¹"เราบอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่ท่านทั้งหลาย ก็เพื่อไม่ให้ท่านสะดุดใจ

¹ “These things have I spoken to you, so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.

²เขาจะไล่ท่านเสียจากธรรมศาลา แท้จริงวันหนึ่งทุกคนที่ประหารชีวิตของท่านจะคิดว่า เขาทำการนั้นเป็นการปฏิบัติพระเจ้า

² They will put you out of the synagogues. Yes, the time comes that whoever kills you will think that he offers service to God.

³เขาจะกระทำดังนั้นแก่ท่านเพราะเขาไม่รู้จักพระบิดาและไม่รู้จักเรา

³ They will do these things TR adds “to you” because they have not known the Father, nor me.

⁴แต่ที่เราบอกสิ่งเหล่านี้แก่ท่านก็เพื่อว่าเมื่อถึงเวลานั้น ท่านจะได้ระลึกว่าเราได้บอกท่านไว้แล้ว และเรามิได้บอกเรื่องนี้แก่ท่านทั้งหลายแต่แรก เพราะว่าเรายังอยู่กับท่าน

⁴ But I have told you these things, so that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you about them. I didn’t tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.

⁵แต่บัดนี้เรากำลังจะไปหาพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา และไม่มีใครในพวกท่านถามเราว่า `พระองค์จะเสด็จไปที่ไหน'

⁵ But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’

⁶แต่เพราะเราได้บอกเรื่องนี้แก่พวกท่าน จิตใจของท่านจึงเต็มด้วยความทุกข์โศก

⁶ But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.

⁷อย่างไรก็ตามเราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย คือการที่เราจากไปนั้นก็เพื่อประโยชน์ของท่าน เพราะถ้าเราไม่ไป พระองค์ผู้ปลอบประโลมใจก็จะไม่เสด็จมาหาท่าน แต่ถ้าเราไปแล้ว เราก็จะใช้พระองค์มาหาท่าน

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

⁸เมื่อพระองค์นั้นเสด็จมาแล้ว พระองค์จะทรงกระทำให้โลกรู้สึกถึงความผิดบาป และถึงความชอบธรรม และถึงการพิพากษา

⁸ When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;

⁹ถึงความผิดบาปนั้น คือเพราะเขาไม่เชื่อในเรา

⁹ about sin, because they don’t believe in me;

¹⁰ถึงความชอบธรรมนั้น คือเพราะเราไปหาพระบิดาของเรา และท่านทั้งหลายจะไม่เห็นเราอีก

¹⁰ about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you won’t see me any more;

¹¹ถึงการพิพากษานั้น คือเพราะผู้ครองโลกนี้ถูกพิพากษาแล้ว

¹¹ about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.

¹²เรายังมีอีกหลายสิ่งที่จะบอกท่านทั้งหลาย แต่เดี๋ยวนี้ท่านยังรับไว้ไม่ได้

¹² “I have yet many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now.

¹³เมื่อพระองค์ พระวิญญาณแห่งความจริงจะเสด็จมาแล้ว พระองค์จะนำท่านทั้งหลายไปสู่ความจริงทั้งมวล เพราะพระองค์จะไม่ตรัสโดยพระองค์เอง แต่พระองค์จะตรัสสิ่งที่พระองค์ทรงได้ยิน และพระองค์จะทรงแจ้งให้ท่านทั้งหลายรู้ถึงสิ่งเหล่านั้นที่จะเกิดขึ้น

¹³ However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.

¹⁴พระองค์จะทรงให้เราได้รับเกียรติ เพราะว่าพระองค์จะทรงเอาสิ่งที่เป็นของเรามาสำแดงแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย

¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.

¹⁵ทุกสิ่งที่พระบิดาทรงมีนั้นเป็นของเรา เหตุฉะนั้นเราจึงกล่าวว่า พระวิญญาณทรงเอาสิ่งซึ่งเป็นของเรานั้นมาสำแดงแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย

¹⁵ All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes TR reads “will take” instead of “takes” of mine, and will declare it to you.

¹⁶อีกหน่อยท่านทั้งหลายก็จะไม่เห็นเรา และต่อไปอีกหน่อยท่านก็จะเห็นเรา เพราะเราไปถึงพระบิดา"

¹⁶ A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”

¹⁷สาวกบางคนของพระองค์จึงพูดกันว่า "ที่พระองค์ตรัสกับเราว่า `อีกหน่อยท่านทั้งหลายก็จะไม่เห็นเรา และต่อไปอีกหน่อยท่านก็จะเห็นเรา' และ `เพราะเราไปถึงพระบิดา' เหล่านี้หมายความว่าอะไร"

¹⁷Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father?’ ”

¹⁸เขาจึงพูดกันว่า "นั้นหมายความว่าอะไรที่พระองค์ตรัสว่า `อีกหน่อย' เราไม่ทราบว่า สิ่งที่พระองค์ตรัสนั้นหมายความว่าอะไร"

¹⁸They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while?’ We don’t know what he is saying.”

¹⁹พระเยซูทรงทราบว่าเขาอยากทูลถามพระองค์ จึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายถามกันอยู่หรือว่า เราหมายความว่าอะไรที่พูดว่า `อีกหน่อยท่านก็จะไม่เห็นเรา และต่อไปอีกหน่อยท่านก็จะเห็นเรา'

¹⁹Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’

²⁰เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ท่านจะร้องไห้และคร่ำครวญ แต่โลกจะชื่นชมยินดี และท่านทั้งหลายจะทุกข์โศก แต่ความทุกข์โศกของท่านจะกลับกลายเป็นความชื่นชมยินดี

²⁰ Most certainly I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

²¹เมื่อผู้หญิงกำลังจะคลอดบุตร นางก็มีความทุกข์ เพราะถึงกำหนดแล้ว แต่เมื่อคลอดบุตรแล้ว นางก็ไม่ระลึกถึงความเจ็บปวดนั้นเลย เพราะมีความชื่นชมยินดีที่คนหนึ่งเกิดมาในโลก

²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, has sorrow, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she doesn’t remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world.

²²ฉันใดก็ดีขณะนี้ท่านทั้งหลายมีความทุกข์โศก แต่เราจะเห็นท่านอีก และใจท่านจะชื่นชมยินดี และไม่มีผู้ใดช่วงชิงความชื่นชมยินดีไปจากท่านได้

²² Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

²³ในวันนั้นท่านจะไม่ถามอะไรเราอีก เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ถ้าท่านจะขอสิ่งใดจากพระบิดาในนามของเรา พระองค์จะทรงประทานสิ่งนั้นให้แก่ท่าน

²³ “In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

²⁴แม้จนบัดนี้ท่านยังไม่ได้ขอสิ่งใดในนามของเรา จงขอเถิดแล้วจะได้ เพื่อความชื่นชมยินดีของท่านจะมีเต็มเปี่ยม

²⁴ Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

²⁵เราพูดเรื่องนี้กับท่านเป็นคำอรรถ แต่วันหนึ่งเราจะไม่พูดกับท่านเป็นคำอรรถอีก แต่จะบอกท่านถึงเรื่องพระบิดาอย่างแจ่มแจ้ง

²⁵ I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.

²⁶ในวันนั้นพวกท่านจะทูลขอในนามของเรา และเราจะไม่บอกท่านว่า เราจะอ้อนวอนพระบิดาเพื่อท่าน

²⁶ In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,

²⁷เพราะว่าพระบิดาเองก็ทรงรักท่านทั้งหลาย เพราะท่านรักเราและเชื่อว่าเรามาจากพระเจ้า

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.

²⁸เรามาจากพระบิดาและได้เข้ามาในโลกแล้ว เราจะจากโลกนี้ไปถึงพระบิดาอีก"

²⁸ I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.”

²⁹เหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ทูลพระองค์ว่า "ดูเถิด บัดนี้พระองค์ตรัสอย่างแจ่มแจ้งแล้ว มิได้ตรัสเป็นคำอรรถ

²⁹His disciples said to him, “Behold, now you speak plainly, and speak no figures of speech.

³⁰เดี๋ยวนี้พวกข้าพระองค์รู้แน่ว่า พระองค์ทรงทราบทุกสิ่ง และไม่จำเป็นที่ผู้ใดจะทูลถามพระองค์อีก ด้วยเหตุนี้ข้าพระองค์เชื่อว่าพระองค์ทรงมาจากพระเจ้า"

³⁰Now we know that you know all things, and don’t need for anyone to question you. By this we believe that you came forth from God.”

³¹พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "เดี๋ยวนี้ท่านทั้งหลายเชื่อแล้วหรือ

³¹Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe?

³²ดูเถิด เวลาจะมา เวลานั้นก็ถึงแล้ว ที่ท่านจะต้องกระจัดกระจายไปยังที่ของท่านทุกคน และจะทิ้งเราไว้แต่ผู้เดียว แต่เราหาได้อยู่ผู้เดียวไม่ เพราะพระบิดาทรงสถิตอยู่กับเรา

³² Behold, the time is coming, yes, and has now come, that you will be scattered, everyone to his own place, and you will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

³³เราได้บอกเรื่องนี้แก่ท่าน เพื่อท่านจะได้มีสันติสุขในเรา ในโลกนี้ท่านจะประสบความทุกข์ยาก แต่จงชื่นใจเถิด เพราะว่าเราได้ชนะโลกแล้ว"

³³ I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
