¹พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า "จงกล่าวแก่บรรดาปุโรหิต คือลูกหลานของอาโรนและสั่งเขาว่า อย่าให้ผู้ใดกระทำตัวให้มลทินด้วยเรื่องศพในหมู่ประชาชน

¹Yahweh said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them, ‘A priest shall not defile himself for the dead among his people;

²เว้นแต่ญาติที่สนิทที่สุดคือ มารดา บิดา บุตรชายหญิง พี่ชายน้องชาย

²except for his relatives that are near to him: for his mother, for his father, for his son, for his daughter, for his brother,

³หรือพี่สาวน้องสาวพรหมจารี ผู้ที่ยังสนิทกับเขา เพราะเธอยังไม่มีสามี เขาจึงยอมตัวเป็นมลทินเพราะเธอได้

³and for his virgin sister who is near to him, who has had no husband; for her he may defile himself.

⁴อย่าให้เขามีมลทินคือกระทำให้ตนเองเป็นมลทิน เพราะเหตุเขาเป็นผู้ใหญ่ในหมู่ชนชาติของเขา

⁴He shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

⁵ห้ามมิให้เขาทั้งหลายโกนศีรษะ หรือกันริมเครา หรือเชือดเนื้อตัวเอง

⁵“‘They shall not shave their heads, neither shall they shave off the corners of their beards, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

⁶พวกปุโรหิตต้องเป็นคนบริสุทธิ์ต่อพระเจ้าของตน และไม่กระทำให้พระนามของพระเจ้าเป็นที่เหยียดหยาม เพราะเขาทั้งหลายถวายเครื่องบูชาด้วยไฟแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ และพระกระยาหารแห่งพระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลาย เพราะฉะนั้นเขาทั้งหลายจึงต้องบริสุทธิ์

⁶They shall be holy to their God, and not profane the name of their God; for they offer the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.

⁷ปุโรหิตจะแต่งงานกับหญิงโสเภณีหรือหญิงที่มีมลทินไม่ได้ หรือจะแต่งงานกับหญิงที่หย่าจากสามีก็ไม่ได้ เพราะปุโรหิตจะต้องบริสุทธิ์แด่พระเจ้าของเขา

⁷“‘They shall not marry a woman who is a prostitute, or profane; neither shall they marry a woman divorced from her husband: for he is holy to his God.

⁸เจ้าจงชำระเขาให้บริสุทธิ์ เพราะเขาถวายพระกระยาการแห่งพระเจ้าของเจ้า เขาจะต้องบริสุทธิ์สำหรับเจ้า เพราะเราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้ชำระเจ้าทั้งหลายให้บริสุทธิ์ เราบริสุทธิ์

⁸You shall sanctify him therefore; for he offers the bread of your God: he shall be holy to you: for I Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.

⁹บุตรสาวของปุโรหิตคนใด ถ้าเธอกระทำตัวให้มลทินโดยไปเป็นหญิงโสเภณีก็กระทำให้บิดาเป็นมลทิน จะต้องเผาเธอเสียด้วยไฟ

⁹“‘The daughter of any priest, if she profanes herself by playing the prostitute, she profanes her father: she shall be burned with fire.

¹⁰และผู้ที่เป็นมหาปุโรหิตในหมู่พวกพี่น้อง ผู้ถูกเจิมที่ศีรษะด้วยน้ำมัน และผู้ที่ได้รับการสถาปนาที่จะสวมเสื้อยศ อย่าปล่อยผม หรือฉีกเสื้อผ้าของตน

¹⁰“‘He who is the high priest among his brothers, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose, nor tear his clothes;

¹¹อย่าให้เขาเข้าไปถูกต้องศพหรือกระทำตัวให้มลทิน แม้ว่าศพนั้นเป็นบิดาหรือมารดาของเขา

¹¹neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

¹²อย่าให้เขาออกไปจากสถานบริสุทธิ์ หรือกระทำสถานบริสุทธิ์ของพระเจ้าให้เป็นมลทิน เพราะว่าการสถาปนาด้วยน้ำมันเจิมของพระเจ้าอยู่บนตัวเขา เราคือพระเยโฮวาห์

¹²neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am Yahweh.

¹³เขาจะต้องมีภรรยาเป็นหญิงพรหมจารี

¹³“‘He shall take a wife in her virginity.

¹⁴อย่าให้เขาแต่งงานกับหญิงม่าย แม่ร้าง หญิงที่มีมลทิน หรือหญิงโสเภณี เขาจะต้องหาหญิงพรหมจารีในชนชาติของเขามาเป็นภรรยา

¹⁴A widow, or one divorced, or a woman who has been defiled, or a prostitute, these he shall not marry: but a virgin of his own people shall he take as a wife.

¹⁵เพื่อเขาจะมิได้กระทำให้เชื้อสายของเขาในหมู่ชนชาติของเขาเป็นมลทิน เพราะเราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้ตั้งเขาไว้ให้บริสุทธิ์"

¹⁵He shall not profane his seed among his people: for I am Yahweh who sanctifies him.’”

¹⁶พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า

¹⁶Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁷"จงกล่าวแก่อาโรนว่า ในบรรดาเชื้อสายของเจ้าตลอดทุกชั่วอายุของเขาทั้งหลาย อย่าให้ผู้มีตำหนิพิการเข้าไปถวายพระกระยาหารแห่งพระเจ้าของเขา

¹⁷“Say to Aaron, ‘None of your seed throughout their generations who has a blemish, may approach to offer the bread of his God.

¹⁸เพราะว่าผู้ใดที่มีตำหนิจะเข้าใกล้ไม่ได้ ไม่ว่าเป็นคนตาบอดหรือเป็นคนง่อย หรือที่หน้ามีแผลเป็น หรือแขนขายาวเกิน

¹⁸For whatever man he is that has a blemish, he shall not draw near: a blind man, or a lame, or he who has a flat nose, or any deformity,

¹⁹หรือมีเท้าพิการหรือมือพิการ

¹⁹or a man who has an injured foot, or an injured hand,

²⁰คนหลังค่อม คนแคระ คนเสียตา คนเป็นขี้กลากหรือหิด หรือคนมีลูกอัณฑะฝ่อ

²⁰or hunchbacked, or a dwarf, or one who has a defect in his eye, or an itching disease, or scabs, or who has damaged testicles;

²¹ผู้ใดในเชื้อสายของอาโรนปุโรหิตที่มีตำหนิ อย่าให้เข้ามาถวายเครื่องบูชาด้วยไฟแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ เพราะว่าเขาเป็นคนมีตำหนิ อย่าให้เขาเข้ามาใกล้ถวายพระกระยาหารแห่งพระเจ้าของเขา

²¹no man of the seed of Aaron the priest who has a blemish, shall come near to offer the offerings of Yahweh made by fire. Since he has a blemish, he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.

²²เขาจะรับประทานพระกระยาหารแห่งพระเจ้าของเขาได้ ทั้งของที่บริสุทธิ์ที่สุด และของบริสุทธิ์

²²He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

²³แต่อย่าให้เขาเข้ามาใกล้ม่านหรือใกล้แท่น เพราะเขามีตำหนิ เพื่อเขาจะไม่กระทำให้สถานบริสุทธิ์ของเราเป็นมลทิน เพราะเราคือพระเยโฮวาห์ผู้ตั้งเขาไว้ให้บริสุทธิ์"

²³He shall not come near to the veil, nor come near to the altar, because he has a blemish; that he may not profane my sanctuaries, for I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.’”

²⁴โมเสสจึงบอกอาโรนและลูกหลานของอาโรนและบรรดาคนอิสราเอลดังนั้น

²⁴So Moses spoke to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel.
