1"ต่อไปนี้เป็นพระบัญญัติ กฎเกณฑ์และคำตัดสินซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายทรงบัญชาให้สอนท่าน เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะได้กระทำตามในแผ่นดินซึ่งท่านจะข้ามไปยึดครองนั้น
1Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you go over to possess it;
2เพื่อว่าพวกท่านจะได้ยำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านโดยรักษากฎเกณฑ์และพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ทั้งสิ้น ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าบัญชาท่าน ทั้งตัวท่านและลูกหลานของท่าน ตลอดวันคืนแห่งชีวิตของท่านเพื่อว่าวันคืนของพวกท่านจะได้ยืนยาว
2that you might fear Yahweh your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.
3โอ คนอิสราเอลทั้งหลาย เหตุฉะนั้นขอจงฟัง และจงระวังที่จะกระทำตามเพื่อพวกท่านจะไปดีมาดี และเพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะทวีมากยิ่งนักในแผ่นดินที่มีน้ำนมและน้ำผึ้งไหลบริบูรณ์ ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของท่านได้ทรงสัญญากับท่าน
3Hear therefore, Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
4โอ คนอิสราเอล จงฟังเถิด พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราทั้งหลายเป็นพระเยโฮวาห์เดียว
4Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is one:
5พวกท่านจงรักพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้เป็นพระเจ้าของท่าน ด้วยสุดจิตสุดใจของท่าน และด้วยสิ้นสุดกำลังของท่าน
5and you shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
6และจงให้ถ้อยคำที่ข้าพเจ้าบัญชาพวกท่านในวันนี้อยู่ในใจของท่าน
6These words, which I command you this day, shall be on your heart;
7และพวกท่านจงอุตส่าห์สอนถ้อยคำเหล่านี้แก่ลูกหลานของท่าน เมื่อท่านนั่งอยู่ในเรือน เดินอยู่ตามทาง และนอนลงหรือลุกขึ้น จงพูดถึงถ้อยคำนี้
7and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
8จงเอาถ้อยคำเหล่านี้พันไว้ที่มือของท่านเป็นหมายสำคัญ และจงเป็นดังเครื่องหมายระหว่างนัยน์ตาของท่าน
8You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes.
9และเขียนไว้ที่เสาประตูเรือน และที่ประตูของท่าน
9You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates.
10เมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านจะพาท่านมาถึงแผ่นดินซึ่งพระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของท่าน คือแก่อับราฮัม อิสอัค และยาโคบ ว่าจะให้แก่ท่าน มีหัวเมืองใหญ่โตและดีซึ่งท่านไม่ได้สร้าง
10It shall be, when Yahweh your God shall bring you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and goodly cities, which you didn’t build,
11และเรือนที่มีของดีเต็ม ซึ่งพวกท่านมิได้สะสมไว้ และบ่อขังน้ำ ที่ท่านมิได้ขุด และสวนองุ่นกับต้นมะกอกเทศ ซึ่งท่านมิได้ปลูกไว้ และเมื่อท่านได้รับประทานก็อิ่มหนำ
11and houses full of all good things, which you didn’t fill, and cisterns dug out, which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you didn’t plant, and you shall eat and be full;
12แล้วจงระวังกลัวว่าพวกท่านจะลืมพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้ทรงพาท่านออกจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ออกจากเรือนทาสนั้น
12then beware lest you forget Yahweh, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
13พวกท่านจงยำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ท่านจงปรนนิบัติพระองค์ และปฏิญาณโดยออกพระนามของพระองค์
13You shall fear Yahweh your God; and you shall serve him, and shall swear by his name.
14ท่านทั้งหลายอย่าติดตามพระอื่น ซึ่งเป็นพระของชนชาติทั้งหลายที่อยู่ล้อมรอบท่าน
14You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you;
15(เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่าน ผู้ทรงสถิตท่ามกลางท่าน เป็นพระเจ้าหวงแหน) กลัวว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของพวกท่านจะทรงพิโรธต่อท่าน และทำลายท่านเสียจากพื้นแผ่นดินโลก
15for Yahweh your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; lest the anger of Yahweh your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.
16อย่าทดลองพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลาย ดังที่ได้ทดลองพระองค์ที่มัสสาห์
16You shall not tempt Yahweh your God, as you tempted him in Massah.
17ท่านทั้งหลายจงอุตส่าห์รักษาพระบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน และพระโอวาทของพระองค์และกฎเกณฑ์ของพระองค์ ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงบัญชาท่านไว้
17You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.
18พวกท่านจงกระทำสิ่งที่ถูกต้องและที่ประเสริฐในสายพระเนตรพระเยโฮวาห์ เพื่อพวกท่านจะมีสวัสดิภาพ และเพื่อท่านจะได้เข้าไปครอบครองแผ่นดินที่ดีซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของท่าน
18You shall do that which is right and good in the sight of Yahweh; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Yahweh swore to your fathers,
19โดยขับไล่ศัตรูทั้งสิ้นของท่านออกไปให้พ้นหน้าพวกท่าน ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาไว้
19to thrust out all your enemies from before you, as Yahweh has spoken.
20เมื่อเวลาต่อไปบุตรชายของท่านจะถามท่านว่า `พระโอวาท กฎเกณฑ์และคำตัดสินซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราทั้งหลาย ได้บัญชาท่านทั้งหลายไว้นั้นมีความหมายว่ากระไร'
20When your son asks you in time to come, saying, “What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh our God has commanded you mean?”
21แล้วท่านจะตอบบุตรชายของท่านว่า `เราเป็นทาสของฟาโรห์อยู่ในอียิปต์ และพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงพาเราออกมาจากอียิปต์ด้วยพระหัตถ์อันทรงฤทธิ์
21then you shall tell your son, “We were Pharaoh’s bondservants in Egypt: and Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;
22และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสำแดงหมายสำคัญและการมหัศจรรย์ทั้งที่ใหญ่โตและที่ร้ายเหนืออียิปต์และเหนือฟาโรห์ ตลอดจนทั้งราชวงศ์ของท่าน ต่อหน้าต่อตาเราทั้งหลาย
22and Yahweh showed great and awesome signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;
23แล้วพระองค์ได้ทรงพาเราออกมาจากที่นั่น เพื่อจะทรงนำเราเข้าไปในแผ่นดิน ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณว่าจะประทานแก่บรรพบุรุษของเรา และประทานแผ่นดินนั้นแก่เรา
23and he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to our fathers.
24พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบัญชาให้เรากระทำตามกฎเกณฑ์เหล่านี้ทั้งสิ้น คือให้ยำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา เพื่อเป็นผลดีแก่เราเสมอ เพื่อพระองค์จะทรงรักษาชีวิตของเราไว้ให้คงอยู่ ดังทุกวันนี้
24Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as at this day.
25ถ้าเราทั้งหลายจะระวังที่จะกระทำตามพระบัญญัติทั้งสิ้นนี้ต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา ดังที่พระองค์ทรงบัญชาเราไว้ ก็จะเป็นความชอบธรรมแก่เราทั้งหลาย'"
25It shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us.”
