1อาดัมได้สมสู่กับเอวาภรรยาของเขา นางได้ตั้งครรภ์ และคลอดบุตรชื่อคาอิน จึงกล่าวว่า "ข้าพเจ้าได้รับชายคนหนึ่งจากพระเยโฮวาห์"
1The man knew Eve his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Cain, and said, “I have gotten a man with Yahweh’s help.”
2นางได้คลอดบุตรอีกครั้งหนึ่งซึ่งเป็นน้องชายของเขาชื่ออาแบล อาแบลเป็นคนเลี้ยงแกะ แต่คาอินเป็นคนทำไร่ไถนา
2Again she gave birth, to Cain’s brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3อยู่มาวันหนึ่งปรากฏว่า คาอินได้นำผลไม้จากไร่นามาเป็นเครื่องบูชาถวายพระเยโฮวาห์
3As time passed, it happened that Cain brought an offering to Yahweh from the fruit of the ground.
4เช่นกันอาแบลได้นำผลแรกจากฝูงแกะของเขาและไขมันของแกะ พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพอพระทัยต่ออาแบลและเครื่องบูชาของเขา
4Abel also brought some of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. Yahweh respected Abel and his offering,
5แต่พระองค์ไม่ทรงพอพระทัยต่อคาอินและเครื่องบูชาของเขา และคาอินได้โกรธแค้นยิ่งนัก สีหน้าหม่นหมองไป
5but he didn’t respect Cain and his offering. Cain was very angry, and the expression on his face fell.
6พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสแก่คาอินว่า "ทำไมเจ้าถึงโกรธแค้น และทำไมสีหน้าเจ้าหม่นหมองไป
6Yahweh said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why has the expression of your face fallen?
7ถ้าเจ้าทำดี เจ้าจะไม่ได้รับการยกย่องหรือ ถ้าเจ้าทำไม่ดี เครื่องบูชาไถ่บาปก็หมอบอยู่ที่ประตู ถ้าเจ้าปรารถนา เจ้าจงถวายแกะนั้น"
7If you do well, will it not be lifted up? If you don’t do well, sin crouches at the door. Its desire is for you, but you are to rule over it.”
8คาอินพูดกับอาแบลน้องชายของเขา ต่อมาเมื่อเขาทั้งสองอยู่ในที่นาด้วยกัน คาอินได้ลุกขึ้นต่อสู้อาแบลน้องชายของเขาและฆ่าเขา
8Cain said to Abel, his brother, “Let’s go into the field.” It happened when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and killed him.
9พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่คาอินว่า "อาแบลน้องชายของเจ้าอยู่ที่ไหน" เขาทูลว่า "ข้าพระองค์ไม่ทราบ ข้าพระองค์เป็นผู้ดูแลน้องชายหรือ"
9Yahweh said to Cain, “Where is Abel, your brother?” He said, “I don’t know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10พระองค์ตรัสว่า "เจ้าทำอะไรไป เสียงร้องของโลหิตน้องชายของเจ้าร้องจากดินถึงเรา
10Yahweh said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries to me from the ground.
11บัดนี้เจ้าถูกสาปแช่งจากแผ่นดินแล้ว ซึ่งได้อ้าปากรับโลหิตน้องชายของเจ้าจากมือเจ้า
11Now you are cursed because of the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
12เมื่อเจ้าทำไร่ไถนา มันจะไม่เกิดผลแก่เจ้าเหมือนเดิม เจ้าจะต้องพเนจรร่อนเร่ไปมาในโลก"
12From now on, when you till the ground, it won’t yield its strength to you. You shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth.”
13คาอินทูลแก่พระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "โทษของข้าพระองค์หนักเหลือที่ข้าพระองค์จะแบกรับได้
13Cain said to Yahweh, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14ดูเถิด วันนี้พระองค์ได้ทรงขับไล่ข้าพระองค์จากพื้นแผ่นดินโลก ข้าพระองค์จะถูกซ่อนไว้จากพระพักตร์ของพระองค์ และข้าพระองค์จะพเนจรร่อนเร่ไปมาในโลก จากนั้นทุกคนที่พบข้าพระองค์จะฆ่าข้าพระองค์เสีย"
14Behold, you have driven me out this day from the surface of the ground. I will be hidden from your face, and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth. It will happen that whoever finds me will kill me.”
15พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่เขาว่า "เหตุฉะนั้นใครก็ตามที่ฆ่าคาอิน จะรับโทษถึงเจ็ดเท่า" แล้วเกรงว่าใครที่พบเขาจะฆ่าเขา พระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงประทับตราที่ตัวคาอิน
15Yahweh said to him, “Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” Yahweh appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should strike him.
16คาอินได้ออกไปจากพระพักตร์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ และอาศัยอยู่เมืองโนดทางด้านทิศตะวันออกของเอเดน
16Cain went out from Yahweh’s presence, and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
17คาอินได้สมสู่กับภรรยาของเขา นางได้ตั้งครรภ์ และคลอดบุตรชื่อเอโนค เขาสร้างเมืองขึ้นมาเมืองหนึ่งและเรียกชื่อเมืองนั้นตามชื่อบุตรชายของเขาว่าเอโนค
17Cain knew his wife. She conceived, and gave birth to Enoch. He built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18เอโนคให้กำเนิดบุตรชื่ออิราด อิราดให้กำเนิดบุตรชื่อเมหุยาเอล เมหุยาเอลให้กำเนิดบุตรชื่อเมธูซาเอล เมธูซาเอลให้กำเนิดบุตรชื่อลาเมค
18To Enoch was born Irad. Irad became the father of Mehujael. Mehujael became the father of Methushael. Methushael became the father of Lamech.
19ลาเมคได้ภรรยาสองคน คนหนึ่งมีชื่อว่าอาดาห์ อีกคนหนึ่งมีชื่อว่าศิลลาห์
19Lamech took two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20นางอาดาห์คลอดบุตรชื่อว่ายาบาล เขาเป็นต้นตระกูลของคนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเต็นท์และคนที่เลี้ยงสัตว์
20Adah gave birth to Jabal, who was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.
21น้องชายของเขามีชื่อว่ายูบาล เขาเป็นต้นตระกูลของบรรดาคนที่ดีดพิณเขาคู่และเป่าขลุ่ย
21His brother’s name was Jubal, who was the father of all who handle the harp and pipe.
22นางศิลลาห์คลอดบุตรด้วยชื่อว่าทูบัลคาอิน ซึ่งเป็นผู้สอนบรรดาช่างฝีมือทำเครื่องทองสัมฤทธิ์และเหล็ก ทูบัลคาอินมีน้องสาวชื่อว่านาอามาห์
22Zillah also gave birth to Tubal Cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of brass and iron. Tubal Cain’s sister was Naamah.
23ลาเมคพูดกับภรรยาทั้งสองของเขาว่า "อาดาห์และศิลลาห์ จงฟังเสียงของเรา ภรรยาทั้งสองของลาเมค จงเชื่อฟังถ้อยคำของเรา เพราะเราได้ฆ่าคนๆหนึ่งที่ทำให้เราบาดเจ็บ ชายหนุ่มที่ทำอันตรายแก่เรา
23Lamech said to his wives, “Adah and Zillah, hear my voice. You wives of Lamech, listen to my speech, for I have slain a man for wounding me, a young man for bruising me.
24ถ้าผู้ที่ฆ่าคาอินจะได้รับโทษเป็นเจ็ดเท่า แล้วผู้ที่ฆ่าลาเมคจะได้รับโทษเจ็ดสิบเจ็ดเท่าเป็นแน่"
24If Cain will be avenged seven times, truly Lamech seventy-seven times.”
25อาดัมได้สมสู่กับภรรยาของเขาอีกครั้งหนึ่ง นางได้คลอดบุตรชายคนหนึ่ง และเรียกชื่อของเขาว่าเสท นางพูดว่า "เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงโปรดให้ข้าพเจ้ามีเชื้อสายอีกคนหนึ่งแทนอาแบล ผู้ซึ่งถูกคาอินฆ่าตาย"
25Adam knew his wife again. She gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, “for God has appointed me another child instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”
26ฝ่ายเสทกำเนิดบุตรชายคนหนึ่งด้วย เขาเรียกชื่อของเขาว่าเอโนช ตั้งแต่นั้นมามนุษย์เริ่มต้นที่จะร้องเรียกพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์
26There was also born a son to Seth, and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on Yahweh’s name.
