¹ต่อมาเมื่อบรรดากษัตริย์ของคนอาโมไรต์ซึ่งอยู่ฟากจอร์แดนข้างตะวันตก และบรรดากษัตริย์ของคนคานาอัน ซึ่งอยู่ใกล้ทะเล ได้ยินว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงบันดาลให้น้ำในจอร์แดนแห้งไปต่อหน้าคนอิสราเอล ให้เราข้ามฟากไปได้หมดแล้ว จิตใจของเขาก็ละลายไป ไม่มีกำลังใจในตัวอีกต่อไปเหตุเพราะคนอิสราเอล

¹It happened, when all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how that Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we had passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

²คราวนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโยชูวาว่า "จงทำมีดด้วยหินคมและให้คนอิสราเอลเข้าสุหนัตเป็นครั้งที่สอง"

²At that time, Yahweh said to Joshua, “Make flint knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.”

³โยชูวาจึงทำมีดด้วยหินคมและให้คนอิสราเอลเข้าสุหนัตที่เนินเขาแห่งหนังหุ้มปลายองคชาต

³Joshua made himself flint knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.

⁴นี่แหละเป็นเหตุซึ่งโยชูวาให้เขาเข้าสุหนัต ในบรรดาประชาชนผู้ออกมาจากอียิปต์พวกผู้ชาย คือทหารทั้งหมดสิ้นชีวิตเสียตามทางในถิ่นทุรกันดารหลังจากที่ออกจากอียิปต์

⁴This is the reason Joshua circumcised: all the people who came out of Egypt, who were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.

⁵แม้ว่าประชาชนผู้ออกมาเหล่านั้นได้เข้าสุหนัตหมดทุกคนแล้ว แต่ประชาชนทุกคนที่เกิดมาใหม่ตามทางที่ในถิ่นทุรกันดารหลังจากที่ออกมาจากอียิปต์นั้น ยังไม่ได้เข้าสุหนัต

⁵For all the people who came out were circumcised; but all the people who were born in the wilderness by the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.

⁶เพราะว่าคนอิสราเอลเดินทางสี่สิบปีอยู่ในถิ่นทุรกันดารจนประชาชนทั้งสิ้น คือทหารที่ออกมาจากอียิปต์สิ้นชีวิตเสียหมด เพราะเขามิได้เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงของพระเยโฮวาห์ ผู้ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปฏิญาณกับเขาว่า พระองค์จะไม่ทรงยอมให้เขาเห็นแผ่นดิน ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ปฏิญาณแก่บรรพบุรุษว่าจะประทานแก่เราทั้งหลาย เป็นแผ่นดินที่มีน้ำนมและน้ำผึ้งไหลบริบูรณ์

⁶For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they didn’t listen to the voice of Yahweh. Yahweh swore to them that he wouldn’t let them see the land which Yahweh swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

⁷แต่บุตรของเขาซึ่งพระองค์ทรงให้แทนเขานั้น โยชูวาก็ได้ให้เข้าสุหนัต เพราะว่าเขายังไม่เข้าสุหนัต เพราะว่าเขาไม่เคยได้เข้าสุหนัตเมื่อมาตามทาง

⁷Their children, whom he raised up in their place, were circumcised by Joshua; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them on the way.

⁸ต่อมาเมื่อได้ให้ประชาชนเข้าสุหนัตเสร็จหมดแล้ว เขาก็พักอยู่ในที่อาศัยในค่ายจนกว่าจะหายเป็นปกติ

⁸It happened, when they were done circumcising all the nation, that they stayed in their places in the camp until they were healed.

⁹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโยชูวาว่า "วันนี้เราได้กลิ้งความอดสูเพราะอียิปต์ไปให้พ้นเจ้าแล้ว" จึงเรียกชื่อตำบลนั้นว่ากิลกาลจนทุกวันนี้

⁹Yahweh said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you.” Therefore the name of that place was called Gilgal, “Gilgal” sounds like the Hebrew for “roll.” to this day.

¹⁰ฝ่ายคนอิสราเอลได้ตั้งค่ายที่กิลกาล เขาถือเทศกาลปัสกาในวันที่สิบสี่ของเดือนนั้นเวลาเย็น ณ ที่ราบเมืองเยรีโค

¹⁰The children of Israel encamped in Gilgal. They kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho.

¹¹วันรุ่งขึ้นหลังวันเทศกาลปัสกา วันนั้นเองเขาก็รับประทานผลอันเกิดจากแผ่นดิน คือขนมไร้เชื้อและข้าวคั่ว

¹¹They ate unleavened cakes and parched grain of the produce of the land on the next day after the Passover, in the same day.

¹²ตั้งแต่วันรุ่งขึ้นมานาก็ขาดไป คือเมื่อเขาได้รับประทานผลจากแผ่นดิน คนอิสราเอลไม่มีมานาอีกเลย ในปีนั้นเขารับประทานผลจากแผ่นดินคานาอัน

¹²The manna ceased on the next day, after they had eaten of the produce of the land. The children of Israel didn’t have manna any more; but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

¹³ต่อมาเมื่อโยชูวาอยู่ข้างเมืองเยรีโค ท่านก็เงยหน้าขึ้นมองดู และดูเถิด มีชายคนหนึ่งชักดาบออกมาถือยืนอยู่ตรงหน้าท่าน โยชูวาเข้าไปหาชายนั้น กล่าวแก่เขาว่า "ท่านอยู่ฝ่ายเราหรืออยู่ฝ่ายศัตรู"

¹³It happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him, and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?”

¹⁴ผู้นั้นจึงตอบว่า "มิใช่ ที่เรามานี้ก็มาเป็นจอมพลโยธาของพระเยโฮวาห์" ฝ่ายโยชูวาก็กราบลงถึงดินนมัสการแล้วถามว่า "เจ้านายของข้าพเจ้าท่านจะให้ผู้รับใช้ของท่านกระทำอะไร"

¹⁴He said, “No; but I have come now as commander of Yahweh’s army.” Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshipped, and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?”

¹⁵และจอมพลโยธาของพระเยโฮวาห์จึงสั่งโยชูวาว่า "จงถอดรองเท้าออกจากเท้าของเจ้าเสีย เพราะว่าที่ซึ่งเจ้ายืนอยู่นี้เป็นที่บริสุทธิ์" โยชูวาก็กระทำตาม

¹⁵The prince of Yahweh’s army said to Joshua, “Take your shoes off of your feet; for the place on which you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.
