¹Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ; To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers or, superintendents, or bishops and servants Or, deacons :

²ขอให้พระคุณและสันติสุขจากพระเจ้าพระบิดาของเราและจากพระเยซูคริสต์เจ้า จงดำรงอยู่กับท่านเถิด

²Grace to you, and peace from God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

³ข้าพเจ้าระลึกถึงท่านเมื่อใด ข้าพเจ้าก็ขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าของข้าพเจ้าทุกครั้ง

³I thank my God whenever I remember you,

⁴และทุกเวลาที่ข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานเพื่อท่านทุกคน ข้าพเจ้าก็ทูลขอด้วยความยินดี

⁴always in every request of mine on behalf of you all making my requests with joy,

⁵เพราะเหตุที่ท่านทั้งหลายมีส่วนในข่าวประเสริฐด้วยกัน ตั้งแต่วันแรกมาจนกระทั่งบัดนี้

⁵for your partnership The word translated “partnership” (koinonia) also means “fellowship” and “sharing.” in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;

⁶ข้าพเจ้าแน่ใจในสิ่งนี้ว่า พระองค์ผู้ทรงตั้งต้นการดีไว้ในพวกท่านแล้ว จะทรงกระทำให้สำเร็จจนถึงวันแห่งพระเยซูคริสต์

⁶being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

⁷การที่ข้าพเจ้าคิดอย่างนั้นเนื่องด้วยท่านทั้งหลายก็สมควรแล้ว เพราะว่าข้าพเจ้ามีท่านในใจของข้าพเจ้า ท่านทั้งหลายได้รับส่วนในพระคุณด้วยกันกับข้าพเจ้า ในการที่ข้าพเจ้าถูกจำจอง และในการกล่าวแก้ และหนุนให้ข่าวประเสริฐนั้นตั้งมั่นคงอยู่

⁷It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.

⁸เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงเป็นพยานของข้าพเจ้าว่า ข้าพเจ้าเป็นห่วงท่านทั้งหลายเพียงไรตามพระทัยเมตตาของพระเยซูคริสต์

⁸For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

⁹และข้าพเจ้าอธิษฐานขอให้ความรักของท่านจำเริญยิ่งๆขึ้นในความรู้และในวิจารณญาณทุกอย่าง

⁹This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment;

¹⁰เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะสังเกตได้ว่าสิ่งใดประเสริฐที่สุด และเพื่อท่านจะได้เป็นคนซื่อสัตย์ และไม่เป็นที่ติได้ จนถึงวันของพระคริสต์

¹⁰so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ;

¹¹จะได้เป็นผู้ที่บริบูรณ์ด้วยผลของความชอบธรรม ซึ่งเกิดขึ้นโดยพระเยซูคริสต์ เพื่อถวายพระเกียรติและความสรรเสริญแด่พระเจ้า

¹¹being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

¹²Now I desire to have you know, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News;

¹³จนการที่ข้าพเจ้าถูกพันธนาการเพราะพระคริสต์นั้น ก็ปรากฏทั่วตึกนั้นและทั่วสถานที่แห่งอื่นๆทั้งสิ้น

¹³so that it became evident to the whole palace or, praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ;

¹⁴และพี่น้องมากมายในองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าที่ได้เกิดความเชื่อมั่นเนื่องด้วยเครื่องพันธนาการทั้งหลายของข้าพเจ้า และพวกเขาก็มีใจกล้าขึ้นที่จะกล่าวพระวจนะนั้นโดยปราศจากความกลัว

¹⁴and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.

¹⁵Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.

¹⁶ฝ่ายหนึ่งประกาศพระคริสต์ด้วยการชิงดีชิงเด่นกัน ไม่ใช่ด้วยความจริงใจ จงใจจะเพิ่มความทุกข์ยากให้แก่เครื่องพันธนาการของข้าพเจ้า

¹⁶The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;

¹⁷แต่ฝ่ายหนึ่งประกาศด้วยใจรัก โดยรู้แล้วว่าทรงตั้งข้าพเจ้าไว้ป้องกันข่าวประเสริฐนั้นไว้

¹⁷but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News.

¹⁸ถ้าเช่นนั้นจะแปลกอะไร แม้เขาจะประกาศด้วยประการใดก็ตาม จะเป็นด้วยการแกล้งทำก็ดี หรือด้วยใจจริงก็ดี แต่เขาก็ได้ประกาศพระคริสต์ ในการนี้ทำให้ข้าพเจ้ามีความยินดี และจะมีความชื่นชมยินดีต่อไปด้วย

¹⁸What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.

¹⁹เพราะข้าพเจ้ารู้ว่า โดยคำอธิษฐานของท่าน และโดยการช่วยเหลือของพระวิญญาณแห่งพระเยซูคริสต์นี้ จะเป็นเหตุให้ข้าพเจ้ารับการช่วยให้พ้น

¹⁹For I know that this will turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

²⁰เพราะว่าเป็นความมุ่งมาดปรารถนาและความหวังของข้าพเจ้าว่า ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่ได้รับความละอายใดๆเลย แต่เมื่อก่อนทุกครั้งมีใจกล้าเสมอฉันใด บัดนี้ก็ขอให้เป็นเช่นเดียวกันฉันนั้น พระคริสต์จะได้ทรงรับเกียรติในร่างกายของข้าพเจ้าเสมอ แม้จะโดยชีวิตหรือโดยความตาย

²⁰according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

²¹เพราะว่าสำหรับข้าพเจ้านั้น การมีชีวิตอยู่ก็เพื่อพระคริสต์ และการตายก็ได้กำไร

²¹For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

²²ถ้าข้าพเจ้ายังจะมีชีวิตอยู่ในร่างกาย ข้าพเจ้าก็จะทำงานให้เกิดผล แต่ข้าพเจ้าบอกไม่ได้ว่าจะเลือกฝ่ายไหนดี

²²But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’t know what I will choose.

²³ข้าพเจ้าลังเลใจอยู่ในระหว่างสองฝ่ายนี้ คือว่า ข้าพเจ้ามีความปรารถนาที่จะจากไปเพื่ออยู่กับพระคริสต์ ซึ่งประเสริฐกว่ามากนัก

²³But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

²⁴แต่การที่ข้าพเจ้ายังมีชีวิตอยู่ในร่างกายนี้ ก็มีความจำเป็นสำหรับพวกท่านมากกว่า

²⁴Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

²⁵เมื่อข้าพเจ้าแน่ใจอย่างนี้แล้ว ข้าพเจ้าก็ทราบว่าข้าพเจ้าจะยังอยู่ และคงอยู่กับท่านทั้งหลายเพื่อให้ท่านจำเริญขึ้นและชื่นชมยินดีในความเชื่อ

²⁵Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,

²⁶เพื่อความปลาบปลื้มของท่านจะมากยิ่งขึ้นในพระเยซูคริสต์เนื่องด้วยข้าพเจ้า เพราะข้าพเจ้าจะมาหาท่านอีก

²⁶that your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

²⁷ขอแต่เพียงให้ท่านดำเนินชีวิตให้สมกับข่าวประเสริฐของพระคริสต์ เพื่อว่าแม้ข้าพเจ้าจะมาหาท่านหรือไม่ก็ตาม ข้าพเจ้าก็จะได้รู้ข่าวของท่านว่า ท่านตั้งมั่นคงอยู่ เป็นน้ำหนึ่งใจเดียวกัน ต่อสู้เหมือนอย่างเป็นคนเดียวเพื่อความเชื่อแห่งข่าวประเสริฐนั้น

²⁷Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

²⁸และไม่เกรงกลัวผู้ที่ขัดขวางท่านแต่ประการใดเลย เมื่อเป็นเช่นนี้ก็จะเป็นที่ประจักษ์แก่เขาว่า พวกเขาจะถึงซึ่งความพินาศ แต่พวกท่านก็จะถึงซึ่งความรอด และการนั้นมาจากพระเจ้า

²⁸and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

²⁹เพราะว่าได้ทรงโปรดแก่ท่านเพราะเห็นแก่พระคริสต์ มิใช่ให้ท่านเชื่อถือในพระองค์เท่านั้น แต่ให้ท่านทนความทุกข์ยากเพราะเห็นแก่พระองค์ด้วย

²⁹Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf,

³⁰คือให้ท่านต้องต่อสู้เช่นเดียวกับที่ท่านได้เห็นข้าพเจ้าต่อสู้ และซึ่งท่านได้ยินว่าข้าพเจ้ากำลังสู้อยู่ในขณะนี้

³⁰having the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear is in me.
