¹ต่อมาอีกนานเมื่อพระเยโฮวาห์โปรดให้อิสราเอลสงบจากการศึกศัตรูทั้งหลายที่ล้อมรอบ และโยชูวามีอายุชราลงมาก

¹It happened after many days, when Yahweh had given rest to Israel from their enemies all around, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,

²โยชูวาก็เรียกบรรดาคนอิสราเอล ทั้งพวกผู้ใหญ่ ผู้หัวหน้า ผู้พิพากษา และเจ้าหน้าที่และกล่าวแก่เขาทั้งหลายว่า "ข้าพเจ้าแก่และมีอายุมากแล้ว

²that Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers, and said to them, “I am old and well advanced in years.

³ท่านทั้งหลายได้เห็นสารพัดซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านได้กระทำต่อบรรดาประชาชาติเหล่านี้เพื่อเห็นแก่ท่าน เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านได้ทรงสู้รบเพื่อท่าน

³You have seen all that Yahweh your God has done to all these nations because of you; for it is Yahweh your God who has fought for you.

⁴ดูเถิด ประชาชาติที่เหลืออยู่นั้น ข้าพเจ้าได้จับสลากแบ่งให้เป็นมรดกแก่ตระกูลของท่าน รวมกับประชาชาติทั้งสิ้นซึ่งข้าพเจ้าได้ขจัดออกเสีย ตั้งแต่แม่น้ำจอร์แดนจนถึงทะเลใหญ่ทางทิศตะวันตก

⁴Behold, I have allotted to you these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from the Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even to the great sea toward the going down of the sun.

⁵พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านจะทรงผลักดันเขาออกไปให้พ้นหน้าท่าน และทรงขับไล่เขาให้ออกไปพ้นสายตาของท่าน และท่านจะได้ยึดครองแผ่นดินของเขา ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทรงสัญญาไว้ต่อท่าน

⁵Yahweh your God will thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight. You shall possess their land, as Yahweh your God spoke to you.

⁶เพราะฉะนั้นจงมีความกล้าในการที่จะรักษาและกระทำตามสิ่งสารพัดซึ่งเขียนไว้ในหนังสือพระราชบัญญัติของโมเสส เพื่อจะไม่ได้หันไปทางขวามือหรือทางซ้ายมือ

⁶“Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that you not turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left;

⁷เพื่อว่าท่านจะมิได้ปะปนกับประชาชาติเหล่านี้ ซึ่งเหลืออยู่ท่ามกลางท่าน หรือออกชื่อพระของเขา หรือปฏิญาณในนามพระของเขา หรือปรนนิบัติพระนั้น หรือกราบลงนมัสการพระนั้น

⁷that you not come among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow down yourselves to them;

⁸แต่ท่านจงติดพันอยู่กับพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านดังที่กระทำอยู่จนทุกวันนี้

⁸but hold fast to Yahweh your God, as you have done to this day.

⁹เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงขับไล่ประชาชาติที่ใหญ่โตและแข็งแรงออกไปให้พ้นหน้าท่าน ส่วนท่านเองก็ยังไม่มีผู้ใดต่อต้านท่านได้จนถึงวันนี้

⁹“For Yahweh has driven great and strong nations out from before you. But as for you, no man has stood before you to this day.

¹⁰พวกท่านคนเดียวจะขับไล่หนึ่งพันคนให้หนีไป เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านต่อสู้เพื่อท่านดังที่พระองค์ทรงสัญญาไว้

¹⁰One man of you shall chase a thousand; for it is Yahweh your God who fights for you, as he spoke to you.

¹¹เพราะฉะนั้นจงระวังตัวให้ดีที่จะรักพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน

¹¹Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that you love Yahweh your God.

¹²เพราะว่าถ้าท่านหันกลับและเข้าร่วมกับประชาชาติเหล่านี้ที่เหลืออยู่ในหมู่พวกท่านโดยแต่งงานกับเขา คือท่านแต่งงานกับหญิงของเขา และเขาแต่งงานกับหญิงของท่าน

¹²“But if you do at all go back, and hold fast to the remnant of these nations, even these who remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you;

¹³ท่านจงทราบเป็นแน่เถิดว่า พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านจะไม่ทรงขับไล่ประชาชาติเหล่านี้ออกไปให้พ้นหน้าท่าน แต่เขาจะเป็นบ่วงและเป็นกับดักท่าน เป็นหอกข้างแคร่เป็นหนามยอกตา จนกว่าท่านจะพินาศไปจากแผ่นดินที่ดีนี้ ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านประทานแก่ท่าน

¹³know for a certainty that Yahweh your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you.

¹⁴ดูเถิด วันนี้ข้าพเจ้ากำลังจะเป็นไปตามทางของโลกแล้ว ท่านทุกคนได้ทราบอย่างสุดจิตสุดใจของท่านแล้วว่า ไม่มีสักสิ่งเดียวซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านตรัสเกี่ยวกับท่านแล้วล้มเหลวไป สำเร็จหมดทุกอย่าง ไม่มีสักอย่างเดียวที่ล้มเหลว

¹⁴“Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Yahweh your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it.

¹⁵สิ่งสารพัดที่ดีซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านสัญญาเกี่ยวกับท่านได้สำเร็จเพื่อท่านฉันใด พระเยโฮวาห์ก็จะทรงนำสิ่งสารพัดที่ร้ายมาถึงท่าน จนกว่าพระองค์จะทำลายท่านเสียจากแผ่นดินอันดีนี้ ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านประทานแก่ท่านเช่นเดียวกัน

¹⁵It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which Yahweh your God spoke to you, so Yahweh will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you,

¹⁶ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายละเมิดพันธสัญญาแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่าน ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงบัญชาท่านไว้และไปปรนนิบัติพระอื่น และกราบลงนมัสการพระนั้น แล้วพระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์จะพลุ่งขึ้นต่อท่าน แล้วท่านจะพินาศไปอย่างรวดเร็วจากแผ่นดินที่ดี ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านประทานแก่ท่าน"

¹⁶when you disobey the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them. Then the anger of Yahweh will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you.”
