¹ฝ่ายทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งของพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ขึ้นไปจากกิลกาลถึงโบคิม และกล่าวว่า "เราได้ให้เจ้าทั้งหลายขึ้นไปจากอียิปต์ และได้นำเจ้าเข้ามาในแผ่นดินซึ่งเราปฏิญาณไว้แก่บรรพบุรุษของเจ้า และเรากล่าวว่า `เราจะไม่หักพันธสัญญาที่เราได้มีไว้กับเจ้าเลย

¹The angel of Yahweh came up from Gilgal to Bochim. He said, “I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you to the land which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you:

²และเจ้าทั้งหลายอย่าทำพันธสัญญากับชาวแผ่นดินนี้ เจ้าต้องทำลายแท่นบูชาของเขาเสีย' แต่เจ้ามิได้เชื่อฟังเสียงของเรา เจ้าทำอะไรเช่นนี้เล่า

²and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not listened to my voice: why have you done this?

³ฉะนั้นเรากล่าวด้วยว่า `เราจะไม่ขับไล่เขาเหล่านั้นออกไปให้พ้นหน้าเจ้า แต่เขาจะเป็นเช่นหนามอยู่ที่สีข้างของเจ้า และพระของเขาจะเป็นบ่วงดักเจ้า'"

³Therefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.”

⁴อยู่มาเมื่อทูตสวรรค์ของพระเยโฮวาห์กล่าวคำเหล่านี้แก่บรรดาคนอิสราเอลแล้วประชาชนก็ส่งเสียงร้องไห้

⁴It happened, when the angel of Yahweh spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

⁵และเขาเรียกที่ตำบลนั้นว่า โบคิม และเขาทั้งหลายได้ถวายสัตวบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ที่นั่น

⁵They called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there to Yahweh.

⁶เมื่อโยชูวาปล่อยประชาชนไปแล้วคนอิสราเอลต่างก็เข้าไปอยู่ในมรดกที่ดินของตนเพื่อยึดครอง

⁶Now when Joshua had sent the people away, the children of Israel went every man to his inheritance to possess the land.

⁷ประชาชนทั้งหลายได้ปรนนิบัติพระเยโฮวาห์ตลอดสมัยของโยชูวา และตลอดสมัยของพวกผู้ใหญ่ผู้มีอายุยืนนานกว่าโยชูวา ผู้ซึ่งได้เห็นปวงมหกิจซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ทรงกระทำเพื่ออิสราเอล

⁷The people served Yahweh all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of Yahweh that he had worked for Israel.

⁸โยชูวาบุตรชายนูนผู้รับใช้ของพระเยโฮวาห์สิ้นชีวิตเมื่ออายุได้หนึ่งร้อยสิบปี

⁸Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Yahweh, died, being one hundred ten years old.

⁹และเขาทั้งหลายก็ฝังท่านไว้ในที่ดินมรดกของท่านที่เมืองทิมนาทเสราห์ ในแดนเทือกเขาแห่งเอฟราอิม ทิศเหนือของยอดเขากาอัช

⁹They buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath Heres, in the hill country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.

¹⁰และยุครุ่นนั้นทั้งสิ้นก็ถูกรวบไปอยู่กับบรรพบุรุษของเขา อีกยุคหนึ่งก็เกิดขึ้นตามมา เขาไม่รู้จักพระเยโฮวาห์หรือรู้พระราชกิจซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำเพื่ออิสราเอล

¹⁰Also all that generation were gathered to their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, who didn’t know Yahweh, nor yet the work which he had worked for Israel.

¹¹คนอิสราเอลก็กระทำชั่วในสายพระเนตรของพระเยโฮวาห์ และปรนนิบัติพระบาอัล

¹¹The children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and served the Baals;

¹²เขาได้ละทิ้งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของเขา ผู้ทรงนำเขาออกมาจากแผ่นดินอียิปต์ และเขาทั้งหลายติดตามพระอื่นซึ่งเป็นพระของชนชาติทั้งหลายที่อยู่ล้อมรอบเขา กราบไหว้พระเหล่านั้น กระทำให้พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงพระพิโรธ

¹²and they forsook Yahweh, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed themselves down to them: and they provoked Yahweh to anger.

¹³เขาทั้งหลายละทิ้งพระเยโฮวาห์ไปปรนนิบัติพระบาอัล และพวกพระอัชทาโรท

¹³They forsook Yahweh, and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.

¹⁴ดังนั้นพระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์จึงพลุ่งขึ้นต่ออิสราเอล พระองค์จึงทรงมอบเขาไว้ในมือพวกปล้นผู้ปล้นเขา และทรงขายเขาไว้ในมือของบรรดาศัตรูที่อยู่รอบเขาทั้งหลาย ดังนั้นเขาทั้งหลายจึงต่อต้านพวกศัตรูของเขาทั้งหลยต่อไปไม่ได้

¹⁴The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers who despoiled them; and he sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

¹⁵เขาทั้งหลายออกไปรบเมื่อไร พระหัตถ์ของพระเยโฮวาห์ก็ต่อต้านเขา กระทำให้เขาพ่ายแพ้ ดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์ได้ตรัสไว้แล้ว และดังที่พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับเขา และเขาทั้งหลายก็มีความทุกข์ยิ่งนัก

¹⁵Wherever they went out, the hand of Yahweh was against them for evil, as Yahweh had spoken, and as Yahweh had sworn to them: and they were very distressed.

¹⁶อย่างไรก็ตามพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงให้เกิดผู้วินิจฉัย ผู้ช่วยเขาทั้งหลายให้พ้นมือของผู้ที่ปล้นเขา

¹⁶Yahweh raised up judges, who saved them out of the hand of those who despoiled them.

¹⁷แต่เขาทั้งหลายก็ยังไม่เชื่อฟังผู้วินิจฉัยทั้งหลายของเขา เพราะเขาทั้งหลายเล่นชู้กับพระอื่นและกราบไหว้พระอื่น ไม่ช้าเขาก็หันไปเสียจากทางซึ่งบรรพบุรุษของเขาได้ดำเนิน ผู้ได้เชื่อฟังพระบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์ แต่เขาทั้งหลายมิได้กระทำตาม

¹⁷Yet they didn’t listen to their judges; for they played the prostitute after other gods, and bowed themselves down to them: they turned aside quickly out of the way in which their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of Yahweh. They didn’t do so.

¹⁸พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงตั้งผู้วินิจฉัยขึ้นเมื่อไร พระเยโฮวาห์ก็ทรงสถิตกับผู้วินิจฉัยนั้นเมื่อนั้น และพระองค์ทรงช่วยเขาทั้งหลายให้พ้นจากเงื้อมมือของศัตรูตลอดชีวิตของผู้วินิจฉัยนั้น เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงกลับพระทัยสงสารเขาทั้งหลาย เมื่อทรงฟังเสียงคร่ำครวญของเขาเนื่องด้วยผู้ข่มเหงและบีบบังคับ

¹⁸When Yahweh raised them up judges, then Yahweh was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it grieved Yahweh because of their groaning by reason of those who oppressed them and troubled them.

¹⁹แต่อยู่มาเมื่อผู้วินิจฉัยนั้นสิ้นชีวิต เขาทั้งหลายก็หันกลับประพฤติชั่วร้ายเสียยิ่งกว่าบิดาของเขา หลงไปติดตามปรนนิบัติและกราบไหว้พระอื่น เขามิได้เคยงดเว้นการกระทำของเขาหรือหายจากทางดื้อดึงของเขา

¹⁹But it happened, when the judge was dead, that they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them; they didn’t cease from their doings, nor from their stubborn way.

²⁰ดังนั้นพระพิโรธของพระเยโฮวาห์จึงพลุ่งขึ้นต่ออิสราเอล และพระองค์ตรัสว่า "เพราะประชาชนนี้ได้ละเมิดต่อพันธสัญญา ซึ่งเราได้บัญชาไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของเขา และไม่ยอมฟังเสียงของเรา

²⁰The anger of Yahweh was kindled against Israel; and he said, “Because this nation have transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not listened to my voice;

²¹ดังนั้นตั้งแต่นี้ต่อไปเราจะไม่ขับไล่ประชาชาติใดในบรรดาประชาชาติซึ่งโยชูวาทิ้งไว้เมื่อเขาสิ้นชีวิตนั้นให้พ้นหน้า

²¹I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations that Joshua left when he died;

²²เพื่อเราจะใช้ประชาชาติเหล่านั้นทั้งสิ้นทดสอบอิสราเอลว่า เขาจะรักษาพระมรรคาของพระเยโฮวาห์และดำเนินตามอย่างบรรพบุรุษของเขาหรือไม่"

²²that by them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of Yahweh to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.”

²³ดังนั้นพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงปล่อยประชาชาติเหล่านั้นไว้ ไม่ทรงขับไล่ให้ออกไปเสียโดยเร็ว และพระองค์มิได้ทรงมอบเขาทั้งหลายไว้ในมือของโยชูวา

²³So Yahweh left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
