¹"เราเป็นเถาองุ่นแท้ และพระบิดาของเราทรงเป็นผู้ดูแลรักษา

¹ “I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.

²กิ่งทุกกิ่งในเราที่ไม่ออกผล พระองค์ก็ทรงตัดทิ้งเสีย และกิ่งทุกกิ่งที่ออกผล พระองค์ก็ทรงลิดเพื่อให้ออกผลมากขึ้น

² Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.

³ท่านทั้งหลายได้รับการชำระให้สะอาดแล้วด้วยถ้อยคำที่เราได้กล่าวแก่ท่าน

³ You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

⁴จงเข้าสนิทอยู่ในเรา และเราเข้าสนิทอยู่ในท่าน กิ่งจะออกผลเองไม่ได้นอกจากจะติดอยู่กับเถาฉันใด ท่านทั้งหลายจะเกิดผลไม่ได้นอกจากท่านจะเข้าสนิทอยู่ในเราฉันนั้น

⁴ Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.

⁵เราเป็นเถาองุ่น ท่านทั้งหลายเป็นกิ่ง ผู้ที่เข้าสนิทอยู่ในเราและเราเข้าสนิทอยู่ในเขา ผู้นั้นจะเกิดผลมาก เพราะถ้าแยกจากเราแล้วท่านจะทำสิ่งใดไม่ได้เลย

⁵ I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

⁶ถ้าผู้ใดมิได้เข้าสนิทอยู่ในเรา ผู้นั้นก็ต้องถูกทิ้งเสียเหมือนกิ่ง แล้วก็เหี่ยวแห้งไป และเขารวบรวมไว้ทิ้งในไฟเผาเสีย

⁶ If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

⁷ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายเข้าสนิทอยู่ในเรา และถ้อยคำของเราฝังอยู่ในท่านแล้ว ท่านจะขอสิ่งใดซึ่งท่านปรารถนา ท่านก็จะได้สิ่งนั้น

⁷ If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.

⁸พระบิดาของเราทรงได้รับเกียรติเพราะเหตุนี้ คือเมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเกิดผลมาก ท่านจึงเป็นสาวกของเรา

⁸ “In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.

⁹พระบิดาทรงรักเราฉันใด เราก็รักท่านทั้งหลายฉันนั้น จงยึดมั่นอยู่ในความรักของเรา

⁹ Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love.

¹⁰ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายประพฤติตามบัญญัติของเรา ท่านก็จะยึดมั่นอยู่ในความรักของเรา เหมือนดังที่เราประพฤติตามพระบัญญัติของพระบิดาเรา และยึดมั่นอยู่ในความรักของพระองค์

¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.

¹¹นี้คือสิ่งที่เราได้บอกแก่ท่านทั้งหลายแล้ว เพื่อให้ความยินดีของเราดำรงอยู่ในท่าน และให้ความยินดีของท่านเต็มเปี่ยม

¹¹ I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.

¹²นี่แหละเป็นบัญญัติของเรา คือให้ท่านทั้งหลายรักซึ่งกันและกัน เหมือนดังที่เราได้รักท่าน

¹² “This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.

¹³ไม่มีผู้ใดมีความรักที่ยิ่งใหญ่กว่านี้ คือการที่ผู้หนึ่งผู้ใดจะสละชีวิตของตนเพื่อมิตรสหายของตน

¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

¹⁴ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายประพฤติตามที่เราสั่งท่าน ท่านก็จะเป็นมิตรสหายของเรา

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.

¹⁵เราไม่เรียกท่านทั้งหลายว่าทาสอีก เพราะทาสไม่ทราบว่านายของเขาทำอะไร แต่เราเรียกท่านว่ามิตรสหาย เพราะว่าทุกสิ่งที่เราได้ยินจากพระบิดาของเรา เราได้สำแดงแก่ท่านแล้ว

¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

¹⁶ท่านทั้งหลายไม่ได้เลือกเรา แต่เราได้เลือกท่านทั้งหลาย และได้แต่งตั้งท่านทั้งหลายไว้ให้ท่านจะไปเกิดผล และเพื่อให้ผลของท่านอยู่ถาวร เพื่อว่าเมื่อท่านทูลขอสิ่งใดจากพระบิดาในนามของเรา พระองค์จะได้ประทานสิ่งนั้นให้แก่ท่าน

¹⁶ You didn’t choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

¹⁷สิ่งเหล่านี้เราสั่งท่านทั้งหลายไว้ว่า ท่านจงรักซึ่งกันและกัน

¹⁷ “I command these things to you, that you may love one another.

¹⁸ถ้าโลกนี้เกลียดชังท่านทั้งหลาย ท่านทั้งหลายก็รู้ว่าโลกได้เกลียดชังเราก่อน

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.

¹⁹ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายเป็นของโลก โลกก็จะรักท่านซึ่งเป็นของโลก แต่เพราะท่านไม่ใช่ของโลก แต่เราได้เลือกท่านออกจากโลก เหตุฉะนั้นโลกจึงเกลียดชังท่าน

¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²⁰จงระลึกถึงคำที่เราได้กล่าวแก่ท่านทั้งหลายแล้วว่า `ทาสมิได้เป็นใหญ่กว่านายของเขา' ถ้าเขาข่มเหงเรา เขาก็จะข่มเหงท่านทั้งหลายด้วย ถ้าเขาปฏิบัติตามคำของเรา เขาก็จะปฏิบัติตามคำของท่านทั้งหลายด้วย

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ John 13:16 If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

²¹แต่ทุกสิ่งที่เขาจะกระทำแก่พวกท่านนั้นก็เพราะนามของเรา เพราะเขาไม่รู้จักพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามา

²¹ But all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.

²²ถ้าเราไม่ได้มาประกาศแก่พวกเขา เขาก็คงจะไม่มีบาป แต่บัดนี้เขาไม่มีข้อแก้ตัวในเรื่องบาปของเขา

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

²³ผู้ที่เกลียดชังเราก็เกลียดชังพระบิดาของเราด้วย

²³ He who hates me, hates my Father also.

²⁴ถ้า ณ ท่ามกลางพวกเขา เรามิได้กระทำสิ่งซึ่งไม่มีผู้อื่นได้กระทำเลย พวกเขาก็จะไม่มีบาป แต่เดี๋ยวนี้เขาก็ได้เห็นและเกลียดชังทั้งตัวเราและพระบิดาของเรา

²⁴ If I hadn’t done among them the works which no one else did, they wouldn’t have had sin. But now have they seen and also hated both me and my Father.

²⁵แต่การนี้เกิดขึ้นเพื่อคำที่เขียนไว้ในพระราชบัญญัติของพวกเขาจะสำเร็จ ซึ่งว่า `เขาได้เกลียดชังเราโดยไร้เหตุ'

²⁵ But this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’ Psalms 35:19; 69:4

²⁶ “When the Counselor Greek Parakletos: Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, and Comforter. has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.

²⁷และท่านทั้งหลายก็จะเป็นพยานด้วย เพราะว่าท่านได้อยู่กับเราตั้งแต่แรกแล้ว"

²⁷ You will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
