¹ต่อมาเมื่ออาโดนีเซเดกกษัตริย์เมืองเยรูซาเล็มได้ยินว่า โยชูวาได้ยึดเมืองอัย และทำลายเมืองนั้นเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิงแล้ว ท่านได้กระทำต่อเมืองอัยและกษัตริย์ของเมืองนี้อย่างเดียวกับที่ได้กระทำต่อเมืองเยรีโคและกษัตริย์ของเมืองนั้น และทราบด้วยว่า ชาวเมืองกิเบโอนได้กระทำสันติภาพกับอิสราเอลและอยู่ท่ามกลางพวกเขาแล้ว

¹Now it happened when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

²ท่านก็คร้ามกลัวเป็นอย่างยิ่ง เพราะว่ากิเบโอนเป็นเมืองใหญ่เสมอเมืองหลวงและใหญ่กว่าเมืองอัย และบุรุษชาวเมืองนั้นก็ล้วนแต่ฉกรรจ์

²that they were very afraid, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

³เหตุฉะนี้อาโดนีเซเดกกษัตริย์เมืองเยรูซาเล็มจึงให้ไปหาโฮฮัมกษัตริย์เมืองเฮโบรนและปิรามกษัตริย์เมืองยารมูท และยาเฟียกษัตริย์เมืองลาคีช และเดบีร์กษัตริย์เมืองเอกโลน เรียนว่า

³Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, to Piram king of Jarmuth, to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,

⁴"ขอเชิญท่านมาหาข้าพเจ้า และช่วยข้าพเจ้าตีเมืองกิเบโอนเถิด เพราะว่าเมืองนั้นได้กระทำสันติภาพกับโยชูวาและคนอิสราเอล"

⁴“Come up to me, and help me, and let us strike Gibeon; for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.”

⁵ฝ่ายกษัตริย์ของอาโมไรต์ทั้งห้าองค์ คือ กษัตริย์เมืองเยรูซาเล็ม กษัตริย์เมืองเฮโบรน กษัตริย์เมืองยารมูท กษัตริย์เมืองลาคีช และกษัตริย์เมืองเอกโลน ได้รวบรวมกำลังของตน และยกขึ้นไปพร้อมกับกองทัพทั้งหลาย ตั้งค่ายต่อสู้เมืองกิเบโอน

⁵Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their armies, and encamped against Gibeon, and made war against it.

⁶ฝ่ายชาวเมืองกิเบโอนจึงใช้คนไปหาโยชูวาที่ค่ายในกิลกาล กล่าวว่า "ขอท่านอย่าได้หย่อนมือจากผู้รับใช้ของท่านเลย ขอเร่งขึ้นมาช่วยข้าพเจ้าให้รอดและช่วยข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลาย เพราะว่าบรรดากษัตริย์ของคนอาโมไรต์ ซึ่งอยู่ในแดนเทือกเขา ได้รวมกำลังกันต่อสู้ข้าพเจ้าทั้งหลาย"

⁶The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, “Don’t abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us.”

⁷ฝ่ายโยชูวาจึงขึ้นไปจากกิลกาล ทั้งท่านและบรรดาพลรบด้วย และทแกล้วทหารทั้งหมด

⁷So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.

⁸พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสแก่โยชูวาว่า "อย่ากลัวเขาเลย เพราะเราได้มอบเขาไว้ในมือเจ้าแล้ว จะไม่มีผู้ใดในพวกเขาสักคนเดียวที่จะยืนหยัดต่อสู้เจ้าได้"

⁸Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you.”

⁹เหตุฉะนั้นโยชูวายกเข้าโจมตีพวกนั้นทันที โดยขึ้นไปตลอดคืนจากกิลกาล

⁹Joshua therefore came on them suddenly. He went up from Gilgal all night.

¹⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกระทำให้เขาสะดุ้งแตกตื่นต่อหน้าพวกอิสราเอล พระองค์ได้ทรงฆ่าเขาเสียมากมายที่กิเบโอน และไล่ติดตามเขาไปในทางที่ขึ้นไปถึงเบธโฮโรน และตามฆ่าเขาจนถึงเมืองอาเซคาห์ และเมืองมักเคดาห์

¹⁰Yahweh confused them before Israel, and he killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth Horon, and struck them to Azekah and to Makkedah.

¹¹ต่อมาขณะเมื่อเขาหนีไปข้างหน้าพวกอิสราเอลลงไปตามทางเบธโฮโรนนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงโยนลูกเห็บใหญ่ๆลงมาจากฟ้า ตลอดถึงเมืองอาเซคาห์ เขาทั้งหลายก็ตาย ผู้ที่ตายด้วยลูกเห็บนั้นก็มากกว่าผู้ที่คนอิสราเอลฆ่าเสียด้วยดาบ

¹¹It happened, as they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, that Yahweh cast down great stones from the sky on them to Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than who the children of Israel killed with the sword.

¹²แล้วโยชูวาก็กราบทูลพระเยโฮวาห์ในวันที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงมอบคนอาโมไรต์ต่อหน้าคนอิสราเอลนั้น และท่านได้กล่าวท่ามกลางสายตาของคนอิสราเอลว่า "ดวงอาทิตย์เอ๋ย เจ้าจงหยุดนิ่งตรงเมืองกิเบโอน และดวงจันทร์เอ๋ย เจ้าจงหยุดอยู่ตรงหุบเขาอัยยาโลน"

¹²Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”

¹³ดวงอาทิตย์ก็หยุดนิ่ง และดวงจันทร์ก็ตั้งเฉยอยู่จนประชาชนได้แก้แค้นศัตรูของเขาเสร็จ เรื่องนี้มิได้จารึกไว้ในหนังสือยาชาร์ดอกหรือ ดวงอาทิตย์หยุดนิ่งอยู่กลางท้องฟ้า หาได้รีบตกไปตามเวลาประมาณวันหนึ่งไม่

¹³The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn’t this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the midst of the sky, and didn’t hurry to go down about a whole day.

¹⁴วันที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสดับฟังเสียงของมนุษย์อย่างกับวันนั้นทั้งในสมัยก่อนหรือในสมัยต่อมาไม่มีอีกแล้ว เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงต่อสู้เพื่ออิสราเอล

¹⁴There was no day like that before it or after it, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.

¹⁵แล้วโยชูวากับบรรดาคนอิสราเอลก็กลับมาสู่ค่ายที่กิลกาล

¹⁵Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.

¹⁶กษัตริย์ทั้งห้านั้นหนีไปซ่อนตัวอยู่ในถ้ำมักเคดาห์

¹⁶These five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.

¹⁷มีคนไปบอกโยชูวาว่า "มีคนพบกษัตริย์ทั้งห้าซ่อนตัวอยู่ในถ้ำที่มักเคดาห์"

¹⁷Joshua was told, saying, “The five kings are found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah.”

¹⁸โยชูวาจึงกล่าวว่า "จงกลิ้งก้อนหินใหญ่ปิดปากถ้ำเสีย และวางยามให้เฝ้ารักษาไว้

¹⁸Joshua said, “Roll large stones to the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to guard them;

¹⁹แต่ท่านทั้งหลายอย่าคอยอยู่เลย จงติดตามศัตรูของท่านเถิด จงเข้าโจมตีกองระวังหลัง อย่าให้กลับเข้าในเมืองของเขาได้ เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านได้มอบเขาทั้งหลายไว้ในมือของท่านแล้ว"

¹⁹but don’t stay. Pursue your enemies, and them from the rear. Don’t allow them to enter into their cities; for Yahweh your God has delivered them into your hand.”

²⁰ต่อมาเมื่อโยชูวากับคนอิสราเอลฆ่าพวกเหล่านั้นเสียเป็นอันมากจนหมดแล้ว ส่วนผู้ที่เหลืออยู่ก็หนีกลับเข้าไปในเมืองที่มีกำแพงล้อม

²⁰It happened, when Joshua and the children of Israel had finished killing them with a very great slaughter until they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,

²¹ประชาชนทั้งปวงก็กลับมาหาโยชูวา ณ ค่ายที่มักเคดาห์โดยสันติภาพทุกคน หามีผู้ใดกล้ากระดิกลิ้นถึงคนอิสราเอลต่อไปไม่

²¹that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. None moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

²²แล้วโยชูวาจึงว่า "จงเปิดปากถ้ำคุมกษัตริย์ทั้งห้านั้นออกจากถ้ำมาหาเรา"

²²Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave, and bring those five kings out of the cave to me.”

²³เขาก็กระทำตาม จึงคุมกษัตริย์ทั้งห้าออกจากถ้ำมาหาท่าน มีกษัตริย์เมืองเยรูซาเล็ม กษัตริย์เมืองเฮโบรน กษัตริย์เมืองยารมูท กษัตริย์เมืองลาคีช และกษัตริย์เมืองเอกโลน

²³They did so, and brought those five kings out of the cave to him: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

²⁴ต่อมาเมื่อเขาพากษัตริย์เหล่านั้นมายังโยชูวา โยชูวาจึงเรียกบรรดาคนอิสราเอลมาและสั่งหัวหน้าของทหารผู้ที่ออกไปรบพร้อมกับท่านว่า "จงเข้ามาใกล้เถิด เอาเท้าเหยียบคอกษัตริย์เหล่านี้" แล้วเขาก็เข้ามาใกล้และเอาเท้าเหยียบที่คอ

²⁴It happened, when they brought those kings out to Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him, “Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings.” They came near, and put their feet on their necks.

²⁵และโยชูวากล่าวแก่เขาว่า "อย่ากลัวหรือขยาดเลย จงเข้มแข็งและกล้าหาญเถิด เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์จะทรงกระทำแก่บรรดาศัตรูของท่านซึ่งท่านสู้รบอย่างนี้แหละ"

²⁵Joshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Be strong and courageous, for Yahweh will do this to all your enemies against whom you fight.”

²⁶ภายหลังโยชูวาก็ได้ประหารชีวิตกษัตริย์ทั้งห้าเสีย แล้วแขวนไว้ที่ต้นไม้ห้าต้น และแขวนอยู่บนต้นไม้เช่นนั้นจนเวลาเย็น

²⁶Afterward Joshua struck them, put them to death, and hanged them on five trees. They were hanging on the trees until the evening.

²⁷ต่อมาเมื่อถึงเวลาดวงอาทิตย์ตก โยชูวาได้บัญชาและเขาก็ปลดศพลงจากต้นไม้และทิ้งไว้ในถ้ำซึ่งกษัตริย์เหล่านั้นได้ซ่อนตัวอยู่ และเอาหินใหญ่ๆปิดปากถ้ำนั้นไว้ ซึ่งยังอยู่จนกระทั่งวันนี้

²⁷It happened at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.

²⁸ในวันนั้นโยชูวายึดเมืองมักเคดาห์ได้ ได้ประหารเมืองนั้นเสียด้วยคมดาบ ทั้งกษัตริย์ของเมืองนั้น ท่านได้ทำลายเขาเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง รวมทุกชีวิตที่อยู่ในเมือง ไม่มีเหลือสักคนเดียว และท่านได้กระทำแก่กษัตริย์มักเคดาห์อย่างที่ท่านได้กระทำแก่กษัตริย์เมืองเยรีโค

²⁸Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed them and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

²⁹แล้วโยชูวาและบรรดาคนอิสราเอลก็ยกกองทัพจากเมืองมักเคดาห์มาถึงลิบนาห์ และเข้าสู้รบกับเมืองลิบนาห์

²⁹Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.

³⁰พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงมอบเมืองนั้นและกษัตริย์ของเมืองไว้ในมือคนอิสราเอล และท่านได้ประหารเมืองนั้นด้วยคมดาบและทุกคนที่อยู่ในเมืองนั้น ท่านไม่ให้เหลือสักคนเดียวในเมืองนั้น และท่านได้กระทำต่อกษัตริย์ของเมืองนั้นอย่างที่ท่านได้กระทำต่อกษัตริย์เมืองเยรีโค

³⁰Yahweh delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.

³¹และโยชูวาออกจากเมืองลิบนาห์พร้อมกับอิสราเอลทั้งหมดไปยังลาคีช แล้วล้อมเมืองไว้และเข้าโจมตีเมืองนั้น

³¹Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.

³²และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงมอบเมืองลาคีชไว้ในมือคนอิสราเอล และท่านก็ได้ยึดเมืองนั้นในวันที่สอง และประหารเสียด้วยคมดาบ ทุกคนที่อยู่ในเมืองนั้น ดังที่ท่านได้กระทำแก่เมืองลิบนาห์

³²Yahweh delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel. He took it on the second day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with all the souls who were in it, according to all that he had done to Libnah.

³³ครั้งนั้นโฮรามกษัตริย์เมืองเกเซอร์ได้ขึ้นมาช่วยเมืองลาคีช และโยชูวาได้ประหารเขาและคนของเขาเสีย จนไม่เหลือให้เขาสักคนเดียว

³³Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.

³⁴โยชูวากับคนอิสราเอลทั้งปวงได้ยกออกจากลาคีชไปยังเมืองเอกโลน ได้เข้าล้อมและโจมตีเมืองนั้น

³⁴Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, to Eglon; and they encamped against it fought against it.

³⁵และเขาก็ตีได้ในวันนั้นเองและฆ่าฟันทุกคนเสียด้วยคมดาบ จนทำลายเขาเสียสิ้นในวันนั้น ดังที่ท่านได้กระทำแก่เมืองลาคีช

³⁵They took it on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.

³⁶โยชูวากับคนอิสราเอลทั้งปวงก็ขึ้นจากเมืองเอกโลนไปยังเมืองเฮโบรน เข้าโจมตีเมืองนั้น

³⁶Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it.

³⁷ยึดเมืองนั้นแล้วก็ประหารกษัตริย์และชนบททั้งหมดของเมืองนั้น กับทุกคนที่อยู่ในเมืองนั้นเสียด้วยคมดาบ ท่านไม่ให้เหลือสักคนเดียว ดังที่ท่านได้กระทำต่อเมืองเอกโลน และได้ทำลายเมืองนั้น และทุกคนที่อยู่ในเมืองนั้นเสียสิ้น

³⁷They took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king and all its cities, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls who were in it.

³⁸แล้วโยชูวากับคนอิสราเอลทั้งปวงกลับมายังเมืองเดบีร์ เข้าโจมตีเมืองนั้น

³⁸Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it.

³⁹ท่านได้ยึดเมืองนั้นรวมทั้งกษัตริย์และชนบททั้งหมดของเมือง และได้ไปประหารเขาทั้งหลายเสียด้วยคมดาบ และได้ทำลายทุกคนที่อยู่ในเมืองนั้นเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง ท่านไม่ให้เหลือสักคนเดียว ท่านได้กระทำแก่เมืองเฮโบรนอย่างไร ท่านก็ได้กระทำแก่เมืองเดบีร์และแก่กษัตริย์ของเมืองอย่างนั้น ดังทำแก่เมืองลิบนาห์และแก่กษัตริย์ของเมืองเช่นกัน

³⁹He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.

⁴⁰โยชูวาก็ตีแผ่นดินนั้นให้พ่ายแพ้ไปหมด คือแดนเทือกเขา ในภาคใต้ ในหุบเขา และที่ลาด ทั้งกษัตริย์ทั้งหมดของเมืองเหล่านั้นด้วย ท่านไม่ให้เหลือสักคนเดียว แต่ได้ทำลายทุกสิ่งที่หายใจเสีย ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของคนอิสราเอลได้ทรงบัญชาไว้

⁴⁰So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, and the South, and the lowland, and the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, commanded.

⁴¹โยชูวาได้กระทำให้เขาพ่ายแพ้ตั้งแต่เมืองคาเดชบารเนียจนถึงเมืองกาซา และทั่วประเทศโกเชนจนถึงเมืองกิเบโอน

⁴¹Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea even to Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon.

⁴²โยชูวาก็ยึดตัวกษัตริย์เหล่านี้พร้อมทั้งพื้นดินของเขาทั้งหมดในคราวเดียวกัน เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของคนอิสราเอลได้ทรงสู้รบเพื่ออิสราเอล

⁴²Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time, because Yahweh, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.

⁴³แล้วโยชูวาพร้อมกับบรรดาคนอิสราเอลก็ยกกลับมายังค่ายที่กิลกาล

⁴³Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
