวาห์ยังตรัสกับข้าพเจ้าว่า `เราได้เห็นชนชาตินี้แล้ว และดูเถิด เขาทั้งหลายเป็นชนชาติคอแข็ง

¹³Furthermore Yahweh spoke to me, saying, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people:

¹⁴ขออย่าทักท้วงเรา ให้เราทำลายเขา และลบชื่อของเขาเสียจากใต้ฟ้า และเราจะตั้งเจ้าให้เป็นประชาชาติที่มีกำลังกว่าและใหญ่กว่าเขา'

¹⁴let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under the sky; and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.”

¹⁵ข้าพเจ้าจึงกลับลงมาจากภูเขา และภูเขานั้นก็มีเพลิงลุกอยู่ และศิลาพันธสัญญาสองแผ่นนั้นก็อยู่ในมือทั้งสองของข้าพเจ้า

¹⁵So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

¹⁶ดูเถิด เมื่อข้าพเจ้ามองดูก็แลเห็นท่านทั้งหลายกระทำบาปต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายแล้ว ท่านทั้งหลายได้หล่อรูปลูกวัวไว้สำหรับท่าน ท่านได้หันจากพระมรรคาซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ได้บัญชาแก่ท่านอย่างรวดเร็ว

¹⁶I looked, and behold, you had sinned against Yahweh your God; you had made yourselves a molten calf: you had turned aside quickly out of the way which Yahweh had commanded you.

¹⁷ข้าพเจ้าจึงยกศิลาทั้งสองแผ่นเหวี่ยงเสียจากมือทั้งสองของข้าพเจ้าและทำศิลาให้แตกต่อหน้าต่อตาของท่านทั้งหลาย

¹⁷I took hold of the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.

¹⁸แล้วข้าพเจ้าก็ทรุดกราบลงต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์อย่างครั้งก่อนสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืน มิได้รับประทานอาหารหรือดื่มน้ำ เพราะเหตุบาปทั้งสิ้นที่ท่านทั้งหลายได้กระทำ คือได้ประพฤติอย่างชั่วช้าในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์ ซึ่งเป็นการยั่วยุให้พระองค์ทรงกริ้วโกรธ

¹⁸I fell down before Yahweh, as at the first, forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water; because of all your sin which you sinned, in doing that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, to provoke him to anger.

¹⁹เพราะข้าพเจ้ากลัวพระพิโรธและความไม่พอพระทัยอย่างรุนแรงซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงมีต่อท่าน พระองค์ก็จะทรงทำลายท่านอยู่แล้ว แต่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงฟังข้าพเจ้าในครั้งนั้นด้วย

¹⁹For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, with which Yahweh was angry against you to destroy you. But Yahweh listened to me that time also.

²⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพิโรธต่ออาโรนมากจะทำลายเขาอยู่แล้ว ในครั้งนั้นข้าพเจ้าก็อธิษฐานเผื่ออาโรนด้วย

²⁰Yahweh was very angry with Aaron to destroy him: and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

²¹แล้วข้าพเจ้าจึงเอาสิ่งที่บาปหนานั้น คือรูปลูกวัวซึ่งท่านสร้างขึ้นนั้นเผาเสียด้วยไฟ แล้วทุบแล้วบดให้เป็นผงละเอียดอย่างกับฝุ่น แล้วข้าพเจ้าก็โยนผงนั้นลงไปในลำธารซึ่งไหลลงมาจากภูเขา

²¹I took your sin, the calf which you had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust: and I cast its dust into the brook that descended out of the mountain.

²²ท่านทั้งหลายได้กระทำให้พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพิโรธที่ทาเบ-ราห์ และที่มัสสาห์ และที่ขิบโรทหัทธาอาวาห์

²²At Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth Hattaavah, you provoked Yahweh to wrath.

²³และเมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงใช้ท่านไปจากคาเดชบารเนีย ตรัสว่า `จงขึ้นไปยึดครองแผ่นดินนั้นซึ่งเราได้ให้แก่เจ้า' และท่านก็กบฏต่อพระบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ไม่ยอมเชื่อพระองค์ หรือเชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระองค์

²³When Yahweh sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “Go up and possess the land which I have given you”; then you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God, and you didn’t believe him, nor listen to his voice.

²⁴ท่านทั้งหลายได้กบฏต่อพระเยโฮวาห์เสมอตั้งแต่วันที่ข้าพเจ้ารู้จักท่านทั้งหลาย

²⁴You have been rebellious against Yahweh from the day that I knew you.

²⁵ข้าพเจ้าจึงกราบลงต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์สี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืนนี้ อย่างข้าพเจ้ากราบลงครั้งก่อนนั้น เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสว่าจะทรงทำลายท่านทั้งหลายเสีย

²⁵So I fell down before Yahweh the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because Yahweh had said he would destroy you.

²⁶ข้าพเจ้าได้อธิษฐานต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า `ข้าแต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้า ขออย่าทรงทำลายประชาชนของพระองค์ และมรดกของพระองค์ ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงไถ่เขาทั้งหลายมาด้วยความยิ่งใหญ่ของพระองค์ เป็นคนที่พระองค์ทรงนำออกมาจากอียิปต์ด้วยพระหัตถ์อันทรงฤทธิ์

²⁶I prayed to Yahweh, and said, “Lord Yahweh, don’t destroy your people and your inheritance, that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

²⁷ขอทรงระลึกถึงบรรดาผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ คืออับราฮัม อิสอัค และยาโคบ ขออย่าทรงใส่พระทัยในความดื้อดึงความชั่วร้าย หรือบาปของชนชาตินี้

²⁷Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; don’t look to the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin,

²⁸กลัวว่าชาวแผ่นดินซึ่งพระองค์ทรงพาข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายจากมานั้นจะว่า เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ไม่สามารถจะพาเขาทั้งหลายเข้าไปในแผ่นดินซึ่งพระองค์ทรงสัญญากับเขาไว้ และเพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงเกลียดชังเขา พระองค์จึงทรงพาเขาออกมาฆ่าเสียในถิ่นทุรกันดาร

²⁸lest the land you brought us out from say, ‘Because Yahweh was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.’

²⁹เพราะว่าเขาทั้งหลายเป็นประชาชนของพระองค์และเป็นมรดกของพระองค์ ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงนำเขาออกมาด้วยเดชานุภาพยิ่งใหญ่และด้วยพระกรที่เหยียดออกของพระองค์'"

²⁹Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.”
