¹เหตุฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าผู้ถูกจำจองเพราะเห็นแก่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ขอวิงวอนท่านให้ประพฤติสมกับที่ท่านทั้งหลายถูกเรียกแล้วนั้น

¹I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,

²คือจงมีใจถ่อมลงทุกอย่างและใจอ่อนสุภาพ อดกลั้นไว้นาน และอดทนต่อกันและกันด้วยความรัก

²with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love;

³จงเพียรพยายามเอาสันติสุขผูกมัดความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวแห่งพระวิญญาณ

³being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

⁴มีกายเดียวและมีพระวิญญาณองค์เดียว เหมือนมีความหวังใจอันเดียวที่เนื่องในการที่ทรงเรียกท่าน

⁴There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling;

⁵มีองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าองค์เดียว ความเชื่อเดียว บัพติศมาเดียว

⁵one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

⁶พระเจ้าองค์เดียวผู้เป็นพระบิดาของคนทั้งปวง ผู้ทรงอยู่เหนือคนทั้งปวง และทั่วคนทั้งปวง และในท่านทั้งปวง

⁶one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.

⁷แต่ว่าพระคุณนั้นทรงโปรดประทานแก่เราทุกๆคนตามขนาดที่พระคริสต์ทรงประทานให้

⁷But to each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

⁸เหตุฉะนั้นพระองค์ตรัสไว้แล้วว่า `ครั้นพระองค์เสด็จขึ้นสู่เบื้องสูง พระองค์ทรงนำพวกเชลยไปเป็นเชลยอีก และประทานของประทานแก่มนุษย์'

⁸Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” Psalm 68:18

⁹(ที่กล่าวว่าพระองค์เสด็จขึ้นไปนั้น จะหมายความอย่างอื่นประการใดเล่า นอกจากว่าพระองค์ได้เสด็จลงไปสู่เบื้องต่ำของแผ่นดินโลกก่อนด้วย

⁹Now this, “He ascended,” what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

¹⁰พระองค์ผู้เสด็จลงไปนั้น ก็คือพระองค์ผู้ที่เสด็จขึ้นไปสู่เบื้องสูงเหนือฟ้าสวรรค์ทั้งปวงนั่นเอง เพื่อจะได้ทำให้สิ่งสารพัดสำเร็จ)

¹⁰He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.

¹¹พระองค์จึงให้บางคนเป็นอัครสาวก บางคนเป็นศาสดาพยากรณ์ บางคนเป็นผู้ประกาศข่าวประเสริฐ บางคนเป็นศิษยาภิบาล และอาจารย์

¹¹He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds or, pastors and teachers;

¹²เพื่อเตรียมวิสุทธิชนให้ดีรอบคอบ เพื่อช่วยในการรับใช้ เพื่อเสริมสร้างพระกายของพระคริสต์ให้จำเริญขึ้น

¹²for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ;

¹³จนกว่าเราทุกคนจะบรรลุถึงความเป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกันในความเชื่อและในความรู้ถึงพระบุตรของพระเจ้า จนกว่าเราจะโตเป็นผู้ใหญ่เต็มที่คือเต็มถึงขนาดความไพบูลย์ของพระคริสต์

¹³until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

¹⁴เพื่อเราจะไม่เป็นเด็กอีกต่อไปถูกซัดไปซัดมาและหันไปเหมาด้วยลมปากแห่งคำสั่งสอนทุกอย่าง และด้วยเล่ห์กลของมนุษย์ตามอุบายฉลาดอันเป็นการล่อลวง

¹⁴that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;

¹⁵แต่ให้เราพูดความจริงด้วยใจรักเพื่อจะจำเริญขึ้นทุกอย่างสู่พระองค์ผู้เป็นศีรษะคือพระคริสต์

¹⁵but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ;

¹⁶คือเนื่องจากพระองค์นั้น ร่างกายทั้งสิ้นที่ติดต่อสนิทและผูกพันกันโดยที่ทุกๆข้อต่อได้ช่วยชูกำลังตามขนาดแห่งอวัยวะทุกส่วน ร่างกายนั้นจึงได้จำเริญเติบโตขึ้นเองด้วยความรัก

¹⁶from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.

¹⁷เหตุฉะนั้นข้าพเจ้าจึงขอยืนยันและเป็นพยานในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า ตั้งแต่บัดนี้ เป็นต้นไป ท่านอย่าประพฤติอย่างคนต่างชาติ ที่เขาประพฤติกันนั้นคือมีใจจดจ่ออยู่กับสิ่งที่ไม่มีสาระ

¹⁷This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

¹⁸โดยที่ความเข้าใจของเขามืดมนไปและเขาอยู่ห่างจากชีวิตซึ่งมาจากพระเจ้า เพราะเหตุความโง่ซึ่งอยู่ในตัวเขา อันเนื่องจากใจที่แข็งกระด้างของเขา

¹⁸being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts;

¹⁹เขามีใจปราศจากความสะดุ้งต่อบาป ปล่อยตัวทำการลามก ทำการโสโครกทุกอย่างด้วยความละโมบ

¹⁹who having become callous gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

²⁰แต่ว่าท่านไม่ได้เรียนรู้จักพระคริสต์อย่างนั้น

²⁰But you did not learn Christ that way;

²¹ถ้าแม้ท่านได้ฟังเรื่องพระองค์ และได้รับการสอนโดยพระองค์ตามความจริงซึ่งมีอยู่ในพระเยซูแล้ว

²¹if indeed you heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:

²²ท่านจงทิ้งมนุษย์เก่าของท่านซึ่งคู่กับวิถีชีวิตเดิมนั้นเสีย อันจะเสื่อมเสียไปตามตัณหาอันเป็นที่หลอกลวง

²²that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit;

²³และจงให้จิตวิญญาณของท่านเปลี่ยนใหม่

²³and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

²⁴และให้ท่านสวมมนุษย์ใหม่ซึ่งทรงสร้างขึ้นใหม่ตามแบบอย่างของพระเจ้า ในความชอบธรรมและความบริสุทธิ์ที่แท้จริง

²⁴and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

²⁵เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจงเลิกพูดมุสาเสีย และ`จงต่างคนต่างพูดความจริงกับเพื่อนบ้าน' เพราะว่าเราต่างก็เป็นอวัยวะของกันและกัน

²⁵Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another.

²⁶`โกรธก็โกรธเถิด แต่อย่าทำบาป' อย่าให้ถึงตะวันตกท่านยังโกรธอยู่

²⁶“Be angry, and don’t sin.” Psalm 4:4 Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath,

²⁷และอย่าให้โอกาสแก่พญามาร

²⁷neither give place to the devil.

²⁸คนที่เคยขโมยก็อย่าขโมยอีก แต่จงใช้มือทำงานที่ดีๆกว่า เพื่อจะได้มีอะไรๆแจกให้แก่คนที่ขัดสน

²⁸Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need.

²⁹อย่าให้คำหยาบคายออกมาจากปากท่านเลย แต่จงกล่าวคำที่ดี และเป็นประโยชน์ให้เกิดความจำเริญเพื่อจะได้เป็นคุณแก่คนที่ได้ยินได้ฟัง

²⁹Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.

³⁰และอย่าทำให้พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ของพระเจ้าเสียพระทัย เพราะโดยพระวิญญาณนั้นท่านได้ถูกประทับตราหมายท่านไว้จนถึงวันที่ทรงไถ่ให้รอด

³⁰Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

³¹จงให้ใจขมขื่น และใจขัดเคือง และใจโกรธ และการทะเลาะเถียงกัน และการพูดเสียดสี กับการคิดปองร้ายทุกอย่าง อยู่ห่างไกลจากท่านเถิด

³¹Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice.

³²และท่านจงเมตตาต่อกัน มีใจเอ็นดูต่อกัน และอภัยโทษให้กันเหมือนดังที่พระเจ้าได้ทรงโปรดอภัยโทษให้ท่าน เพราะเห็นแก่พระคริสต์

³²And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
