1แล้วอิสอัคก็เรียกยาโคบมาอวยพรให้ และกำชับเขาว่า "เจ้าอย่าแต่งงานกับหญิงคานาอัน
1Isaac called Jacob, blessed him, and commanded him, “You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
2แต่ลุกขึ้นไปเมืองปัดดานอารัม ไปยังบ้านเบธูเอลบิดาของแม่เจ้า ที่นั่นเจ้าจงแต่งงานกับบุตรสาวคนหนึ่งของลาบันพี่ชายแม่ของเจ้า
2Arise, go to Paddan Aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother’s father. Take a wife from there from the daughters of Laban, your mother’s brother.
3ขอพระเจ้าผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์ทรงอวยพระพรแก่เจ้า และโปรดให้เจ้ามีลูกดกทวียิ่งขึ้น จนได้เป็นมวลชนชาติทั้งหลาย
3May God Almighty bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, that you may be a company of peoples,
4ขอพระองค์ทรงประทานพรของอับราฮัมแก่เจ้า และแก่เชื้อสายของเจ้าด้วย เพื่อเจ้าจะได้รับเป็นมรดกแผ่นดินนี้ที่เจ้าอาศัยอยู่เป็นคนต่างด้าว ซึ่งพระเจ้าได้ประทานแก่อับราฮัมแล้ว"
4and give you the blessing of Abraham, to you, and to your seed with you, that you may inherit the land where you travel, which God gave to Abraham.”
5อิสอัคก็ส่งยาโคบไป ยาโคบก็ไปปัดดานอารัมไปหาลาบัน บุตรชายของเบธูเอลคนซีเรียพี่ชายของนางเรเบคาห์ มารดาของยาโคบและเอซาว
5Isaac sent Jacob away. He went to Paddan Aram to Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, Rebekah’s brother, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother.
6ฝ่ายเอซาวเมื่อเห็นว่าอิสอัคอวยพรยาโคบ และส่งเขาไปยังปัดดานอารัมเพื่อหาภรรยาจากที่นั่น และเห็นว่าเมื่ออิสอัคอวยพรเขานั้นท่านกำชับเขาว่า "เจ้าอย่าแต่งงานกับหญิงคานาอันเลย"
6Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan Aram, to take him a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a command, saying, “You shall not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan,”
7และเห็นว่ายาโคบเชื่อฟังบิดามารดา และไปยังปัดดานอารัม
7and that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Paddan Aram.
8เมื่อเอซาวเห็นว่าหญิงคานาอันไม่เป็นที่พอใจอิสอัคบิดาของตน
8Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan didn’t please Isaac, his father.
9เอซาวจึงไปหาอิชมาเอลและรับมาหะลัทบุตรสาวของอิชมาเอลบุตรชายของอับราฮัมน้องสาวของเนบาโยทมาเป็นภรรยา นอกเหนือภรรยาซึ่งเขามีอยู่แล้ว
9Esau went to Ishmael, and took, besides the wives that he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife.
10ยาโคบออกจากเมืองเบเออร์เชบาเดินไปยังเมืองฮาราน
10Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11เขามาถึงที่แห่งหนึ่ง และพักอยู่ที่นั่นในคืนนั้น เพราะดวงอาทิตย์ตกแล้ว เขาเอาหินจากที่นั่นมาเป็นหมอนหนุนศีรษะ แล้วนอนลงที่นั่น
11He came to a certain place, and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. He took one of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12เขาฝัน และดูเถิด มีบันไดอันหนึ่งตั้งขึ้นบนแผ่นดินโลก ยอดถึงฟ้าสวรรค์ ดูเถิด ทูตสวรรค์ทั้งหลายของพระเจ้ากำลังขึ้นลงอยู่บนนั้น
12He dreamed. Behold, a stairway set upon the earth, and its top reached to heaven. Behold, the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
13และดูเถิด พระเยโฮวาห์ประทับยืนอยู่เหนือบันได และตรัสว่า "เราคือเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของอับราฮัม บรรพบุรุษของเจ้า และพระเจ้าของอิสอัค แผ่นดินซึ่งเจ้านอนอยู่นั้นเราจะให้แก่เจ้าและเชื้อสายของเจ้า
13Behold, Yahweh stood above it, and said, “I am Yahweh, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. The land whereon you lie, to you will I give it, and to your seed.
14เชื้อสายของเจ้าจะเป็นเหมือนผงคลีบนแผ่นดิน และเจ้าจะแผ่กว้างออกไปทิศตะวันตกและทิศตะวันออก ทางทิศเหนือและทิศใต้ บรรดาครอบครัวทั่วแผ่นดินโลกจะได้รับพรเพราะเจ้าและเพราะเชื้อสายของเจ้า
14Your seed will be as the dust of the earth, and you will spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. In you and in your seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.
15ดูเถิด เราอยู่กับเจ้า และจะพิทักษ์รักษาเจ้าทุกแห่งหนที่เจ้าไป และจะนำเจ้ากลับมายังแผ่นดินนี้ เพราะเราจะไม่ทอดทิ้งเจ้าจนกว่าเราจะได้ทำสิ่งซึ่งเราพูดกับเจ้าไว้นั้นแล้ว"
15Behold, I am with you, and will keep you, wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken of to you.”
16ยาโคบตื่นขึ้นและพูดว่า "พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถิต ณ ที่นี้แน่ทีเดียว แต่ข้าหารู้ไม่"
16Jacob awakened out of his sleep, and he said, “Surely Yahweh is in this place, and I didn’t know it.”
17เขากลัวและพูดว่า "สถานที่นี้น่านับถือ สถานที่นี้มิใช่อย่างอื่น แต่เป็นพระนิเวศของพระเจ้าและประตูฟ้าสวรรค์"
17He was afraid, and said, “How dreadful is this place! This is none other than God’s house, and this is the gate of heaven.”
18ยาโคบจึงลุกขึ้นแต่เช้ามืด เอาก้อนหินที่ทำหมอนหนุนศีรษะ ตั้งขึ้นเป็นเสาสำคัญ และเทน้ำมันบนยอดเสานั้น
18Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil on its top.
19เขาเรียกสถานที่นั้นว่า เบธเอล แต่ก่อนเมืองนั้นชื่อ ลูส
19He called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.
20แล้วยาโคบปฏิญาณว่า "ถ้าพระเจ้าจะทรงอยู่กับข้าพระองค์ และจะทรงพิทักษ์รักษาในทางที่ข้าพระองค์ไป และจะประทานอาหารให้ข้าพระองค์รับประทาน และเสื้อผ้าให้ข้าพระองค์สวม
20Jacob vowed a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on,
21จนข้าพระองค์กลับมาบ้านบิดาของข้าพระองค์โดยสันติภาพแล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงเป็นพระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์
21so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, and Yahweh will be my God,
22และก้อนหินซึ่งข้าพระองค์ตั้งไว้เป็นเสาสำคัญ จะเป็นพระนิเวศของพระเจ้า และทุกสิ่งที่พระองค์ทรงประทานแก่ข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์จะถวายหนึ่งในสิบแก่พระองค์"
22then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, will be God’s house. Of all that you will give me I will surely give the tenth to you.”
