¹ต่อมาเมื่อประชาชนนั้นได้ข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดนเสร็จหมดแล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสสั่งโยชูวาว่า

¹It happened, when all the nation had completely passed over the Jordan, that Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

²"จงเลือกชายสิบสองคนจากประชาชนตระกูลละคน

²“Take twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

³และบัญชาเขาว่า `จงไปเอาศิลาสิบสองก้อนจากที่นี่ที่กลางแม่น้ำจอร์แดน ตรงที่ซึ่งเท้าของปุโรหิตยืนมั่นอยู่นั้น ขนมาวางไว้ในที่ซึ่งท่านทั้งหลายจะนอนในคืนวันนี้'"

³and command them, saying, ‘Take from out of the middle of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging place, where you will lodge tonight.’”

⁴แล้วโยชูวาก็เลือกชายสิบสองคน ซึ่งท่านจัดตั้งจากประชาชนอิสราเอลตระกูลละคน

⁴Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man.

⁵โยชูวาจึงสั่งเขาว่า "จงผ่านไปข้างหน้าหีบของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านลงไปกลางแม่น้ำจอร์แดน แล้วแบกศิลามาคนละก้อนตามจำนวนตระกูลคนอิสราเอล

⁵Joshua said to them, “Pass over before the ark of Yahweh your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each of you pick up a stone and put it on your shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel;

⁶เพื่อว่าสิ่งนี้จะเป็นหมายสำคัญในหมู่พวกท่านทั้งหลาย ในเมื่อลูกหลานของท่านจะถามบิดาในเวลาต่อไปว่า `ศิลาเหล่านี้มีความหมายอะไร'

⁶that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do you mean by these stones?’

⁷แล้วท่านจงตอบพวกเขาว่า `น้ำที่จอร์แดนขาดจากกันต่อหน้าหีบพันธสัญญาแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ เมื่อหีบนั้นข้ามแม่น้ำจอร์แดน น้ำในแม่น้ำจอร์แดนก็ขาดจากกัน ศิลาเหล่านี้จะเป็นที่รำลึกแก่ลูกหลานอิสราเอลเป็นนิตย์'"

⁷then you shall tell them, ‘Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.’”

⁸คนอิสราเอลเหล่านั้นก็กระทำตามที่โยชูวาบัญชา และขนหินสิบสองก้อนมาจากกลางจอร์แดน ตามจำนวนตระกูลคนอิสราเอล ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสสั่งโยชูวา และเขาก็แบกมายังที่ซึ่งเขาพักอยู่ วางไว้ที่นั่น

⁸The children of Israel did as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the middle of the Jordan, as Yahweh spoke to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel; and they carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

⁹และโยชูวาได้ตั้งศิลาสิบสองก้อนไว้กลางแม่น้ำจอร์แดน ตรงที่ที่เท้าของปุโรหิตผู้หามหีบพันธสัญญายืนอยู่ และศิลาเหล่านั้นก็ยังอยู่จนทุกวันนี้

⁹Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there to this day.

¹⁰เพราะว่าปุโรหิตผู้หามหีบนั้นได้ยืนอยู่ที่กลางจอร์แดนกว่าสิ่งสารพัดจะสำเร็จ ตามซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์บัญชาโยชูวาให้บอกประชาชน ตามซึ่งโมเสสได้บัญชาไว้กับโยชูวาทุกประการ แล้วประชาชนก็รีบข้ามไป

¹⁰For the priests who bore the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan, until everything was finished that Yahweh commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and passed over.

¹¹ต่อมาเมื่อประชาชนข้ามไปหมดแล้ว หีบแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์และปุโรหิตก็ข้ามไปต่อหน้าประชาชน

¹¹It happened, when all the people had completely passed over, that the ark of Yahweh passed over, with the priests, in the presence of the people.

¹²คนรูเบน คนกาด และคนมนัสเสห์ครึ่งตระกูลถืออาวุธนำหน้าคนอิสราเอลข้ามไปตามที่โมเสสได้สั่งเขาไว้

¹²The children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spoke to them.

¹³มีคนถืออาวุธไว้พร้อมที่จะเข้าสงครามประมาณสี่หมื่นคนได้ข้ามไปต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์เพื่อทำศึก ไปถึงที่ราบเขตเมืองเยรีโค

¹³About forty thousand men, ready and armed for war passed over before Yahweh to battle, to the plains of Jericho.

¹⁴ในวันนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงยกย่องโยชูวาท่ามกลางสายตาของคนอิสราเอลทั้งปวง เขาทั้งหลายก็ยำเกรงท่าน ดังที่เขาเคยยำเกรงโมเสสตลอดชีวิตของท่าน

¹⁴On that day, Yahweh magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

¹⁵พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโยชูวาว่า

¹⁵Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

¹⁶"จงบัญชาปุโรหิตผู้หามหีบพระโอวาทให้ขึ้นมาจากจอร์แดน"

¹⁶“Command the priests who bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of the Jordan.”

¹⁷โยชูวาจึงบัญชาแก่ปุโรหิตว่า "จงขึ้นมาจากจอร์แดนเถิด"

¹⁷Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, “Come up out of the Jordan!”

¹⁸ต่อมาเมื่อปุโรหิตผู้หามหีบพันธสัญญาแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ขึ้นมาจากกลางจอร์แดน เมื่อฝ่าเท้าของปุโรหิตยกขึ้นเหยียบแผ่นดินแห้ง น้ำในจอร์แดนก็กลับมายังที่เก่าไหลท่วมฝั่งอย่างเดิม

¹⁸It happened, when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Yahweh had come up out of the middle of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up to the dry ground, that the waters of the Jordan returned to their place, and went over all its banks, as before.

¹⁹ประชาชนได้ขึ้นจากจอร์แดนในวันที่สิบเดือนที่หนึ่ง ไปตั้งค่ายอยู่ที่กิลกาล ริมเขตเมืองเยรีโคข้างทิศตะวันออก

¹⁹The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, on the east border of Jericho.

²⁰และศิลาสิบสองก้อนซึ่งเขานำออกมาจากจอร์แดนนั้น โยชูวาก็ได้ตั้งไว้ที่กิลกาล

²⁰Joshua set up those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, in Gilgal.

²¹ท่านจึงกล่าวแก่คนอิสราเอลว่า "เวลาภายหน้าเมื่อลูกหลานจะถามบิดาของเขาว่า `ศิลาเหล่านี้มีความหมายอะไร'

²¹He spoke to the children of Israel, saying, “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean?’

²²แล้วท่านจงตอบแก่ลูกหลานให้ทราบว่า `อิสราเอลได้ข้ามจอร์แดนนี้บนดินแห้ง'

²²Then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

²³เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านทั้งหลายกระทำให้แม่น้ำจอร์แดนแห้งไปเพื่อท่าน จนท่านข้ามไปได้หมด ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านกระทำแก่ทะเลแดง ทรงกระทำให้แห้งเพื่อเราทั้งหลาย จนเราข้ามไปหมด

²³For Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you, until you had passed over, as Yahweh your God did to the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds , which he dried up from before us, until we had passed over;

²⁴เพื่อชนชาติทั้งหลายทั่วพิภพจะได้ทราบว่าพระหัตถ์พระเยโฮวาห์นั้นทรงฤทธิ์ เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะยำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของท่านเป็นนิตย์"

²⁴that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of Yahweh, that it is mighty; that you may fear Yahweh your God forever.’”
