¹ฝ่ายมหาปุโรหิตทุกคนที่เลือกมาจากมนุษย์ได้แต่งตั้งไว้ให้สำหรับมนุษย์ในบรรดาการซึ่งเกี่ยวกับพระเจ้า เพื่อท่านจะได้นำเครื่องบรรณาการและเครื่องบูชามาถวายเพราะความบาป

¹For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.

²ท่านนั้นมีใจเมตตากรุณาคนโง่และคนหลงผิดได้ เพราะท่านเองก็มีความอ่อนกำลังอยู่รอบตัวด้วย

²The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness.

³เหตุฉะนั้นท่านต้องถวายเครื่องบูชาเพราะความบาปเพื่อคนทั้งปวงฉันใด ท่านจึงต้องถวายเพื่อตัวเองด้วยฉันนั้น

³Because of this, he must offer sacrifices for sins for the people, as well as for himself.

⁴และไม่มีผู้ใดตั้งตนเองสำหรับเกียรตินี้ได้ เว้นแต่พระเจ้าทรงเรียกเหมือนอย่างทรงเรียกอาโรน

⁴Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was.

⁵ในทำนองเดียวกัน พระคริสต์ก็ไม่ได้ทรงยกย่องพระองค์เองขึ้นเป็นมหาปุโรหิต แต่เป็นโดยพระเจ้า ผู้ได้ตรัสกับพระองค์ว่า `ท่านเป็นบุตรของเรา วันนี้เราได้ให้กำเนิดแก่ท่านแล้ว'

⁵So also Christ didn’t glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him, “You are my Son. Today I have become your father.” Psalm 2:7

⁶เหมือนพระองค์ได้ตรัสอีกแห่งหนึ่งว่า `ท่านเป็นปุโรหิตเป็นนิตย์ตามอย่างของเมลคีเซเดค'

⁶As he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.” Psalm 110:4

⁷ฝ่ายพระเยซู ขณะเมื่อพระองค์ดำรงอยู่ในเนื้อหนังนั้น พระองค์ได้ถวายคำอธิษฐาน และทูลวิงวอนด้วยทรงกันแสงมากมายและน้ำพระเนตรไหล ต่อพระเจ้าผู้ทรงสามารถช่วยพระองค์ให้พ้นจากความตายได้ และพระเจ้าได้ทรงสดับเพราะพระองค์นั้นได้ยำเกรง

⁷He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,

⁸ถึงแม้ว่าพระองค์ทรงเป็นพระบุตร พระองค์ก็ทรงเรียนรู้ที่จะนอบน้อมยอมเชื่อฟัง โดยความทุกข์ลำบากที่พระองค์ได้ทรงทนเอา

⁸though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.

⁹และเมื่อทรงถูกทำให้เพียบพร้อมทุกประการแล้ว พระองค์ก็เลยทรงเป็นผู้จัดความรอดนิรันดร์สำหรับคนทั้งปวงที่เชื่อฟังพระองค์

⁹Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,

¹⁰โดยพระเจ้าได้ทรงตั้งพระองค์ให้เป็นมหาปุโรหิตตามอย่างของเมลคีเซเดค

¹⁰named by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

¹¹เรื่องเกี่ยวกับพระองค์นั้นมีมากและยากที่จะอธิบายให้เข้าใจได้ เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายกลายเป็นคนหูตึงเสียแล้ว

¹¹About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing.

¹²ถึงแม้ว่าขณะนี้ท่านทั้งหลายควรจะเป็นครูได้แล้ว แต่ท่านก็ต้องให้คนอื่นสอนท่านอีกในเรื่องหลักเบื้องต้นแห่งพระวจนะของพระเจ้า และท่านทั้งหลายกลายเป็นคนที่ยังต้องกินน้ำนม ไม่ใช่อาหารแข็ง

¹²For although by this time you should be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food.

¹³เพราะว่าทุกคนที่ยังกินน้ำนมนั้นก็ยังไม่ชำนาญในพระวจนะแห่งความชอบธรรม เพราะเขายังเป็นทารกอยู่

¹³For everyone who lives on milk is not experienced in the word of righteousness, for he is a baby.

¹⁴แต่อาหารแข็งนั้นเป็นอาหารสำหรับผู้ใหญ่ คือผู้ที่เคยฝึกหัดความคิดของเขาจนสังเกตได้ว่าไหนดีไหนชั่ว

¹⁴But solid food is for those who are full grown, who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.
