1It happened after these things, that someone said to Joseph, “Behold, your father is sick.” He took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
2มีคนบอกยาโคบว่า "ดูเถิด โยเซฟบุตรชายมาหาท่าน" อิสราเอลก็รวบรวมกำลังลุกขึ้นนั่งบนที่นอน
2Someone told Jacob, and said, “Behold, your son Joseph comes to you,” and Israel strengthened himself, and sat on the bed.
3ยาโคบจึงพูดกับโยเซฟว่า "พระเจ้าผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์ได้สำแดงพระองค์แก่พ่อที่ตำบลลูสในแผ่นดินคานาอัน และทรงอวยพระพรแก่พ่อ
3Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
4และตรัสแก่พ่อว่า `ดูเถิด เราจะให้เจ้ามีลูกดกทวียิ่งขึ้นและเราจะทำให้เจ้าเป็นชนชาติใหญ่ และจะยกแผ่นดินนี้ให้แก่เชื้อสายของเจ้าที่มาภายหลังเจ้าเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์เป็นนิตย์'
4and said to me, ‘Behold, I will make you fruitful, and multiply you, and I will make of you a company of peoples, and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.’
5ส่วนบุตรชายทั้งสองของเจ้าที่เกิดแก่เจ้าในประเทศอียิปต์ก่อนพ่อมาหาเจ้าในอียิปต์ก็เป็นบุตรของพ่อ เอฟราอิมและมนัสเสห์จะต้องเป็นของพ่อ เหมือนรูเบนและสิเมโอน
5Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, even as Reuben and Simeon, will be mine.
6ส่วนบุตรของเจ้า ที่เกิดมาภายหลังเขาจะนับเป็นบุตรของเจ้า เขาจะได้ชื่อตามพี่ชายในการรับมรดกของเขา
6Your issue, whom you become the father of after them, will be yours. They will be called after the name of their brothers in their inheritance.
7และสำหรับพ่อเมื่อพ่อจากปัดดานมา นางราเชลซึ่งอยู่กับพ่อก็ได้สิ้นชีวิตในแผ่นดินคานาอันขณะอยู่ตามทางยังห่างจากเอฟราธาห์ แล้วพ่อได้ฝังศพเธอไว้ริมทางไปเอฟราธาห์คือเบธเลเฮม"
7As for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when there was still some distance to come to Ephrath, and I buried her there in the way to Ephrath (the same is Bethlehem).”
8อิสราเอลเห็นบุตรชายทั้งสองของโยเซฟจึงถามว่า "นี่ใคร"
8Israel saw Joseph’s sons, and said, “Who are these?”
9โยเซฟตอบบิดาของตนว่า "นี่เป็นบุตรชายของลูกที่พระเจ้าประทานแก่ลูกในแผ่นดินนี้" อิสราเอลจึงว่า "ขอเจ้าพาบุตรทั้งสองเข้ามาเพื่อพ่อจะได้ให้พรแก่เขา"
9Joseph said to his father, “They are my sons, whom God has given me here.” He said, “Please bring them to me, and I will bless them.”
10คราวนั้นตาของอิสราเอลมืดมัวไปเพราะชรา มองอะไรไม่เห็น โยเซฟพาบุตรเข้ามาใกล้บิดา บิดาก็จุบกอดเขา
10Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he couldn’t see. He brought them near to him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
11อิสราเอลบอกโยเซฟว่า "แต่ก่อนพ่อคิดว่าจะไม่ได้เห็นหน้าเจ้า แต่ดูเถิด พระเจ้าทรงโปรดให้พ่อเห็นทั้งเชื้อสายของเจ้าด้วย"
11Israel said to Joseph, “I didn’t think I would see your face, and behold, God has let me see your seed also.”
12โยเซฟเอาบุตรออกมาจากระหว่างเข่าของท่าน แล้วกราบลงถึงดิน
12Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
13โยเซฟจูงบุตรทั้งสองเข้าไปใกล้บิดา มือขวาจับเอฟราอิมให้อยู่ข้างซ้ายอิสราเอล และมือซ้ายจับมนัสเสห์ให้อยู่ข้างขวาอิสราเอล
13Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near to him.
14ฝ่ายอิสราเอลก็เหยียดมือขวาออกวางบนศีรษะเอฟราอิมผู้เป็นน้อง และมือซ้ายวางไว้บนศีรษะมนัสเสห์ โดยตั้งใจเหยียดมือออกเช่นนั้น เพราะมนัสเสห์เป็นบุตรหัวปี
14Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it on Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn.
15แล้วอิสราเอลกล่าวคำอวยพรแก่โยเซฟว่า "ขอพระเจ้าที่อับราฮัมและอิสอัคบิดาข้าพเจ้าดำเนินอยู่เฉพาะพระพักตร์นั้น ขอพระเจ้าผู้ทรงบำรุงเลี้ยงชีวิตข้าพเจ้าตั้งแต่เกิดมาจนวันนี้
15He blessed Joseph, and said, “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has fed me all my life long to this day,
16ขอทูตสวรรค์ที่ได้ช่วยข้าพเจ้าให้พ้นจากความชั่วร้ายทั้งสิ้น โปรดอวยพรแก่เด็กหนุ่มทั้งสองนี้ ให้เขาสืบชื่อของข้าพเจ้าและชื่อของอับราฮัมและชื่อของอิสอัคบิดาของข้าพเจ้าไว้และขอให้เขาเจริญขึ้นเป็นมวลชนบนแผ่นดินเถิด"
16the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads, and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. Let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”
17ฝ่ายโยเซฟเมื่อเห็นบิดาวางมือข้างขวาบนศีรษะของเอฟราอิมก็ไม่พอใจ จึงจับมือบิดาจะยกจากศีรษะเอฟราอิมวางบนศีรษะมนัสเสห์
17When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him. He held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.
18โยเซฟพูดกับบิดาของตนว่า "ไม่ถูก บิดาของข้าพเจ้า เพราะคนนี้เป็นหัวปี ขอท่านวางมือขวาบนศีรษะคนนี้เถิด"
18Joseph said to his father, “Not so, my father; for this is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”
19บิดาก็ไม่ยอมจึงตอบว่า "พ่อรู้แล้ว ลูกเอ๋ย พ่อรู้แล้ว เขาจะเป็นคนตระกูลหนึ่งด้วย และเขาจะใหญ่โตด้วย แต่แท้จริงน้องชายจะใหญ่โตกว่าพี่ และเชื้อสายของน้องนั้นจะเป็นคนหลายประชาชาติด้วยกัน"
19His father refused, and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become a multitude of nations.”
20วันนั้นอิสราเอลก็ให้พรแก่ทั้งสองคนว่า "พวกอิสราเอลจะใช้ชื่อเจ้าให้พรว่า `ขอพระเจ้าทรงโปรดให้ท่านเป็นเหมือนเอฟราอิมและเหมือนมนัสเสห์เถิด'" อิสราเอลจึงให้เอฟราอิมเป็นใหญ่กว่ามนัสเสห์
20He blessed them that day, saying, “In you will Israel bless, saying, ‘God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh’” He set Ephraim before Manasseh.
21อิสราเอลบอกโยเซฟว่า "ดูเถิด พ่อจะตายแล้ว แต่พระเจ้าจะทรงสถิตอยู่กับพวกเจ้าและจะพาพวกเจ้ากลับไปสู่แผ่นดินของบรรพบุรุษของเจ้า
21Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am dying, but God will be with you, and bring you again to the land of your fathers.
22ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก พ่อจะยกส่วนหนึ่งที่พ่อตีได้จากมือคนอาโมไรต์ด้วยดาบและธนูของพ่อนั้นให้แก่เจ้าแทนที่จะให้พี่น้องของเจ้า"
22Moreover I have given to you one portion above your brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.”
