¹ในวันนั้นกษัตริย์อาหสุเอรัสพระราชทานวงศ์วานของฮามานศัตรูของพวกยิวแก่พระราชินีเอสเธอร์ โมรเดคัยก็เข้าเฝ้ากษัตริย์ เพราะพระนางเอสเธอร์ได้ทูลว่าท่านเป็นอะไรกับพระนาง

¹On that day, King Ahasuerus gave the house of Haman, the Jews’ enemy, to Esther the queen. Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was to her.

²กษัตริย์จึงถอดพระธำมรงค์ตรา ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงเอามาจากฮามาน พระราชทานให้โมรเดคัย พระนางเอสเธอร์ก็ทรงตั้งโมรเดคัยเป็นใหญ่เหนือวงศ์วานของฮามาน

²The king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

³แล้วพระนางเอสเธอร์กราบทูลกษัตริย์อีก พระนางกราบลงที่พระบาทของพระองค์และวิงวอนพระองค์ด้วยน้ำพระเนตร ขอให้แผนการร้ายของฮามาน คนอากัก และการปองร้ายซึ่งท่านได้คิดขึ้นต่อพวกยิวนั้นพ้นไปเสีย

³Esther spoke yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and begged him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

⁴กษัตริย์จึงทรงยื่นธารพระกรทองคำแก่พระนางเอสเธอร์ พระนางเอสเธอร์ก็ทรงลุกขึ้นประทับยืนเฝ้ากษัตริย์

⁴Then the king held out to Esther the golden scepter. So Esther arose, and stood before the king.

⁵พระนางทูลว่า "ถ้าเป็นที่พอพระทัยกษัตริย์ และถ้าหม่อมฉันเป็นที่โปรดปรานในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์ ถ้าสิ่งนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ถูกต้องต่อพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ และหม่อมฉันเป็นที่พอพระทัยในสายพระเนตรของพระองค์ ขอทรงให้มีพระอักษรรับสั่งให้กลับความในจดหมายซึ่งฮามาน คนอากัก บุตรชายฮัมเมดาธาได้คิดขึ้น และเขียนเพื่อทำลายพวกยิวที่อยู่ในมณฑลทั้งสิ้นของกษัตริย์

⁵She said, “If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and the thing seem right to the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces.

⁶เพราะหม่อมฉันจะอดทนดูภัยพิบัติมาถึงชาติของหม่อมฉันอย่างไรได้ หม่อมฉันจะทนดูการทำลายญาติพี่น้องของหม่อมฉันอย่างไรได้"

⁶For how can I endure to see the evil that would come to my people? How can I endure to see the destruction of my relatives?”

⁷กษัตริย์อาหสุเอรัสจึงตรัสกับพระราชินีเอสเธอร์และแก่โมรเดคัยคนยิวว่า "ดูเถิด เรามอบวงศ์วานของฮามานแก่พระนางเอสเธอร์แล้ว และเขาก็แขวนมันบนตะแลงแกง เพราะมันจะทำอันตรายแก่พวกยิว

⁷Then King Ahasuerus said to Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, “See, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged on the gallows, because he laid his hand on the Jews.

⁸ท่านจะเขียนตามที่ท่านพอใจเกี่ยวกับเรื่องยิวในนามของกษัตริย์ และประทับตราด้วยพระธำมรงค์ เพราะว่ากฤษฎีกาที่เขียนในนามของกษัตริย์และประทับตราด้วยพระธำมรงค์จะเปลี่ยนกลับไม่ได้"

⁸Write also to the Jews, as it pleases you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the king’s ring; for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may not be reversed by any man.”

⁹แล้วพระองค์ทรงเรียกราชอาลักษณ์เข้ามาในเวลานั้นในเดือนที่สามซึ่งเป็นเดือนสิวัน ณ วันที่ยี่สิบสาม และให้เขียนกฤษฎีกาตามที่โมรเดคัยบัญชาทุกอย่างเกี่ยวกับพวกยิว ถึงบรรดาสมุหเทศาภิบาล และผู้ว่าราชการ และเจ้าหน้าที่ของมณฑล ตั้งแต่อินเดียถึงเอธิโอเปีย ร้อยยีสิบเจ็ดมณฑล ไปถึงทุกมณฑลเป็นอักขระของมณฑลนั้น และถึงชนทุกชาติเป็นภาษาของเขา และถึงพวกยิวเป็นอักขระและในภาษาของเขา

⁹Then the king’s scribes were called at that time, in the third month Sivan, on the twenty-third day of the month; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the satraps, and the governors and princes of the provinces which are from India to Ethiopia, one hundred twenty-seven provinces, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, and to the Jews in their writing, and in their language.

¹⁰และท่านเขียนในพระนามของกษัตริย์อาหสุเอรัสและประทับตราพระธำมรงค์ของกษัตริย์ และส่งจดหมายนั้นไปทางผู้เดินข่าวขึ้นม้าเร็ว และผู้ขี่ล่อ อูฐและม้าอาชาไนยหนุ่ม

¹⁰He wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent letters by courier on horseback, riding on royal horses that were bread from swift steeds.

¹¹ตามจดหมายเหล่านี้กษัตริย์ทรงอนุญาตให้พวกยิวผู้อยู่ในทุกเมืองชุมนุมกันและป้องกันชีวิตของตน ให้ทำลาย ให้สังหารและให้ล้างผลาญกำลังพลใดๆของประชาชนหรือมณฑลใดๆซึ่งจะมาทำร้าย ทั้งเด็กและผู้หญิง และปล้นเอาข้าวของของเขา

¹¹In those letters, the king granted the Jews who were in every city to gather themselves together, and to defend their life, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to plunder their possessions,

¹²ในวันเดียวตลอดทั่วทุกมณฑลของกษัตริย์อาหสุเอรัส คือวันที่สิบสาม เดือนที่สิบสอง ซึ่งเป็นเดือนอาดาร์

¹²on one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

¹³สำเนาของหนังสือที่เขียนนั้นจะต้องเป็นกฤษฎีกาในทุกมณฑล และออกโดยการป่าวร้องแก่ชนชาติทั้งปวง พวกยิวจะต้องพร้อมกันในวันนั้นแก้แค้นศัตรูของตน

¹³A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that the Jews should be ready for that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

¹⁴คนเดินข่าวซึ่งขี่ล่อกับอูฐจึงรีบเร่งขับไปตามพระบัญชาของกษัตริย์ และกฤษฎีกานั้นออกในสุสาปราสาท

¹⁴So the couriers who rode on royal horses went out, hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. The decree was given out in the citadel of Susa.

¹⁵เมื่อโมรเดคัยออกไปพ้นพระพักตร์กษัตริย์ สวมฉลองพระองค์สีฟ้าและสีขาว พร้อมกับมงกุฎทองคำใหญ่และเสื้อคลุมผ้าป่านเนื้อละเอียดสีม่วง ฝ่ายชาวนครสุสาก็โห่ร้องเปรมปรีดิ์

¹⁵Mordecai went out of the presence of the king in royal clothing of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple; and the city of Susa shouted and was glad.

¹⁶พวกยิวมีผ่องใส ความยินดี ชื่นบานและเกียรติ

¹⁶The Jews had light, gladness, joy, and honor.

¹⁷ทุกมณฑลทุกเมือง ไม่ว่าที่ใดที่พระบัญชาของกษัตริย์และกฤษฎีกาของพระองค์มาถึง ก็มีความยินดีและความชื่นบานท่ามกลางพวกยิว มีการเลี้ยงและวันรื่นเริง คนเป็นอันมากมาจากชนชาติของประเทศก็ประกาศตัวเป็นพวกยิว เพราะความกลัวพวกยิวมาครอบงำเขา

¹⁷In every province, and in every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness, joy, a feast, and a good day. Many from among the peoples of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews was fallen on them.
