1เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจงเลียนแบบของพระเจ้า ให้สมกับเป็นบุตรที่รัก
1Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.
2และจงดำเนินชีวิตในความรักเหมือนดังที่พระคริสต์ได้ทรงรักเรา และทรงประทานพระองค์เองเพื่อเราให้เป็นเครื่องถวาย และเครื่องบูชาแด่พระเจ้าเพื่อเป็นกลิ่นสุคนธรสอันหอมหวาน
2Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
3แต่การเอ่ยถึงการล่วงประเวณี การลามกต่างๆและความโลภ อย่าให้มีขึ้นในพวกท่านเลยจะได้สมกับที่ท่านเป็นวิสุทธิชน
3But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;
4ทั้งอย่าพูดหยาบคาย พูดเล่นไม่เป็นเรื่อง และพูดตลกหยาบโลนเกเร ซึ่งเป็นการไม่สมควร แต่ให้ขอบพระคุณดีกว่า
4nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.
5เพราะท่านรู้แน่ว่า คนล่วงประเวณี คนโสโครก คนโลภ ที่เป็นคนไหว้รูปเคารพ จะได้อาณาจักรของพระคริสต์และของพระเจ้าเป็นมรดกก็หามิได้
5Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.
6อย่าให้ผู้ใดล่อลวงท่านด้วยคำที่ไม่มีสาระ เพราะการกระทำเหล่านั้นเอง พระเจ้าจึงทรงลงพระอาชญาแก่บุตรแห่งการไม่เชื่อฟัง
6Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
7เหตุฉะนั้นท่านอย่าคบหาสมาคมกับคนเหล่านั้นเลย
7Therefore don’t be partakers with them.
8เพราะว่าเมื่อก่อนท่านเป็นความมืด แต่บัดนี้ท่านเป็นความสว่างแล้วในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า จงดำเนินชีวิตอย่างลูกของความสว่าง
8For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
9(ด้วยว่าผลของพระวิญญาณคือ ความดีทุกอย่างและความชอบธรรมทั้งมวลและความจริงทั้งสิ้น)
9for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,
10ท่านจงพิสูจน์ดูว่า ทำประการใดจึงจะเป็นที่ชอบพระทัยองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
10proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.
11และอย่าเข้าส่วนกับกิจการของความมืดอันไร้ผล แต่จงติเตียนกิจการเหล่านั้นดีกว่า
11Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
12เพราะว่าแม้แต่จะพูดถึงการเหล่านั้น ซึ่งพวกเขากระทำในที่ลับก็ยังเป็นที่น่าละอาย
12For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.
13แต่สิ่งสารพัดที่ถูกติเตียนแล้ว ก็จะปรากฏแจ้งโดยความสว่าง เพราะว่าทุกๆสิ่งที่ให้ปรากฏแจ้งก็คือความสว่าง
13But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.
14เหตุฉะนั้นพระองค์ตรัสแล้วว่า `คนที่หลับอยู่จงตื่นขึ้นและจงฟื้นขึ้นมาจากความตาย และพระคริสต์จะทรงส่องสว่างแก่ท่าน'
14Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
15เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจงระมัดระวังในการดำเนินชีวิตให้ดี อย่าให้เหมือนคนไร้ปัญญา แต่ให้เหมือนคนมีปัญญา
15Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise;
16จงฉวยโอกาสเพราะว่าทุกวันนี้เป็นกาลที่ชั่ว
16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17เหตุฉะนั้นอย่าเป็นคนโง่เขลา แต่จงเข้าใจน้ำพระทัยขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่าเป็นอย่างไร
17Therefore don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18และอย่าเมาเหล้าองุ่นซึ่งจะทำให้เสียคน แต่จงประกอบด้วยพระวิญญาณ
18Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
19จงปราศรัยกันด้วยเพลงสดุดี เพลงนมัสการและเพลงฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณ คือร้องเพลงสรรเสริญและสดุดีจากใจของท่านถวายองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
19speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing, and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20จงขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าคือพระบิดาสำหรับสิ่งสารพัดเสมอ ในพระนามพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา
20giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father;
21จงยอมฟังกันและกันด้วยความเกรงกลัวพระเจ้า
21subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.
22ฝ่ายภรรยาจงยอมฟังสามีของตนเหมือนยอมฟังองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
22Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23เพราะว่าสามีเป็นศีรษะของภรรยา เหมือนพระคริสต์ทรงเป็นศีรษะของคริสตจักร และพระองค์ทรงเป็นพระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของกายนั้น
23For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.
24เหตุฉะนั้นคริสตจักรยอมฟังพระคริสต์ฉันใด ภรรยาก็ควรยอมฟังสามีทุกประการฉันนั้น
24But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.
25ฝ่ายสามีก็จงรักภรรยาของตน เหมือนอย่างที่พระคริสต์ทรงรักคริสตจักร และทรงประทานพระองค์เองเพื่อคริสตจักร
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it;
26เพื่อพระองค์จะได้ทรงแยกตั้งไว้ และชำระคริสตจักรนั้นให้บริสุทธิ์โดยการล้างด้วยน้ำโดยพระวจนะ
26that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
27เพื่อพระองค์จะได้ทรงมอบคริสตจักรที่มีสง่าราศีแด่พระองค์เอง ไม่มีจุดด่างพร้อย ริ้วรอย หรือมลทินใดๆเลย แต่บริสุทธิ์ปราศจากตำหนิ
27that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28เช่นนั้นแหละ สามีจึงควรจะรักภรรยาของตนเหมือนรักกายของตนเอง ผู้ที่รักภรรยาของตนก็รักตนเอง
28Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
29เพราะว่าไม่มีผู้ใดเกลียดชังเนื้อหนังของตนเอง มีแต่เลี้ยงดูและทนุถนอม เหมือนองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงกระทำแก่คริสตจักร
29For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly;
30เพราะว่าเราเป็นอวัยวะแห่งพระกายของพระองค์ แห่งเนื้อหนังของพระองค์ และแห่งกระดูกของพระองค์
30because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.
31`เพราะเหตุนี้ผู้ชายจะจากบิดามารดาของเขา จะไปผูกพันอยู่กับภรรยา และเขาทั้งสองจะเป็นเนื้ออันเดียวกัน'
31“For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24
32ข้อนี้เป็นข้อลึกลับที่สำคัญมาก แต่ว่าข้าพเจ้าพูดถึงพระคริสต์กับคริสตจักร
32This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly.
33ถึงอย่างไรก็ดี ท่านทุกคนจงต่างก็รักภรรยาของตนเหมือนรักตนเอง และภรรยาก็จงยำเกรงสามีของตน
33Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
