¹อยู่มาเมื่อโยชูวาสิ้นชีพแล้ว คนอิสราเอลทูลถามพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "ใครในพวกข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายจะขึ้นไปก่อนเพื่อสู้รบกับคนคานาอัน"

¹It happened after the death of Joshua, the children of Israel asked of Yahweh, “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. saying, “Who should go up for us first against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”

²พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "ยูดาห์จะขึ้นไป ดูเถิด เราได้มอบแผ่นดินนั้นไว้ในมือเขาแล้ว"

²Yahweh said, “Judah shall go up. Behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.”

³ยูดาห์จึงพูดกับสิเมโอนพี่ของตนว่า "จงขึ้นไปกับฉันในเขตแดนที่กำหนดให้แก่ฉัน เพื่อเราจะได้รบสู้กับคนคานาอัน และฉันจะไปร่วมรบในเขตแดนที่กำหนดให้แก่ท่านนั้นด้วย" สิเมโอนก็ไปกับเขา

³Judah said to Simeon his brother, “Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your lot.” So Simeon went with him.

⁴แล้วยูดาห์ก็ขึ้นไป และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงมอบคนคานาอันและคนเปริสซีไว้ในมือของเขา และเขาก็ประหารคนที่เมืองเบเซกหนึ่งหมื่นคน

⁴Judah went up; and Yahweh delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they struck of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

⁵และเขาทั้งหลายพบอาโดนีเบเซกในเมืองเบเซก และสู้รบกับท่าน เขาได้ประหารคนคานาอันและคนเปริสซี

⁵They found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek; and they fought against him, and they struck the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

⁶อาโดนีเบเซกหนีไป แต่พวกเขาตามจับได้และได้ตัดนิ้วหัวแม่มือ และนิ้วหัวแม่เท้าของท่านออกเสีย

⁶But Adoni-Bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

⁷Adoni-Bezek said, “Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, scavenged under my table: as I have done, so God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” has requited me.” They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

⁸และคนยูดาห์ได้เข้าโจมตีเมืองเยรูซาเล็มและยึดเมืองได้ จึงฆ่าฟันชาวเมืองเสียด้วยคมดาบ และเอาไฟเผาเมืองเสีย

⁸The children of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

⁹ภายหลังคนยูดาห์ได้ลงไปสู้รบกับคนคานาอันผู้ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในแดนเทือกเขา ในภาคใต้ และในหุบเขา

⁹Afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who lived in the hill country, and in the South, and in the lowland.

¹⁰และยูดาห์ได้ไปสู้รบกับคนคานาอันผู้อยู่ในเฮโบรน (เมืองเฮโบรนนั้นแต่ก่อนมีชื่อว่าคีริยาทอารบา) และเขาทั้งหลายได้ประหารเชชัย อาหิมาน และทัลมัย

¹⁰Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron (now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba); and they struck Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

¹¹เขาทั้งหลายยกจากที่นั่นไปสู้รบกับชาวเมืองเดบีร์ เมืองเดบีร์นั้นแต่ก่อนมีชื่อว่าคีริยาทเสเฟอร์

¹¹From there he went against the inhabitants of Debir. (Now the name of Debir before was Kiriath Sepher.)

¹²และคาเลบกล่าวว่า "ใครโจมตีเมืองคีริยาทเสเฟอร์และยึดได้ เราจะยกอัคสาห์บุตรสาวของเราให้เป็นภรรยา"

¹²Caleb said, “He who strikes Kiriath Sepher, and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.”

¹³และโอทนีเอลบุตรชายเคนัส น้องชายของคาเลบตีเมืองนั้นได้ ท่านจึงยกอัคสาห์บุตรสาวของตนให้เป็นภรรยา

¹³Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.

¹⁴อยู่มาเมื่อแต่งงานกันแล้วนางจึงชวนสามีให้ขอที่นาต่อบิดา นางก็ลงจากหลังลา และคาเลบถามนางว่า "เจ้าต้องการอะไร"

¹⁴It happened, when she came, that she got him to ask her father for a field: and she alighted from off her donkey; and Caleb said to her, “What would you like?”

¹⁵นางจึงตอบท่านว่า "ขอของขวัญให้ลูกสักอย่างหนึ่งเถิด เมื่อพ่อให้ลูกมาอยู่ในแผ่นดินภาคใต้แล้ว ลูกขอน้ำพุด้วย" และคาเลบก็ยกน้ำพุบนและน้ำพุล่างให้แก่นาง

¹⁵She said to him, “Give me a blessing; for that you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water.” Then Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

¹⁶คนเคไนต์พ่อตาของโมเสสได้ขึ้นไปจากเมืองดงอินทผลัม พร้อมกับคนยูดาห์มาถึงถิ่นทุรกันดารยูดาห์ซึ่งอยู่ในภาคใต้ใกล้อาราด และเขาก็เข้าไปตั้งอยู่กับชนชาตินั้น

¹⁶The children of the Kenite, Moses’ brother-in-law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the south of Arad; and they went and lived with the people.

¹⁷และยูดาห์ก็ยกไปร่วมกับสิเมโอนพี่ของเขาประหารคนคานาอันซึ่งอยู่ในเมืองเศฟัทและทำลายเมืองนั้นเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง ชื่อเมืองนั้นจึงเรียกว่าโฮรมาห์

¹⁷Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they struck the Canaanites who inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. The name of the city was called Hormah.

¹⁸ยูดาห์ได้ยึดเมืองกาซาพร้อมทั้งอาณาเขต และเมืองอัชเคโลนพร้อมทั้งอาณาเขต และเมืองเอโครนพร้อมทั้งอาณาเขตไว้ด้วย

¹⁸Also Judah took Gaza with its border, and Ashkelon with its border, and Ekron with its border.

¹⁹และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถิตกับยูดาห์ เขาจึงขับไล่ชาวแดนเทือกเขาออกไป แต่จะขับไล่ชาวเมืองที่อยู่ในหุบเขานั้นไม่ได้ เพราะพวกเหล่านั้นมีรถรบเหล็ก

¹⁹Yahweh was with Judah; and drove out the inhabitants of the hill country; for he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

²⁰เมืองเฮโบรนนั้นเขายกให้คาเลบดังที่โมเสสได้กล่าวไว้ คาเลบจึงขับไล่บุตรชายทั้งสามคนของอานาคออกไปเสีย

²⁰They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had spoken: and he drove out there the three sons of Anak.

²¹แต่คนเบนยามินมิได้ขับไล่คนเยบุสผู้อยู่ในเยรูซาเล็มให้ออกไป ดังนั้นคนเยบุสจึงอาศัยอยู่กับคนเบนยามินในเยรูซาเล็มจนถึงทุกวันนี้

²¹The children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

²²อนึ่งวงศ์วานของโยเซฟได้ขึ้นไปสู้รบเมืองเบธเอลด้วย และพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงสถิตกับพวกเขา

²²The house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel; and Yahweh was with them.

²³วงศ์วานโยเซฟได้ใช้คนไปสอดแนมเมืองเบธเอล (แต่ก่อนเมืองนี้ชื่อ ลูส)

²³The house of Joseph sent to spy out Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)

²⁴และผู้สอดแนมเห็นชายคนหนึ่งเดินออกมาจากเมือง จึงพูดกับเขาว่า "ขอชี้ทางเข้าเมืองนี้ให้แก่เรา และเราจะปรานีเจ้า"

²⁴The watchers saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said to him, “Please show us the entrance into the city, and we will deal kindly with you.”

²⁵ชายคนนั้นก็ชี้ทางเข้าเมืองให้และเขาประหารเมืองนั้น ทำลายเสียด้วยคมดาบ แต่เขาปล่อยให้ชายคนนั้นและครอบครัวทั้งสิ้นของเขารอดไป

²⁵He showed them the entrance into the city; and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man go and all his family.

²⁶ชายคนนั้นก็เข้าไปในแผ่นดินของคนฮิตไทต์และสร้างเมืองขึ้นเมืองหนึ่ง เรียกชื่อว่าเมืองลูส ซึ่งเป็นชื่ออยู่จนทุกวันนี้

²⁶The man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day.

²⁷มนัสเสห์มิได้ขับไล่ชาวเมืองเบธชานและชาวชนบทของเมืองนั้นให้ออกไป หรือชาวเมืองทาอานาคกับชาวชนบทของเมืองนั้น หรือชาวเมืองโดร์กับชาวชนบทของเมืองนั้น หรือชาวเมืองอิบเลอัมกับชาวชนบทของเมืองนั้น หรือชาวเมืองเมกิดโดกับชาวชนบทของเมืองนั้น แต่คนคานาอันยังขืนอาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินนั้น

²⁷Manasseh did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shean and its towns, nor Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

²⁸อยู่มาเมื่อคนอิสราเอลมีกำลังเข้มแข็งขึ้นก็บังคับคนคานาอันให้ทำงานโยธา แต่มิได้ขับไล่ให้เขาออกไปเสียอย่างสิ้นเชิง

²⁸It happened, when Israel had grown strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and did not utterly drive them out.

²⁹และเอฟราอิมมิได้ขับไล่คนคานาอันผู้อาศัยอยู่ในเมืองเกเซอร์ให้ออกไป แต่คนคานาอันยังอาศัยอยู่ในเมืองเกเซอร์ท่ามกลางเขา

²⁹Ephraim didn’t drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer; but the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.

³⁰เศบูลุนมิได้ขับไล่ชาวเมืองคิทโรน หรือชาวเมืองนาหะโลล แต่คนคานาอันได้อาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางเขาและถูกเกณฑ์ให้ทำงานโยธา

³⁰Zebulun didn’t drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites lived among them, and became subject to forced labor.

³¹อาเชอร์มิได้ขับไล่ชาวเมืองอัคโค หรือชาวเมืองไซดอน หรือชาวเมืองอัคลาบ หรือชาวเมืองอัคซิบ หรือชาวเมืองเฮลบาห์ หรือชาวเมืองอาฟิก หรือชาวเมืองเรโหบ

³¹Asher didn’t drive out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob;

³²แต่คนอาเชอร์ได้อาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางคนคานาอันชาวแผ่นดินนั้น เพราะว่าเขาทั้งหลายมิได้ขับไล่ให้ออกไปเสีย

³²but the Asherites lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.

³³นัฟทาลีมิได้ขับไล่ชาวเมืองเบธเชเมช หรือชาวเมืองเบธานาท แต่อาศัยอยู่ในหมู่คนคานาอันชาวแผ่นดินนั้น แต่อย่างไรก็ดีชาวเมืองเบธเชเมช และชาวเมืองเบธานาทก็ถูกเกณฑ์ให้ทำงานโยธา

³³Naphtali didn’t drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth Anath; but he lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and of Beth Anath became subject to forced labor.

³⁴คนอาโมไรต์ได้ขับดันคนดานให้กลับเข้าไปในแดนเทือกเขา ไม่ยอมให้ลงมายังหุบเขา

³⁴The Amorites forced the children of Dan into the hill country; for they would not allow them to come down to the valley;

³⁵คนอาโมไรต์ยังขืนอาศัยอยู่ที่ภูเขาเฮเรสในเมืองอัยยาโลน และในเมืองชาอัลบิม แต่มือของวงศ์วานโยเซฟเหนือกว่ามือเขาทั้งหลาย เขาจึงถูกเกณฑ์ให้ทำงานโยธา

³⁵but the Amorites would dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became subject to forced labor.

³⁶อาณาเขตของคนอาโมไรต์ตั้งต้นแต่ทางข้ามเขาอัครับบิมตั้งแต่ศิลาเรื่อยขึ้นไป

³⁶The border of the Amorites was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
