¹ในระหว่างนั้นคนเป็นอันมากนับไม่ถ้วนชุมนุมเบียดเสียดกันอยู่ พระองค์ทรงตั้งต้นตรัสกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ก่อนว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายจงระวังเชื้อของพวกฟาริสี ซึ่งเป็นความหน้าซื่อใจคด

¹Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

²เพราะว่าไม่มีสิ่งใดปิดบังไว้ที่จะไม่ต้องเปิดเผย หรือการลับที่จะไม่เผยให้ประจักษ์

² But there is nothing covered up, that will not be revealed, nor hidden, that will not be known.

³เหตุฉะนั้น สิ่งสารพัดซึ่งพวกท่านได้กล่าวในที่มืดจะได้ยินในที่สว่าง และซึ่งได้กระซิบในหูที่ห้องส่วนตัวจะต้องประกาศบนดาดฟ้าหลังคาบ้าน

³ Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

⁴มิตรสหายของเราเอ๋ย เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า อย่ากลัวผู้ที่ฆ่าได้แต่กาย และภายหลังไม่มีอะไรที่จะทำได้อีก

⁴ “I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

⁵แต่เราจะเตือนให้ท่านรู้ว่าควรจะกลัวผู้ใด จงกลัวพระองค์ผู้ทรงฆ่าแล้วก็ยังมีฤทธิ์อำนาจที่จะทิ้งลงในนรกได้ แท้จริงเราบอกท่านว่า จงกลัวพระองค์นั้นแหละ

⁵ But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. or, Hell Yes, I tell you, fear him.

⁶นกกระจอกห้าตัวเขาขายสองบาทมิใช่หรือ และนกนั้นแม้สักตัวเดียว พระเจ้ามิได้ทรงลืมเลย

⁶ “Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins An assarion was a small copper coin worth about an hour’s wages for an agricultural laborer. ? Not one of them is forgotten by God.

⁷ถึงผมของท่านทั้งหลายก็ทรงนับไว้แล้วทุกเส้น เหตุฉะนั้น อย่ากลัวเลย ท่านทั้งหลายก็ประเสริฐกว่านกกระจอกหลายตัว

⁷ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.

⁸และเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายด้วยว่า ทุกคนที่จะรับเราต่อหน้ามนุษย์ บุตรมนุษย์ก็จะรับผู้นั้นต่อหน้าเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้าด้วย

⁸ “I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God;

⁹แต่ผู้ที่ปฏิเสธเราต่อหน้ามนุษย์ เราจะปฏิเสธผู้นั้นต่อหน้าเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้า

⁹ but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of the angels of God.

¹⁰ผู้ใดจะกล่าวร้ายต่อบุตรมนุษย์ จะทรงโปรดยกโทษให้ผู้นั้นได้ แต่ถ้าผู้ใดจะกล่าวหมิ่นประมาทต่อพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ จะทรงโปรดยกโทษให้ผู้นั้นไม่ได้

¹⁰ Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

¹¹เมื่อเขาพาพวกท่านเข้าในธรรมศาลา หรือต่อหน้าเจ้าเมือง และผู้ที่มีอำนาจ อย่ากระวนกระวายว่าจะตอบอย่างไรหรืออะไร หรือจะกล่าวอะไร

¹¹ When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don’t be anxious how or what you will answer, or what you will say;

¹²เพราะว่าพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์จะทรงโปรดสอนท่านในเวลาโมงนั้นเองว่า ท่านควรจะพูดอะไรบ้าง"

¹² for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you must say.”

¹³และมีผู้หนึ่งในหมู่คนทูลพระองค์ว่า "อาจารย์เจ้าข้า ขอสั่งพี่ชายของข้าพเจ้าให้แบ่งมรดกให้กับข้าพเจ้า"

¹³One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

¹⁴แต่พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า "บุรุษเอ๋ย ใครได้ตั้งเราให้เป็นตุลาการ หรือเป็นผู้แบ่งมรดกให้ท่าน"

¹⁴But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?”

¹⁵แล้วพระองค์จึงตรัสแก่เขาทั้งหลายว่า "จงระวังและเว้นเสียจากความโลภ เพราะว่าชีวิตของบุคคลใดๆมิได้อยู่ในของบริบูรณ์ซึ่งเขามีอยู่นั้น"

¹⁵He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

¹⁶และพระองค์จึงตรัสคำอุปมาเรื่องหนึ่งให้เขาฟังว่า "ไร่นาของเศรษฐีคนหนึ่งเกิดผลบริบูรณ์มาก

¹⁶He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly.

¹⁷เศรษฐีคนนั้นจึงคิดในใจว่า `เราจะทำอย่างไรดี เพราะว่าเราไม่มีที่ที่จะเก็บผลของเรา'

¹⁷ He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’

¹⁸เขาจึงคิดว่า `เราจะทำอย่างนี้ คือจะรื้อยุ้งฉางของเราเสีย และจะสร้างใหม่ให้โตขึ้น แล้วเราจะรวบรวมข้าวและสมบัติทั้งหมดของเราไว้ที่นั่น

¹⁸ He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

¹⁹แล้วเราจะว่าแก่จิตใจของเราว่า "จิตใจเอ๋ย เจ้ามีทรัพย์สมบัติมากเก็บไว้พอหลายปี จงอยู่สบาย กิน ดื่ม และรื่นเริงเถิด"'

¹⁹ I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.”’

²⁰แต่พระเจ้าตรัสแก่เขาว่า `โอ คนโง่ ในคืนวันนี้ชีวิตของเจ้าจะต้องเรียกเอาไปจากเจ้า แล้วของซึ่งเจ้าได้รวบรวมไว้นั้นจะเป็นของใครเล่า'

²⁰ “But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’

²¹คนที่ส่ำสมทรัพย์สมบัติไว้สำหรับตัว และมิได้มั่งมีจำเพาะพระเจ้าก็เป็นเช่นนั้นแหละ"

²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

²²และพระองค์ตรัสกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ว่า "เหตุฉะนั้นเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า อย่ากระวนกระวายถึงชีวิตของตนว่าจะเอาอะไรกิน และอย่ากระวนกระวายถึงร่างกายของตนว่าจะเอาอะไรนุ่งห่ม

²²He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.

²³เพราะว่าชีวิตสำคัญยิ่งกว่าอาหาร และร่างกายสำคัญยิ่งกว่าเครื่องนุ่งห่ม

²³ Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

²⁴จงพิจารณาดูอีกา มันมิได้หว่าน มิได้เกี่ยว และมิได้มียุ้งหรือฉาง แต่พระเจ้ายังทรงเลี้ยงมันไว้ ท่านทั้งหลายก็ประเสริฐกว่านกมากทีเดียว

²⁴ Consider the ravens: they don’t sow, they don’t reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!

²⁵มีใครในพวกท่าน โดยความกระวนกระวาย อาจต่อความสูงให้ยาวออกไปอีกศอกหนึ่งได้หรือ

²⁵ Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?

²⁶เหตุฉะนั้น ถ้าสิ่งเล็กน้อยที่สุดยังทำไม่ได้ ท่านยังจะกระวนกระวายถึงสิ่งอื่นทำไมอีกเล่า

²⁶ If then you aren’t able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?

²⁷จงพิจารณาดอกไม้ว่ามันงอกเจริญขึ้นอย่างไร มันไม่ทำงาน มันไม่ปั่นด้าย แต่เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ซาโลมอนเมื่อบริบูรณ์ด้วยสง่าราศี ก็มิได้ทรงเครื่องงามเท่าดอกไม้นี้ดอกหนึ่ง

²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

²⁸แม้ว่าพระเจ้าทรงตกแต่งหญ้าที่ทุ่งนาอย่างนั้น ซึ่งเป็นอยู่วันนี้และรุ่งขึ้นต้องทิ้งในเตาไฟ โอ ผู้ที่มีความเชื่อน้อย พระองค์จะทรงตกแต่งท่านมากยิ่งกว่านั้นสักเท่าใด

²⁸ But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?

²⁹ท่านทั้งหลายอย่าเสาะหาว่าจะกินอะไรดีหรือจะดื่มอะไรและอย่ามีใจสงสัยเลย

²⁹ Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious.

³⁰เพราะว่าคนทุกประเทศทั่วโลกเสาะหาสิ่งของทั้งปวงนี้ แต่ว่าพระบิดาของท่านทั้งหลายทรงทราบแล้วว่าท่านต้องการสิ่งเหล่านี้

³⁰ For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.

³¹แต่ท่านทั้งหลายจงแสวงหาอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า แล้วจะทรงเพิ่มเติมสิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้ให้แก่ท่าน

³¹ But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.

³²ฝูงแกะเล็กน้อยเอ๋ย อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะว่าพระบิดาของท่านชอบพระทัยที่จะประทานอาณาจักรนั้นให้แก่ท่าน

³² Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

³³จงขายของที่ท่านมีอยู่และทำทาน จงกระทำถุงใส่เงินสำหรับตนซึ่งไม่รู้เก่า คือให้มีทรัพย์สมบัติไว้ในสวรรค์ซึ่งไม่เสื่อมสูญไป ที่ขโมยมิได้เข้ามาใกล้ และที่ตัวมอดมิได้ทำลายเสีย

³³ Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don’t grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn’t fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.

³⁴เพราะว่าทรัพย์สมบัติของท่านอยู่ที่ไหน ใจของท่านก็อยู่ที่นั่นด้วย

³⁴ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

³⁵ท่านทั้งหลายจงคาดเอวของท่านไว้ และให้ตะเกียงของท่านจุดอยู่

³⁵ “Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning.

³⁶พวกท่านเองจงเหมือนคนที่คอยรับนายของตน เมื่อนายจะกลับมาจากงานสมรส เพื่อเมื่อนายมาเคาะประตูแล้ว เขาจะเปิดให้นายทันทีได้

³⁶ Be like men watching for their lord, when he returns from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.

³⁷ผู้รับใช้ซึ่งนายมาพบกำลังคอยเฝ้าอยู่ก็เป็นสุข เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า นายนั้นจะคาดเอวไว้และให้ผู้รับใช้เหล่านั้นเอนกายลงและนายนั้นจะมาปรนนิบัติเขา

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most certainly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them.

³⁸ถ้านายมาเวลาสองยามหรือสามยาม และพบผู้รับใช้อยู่อย่างนั้น ผู้รับใช้เหล่านั้นก็จะเป็นสุข

³⁸ They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch, and finds them so.

³⁹ให้เข้าใจอย่างนี้เถอะว่า ถ้าเจ้าของบ้านล่วงรู้ได้ว่าขโมยจะมาเวลาไหน เขาจะตื่นอยู่และระวังไม่ให้ทะลวงเรือนของเขาได้

³⁹ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not allowed his house to be broken into.

⁴⁰เหตุฉะนั้น ท่านทั้งหลายจงเตรียมตัวไว้ให้พร้อมด้วย เพราะบุตรมนุษย์เสด็จมาในโมงที่ท่านไม่คิดไม่ฝัน"

⁴⁰ Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you don’t expect him.”

⁴¹ฝ่ายเปโตรทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์ได้ตรัสคำอุปมานั้นแก่พวกข้าพระองค์หรือ หรือตรัสแก่คนทั้งปวง"

⁴¹Peter said to him, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everybody?”

⁴²องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า "ใครเป็นคนต้นเรือนสัตย์ซื่อและฉลาด ที่นายได้ตั้งไว้เหนือพวกคนใช้สำหรับแจกอาหารตามเวลา

⁴²The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the right times?

⁴³เมื่อนายมาพบเขากระทำอยู่อย่างนั้น ผู้รับใช้ผู้นั้นก็จะเป็นสุข

⁴³ Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.

⁴⁴เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า นายจะตั้งเขาไว้ให้ดูแลบรรดาข้าวของทั้งสิ้นของท่าน

⁴⁴ Truly I tell you, that he will set him over all that he has.

⁴⁵แต่ถ้าผู้รับใช้นั้นจะคิดในใจว่า `นายของข้าคงจะมาช้า' แล้วจะตั้งต้นโบยตีผู้รับใช้ชายหญิงและกินดื่มเมาไป

⁴⁵ But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My lord delays his coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken,

⁴⁶นายของผู้รับใช้ผู้นั้นจะมาในวันที่เขาไม่คิด ในโมงที่เขาไม่รู้ และจะทำโทษเขาถึงสาหัส ทั้งจะขับไล่เขาให้ไปอยู่กับคนที่ไม่เชื่อ

⁴⁶ then the lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn’t expecting him, and in an hour that he doesn’t know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.

⁴⁷ผู้รับใช้นั้นที่ได้รู้น้ำใจของนาย และมิได้เตรียมตัวไว้ มิได้กระทำตามน้ำใจนาย จะต้องถูกเฆี่ยนมาก

⁴⁷ That servant, who knew his lord’s will, and didn’t prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes,

⁴⁸แต่ผู้ที่มิได้รู้ แล้วได้กระทำสิ่งซึ่งสมจะถูกเฆี่ยน ก็จะถูกเฆี่ยนน้อย ผู้ใดได้รับมาก จะต้องเรียกเอาจากผู้นั้นมาก และผู้ใดได้รับฝากไว้มาก ก็จะต้องทวงเอาจากผู้นั้นมาก

⁴⁸ but he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.

⁴⁹เรามาเพื่อจะทิ้งไฟลงบนแผ่นดินโลก และเราจะปรารถนาอะไรเล่า ถ้าหากไฟนั้นได้ติดขึ้นแล้ว

⁴⁹ “I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled.

⁵⁰เราจะต้องรับบัพติศมาอย่างหนึ่ง เราเป็นทุกข์มากจนกว่าจะสำเร็จ

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

⁵¹ท่านทั้งหลายคิดว่า เรามาเพื่อจะให้เกิดสันติภาพในโลกหรือ เราบอกท่านว่า มิใช่ แต่จะให้แตกแยกกันต่างหาก

⁵¹ Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.

⁵²ด้วยว่าตั้งแต่นี้ไปห้าคนในเรือนหนึ่งก็จะแตกแยกกัน คือสามต่อสองและสองต่อสาม

⁵² For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

⁵³พ่อจะแตกแยกจากลูกชาย และลูกชายจะแตกแยกจากพ่อ แม่จากลูกสาว และลูกสาวจากแม่ แม่สามีจากลูกสะใภ้ และลูกสะใภ้จากแม่สามี"

⁵³ They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” Micah 7:6

⁵⁴และพระองค์ตรัสกับประชาชนอีกว่า "เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเห็นเมฆเกิดขึ้นในทิศตะวันตก ท่านก็กล่าวทันทีว่า `ฝนจะตก' และก็เป็นอย่างนั้นจริง

⁵⁴ He said to the multitudes also, “When you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it happens.

⁵⁵เมื่อท่านเห็นลมพัดมาแต่ทิศใต้ ท่านก็ว่า `จะร้อนจัด' และก็เป็นจริง

⁵⁵ When a south wind blows, you say, ‘There will be a scorching heat,’ and it happens.

⁵⁶เจ้าคนหน้าซื่อใจคด เจ้าทั้งหลายรู้จักวิจัยความเป็นไปของแผ่นดินและท้องฟ้า แต่เหตุไฉนพวกเจ้าวิจัยความเป็นไปของยุคนี้ไม่ได้

⁵⁶ You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you don’t interpret this time?

⁵⁷เหตุไฉนเจ้าทั้งหลายไม่ตัดสินเอาเองว่าสิ่งไรเป็นสิ่งที่ถูก

⁵⁷ Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

⁵⁸เพราะเมื่อเจ้ากับโจทก์พากันไปหาผู้พิพากษา จงอุตส่าห์หาช่องที่จะปรองดองกับเขาเมื่อยังอยู่กลางทาง เกลือกว่าเขาจะฉุดลากเจ้าเข้าไปถึงผู้พิพากษา และผู้พิพากษาจะมอบเจ้าไว้กับผู้คุม และผู้คุมจะขังเจ้าไว้ในเรือนจำ

⁵⁸ For when you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, try diligently on the way to be released from him, lest perhaps he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.

⁵⁹เราบอกเจ้าว่า เจ้าจะออกจากที่นั่นไม่ได้จนกว่าจะได้ใช้หนี้ครบทุกสตางค์"

⁵⁹ I tell you, you will by no means get out of there, until you have paid the very last penny. literally, lepton. A lepton is a very small brass Jewish coin worth half a Roman quadrans each, which is worth a quarter of the copper assarion. Lepta are worth less than 1% of an agricultural worker’s daily wages. ”
