¹เมื่อพระองค์ตรัสคำเหล่านั้นให้คนทั้งหลายฟังเสร็จแล้ว พระองค์จึงเสด็จเข้าไปในเมืองคาเปอรนาอุม

¹After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

²มีผู้รับใช้ของนายร้อยคนหนึ่งที่นายรักมากป่วยเกือบจะตายแล้ว

²A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.

³เมื่อนายร้อยได้ยินถึงพระเยซู จึงใช้ผู้ใหญ่บางคนของพวกยิวให้ไปอ้อนวอนเชิญพระองค์เสด็จมารักษาผู้รับใช้ของตน

³When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.

⁴เมื่อเขาเหล่านั้นมาถึงพระเยซูแล้ว เขาก็อ้อนวอนพระองค์ด้วยใจร้อนรนว่า "นายร้อยนั้นเป็นคนสมควรที่พระองค์จะกระทำการนั้นให้ท่าน

⁴When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy for you to do this for him,

⁵เพราะว่าท่านรักชนชาติของเราและท่านได้สร้างธรรมศาลาให้เรา"

⁵for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.”

⁶พระเยซูจึงเสด็จไปกับเขา เมื่อพระองค์ไปเกือบจะถึงบ้านแล้ว นายร้อยจึงใช้เพื่อนฝูงไปหาพระองค์ทูลว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า อย่าลำบากเลย เพราะว่าข้าพระองค์เป็นคนไม่สมควรที่จะรับเสด็จพระองค์เข้าใต้ชายคาของข้าพระองค์

⁶Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.

⁷เพราะเหตุนั้น ข้าพระองค์จึงคิดเห็นว่าไม่สมควรที่ข้าพระองค์จะไปหาพระองค์ด้วย แต่ขอพระองค์ทรงตรัสสั่ง และผู้รับใช้ของข้าพระองค์ก็จะหายโรค

⁷Therefore I didn’t even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.

⁸ด้วยว่าข้าพระองค์อยู่ใต้วินัยทหาร แต่ก็ยังมีทหารอยู่ใต้บังคับบัญชาของข้าพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์จะบอกแก่คนนี้ว่า `ไป' เขาก็ไป บอกแก่คนนั้นว่า `มา' เขาก็มา บอกผู้รับใช้ของข้าพระองค์ว่า `จงทำสิ่งนี้' เขาก็ทำ"

⁸For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

⁹เมื่อพระเยซูทรงได้ยินคำเหล่านั้นแล้ว ก็ประหลาดพระทัยด้วยคนนั้น จึงทรงเหลียวหลังตรัสกับประชาชนที่ตามพระองค์มาว่า "เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า แม้ในพวกอิสราเอล เราไม่เคยพบความเชื่อมากเท่านี้"

⁹When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.”

¹⁰ฝ่ายคนที่รับใช้มานั้นเมื่อกลับไปถึงบ้านก็ได้เห็นผู้รับใช้นั้นหายเป็นปกติแล้ว

¹⁰Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.

¹¹ต่อมาในวันรุ่งขึ้นพระองค์เสด็จไปยังเมืองหนึ่งชื่อนาอิน เหล่าสาวกของพระองค์กับคนเป็นอันมากก็ไปด้วยกันกับพระองค์

¹¹It happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.

¹²เมื่อพระองค์มาใกล้ประตูเมืองนั้น ดูเถิด มีคนหามศพชายหนุ่มคนหนึ่งมา เป็นบุตรชายคนเดียวของแม่ และนางก็เป็นหญิงม่าย ชาวเมืองเป็นอันมากมากับหญิงนั้น

¹²Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.

¹³เมื่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นมารดานั้น พระองค์ทรงเมตตากรุณาเขาและตรัสแก่เขาว่า "อย่าร้องไห้"

¹³When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, “Don’t cry.”

¹⁴แล้วพระองค์เสด็จเข้าไปใกล้ถูกต้องโลง คนหามศพนั้นก็หยุดยืนอยู่ พระองค์จึงตรัสว่า "ชายหนุ่มเอ๋ย เราสั่งเจ้าว่า ลุกขึ้นเถิด"

¹⁴He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!”

¹⁵คนที่ตายนั้นก็ลุกขึ้นนั่งเริ่มพูด พระองค์จึงทรงมอบชายหนุ่มให้แก่มารดาของเขา

¹⁵He who was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.

¹⁶ฝ่ายคนทั้งปวงมีความกลัวและเขาสรรเสริญพระเจ้าว่า "ท่านศาสดาพยากรณ์ผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ได้เกิดขึ้นท่ามกลางเรา" และ "พระเจ้าได้เสด็จมาเยี่ยมเยียนชนชาติของพระองค์แล้ว"

¹⁶Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited his people!”

¹⁷และกิตติศัพท์ของพระองค์ได้เลื่องลือไปตลอดทั่วแคว้นยูเดีย และทั่วแว่นแคว้นล้อมรอบ

¹⁷This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea, and in all the surrounding region.

¹⁸ฝ่ายพวกศิษย์ของยอห์นก็ได้เล่าเหตุการณ์ทั้งปวงนั้นให้ท่านฟัง

¹⁸The disciples of John told him about all these things.

¹⁹ยอห์นจึงเรียกศิษย์ของท่านสองคน ใช้เขาไปหาพระเยซูทูลถามว่า "ท่านเป็นผู้ที่จะมานั้นหรือ หรือเราจะต้องคอยผู้อื่น"

¹⁹John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?”

²⁰เมื่อคนทั้งสองนั้นมาถึงพระองค์แล้วเขาทูลว่า "ยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมาใช้ข้าพเจ้ามาหาท่านให้ถามว่า `ท่านเป็นผู้ที่จะมานั้นหรือ หรือเราจะต้องคอยผู้อื่น'"

²⁰When the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?’”

²¹ในเวลานั้น พระองค์ได้ทรงรักษาคนเจ็บเป็นอันมากให้หายจากความเจ็บและโรคต่างๆและให้พ้นจากวิญญาณชั่ว และคนตาบอดหลายคนพระองค์ได้ทรงรักษาให้เห็นได้

²¹In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.

²²แล้วพระเยซูตรัสตอบศิษย์สองคนนั้นว่า "จงไปแจ้งแก่ยอห์นตามซึ่งท่านได้เห็นและได้ยินคือว่า คนตาบอดก็หายบอด คนง่อยเดินได้ คนโรคเรื้อนหายสะอาด คนหูหนวกได้ยิน คนตายแล้วเป็นขึ้นมา และข่าวประเสริฐก็ประกาศแก่คนอนาถา

²²Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

²³บุคคลผู้ใดไม่เห็นว่าเราเป็นอุปสรรค ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข"

²³ Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”

²⁴เมื่อผู้ส่งข่าวทั้งสองของยอห์นไปแล้ว พระองค์จึงตั้งต้นตรัสกับประชาชนถึงยอห์นว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายได้ออกไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารเพื่อดูอะไร ดูต้นอ้อไหวโดยถูกลมพัดหรือ

²⁴When John’s messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

²⁵แต่ท่านทั้งหลายได้ไปดูอะไร ดูคนนุ่งห่มผ้าเนื้ออ่อนนิ่มหรือ ดูเถิด คนนุ่งห่มผ้างดงามและอยู่อย่างดีวิเศษย่อมอยู่ในราชสำนัก

²⁵ But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts.

²⁶แต่ท่านทั้งหลายออกไปดูอะไร ดูศาสดาพยากรณ์หรือ แน่ทีเดียว เราบอกท่านว่า ประเสริฐยิ่งกว่าศาสดาพยากรณ์อีก

²⁶ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.

²⁷คือยอห์นนี้แหละที่พระคัมภีร์กล่าวถึงว่า `ดูเถิด เราใช้ทูตของเราไปข้างหน้าท่าน ผู้นั้นจะเตรียมมรรคาของท่านไว้ข้างหน้าท่าน'

²⁷ This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’ Malachi 3:1

²⁸เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ในบรรดาคนที่บังเกิดจากผู้หญิงมานั้น ไม่มีศาสดาพยากรณ์ผู้ใดใหญ่กว่ายอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมา แต่ว่าผู้ต่ำต้อยที่สุดในอาณาจักรของพระเจ้าก็ใหญ่กว่ายอห์นเสียอีก"

²⁸ “For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer, yet he who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.”

²⁹ฝ่ายคนทั้งปวงเมื่อได้ยิน รวมทั้งพวกเก็บภาษีด้วย ก็ได้รับว่าพระเจ้ายุติธรรมโดยที่เขาได้รับบัพติศมาของยอห์นแล้ว

²⁹When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been baptized with John’s baptism.

³⁰แต่พวกฟาริสีและพวกบาเรียนปฏิเสธพระประสงค์ของพระเจ้าสำหรับเขา โดยที่มิได้รับบัพติศมาจากยอห์น

³⁰But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves.

³¹และองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า "เหตุฉะนั้นเราจะเปรียบคนยุคนี้เหมือนกับอะไรดี และเขาเหมือนอะไร

³¹ TR adds “But the Lord said,” “To what then will I liken the people of this generation? What are they like?

³²เปรียบเหมือนเด็กนั่งที่กลางตลาดร้องแก่เพื่อนว่า `พวกฉันได้เป่าปี่ให้พวกเธอ และเธอมิได้เต้นรำ พวกฉันได้พิลาปร่ำไห้ให้แก่พวกเธอ และพวกเธอมิได้ร้องไห้'

³² They are like children who sit in the marketplace, and call one to another, saying, ‘We piped to you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned, and you didn’t weep.’

³³ด้วยว่ายอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมาก็ไม่ได้รับประทานขนมปังหรือดื่มน้ำองุ่น และท่านทั้งหลายว่า `เขามีผีเข้าสิงอยู่'

³³ For John the Baptizer came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’

³⁴ฝ่ายบุตรมนุษย์มาทั้งกินและดื่ม และท่านทั้งหลายว่า `ดูเถิด นี่เป็นคนกินเติบและดื่มน้ำองุ่นมาก เป็นมิตรสหายกับพวกคนเก็บภาษีและพวกคนบาป'

³⁴ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man, and a drunkard; a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

³⁵แต่พระปัญญาก็ปรากฏว่าชอบธรรมแล้วโดยบรรดาผลแห่งพระปัญญานั้น"

³⁵ Wisdom is justified by all her children.”

³⁶มีคนหนึ่งในพวกฟาริสีเชิญพระองค์ไปเสวยพระกระยาหารกับเขา พระองค์ก็เสด็จเข้าไปในเรือนของคนฟาริสีคนนั้น แล้วเอนพระกายลง

³⁶One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee’s house, and sat at the table.

³⁷และดูเถิด มีผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งในเมืองนั้นซึ่งเป็นหญิงชั่ว เมื่อรู้ว่าพระเยซูทรงเอนพระกายลงเสวยอยู่ในบ้านของคนฟาริสีนั้น นางจึงถือผอบน้ำมันหอม

³⁷Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.

³⁸มายืนอยู่ข้างหลังใกล้พระบาทของพระองค์ เริ่มร้องไห้น้ำตาไหลชำระพระบาทและเอาผมเช็ด จุบพระบาทของพระองค์ และชโลมพระบาทด้วยน้ำมันหอมนั้น

³⁸Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

³⁹ฝ่ายคนฟาริสีที่ได้เชิญพระองค์เมื่อเห็นแล้วก็นึกในใจว่า "ถ้าท่านนี้เป็นศาสดาพยากรณ์ก็จะรู้ว่า หญิงผู้นี้ที่ถูกต้องกายของท่านเป็นผู้ใดและเป็นคนอย่างไร เพราะนางเป็นคนชั่ว"

³⁹Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.”

⁴⁰ฝ่ายพระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ซีโมนเอ๋ย เรามีอะไรจะพูดกับท่านบ้าง" เขาทูลว่า "ท่านอาจารย์เจ้าข้า เชิญพูดไปเถิด"

⁴⁰Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” He said, “Teacher, say on.”

⁴¹พระองค์จึงตรัสว่า "เจ้าหนี้คนหนึ่งมีลูกหนี้สองคน คนหนึ่งเป็นหนี้เงินห้าร้อยเหรียญเดนาริอัน อีกคนหนึ่งเป็นหนี้เงินห้าสิบเหรียญ

⁴¹ “A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

⁴²เมื่อเขาไม่มีอะไรจะใช้หนี้แล้ว ท่านจึงโปรดยกหนี้ให้เขาทั้งสองคน เพราะฉะนั้นจงบอกเราว่า ในสองคนนั้น คนไหนจะรักเจ้าหนี้มากกว่า"

⁴² When they couldn’t pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?”

⁴³ซีโมนจึงทูลตอบว่า "ข้าพเจ้าเห็นว่า คนที่เจ้าหนี้ได้โปรดยกหนี้ให้มากกว่า" พระองค์จึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ท่านคิดเห็นถูกแล้ว"

⁴³Simon answered, “He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most.” He said to him, “You have judged correctly.”

⁴⁴พระองค์จึงทรงเหลียวหลังดูผู้หญิงนั้น และตรัสแก่ซีโมนว่า "ท่านเห็นผู้หญิงนี้หรือ เราได้เข้ามาในบ้านของท่าน ท่านมิได้ให้น้ำล้างเท้าของเรา แต่นางได้เอาน้ำตาชำระเท้าของเรา และได้เอาผมของตนเช็ด

⁴⁴Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.

⁴⁵ท่านมิได้จุบเรา แต่ผู้หญิงนี้ตั้งแต่เราเข้ามามิได้หยุดจุบเท้าของเรา

⁴⁵ You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.

⁴⁶ท่านมิได้เอาน้ำมันชโลมศีรษะของเรา แต่นางได้เอาน้ำมันหอมชโลมเท้าของเรา

⁴⁶ You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.

⁴⁷เหตุฉะนั้น เราบอกท่านว่า ความผิดบาปของนางซึ่งมีมากได้โปรดยกเสียแล้วเพราะนางรักมาก แต่ผู้ที่ได้รับการยกโทษน้อย ผู้นั้นก็รักน้อย"

⁴⁷ Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

⁴⁸พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่นางว่า "ความผิดบาปของเจ้าโปรดยกเสียแล้ว"

⁴⁸He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

⁴⁹ฝ่ายคนทั้งหลายที่เอนกายอยู่ด้วยกันกับพระองค์ เริ่มนึกในใจว่า "คนนี้เป็นใครแม้ความผิดบาปก็ยกให้ได้"

⁴⁹Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

⁵⁰พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่ผู้หญิงนั้นว่า "ความเชื่อของเจ้าได้ทำให้เจ้ารอด จงไปเป็นสุขเถิด"

⁵⁰He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
