¹ฝ่ายบุตรจงนบนอบเชื่อฟังบิดามารดาของตนในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า เพราะกระทำอย่างนั้นเป็นการถูก

¹Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

²`จงให้เกียรติแก่บิดามารดาของเจ้า' นี่เป็นพระบัญญัติข้อแรกที่มีพระสัญญาไว้ด้วย

²“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise:

³`เพื่อเจ้าจะอยู่เย็นเป็นสุข และมีอายุยืนนานที่แผ่นดินโลก'

³“that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.” Deuteronomy 5:16

⁴ฝ่ายท่านผู้เป็นบิดาอย่ายั่วบุตรของตนให้เกิดโทสะ แต่จงอบรมบุตรด้วยการสั่งสอนและการตักเตือนตามหลักขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

⁴You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

⁵ฝ่ายพวกทาสจงเชื่อฟังผู้ที่เป็นนายฝ่ายเนื้อหนังด้วยใจเกรงกลัวจนตัวสั่น ด้วยน้ำใสใจจริงเหมือนกระทำแก่พระคริสต์

⁵Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ;

⁶ไม่เหมือนอย่างคนที่ทำแต่ต่อหน้า อย่างคนที่ทำให้ชอบใจคน แต่จงทำเหมือนอย่างทาสของพระคริสต์คือกระทำตามชอบพระทัยพระเจ้าด้วยความเต็มใจ

⁶not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

⁷จงปรนนิบัตินายด้วยจิตใจชื่นบาน เหมือนกับปรนนิบัติองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า ไม่ใช่ปรนนิบัติมนุษย์

⁷with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men;

⁸เพราะท่านรู้อยู่แล้วว่าผู้ใดกระทำความดีประการใด ผู้นั้นก็จะได้รับบำเหน็จอย่างนั้นจากองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าอีก ไม่ว่าเขาจะเป็นทาสหรือเป็นไทย

⁸knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.

⁹ฝ่ายนายจงกระทำต่อทาสในทำนองเดียวกัน คืออย่าขู่เข็ญเขา เพราะท่านก็รู้แล้วว่านายของท่านทรงประทับอยู่ในสวรรค์ และพระองค์ไม่ทรงเลือกหน้าผู้ใดเลย

⁹You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

¹⁰พี่น้องทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้า สุดท้ายนี้ขอท่านจงมีกำลังขึ้นในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และในฤทธิ์เดชอันมหันต์ของพระองค์

¹⁰Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.

¹¹จงสวมยุทธภัณฑ์ทั้งชุดของพระเจ้าเพื่อจะต่อต้านยุทธอุบายของพญามารได้

¹¹Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

¹²เพราะว่าเราไม่ได้ต่อสู้กับเนื้อหนังและเลือดแต่ต่อสู้กับเทพผู้ครอง ศักดิเทพ เทพผู้ครองพิภพในโมหะความมืดแห่งโลกนี้ ต่อสู้กับเหล่าวิญญาณที่ชั่วในสถานฟ้าอากาศ

¹²For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

¹³เหตุฉะนั้นจงรับยุทธภัณฑ์ทั้งชุดของพระเจ้าไว้ เพื่อท่านจะได้ต่อต้านในวันอันชั่วร้ายนั้นและเมื่อเสร็จแล้วจะยืนมั่นได้

¹³Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.

¹⁴เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจงยืนมั่น เอาความจริงคาดเอว เอาความชอบธรรมเป็นทับทรวงเครื่องป้องกันอก

¹⁴Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

¹⁵และเอาข่าวประเสริฐแห่งสันติสุข ซึ่งเป็นเหตุให้เกิดความพรั่งพร้อมมาสวมเป็นรองเท้า

¹⁵and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace;

¹⁶และพร้อมกับสิ่งทั้งหมดนี้ จงเอาความเชื่อเป็นโล่ ด้วยโล่นั้นท่านจะได้ดับลูกศรเพลิงของผู้ชั่วร้ายนั้นเสีย

¹⁶above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

¹⁷จงเอาความรอดเป็นหมวกเหล็กป้องกันศีรษะและจงถือพระแสงของพระวิญญาณ คือพระวจนะของพระเจ้า

¹⁷And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word from Greek rhema, which means spoken word of God;

¹⁸จงอธิษฐานวิงวอนทุกอย่างและจงขอโดยพระวิญญาณทุกเวลา ทั้งนี้จงระวังตัวด้วยความเพียรทุกอย่าง จงอธิษฐานเพื่อวิสุทธิชนทุกคน

¹⁸with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints:

¹⁹และอธิษฐานเพื่อข้าพเจ้าด้วย เพื่อจะทรงประทานให้ข้าพเจ้ามีคำพูดและเกิดใจกล้าประกาศถึงข้อลึกลับแห่งข่าวประเสริฐได้

¹⁹on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News,

²⁰เพราะข่าวประเสริฐนี้เองทำให้ข้าพเจ้าเป็นทูตผู้ต้องติดโซ่อยู่ เพื่อข้าพเจ้าจะเล่าข่าวประเสริฐด้วยใจกล้าตามที่ข้าพเจ้าควรจะกล่าว

²⁰for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

²¹แต่เพื่อให้ท่านได้รู้เหตุการณ์ทั้งปวงของข้าพเจ้าว่า ข้าพเจ้าเป็นอยู่อย่างไร ทีคิกัส ซึ่งเป็นน้องที่รักและเป็นผู้รับใช้อันสัตย์ซื่อในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า จะได้บอกท่านให้ทราบถึงเหตุการณ์ทั้งปวง

²¹But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things;

²²ข้าพเจ้าให้ผู้นี้ไปหาท่าน ก็เพราะเหตุนี้เอง คือให้ท่านได้ทราบถึงเหตุการณ์ทั้งปวงของเรา และเพื่อให้เขาหนุนน้ำใจของท่าน

²²whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts.

²³ขอให้พวกพี่น้องได้รับสันติสุขและความรักโดยความเชื่อมาจากพระเจ้าพระบิดาและจากพระเยซูคริสต์เจ้า

²³Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
