¹พวกผู้ใหญ่ของอิสราเอลบางคนมาหาข้าพเจ้า และมานั่งอยู่หน้าข้าพเจ้า

¹Then came certain of the elders of Israel to me, and sat before me.

²และพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาถึงข้าพเจ้าว่า

²The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

³"บุตรแห่งมนุษย์เอ๋ย คนเหล่านี้ได้ยึดเอารูปเคารพของเขาไว้ในใจ และวางสิ่งที่สะดุดให้ทำความชั่วช้าไว้ข้างหน้าเขา ควรที่เราจะยอมตัวให้เขาถามเราหรือ

³Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

⁴เพราะฉะนั้นจงพูดกับเขาและกล่าวแก่เขาว่า องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า คนใดในวงศ์วานอิสราเอลเอารูปเคารพของเขาไว้ในใจ และวางสิ่งที่สะดุดให้ทำความชั่วช้าไว้ข้างหน้าเขาและยังมาหาผู้พยากรณ์ เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์จะตอบเขาเองด้วยเรื่องรูปเคารพมากมายของเขานั้น

⁴Therefore speak to them, and tell them, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet; I Yahweh will answer him therein according to the multitude of his idols;

⁵เพื่อเราจะได้ยึดจิตใจของวงศ์วานอิสราเอล ผู้เหินห่างไปจากเราทุกคนด้วยเรื่องรูปเคารพของเขา

⁵that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

⁶เพราะฉะนั้นจงกล่าวแก่วงศ์วานอิสราเอลว่า องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า จงกลับใจและหันกลับจากรูปเคารพของเจ้าเสีย และจงหันหน้าของเจ้าเสียจากบรรดาสิ่งที่น่าสะอิดสะเอียนของเจ้า

⁶Therefore tell the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Return, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

⁷เพราะว่าคนใดในวงศ์วานอิสราเอล หรือคนต่างด้าวคนใดที่อาศัยอยู่ในอิสราเอล ผู้ซึ่งแยกตัวเขาจากเรา ยึดเอารูปเคารพของเขาไว้ในใจของเขา และวางสิ่งที่สะดุดให้ทำความชั่วช้าไว้ตรงหน้าของเขา แล้วยังจะมาหาผู้พยากรณ์เพื่อขอถามเขาเกี่ยวกับเรา เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์จะตอบเขาเอง

⁷For everyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live in Israel, who separates himself from me, and takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire for himself of me; I Yahweh will answer him by myself:

⁸และเราจะมุ่งหน้าของเราต่อสู้คนนั้น เราจะทำให้เขาเป็นหมายสำคัญและเป็นคำภาษิต และจะตัดเขาออกเสียจากท่ามกลางประชาชนของเรา และเจ้าจะทราบว่าเราคือพระเยโฮวาห์

⁸and I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

⁹และถ้าผู้พยากรณ์ถูกหลอกลวงกล่าวคำหนึ่งคำใด เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ลวงผู้พยากรณ์คนนั้น และเราจะเหยียดมือของเราออกต่อสู้เขา และจะทำลายเขาเสียจากท่ามกลางอิสราเอลประชาชนของเรา

⁹If the prophet is deceived and speak a word, I, Yahweh, have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand on him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

¹⁰เขาทั้งหลายจะต้องทนรับโทษเพราะความชั่วช้าของเขา โทษของผู้พยากรณ์และโทษของผู้ขอถามจะเหมือนกัน

¹⁰They shall bear their iniquity: the iniquity of the prophet shall be even as the iniquity of him who seeks him;

¹¹เพื่อว่าวงศ์วานอิสราเอลจะไม่หลงเจิ่นไปจากเราอีก หรือไม่กระทำตัวให้มลทินด้วยการละเมิดทั้งหลายของตนอีก แต่เขาทั้งหลายจะเป็นประชาชนของเรา และเราจะเป็นพระเจ้าของเขา องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้"

¹¹that the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither defile themselves any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, says the Lord Yahweh.

¹²และพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์มาถึงข้าพเจ้าอีกว่า

¹²The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

¹³"บุตรแห่งมนุษย์เอ๋ย เมื่อแผ่นดินกระทำบาปต่อเราโดยประพฤติละเมิดอย่างน่าเศร้าใจ เราก็จะเหยียดมือของเราออกเหนือแผ่นดินนั้น และจะทำลายอาหารหลักเสีย และจะส่งการกันดารอาหารมาเหนือแผ่นดินนั้น และจะตัดมนุษย์และสัตว์ออกเสียจากแผ่นดินนั้น

¹³Son of man, when a land sins against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand on it, and break the staff of its bread, and send famine on it, and cut off from it man and animal;

¹⁴ถึงแม้ว่ามนุษย์ทั้งสามนี้ คือ โนอาห์ ดาเนียล และโยบ อยู่ในแผ่นดินนั้น เขาก็จะเอาแต่ชีวิตของตนให้พ้นเท่านั้น ออกมาด้วยความชอบธรรมของเขา องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้

¹⁴though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, says the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁵ถ้าเรากระทำให้สัตว์ร้ายทั้งหลายผ่านแผ่นดินนั้น และพวกมันทำให้แผ่นดินเสียไป เพื่อให้เป็นที่รกร้าง จนไม่มีผู้ใดผ่านเข้าไปได้เพราะสัตว์ร้ายนั้น

¹⁵If I cause evil animals to pass through the land, and they ravage it, and it be made desolate, so that no man may pass through because of the animals;

¹⁶องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสว่า เรามีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด แม้ว่าบุรุษทั้งสามอยู่ในแผ่นดินนั้น เขาทั้งหลายจะช่วยบุตรชายหญิงให้รอดพ้นไม่ได้ เฉพาะตัวเขาเองจะรอดพ้นไปได้ แต่แผ่นดินนั้นจะรกร้างเสีย

¹⁶though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only should be delivered, but the land should be desolate.

¹⁷หรือถ้าเรานำดาบมาเหนือแผ่นดินนั้น และกล่าวว่า `ดาบเอ๋ย จงผ่านแผ่นดินนั้นไปโดยตลอด' เพื่อเราจะตัดมนุษย์และสัตว์ออกเสียจากแผ่นดินนั้น

¹⁷Or if I bring a sword on that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off from it man and animal;

¹⁸องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสว่า แม้บุรุษทั้งสามจะอยู่ในนั้น เรามีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด เขาทั้งหลายจะช่วยบุตรทั้งชายหญิงให้รอดพ้นไม่ได้ เฉพาะตัวเขาเองจะรอดพ้นไปได้

¹⁸though these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, they should deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only should be delivered themselves.

¹⁹หรือถ้าเราส่งโรคระบาดเข้ามาในแผ่นดินนั้น และเทความเดือดดาลของเราออกเหนือเมืองนั้นด้วยโลหิต เพื่อตัดมนุษย์และสัตว์ออกเสียจากแผ่นดินนั้น

¹⁹Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath on it in blood, to cut off from it man and animal;

²⁰ถึงแม้ว่า โนอาห์ ดาเนียลและโยบอยู่ในแผ่นดินนั้น องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสว่า เรามีชีวิตอยู่แน่ฉันใด เขาทั้งหลายจะช่วยบุตรทั้งชายหญิงให้รอดพ้นไม่ได้ เขาจะช่วยเฉพาะชีวิตของเขาให้รอดพ้นได้ด้วยความชอบธรรมของเขา

²⁰though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, they should deliver neither son nor daughter; they should but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

²¹เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า จะรุนแรงยิ่งกว่านั้นสักเท่าใด เมื่อเราส่งการพิพากษาอันร้ายกาจทั้งสี่ประการของเรามาเหนือกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม คือดาบ การกันดารอาหาร สัตว์ร้ายและโรคระบาด เพื่อตัดมนุษย์และสัตว์ออกเสียจากเมืองนั้น

²¹For thus says the Lord Yahweh: How much more when I send my four severe judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the evil animals, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and animal!

²²ดูเถิด แม้จะมีคนรอดตายเหลืออยู่ในนครนั้น นำเอาบุตรชายและบุตรสาวทั้งหลายของเขาออกมา ดูเถิด เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายออกมาหาเจ้า เจ้าจะได้เห็นทางและการกระทำของเขา เจ้าจะเบาใจในเรื่องการร้าย ซึ่งเราได้นำมาเหนือเยรูซาเล็ม คือบรรดาสิ่งที่เราได้นำมาเหนือนครนั้น

²²Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be carried forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth to you, and you shall see their way and their doings; and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought on it.

²³คนเหล่านั้นจะทำให้เจ้าเบาใจ เมื่อเจ้าได้เห็นทางและการกระทำทั้งหลายของเขาแล้ว และเจ้าจะทราบว่า เรามิได้กระทำบรรดาสิ่งที่เราได้กระทำไว้แล้วในนครนั้นด้วยปราศจากเหตุผล องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสดังนี้แหละ"

²³They shall comfort you, when you see their way and their doings; and you shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, says the Lord Yahweh.
