¹"เมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายจะทรงพาท่านเข้าในแผ่นดินซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายกำลังจะเข้ายึดครอง และกวาดไล่ประชาชาติหลายชาติให้ออกไปพ้นหน้าท่าน คือคนฮิตไทต์ คนเกอร์กาชี คนอาโมไรต์ คนคานาอัน คนเปริสซี คนฮีไวต์ และคนเยบุส เป็นเจ็ดประชาชาติซึ่งใหญ่โตกว่าและมีกำลังมากกว่าท่าน

¹When Yahweh your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, and shall cast out many nations before you, the Hittite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than you;

²และเมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านจะทรงมอบเขาทั้งหลายไว้ต่อหน้าท่าน พวกท่านจะต้องตีเขาให้พ่ายแพ้ไปนั้น และทำลายเขาให้สิ้นทีเดียว อย่าได้กระทำพันธสัญญาใดๆกับเขาเลยและอย่ามีความเมตตาต่อเขาด้วย

²and when Yahweh your God shall deliver them up before you, and you shall strike them; then you shall utterly destroy them: you shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy to them;

³พวกท่านอย่าทำการแต่งงานกับพวกเขา อย่ายกบุตรสาวของท่านให้แก่บุตรชายของเขา หรือรับบุตรสาวของเขามาให้แก่บุตรชายของท่าน

³neither shall you make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give to his son, nor shall you take his daughter for your son.

⁴เพราะว่าพวกเขาจะทำให้บุตรชายของพวกเจ้าหันเหไปจากการติดตามเรา ไปปฏิบัติพระอื่นๆ พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงพระพิโรธต่อท่านทั้งหลายและจะทรงทำลายท่านเสียโดยเร็ว

⁴For he will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so the anger of Yahweh would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.

⁵แต่จงกระทำแก่เขาทั้งหลายอย่างนี้ ท่านทั้งหลายจงทำลายแท่นบูชาของเขาเสีย และหักทำลายเสาศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของเขาเสีย จงโค่นเสารูปเคารพของเขาลงเสีย และเผารูปเคารพแกะสลักของเขาเสียด้วยไฟ

⁵But you shall deal with them like this: you shall break down their altars, and dash their pillars in pieces, and cut down their Asherim, and burn their engraved images with fire.

⁶เพราะว่าพวกท่านเป็นชนชาติบริสุทธิ์สำหรับพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงเลือกท่านออกจากชนชาติทั้งหลายที่อยู่บนพื้นโลก ให้มาเป็นชนชาติในกรรมสิทธิ์ของพระองค์

⁶For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God: Yahweh your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.

⁷ที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงรักและทรงเลือกท่านทั้งหลายนั้น มิใช่เพราะท่านทั้งหลายมีจำนวนมากกว่าประชาชนชาติอื่น ด้วยว่าในบรรดาชนชาติทั้งหลาย ท่านเป็นจำนวนน้อยที่สุด

⁷Yahweh didn’t set his love on you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples:

⁸แต่เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงรักท่านทั้งหลาย และพระองค์ทรงรักษาคำปฏิญาณซึ่งพระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของท่านทั้งหลาย พระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงพาท่านทั้งหลายออกมาด้วยพระหัตถ์อันทรงฤทธิ์ และทรงไถ่ท่านทั้งหลายให้พ้นจากเรือนทาส จากหัตถ์ฟาโรห์กษัตริย์อียิปต์

⁸but because Yahweh loves you, and because he would keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, has Yahweh brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

⁹เหตุฉะนี้พึงทราบเถิดว่า พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านเป็นพระเจ้า เป็นพระเจ้าสัตย์ซื่อ ผู้ทรงรักษาพันธสัญญาและความเมตตาต่อบรรดาผู้ที่รักพระองค์และรักษาพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ถึงพันชั่วอายุคน

⁹Know therefore that Yahweh your God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with them who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations,

¹⁰และทรงตอบแทนผู้ที่เกลียดชังพระองค์ต่อหน้าตัวเขาเองด้วยทรงทำลายเขาเสีย พระองค์จะไม่ทรงลดหย่อนโทษผู้ที่เกลียดชังพระองค์ พระองค์จะทรงตอบแทนต่อหน้าตัวเขาเอง

¹⁰and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him who hates him, he will repay him to his face.

¹¹เหตุฉะนี้พวกท่านจงระวังที่จะกระทำตามพระบัญญัติ กฎเกณฑ์ และคำตัดสินซึ่งข้าพเจ้าได้บัญชาท่านในวันนี้

¹¹You shall therefore keep the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command you this day, to do them.

¹²ต่อมาถ้าท่านทั้งหลายเชื่อฟังคำตัดสินเหล่านี้ รักษาและกระทำตาม พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านจะทรงกระทำตามพันธสัญญาและความเมตตากับท่าน ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของท่าน

¹²It shall happen, because you listen to these ordinances, and keep and do them, that Yahweh your God will keep with you the covenant and the loving kindness which he swore to your fathers:

¹³พระองค์จะทรงรักท่าน อวยพระพรแก่ท่านให้จำเริญยิ่งทวีขึ้น พระองค์จะทรงอำนวยพระพรผู้บังเกิดจากครรภ์ของพวกท่าน และผลแห่งพื้นดินของท่าน ทั้งข้าว น้ำองุ่น และน้ำมันของท่านทั้งหลาย ให้ลูกวัวและลูกแพะแกะของท่านทวีขึ้นในแผ่นดิน ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณแก่บรรพบุรุษของท่านที่จะให้แก่ท่าน

¹³and he will love you, and bless you, and multiply you; he will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your livestock and the young of your flock, in the land which he swore to your fathers to give you.

¹⁴ท่านทั้งหลายจะได้รับพระพรเหนือชนชาติทั้งหลายหมด จะไม่มีชายหรือหญิงเป็นหมันท่ามกลางท่าน หรือในหมู่สัตว์เลี้ยงของท่านด้วย

¹⁴You shall be blessed above all peoples: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your livestock.

¹⁵และพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงยกความเจ็บไข้ทั้งสิ้นไปเสียจากพวกท่าน และโรคร้ายอย่างในอียิปต์ซึ่งท่านได้ทราบนั้น พระองค์จะไม่ทรงให้เกิดแก่ท่าน แต่จะทรงให้เกิดแก่ทุกคนที่เกลียดชังพวกท่าน

¹⁵Yahweh will take away from you all sickness; and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, he will put on you, but will lay them on all those who hate you.

¹⁶พวกท่านจงทำลายชนชาติทั้งหลายซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านจะทรงมอบให้ท่าน อย่าให้นัยน์ตาของท่านมีเมตตาต่อเขาเลย พวกท่านอย่าปฏิบัติพระของเขา เพราะการอย่างนั้นจะเป็นบ่วงดักท่านทั้งหลาย

¹⁶You shall consume all the peoples whom Yahweh your God shall deliver to you; your eye shall not pity them: neither shall you serve their gods; for that will be a snare to you.

¹⁷ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายจะนึกในใจว่า `ประชาชาติเหล่านี้โตกว่าเรา เราจะขับไล่เขาอย่างไรได้'

¹⁷If you shall say in your heart, “These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?”

¹⁸ท่านทั้งหลายอย่ากลัวเขาเลย แต่จงระลึกถึงการที่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านกระทำต่อฟาโรห์และต่อชาวอียิปต์ทั้งสิ้นนั้น

¹⁸you shall not be afraid of them: you shall well remember what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt;

¹⁹การทดลองใหญ่ยิ่งซึ่งนัยน์ตาท่านได้เห็นแล้ว ทั้งหมายสำคัญ การมหัศจรรย์ พระหัตถ์ทรงฤทธิ์ และพระกรที่เหยียดออก ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านได้ทรงใช้พาท่านทั้งหลายออกมา พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายจะทรงกระทำต่อชนชาติทั้งหลายที่ท่านกลัวอย่างนั้นแหละ

¹⁹the great trials which your eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, by which Yahweh your God brought you out: so shall Yahweh your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid.

²⁰ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีกพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายจะทรงใช้ฝูงต่อมาท่ามกลางเขา จนกว่าผู้ที่เหลืออยู่และซ่อนตัวหลบจากท่านจะถูกทำลายสิ้น

²⁰Moreover Yahweh your God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left, and hide themselves, perish from before you.

²¹พวกท่านอย่าวิตกเพราะเขา ด้วยว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านอยู่ท่ามกลางท่าน ทรงเป็นพระเจ้ายิ่งใหญ่ที่น่ากลัว

²¹You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is in the midst of you, a great and awesome God.

²²พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านจะกวาดไล่ประชาชาติเหล่านี้ให้พ้นหน้าท่านทีละเล็กทีละน้อย ท่านอย่ากำจัดเขาเสียทันที กลัวว่าสัตว์ทุ่งจะเพิ่มแก่ท่านขึ้นมากไป

²²Yahweh your God will cast out those nations before you by little and little: you may not consume them at once, lest the animals of the field increase on you.

²³แต่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านจะทรงมอบเขาไว้ให้ท่านทั้งหลาย และจะกระทำให้เขาเกิดโกลาหลใหญ่จนเขาทั้งหลายจะพินาศ

²³But Yahweh your God will deliver them up before you, and will confuse them with a great confusion, until they be destroyed.

²⁴และพระองค์จะทรงมอบกษัตริย์ของเขาไว้ในมือของท่าน และท่านทั้งหลายจะกระทำให้ชื่อของเขาพินาศไปจากใต้ฟ้า จะไม่มีผู้ใดต่อต้านท่านทั้งหลายได้ จนกว่าท่านจะทำลายเขาเสีย

²⁴He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name to perish from under the sky: no man shall be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them.

²⁵ท่านทั้งหลายจงเผารูปแกะสลักอันเป็นรูปพระทั้งหลายของเขาเสียด้วยไฟ ท่านทั้งหลายอย่าปรารถนาอยากได้เงินหรือทองซึ่งปิดรูปพระอยู่นั้น หรือนำไปเป็นของท่าน เกรงว่าท่านจะติดกับดักอยู่ภายในนั้นเอง เพราะว่านั่นเป็นสิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน

²⁵You shall burn the engraved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be snared in it; for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.

²⁶พวกท่านอย่านำสิ่งพึงรังเกียจเข้าไปในเรือนของท่าน กลัวว่าท่านจะเป็นที่ต้องห้ามเหมือนของนั้น พวกท่านจงรังเกียจและเกลียดมันอย่างที่สุด ด้วยเป็นของที่ต้องห้าม"

²⁶You shall not bring an abomination into your house, and become a devoted thing like it. You shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.
