¹คนอิสราเอลทั้งหมดตั้งแต่ดานถึงเบเออร์เชบา ทั้งแผ่นดินกิเลอาดก็ออกมา ชุมนุมชนนั้นได้ประชุมกันเป็นใจเดียวกันต่อพระเยโฮวาห์ที่เมืองมิสปาห์

¹Then all the children of Israel went out, and the congregation was assembled as one man, from Dan even to Beersheba, with the land of Gilead, to Yahweh at Mizpah.

²หัวหน้าประชาชนทั้งสิ้นคือของตระกูลคนอิสราเอลทั้งหมด เข้ามาปรากฏตัวในที่ประชุมแห่งประชาชนของพระเจ้า มีทหารราบถือดาบสี่แสนคน

²The chiefs of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen who drew sword.

³(ครั้งนั้นคนเบนยามินได้ยินว่าคนอิสราเอลได้ขึ้นไปยังมิสปาห์) ประชาชนอิสราเอลกล่าวว่า "ขอบอกเรามาว่า เรื่องชั่วร้ายนี้เกิดขึ้นมาอย่างไรกัน"

³(Now the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel had gone up to Mizpah.) The children of Israel said, “Tell us, how did this wickedness happen?”

⁴คนเลวีซึ่งเป็นสามีของหญิงผู้ที่ถูกฆ่านั้นกล่าวตอบว่า "ข้าพเจ้าและภรรยาน้อยของข้าพเจ้ามาถึงเมืองกิเบอาห์ซึ่งเป็นของคนเบนยามิน เพื่อจะค้างคืนที่นั่น

⁴The Levite, the husband of the woman who was murdered, answered, “I came into Gibeah that belongs to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.

⁵เวลากลางคืนผู้ชายในเมืองกิเบอาห์ก็ลุกขึ้นล้อมบ้านที่ข้าพเจ้าพักอยู่ เขาหมายจะฆ่าข้าพเจ้าเสีย เขาข่มขืนภรรยาน้อยของข้าพเจ้าจนตาย

⁵The men of Gibeah rose against me, and surrounded the house by night. They thought to have slain me, and they forced my concubine, and she is dead.

⁶ข้าพเจ้าจึงนำศพภรรยาน้อยของข้าพเจ้ามาฟันออกเป็นท่อนๆ ส่งไปทั่วประเทศที่เป็นมรดกของอิสราเอล เพราะพวกเขาได้กระทำการลามกและความโง่เขลาในอิสราเอล

⁶I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have committed lewdness and folly in Israel.

⁷ดูเถิด ท่านผู้เป็นคนอิสราเอลทั้งหลาย จงให้คำปรึกษาและความเห็น ณ ที่นี่เถิด"

⁷Behold, you children of Israel, all of you, give here your advice and counsel.”

⁸ประชาชนทุกคนก็ลุกขึ้นกล่าวเป็นใจเดียวกันว่า "พวกเราจะไม่กลับไปเต็นท์ของเรา เราจะไม่กลับไปเรือนของเรา

⁸All the people arose as one man, saying, “None of us will go to his tent, neither will any of us turn to his house.

⁹แต่บัดนี้เราจะกระทำกับกิเบอาห์ดังนี้ เราจะจับสลากยกขึ้นไปสู้รบกับเขา

⁹But now this is the thing which we will do to Gibeah: we will go up against it by lot;

¹⁰เราจะเลือกคนอิสราเอลทุกตระกูลคัดเอาร้อยละสิบคน พันละร้อย หมื่นละพัน ให้ไปหาเสบียงอาหารมาให้ประชาชน เพื่อเขาทั้งหลายจะตอบสนองบรรดาความโง่เขลาซึ่งพวกกิเบอาห์กระทำขึ้นในอิสราเอล เมื่อเขาทั้งหลายมาถึงเมืองกิเบอาห์ของคนเบนยามิน"

¹⁰and we will take ten men of one hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and one hundred of one thousand, and a thousand out of ten thousand, to get food for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly that they have worked in Israel.”

¹¹คนอิสราเอลทั้งปวงก็ร่วมยกไปสู้เมืองนั้นเป็นพรรคพวกใจเดียวกัน

¹¹So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.

¹²ตระกูลคนอิสราเอลก็ส่งคนไปทั่วตระกูลคนเบนยามินบอกว่า "ทำไมการชั่วช้านี้จึงเกิดขึ้นมาได้ในหมู่พวกท่าน

¹²The tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, “What wickedness is this that is happen among you?

¹³เหตุฉะนั้นบัดนี้จงมอบชายคนอันธพาลในเมืองกิเบอาห์มาให้เราประหารชีวิตเสียจะได้กำจัดความชั่วเสียจากคนอิสราเอล" แต่คนเบนยามินไม่ยอมฟังเสียงคนอิสราเอลพี่น้องของตน

¹³Now therefore deliver up the men, the base fellows, who are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel.” But Benjamin would not listen to the voice of their brothers the children of Israel.

¹⁴คนเบนยามินก็ออกมาจากบรรดาหัวเมืองเข้าไปสู่กิเบอาห์พร้อมกันเพื่อยกออกไปกระทำสงครามกับคนอิสราเอล

¹⁴The children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.

¹⁵คราวนั้นคนเบนยามินรวมจำนวนทหารถือดาบออกจากบรรดาหัวเมืองได้สองหมื่นหกพันคน นอกจากชาวเมืองกิเบอาห์ ซึ่งนับทหารที่คัดเลือกแล้วได้เจ็ดร้อยคน

¹⁵The children of Benjamin were numbered on that day out of the cities twenty-six thousand men who drew the sword, besides the inhabitants of Gibeah, who were numbered seven hundred chosen men.

¹⁶ในจำนวนทั้งหมดนี้มีคนที่คัดเลือกแล้วเจ็ดร้อยคนถนัดมือซ้ายทุกคนเอาสลิงเหวี่ยงก้อนหินให้ถูกเส้นผมได้ไม่ผิดเลย

¹⁶Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men left-handed; everyone could sling stones at a hair-breadth, and not miss.

¹⁷จำนวนคนอิสราเอลที่ถือดาบ ไม่นับคนเบนยามิน ได้สี่แสนคน เหล่านี้เป็นทหารทุกคน

¹⁷The men of Israel, besides Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men who drew sword: all these were men of war.

¹⁸คนอิสราเอลก็ลุกขึ้นไปยังพระนิเวศของพระเจ้า และทูลถามพระเจ้าว่า "ผู้ใดในพวกข้าพระองค์ที่จะขึ้นไปสู้รบกับคนเบนยามินก่อน" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "ให้ยูดาห์ขึ้นไปก่อน"

¹⁸The children of Israel arose, and went up to Bethel, and asked counsel of God; and they said, “Who shall go up for us first to battle against the children of Benjamin?” Yahweh said, “Judah first.”

¹⁹รุ่งเช้าคนอิสราเอลก็ลุกขึ้นตั้งค่ายต่อสู้เมืองกิเบอาห์

¹⁹The children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gibeah.

²⁰คนอิสราเอลออกไปสู้รบกับคนเบนยามิน และคนอิสราเอลได้วางพลเรียงรายต่อสู้เขาที่เมืองกิเบอาห์

²⁰The men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel set the battle in array against them at Gibeah.

²¹ในวันนั้นคนเบนยามินออกมาจากเมืองกิเบอาห์ ฆ่าฟันคนอิสราเอล ล้มตายสองหมื่นสองพันคน

²¹The children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites on that day twenty-two thousand men.

²²แต่ประชาชนคือผู้ชายชาวอิสราเอลยังหนุนใจกันและวางพลเรียงรายอีกครั้งในที่ซึ่งเขาวางพลในวันแรก

²²The people, the men of Israel, encouraged themselves, and set the battle again in array in the place where they set themselves in array the first day.

²³(และคนอิสราเอลก็ขึ้นไปร้องไห้คร่ำครวญต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์จนถึงเวลาเย็น เขาทั้งหลายทูลถามพระเยโฮวาห์ว่า "สมควรที่ข้าพระองค์จะเข้าประชิดรบกับคนเบนยามินพี่น้องของข้าพระองค์อีกหรือไม่" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "ไปสู้เขาเถิด")

²³The children of Israel went up and wept before Yahweh until evening; and they asked of Yahweh, saying, “Shall I again draw near to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother?” Yahweh said, “Go up against him.”

²⁴คนอิสราเอลจึงยกเข้าประชิดคนเบนยามินในวันที่สอง

²⁴The children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.

²⁵และในวันที่สองนั้นเบนยามินก็ยกออกไปจากกิเบอาห์ ฆ่าฟันคนอิสราเอลล้มตายอีกหนึ่งหมื่นแปดพันคน ทุกคนเป็นทหารถือดาบ

²⁵Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.

²⁶แล้วบรรดาคนอิสราเอลคือกองทัพทั้งหมดได้ขึ้นไปที่พระนิเวศของพระเจ้าและร้องไห้คร่ำครวญ เขานั่งเฝ้าพระเยโฮวาห์ ณ ที่นั่น และอดอาหารจนเวลาเย็น ถวายเครื่องเผาบูชาและสันติบูชาต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์

²⁶Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came to Bethel, and wept, and sat there before Yahweh, and fasted that day until evening; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Yahweh.

²⁷คนอิสราเอลจึงทูลถามพระเยโฮวาห์ (เพราะในสมัยนั้น หีบพันธสัญญาของพระเจ้าอยู่ที่นั่น

²⁷The children of Israel asked of Yahweh (for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

²⁸และฟีเนหัสบุตรชายเอเลอาซาร์ ผู้เป็นบุตรชายอาโรน ก็ปรนนิบัติอยู่หน้าหีบนั้นในสมัยนั้น) เขาทูลถามว่า "สมควรที่ข้าพระองค์จะยังยกไปสู้รบกับเบนยามินพี่น้องของข้าพระองค์อีกครั้งหนึ่ง หรือควรจะหยุดเสีย" และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "จงยกขึ้นไปเถิด เพราะว่าพรุ่งนี้เราจะมอบเขาไว้ในมือของเจ้า"

²⁸and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, “Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease?” Yahweh said, “Go up; for tomorrow I will deliver him into your hand.”

²⁹ดังนั้น อิสราเอลจึงซุ่มคนไว้รอบเมืองกิเบอาห์

²⁹Israel set ambushes all around Gibeah.

³⁰และประชาชนอิสราเอลก็ขึ้นไปสู้รบกับคนเบนยามินในวันที่สาม และวางพลเรียงรายต่อสู้เมืองกิเบอาห์อย่างคราวก่อน

³⁰The children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and set themselves in array against Gibeah, as at other times.

³¹คนเบนยามินก็ยกออกมาสู้รบกับประชาชน ถูกลวงให้ห่างออกไปจากตัวเมือง เขาก็เริ่มฆ่าฟันประชาชนอย่างคราวก่อน คือตามถนนซึ่งสายหนึ่งไปยังพระนิเวศของพระเจ้า อีกสายหนึ่งไปกิเบอาห์ และที่กลางทุ่งแจ้ง อิสราเอลล้มตายประมาณสามสิบคน

³¹The children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city; and they began to strike and kill of the people, as at other times, in the highways, of which one goes up to Bethel, and the other to Gibeah, in the field, about thirty men of Israel.

³²คนเบนยามินกล่าวกันว่า "เขาแพ้เราอย่างคราวก่อน" แต่คนอิสราเอลว่า "ให้เราถอย นำเขาออกห่างจากเมืองไปถึงถนนหลวง"

³²The children of Benjamin said, “They are struck down before us, as at the first.” But the children of Israel said, “Let us flee, and draw them away from the city to the highways.”

³³คนอิสราเอลทั้งหมดก็ลุกออกจากที่ของตนเรียงรายเข้าไปที่บาอัลทามาร์ ส่วนคนอิสราเอลที่คอยซุ่มอยู่ก็ออกจากที่ของตนคือออกจากทุ่งหญ้าแห่งเมืองกิเบอาห์

³³All the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and set themselves in array at Baal Tamar: and the ambushers of Israel broke forth out of their place, even out of Maareh Geba.

³⁴จากบรรดาคนอิสราเอลมีทหารที่คัดเลือกแล้วหนึ่งหมื่นคนรุกเข้าเมืองกิเบอาห์ การสงครามกำลังทรหด คนเบนยามินไม่ทราบว่าเหตุร้ายกำลังมาใกล้ตนแล้ว

³⁴There came over against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was severe; but they didn’t know that evil was close on them.

³⁵พระเยโฮวาห์ทรงให้คนเบนยามินพ่ายแพ้คนอิสราเอล ในวันนั้นคนอิสราเอลทำลายคนเบนยามินเสียสองหมื่นห้าพันหนึ่งร้อยคน ทุกคนเหล่านี้เป็นทหารถือดาบ

³⁵Yahweh struck Benjamin before Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of Benjamin that day twenty-five thousand one hundred men: all these drew the sword.

³⁶ดังนั้นคนเบนยามินจึงเห็นว่าเขาแพ้แล้ว คนอิสราเอลทำเป็นล่าถอยต่อเบนยามิน เพราะเขาวางใจคนที่เขาให้ซุ่มอยู่รอบเมืองกิเบอาห์

³⁶So the children of Benjamin saw that they were struck; for the men of Israel gave place to Benjamin, because they trusted the ambushers whom they had set against Gibeah.

³⁷คนที่ซุ่มอยู่ก็รีบรุกเข้าไปในเมืองกิเบอาห์ ทหารที่ซุ่มอยู่นั้นก็รุกออกมาประหารเมืองทั้งหมดนั้นเสียด้วยคมดาบ

³⁷The ambushers hurried, and rushed on Gibeah; and the ambushers drew themselves along, and struck all the city with the edge of the sword.

³⁸คนอิสราเอลและคนที่ซุ่มซ่อนอยู่นัดให้อาณัติสัญญาณว่า ถ้าเห็นควันกลุ่มใหญ่พลุ่งขึ้นมาจากในเมือง

³⁸Now the appointed sign between the men of Israel and the ambushers was that they should make a great cloud of smoke rise up out of the city.

³⁹ก็ให้คนอิสราเอลหันกลับเข้ามารบ ฝ่ายเบนยามินได้เริ่มฆ่าคนอิสราเอลได้สักสามสิบคนก็พูดว่า "เขาต้องล้มตายต่อหน้าเราอย่างคราวก่อนแน่แล้ว"

³⁹The men of Israel turned in the battle, and Benjamin began to strike and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons; for they said, “Surely they are struck down before us, as in the first battle.”

⁴⁰แต่อาณัติสัญญาณเป็นควันไฟลุกพลุ่งขึ้นมาจากในเมือง คนเบนยามินก็เหลียวหลังมาดู ดูเถิด ทั้งเมืองก็มีควันพลุ่งขึ้นถึงท้องฟ้า

⁴⁰But when the cloud began to arise up out of the city in a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them; and behold, the whole of the city went up in smoke to the sky.

⁴¹คนอิสราเอลก็หันกลับ คนเบนยามินก็ท้อแท้ เพราะเขาเห็นว่าเหตุร้ายมาใกล้เขาแล้ว

⁴¹The men of Israel turned, and the men of Benjamin were dismayed; for they saw that evil had come on them.

⁴²เขาจึงหันหลังให้คนอิสราเอลหนีเข้าไปทางถิ่นทุรกันดาร แต่สงครามติดตามเขาไปอย่างหนัก คนที่ออกมาจากเมืองก็ทำลายเขาที่อยู่ท่ามกลาง

⁴²Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel to the way of the wilderness; but the battle followed hard after them; and those who came out of the cities destroyed them in its midst.

⁴³เขาทั้งหลายล้อมคนเบนยามิน และขับไล่เขาไปและชนะเขาอย่างง่าย จนไปถึงที่ตรงข้ามเมืองกิเบอาห์ทางดวงอาทิตย์ขึ้น

⁴³They surrounded the Benjamites, chased them, and trod them down at their resting place, as far as over against Gibeah toward the sunrise.

⁴⁴คนเบนยามินล้มตายหนึ่งหมื่นแปดพันคน ทุกคนเป็นทแกล้วทหาร

⁴⁴There fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men; all these were men of valor.

⁴⁵เขาก็หันกลับหนีเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารถึงศิลาริมโมน คนอิสราเอลฆ่าเขาตายตามถนนหลวงห้าพันคน และติดตามอย่างกระชั้นชิดไปถึงกิโดม และฆ่าเขาตายสองพันคน

⁴⁵They turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon: and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men, and followed hard after them to Gidom, and struck of them two thousand men.

⁴⁶คนเบนยามินที่ล้มตายในวันนั้น เป็นทหารถือดาบสองหมื่นห้าพันคน ทุกคนเป็นทแกล้วทหาร

⁴⁶So that all who fell that day of Benjamin were twenty-five thousand men who drew the sword; all these were men of valor.

⁴⁷แต่มีทหารหกร้อยคนหันกลับหนีเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารถึงศิลาริมโมน และไปอาศัยอยู่ที่ศิลาริมโมนสี่เดือน

⁴⁷But six hundred men turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and stayed in the rock of Rimmon four months.

⁴⁸คนอิสราเอลก็หันกลับไปสู้คนเบนยามินอีก และได้ประหารเขาเสียด้วยคมดาบ ทั้งชาวเมืองและฝูงสัตว์และบรรดาสิ่งที่เขาเห็น ยิ่งกว่านั้นบรรดาเมืองที่เขาพบเขาก็เอาไฟเผาเสียทั้งหมด

⁴⁸The men of Israel turned again on the children of Benjamin, and struck them with the edge of the sword, both the entire city, and the livestock, and all that they found: moreover all the cities which they found they set on fire.
