¹"บัญญัติทั้งสิ้นซึ่งข้าพเจ้าบัญชาท่านในวันนี้นั้น ท่านทั้งหลายจงระวังกระทำตาม เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะมีชีวิตและทวีมากขึ้น และเข้าไปยึดครองแผ่นดินซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปฏิญาณกับบรรพบุรุษของท่าน

¹You shall observe to do all the commandment which I command you this day, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers.

²ท่านทั้งหลายจงระลึกถึงทางซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงนำท่านอยู่ในถิ่นทุรกันดารถึงสี่สิบปี เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้ท่านถ่อมใจและทดลองให้ทราบว่าจิตใจของท่านเป็นอย่างไร ดูว่าท่านจะรักษาพระบัญญัติของพระองค์หรือไม่

²You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.

³พระองค์ทรงกระทำให้ท่านถ่อมใจ และปล่อยท่านให้หิว และเลี้ยงท่านด้วยมานา ซึ่งท่านเองหรือบรรพบุรุษของท่านก็ไม่ทราบว่าเป็นอะไร เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้ท่านตระหนักแก่ใจว่า มนุษย์จะบำรุงชีวิตด้วยอาหารสิ่งเดียวก็หามิได้ แต่มนุษย์จะมีชีวิตอยู่ได้ด้วยพระวจนะทุกคำซึ่งออกมาจากพระโอษฐ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์

³He humbled you, and allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh.

⁴ในเวลาสี่สิบปีนั้น เสื้อผ้าของท่านก็ไม่ขาดวิ่น และเท้าของท่านก็ไม่บวม

⁴Your clothing didn’t grow old on you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years.

⁵ท่านทั้งหลายจงพิจารณาอยู่ในใจเถอะว่า พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายทรงตีสอนท่าน เหมือนกับบิดาตีสอนบุตรของตนเช่นกัน

⁵You shall consider in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so Yahweh your God chastens you.

⁶เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจงรักษาพระบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน โดยดำเนินตามพระมรรคาของพระองค์และเกรงกลัวพระองค์

⁶You shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

⁷เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านจะทรงพาท่านเข้าไปในแผ่นดินที่ดี เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีธารน้ำ น้ำพุ และน้ำบาดาลไหลออกมากลางหุบเขาและเนินเขา

⁷For Yahweh your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of springs, and underground water flowing into valleys and hills;

⁸แผ่นดินที่มีข้าวสาลีและข้าวบารลี เถาองุ่น ต้นมะเดื่อ ต้นทับทิม เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีน้ำมันมะกอกเทศและน้ำผึ้ง

⁸a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey;

⁹เป็นแผ่นดินที่ท่านจะรับประทานอาหารอย่างอุดมซึ่งท่านจะไม่ขาดสิ่งใดเลย เป็นแผ่นดินที่ศิลาเป็นเหล็ก และท่านจะขุดทองสัมฤทธิ์ได้จากภูเขา

⁹a land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper.

¹⁰เมื่อท่านได้รับประทานอิ่มหนำแล้ว ท่านจงสรรเสริญพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านในเรื่องแผ่นดินอันดี ซึ่งพระองค์ประทานแก่ท่านนั้น

¹⁰You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land which he has given you.

¹¹ท่านทั้งหลายจงระวังตัวอย่าลืมพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ด้วยไม่รักษาพระบัญญัติ และคำตัดสินและกฎเกณฑ์ของพระองค์ ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าได้บัญชาท่านในวันนี้

¹¹Beware lest you forget Yahweh your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you this day:

¹²เกรงว่าเมื่อท่านได้รับประทานอิ่มหนำ ได้สร้างบ้านเรือนดีๆและได้อาศัยอยู่ในนั้น

¹²lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and lived therein;

¹³และเมื่อฝูงวัวและฝูงแพะแกะของท่านทวีขึ้น มีเงินทองมากขึ้น และบรรดาซึ่งท่านมีอยู่ก็ทวีขึ้น

¹³and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;

¹⁴จิตใจของท่านทั้งหลายจะผยองขึ้น และท่านทั้งหลายก็ลืมพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลาย ผู้ทรงนำท่านทั้งหลายออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ ออกจากเรือนทาส

¹⁴then your heart be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;

¹⁵ผู้ทรงนำท่านมาตลอดถิ่นทุรกันดารใหญ่น่ากลัว ซึ่งมีงูแมวเซาและแมลงป่อง และดินแห้งแล้งไม่มีน้ำ ผู้ทรงประทานน้ำจากหินแข็งให้แก่ท่าน

¹⁵who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where there was no water; who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint;

¹⁶ผู้ทรงเลี้ยงท่านทั้งหลายด้วยมานาในถิ่นทุรกันดาร ซึ่งบรรพบุรุษของท่านไม่ทราบ เพื่อว่าพระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้ท่านถ่อมใจและทดลองท่าน เพื่อกระทำให้เกิดประโยชน์แก่ท่านในบั้นปลาย

¹⁶who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know; that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end:

¹⁷เกรงว่าท่านจะนึกในใจว่า `กำลังและเรี่ยวแรงของข้านำทรัพย์มีค่านี้มาให้'

¹⁷and lest you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.”

¹⁸ท่านทั้งหลายจงจำพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ให้กำลังแก่ท่านที่จะได้ทรัพย์สมบัตินี้ เพื่อว่าพระองค์จะทรงดำรงพันธสัญญาซึ่งพระองค์ทรงกระทำโดยปฏิญาณต่อบรรพบุรุษของท่าน ดังวันนี้

¹⁸But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as at this day.

¹⁹และถ้าท่านลืมพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ไปติดตามพระอื่นและปฏิบัตินมัสการพระเหล่านั้น ข้าพเจ้าขอเตือนท่านจริงๆในวันนี้ว่าท่านจะต้องพินาศเป็นแน่

¹⁹It shall be, if you shall forget Yahweh your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.

²⁰อย่างกับบรรดาประชาชาติซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำให้พินาศไปต่อหน้าท่าน ท่านทั้งหลายจะพินาศอย่างนั้นแหละ เพราะท่านไม่เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลาย"

²⁰As the nations that Yahweh makes to perish before you, so you shall perish; because you wouldn’t listen to the voice of Yahweh your God.
