¹อยู่มาเมื่อโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระเยโฮวาห์สิ้นชีวิตแล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโยชูวาบุตรชายนูนผู้รับใช้ของโมเสสว่า

¹Now it happened after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. that Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying,

²"โมเสสผู้รับใช้ของเราสิ้นชีวิตแล้ว ฉะนั้นบัดนี้จงลุกขึ้น ยกข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนนี้ ทั้งเจ้าและชนชาตินี้ทั้งหมดไปยังแผ่นดินซึ่งเรายกให้แก่เขาทั้งหลาย คือแก่คนอิสราเอล

²“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I give to them, even to the children of Israel.

³ทุกๆตำบลถิ่นที่ฝ่าเท้าของเจ้าทั้งหลายจะเหยียบลง เราได้ยกให้แก่เจ้าทั้งหลาย ดังที่เราได้ตรัสไว้กับโมเสส

³I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses.

⁴ตั้งแต่ถิ่นทุรกันดารและภูเขาเลบานอนนี้ไกลไปจนถึงแม่น้ำใหญ่ คือแม่น้ำยูเฟรติส แผ่นดินทั้งหมดของคนฮิตไทต์ ถึงทะเลใหญ่ทางทิศตะวันตก จะเป็นอาณาเขตของเจ้า

⁴From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.

⁵ไม่มีผู้ใดจะยืนหยัดต่อหน้าเจ้าได้ตลอดชีวิตของเจ้า เราอยู่กับโมเสสมาแล้วฉันใด เราจะอยู่กับเจ้าฉันนั้น เราจะไม่ละเลยหรือละทิ้งเจ้าเสีย

⁵No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you.

⁶จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญเถิด เพราะเจ้าจะกระทำให้ชนชาตินี้แบ่งมรดกในแผ่นดินนั้น ซึ่งเราปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของเขาทั้งหลายว่าจะยกให้เขา

⁶“Be strong and courageous; for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.

⁷เพียงแต่จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญยิ่งเถิด ระวังที่จะกระทำตามพระราชบัญญัติทั้งหมดซึ่งโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของเราได้บัญชาเจ้าไว้นั้น อย่าหลีกเลี่ยงจากพระราชบัญญัตินั้นไปทางขวามือหรือทางซ้าย เพื่อว่าเจ้าจะไปในถิ่นฐานใด เจ้าจะได้รับความสำเร็จอย่างดี

⁷Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you. Don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

⁸อย่าให้หนังสือพระราชบัญญัตินี้ห่างเหินไปจากปากของเจ้า แต่เจ้าจงตรึกตรองตามนั้นทั้งกลางวันและกลางคืน เพื่อเจ้าจะได้ระวังที่จะกระทำตามข้อความที่เขียนไว้นั้นทุกประการ แล้วเจ้าจะมีความจำเริญ และเจ้าจะสำเร็จผลเป็นอย่างดี

⁸This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

⁹เราสั่งเจ้าไว้แล้วมิใช่หรือว่า จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญเถิด อย่าตกใจหรือคร้ามกลัวเลย เพราะว่าเจ้าไปในถิ่นฐานใด พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเจ้าทรงสถิตกับเจ้า"

⁹Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed: for Yahweh your God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” is with you wherever you go.”

¹⁰แล้วโยชูวาบัญชาเจ้าหน้าที่ทั้งปวงของประชาชนว่า

¹⁰Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

¹¹"จงไปในค่ายสั่งประชาชนว่า จงเตรียมเสบียงอาหารไว้ เพราะว่าภายในสามวันท่านทั้งหลายจะต้องยกข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนนี้ เพื่อเข้าไปยึดครองแผ่นดิน ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านประทานแก่ท่านให้ยึดครอง"

¹¹“Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare food; for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.’”

¹²แล้วโยชูวาพูดกับคนรูเบน คนกาด และคนตระกูลมนัสเสห์ครึ่งหนึ่งว่า

¹²Joshua spoke to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, saying,

¹³"จงจำคำที่โมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระเยโฮวาห์บัญชาท่านทั้งหลายไว้ว่า พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายจัดที่พักให้ท่าน และประทานแผ่นดินนี้แก่ท่าน

¹³“Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, ‘Yahweh your God gives you rest, and will give you this land.

¹⁴จงให้ภรรยาของท่านทั้งหลาย ลูกเล็กของท่าน และฝูงสัตว์ของท่านอยู่ในแผ่นดินซึ่งโมเสสยกให้ที่ฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างนี้ แต่ผู้ชายที่ชำนาญศึกทั้งหลายในพวกท่านต้องถืออาวุธข้ามไปเป็นทัพหน้า เพื่อช่วยพี่น้องของตน

¹⁴Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock, shall live in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan; but you shall pass over before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valor, and shall help them

¹⁵จนกว่าพระเยโฮวาห์จะประทานที่พักให้แก่พี่น้องของท่าน ดังที่ประทานแก่ท่าน ทั้งให้เขาได้ยึดครองแผ่นดินซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านประทานแก่เขา แล้วท่านจึงจะกลับไปยังแผ่นดินที่ท่านยึดครองและถือไว้เป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ คือแผ่นดินซึ่งโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ให้แก่พวกท่านฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างนี้ทางดวงอาทิตย์ขึ้น"

¹⁵until Yahweh has given your brothers rest, as he has given you, and they have also possessed the land which Yahweh your God gives them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.’”

¹⁶เขาทั้งหลายจึงตอบโยชูวาว่า "สิ่งสารพัดซึ่งท่านบัญชาแก่พวกเรา เราจะกระทำตาม ท่านจะให้พวกเราไปในที่ใดๆ เราจะไป

¹⁶They answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

¹⁷เราเชื่อฟังโมเสสในเรื่องทั้งปวงอย่างไร เราจะเชื่อฟังท่านอย่างนั้น ขอเพียงว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงสถิตกับท่าน ดังที่พระองค์ได้สถิตกับโมเสสก็แล้วกัน

¹⁷Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so will we listen to you. Only may Yahweh your God be with you, as he was with Moses.

¹⁸ผู้ใดที่ขัดขืนคำบัญชาของท่าน และไม่เชื่อฟังถ้อยคำของท่าน ไม่ว่าท่านจะบัญชาเขาอย่างไร ผู้นั้นจะต้องถึงตาย ขอเพียงให้เข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญเถิด"

¹⁸Whoever rebels against your commandment, and doesn’t listen to your words in all that you command him, he shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.”
