¹ครั้งนั้นพวกฟาริสีกับพวกธรรมาจารย์บางคน ซึ่งได้มาจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม พากันมาหาพระองค์

¹Then the Pharisees, and some of the scribes gathered together to him, having come from Jerusalem.

²เมื่อเขาได้เห็นเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์บางคนรับประทานอาหารด้วยมือที่เป็นมลทิน คือมือที่ไม่ได้ล้างก่อน เขาก็ถือว่าผิด

²Now when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands, they found fault.

³เพราะว่าพวกฟาริสีกับพวกยิวทั้งสิ้นถือตามประเพณีสืบทอดมาจากบรรพบุรุษว่า ถ้ามิได้ล้างมือตามพิธีโดยเคร่งครัด เขาก็ไม่รับประทานอาหารเลย

³(For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, don’t eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders.

⁴และเมื่อเขามาจากตลาด ถ้ามิได้ล้างก่อน เขาก็ไม่รับประทานอาหาร และธรรมเนียมอื่นๆอีกหลายอย่างเขาก็ถือ คือล้างถ้วย เหยือก ภาชนะทองสัมฤทธิ์ และโต๊ะ

⁴They don’t eat when they come from the marketplace, unless they bathe themselves, and there are many other things, which they have received to hold to: washings of cups, pitchers, bronze vessels, and couches.)

⁵พวกฟาริสีกับพวกธรรมาจารย์จึงทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "ทำไมพวกสาวกของท่านไม่ประพฤติตามประเพณีสืบทอดมาจากบรรพบุรุษ แต่รับประทานอาหารโดยมิได้ล้างมือเสียก่อน"

⁵The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why don’t your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?”

⁶พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า "อิสยาห์ได้พยากรณ์ถึงพวกเจ้าคนหน้าซื่อใจคดก็ถูก ตามที่ได้เขียนไว้ว่า `ประชาชนนี้ให้เกียรติเราด้วยริมฝีปากของเขา แต่ใจของเขาห่างไกลจากเรา

⁶He answered them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

⁷เขานมัสการเราโดยหาประโยชน์มิได้ ด้วยเอาบทบัญญัติของมนุษย์มาอวดอ้างว่า เป็นพระดำรัสสอน'

⁷ But in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Isaiah 29:13

⁸เจ้าทั้งหลายละพระบัญญัติของพระเจ้า และกลับไปถือตามประเพณีของมนุษย์ คือการล้างถ้วยเหยือก และสิ่งอื่นๆเช่นนี้อีกหลายสิ่ง เจ้าทั้งหลายก็ทำอยู่"

⁸ “For you set aside the commandment of God, and hold tightly to the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and you do many other such things.”

⁹พระองค์ตรัสแก่เขาว่า "เหมาะจริงนะ ที่เจ้าทั้งหลายได้ละทิ้งพระบัญญัติของพระเจ้า เพื่อจะได้ถือตามประเพณีของพวกท่าน

⁹He said to them, “Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

¹⁰เพราะโมเสสได้สั่งไว้ว่า `จงให้เกียรติแก่บิดามารดาของตน' และ `ผู้ใดด่าแช่งบิดามารดา ผู้นั้นต้องถูกปรับโทษถึงตาย'

¹⁰ For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother;’ Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16 and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’ Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9

¹¹แต่พวกเจ้ากลับสอนว่า `ผู้ใดจะกล่าวแก่บิดามารดาว่า "สิ่งใดของข้าพเจ้าซึ่งอาจเป็นประโยชน์แก่ท่าน สิ่งนั้นเป็นโกระบัน"' แปลว่าเป็นของถวายแด่พระเจ้าแล้ว

¹¹ But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban Corban is a Hebrew word for an offering devoted to God. , that is to say, given to God”;’

¹²เจ้าทั้งหลายจึงไม่อนุญาตให้ผู้นั้นทำสิ่งใดต่อไป เป็นที่ช่วยบำรุงบิดามารดาของตน

¹² then you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother,

¹³เจ้าทั้งหลายจึงทำให้พระวจนะของพระเจ้าเป็นหมันไปด้วยประเพณีของพวกท่านซึ่งพวกท่านได้สอนไว้ และสิ่งอื่นๆเช่นนี้อีกหลายสิ่ง เจ้าทั้งหลายก็ทำอยู่"

¹³ making void the word of God by your tradition, which you have handed down. You do many things like this.”

¹⁴แล้วเมื่อพระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกประชาชนทั้งหลายเข้ามาก็ตรัสกับเขาว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายจงฟังเราและเข้าใจเถิด

¹⁴He called all the multitude to himself, and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand.

¹⁵ไม่มีสิ่งใดภายนอกที่เข้าไปภายในมนุษย์จะกระทำให้มนุษย์เป็นมลทินได้ แต่สิ่งซึ่งออกมาจากภายในมนุษย์ สิ่งนั้นแหละกระทำให้มนุษย์เป็นมลทิน

¹⁵ There is nothing from outside of the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.

¹⁶ใครมีหูฟังได้ จงฟังเถิด"

¹⁶ If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”

¹⁷ครั้นพระองค์ได้เสด็จเข้าไปในเรือนพ้นประชาชนแล้ว เหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ก็ได้ทูลถามพระองค์ถึงคำอุปมานั้น

¹⁷When he had entered into a house away from the multitude, his disciples asked him about the parable.

¹⁸พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่เขาว่า "ถึงท่านทั้งหลายก็ยังไม่เข้าใจหรือ ท่านยังไม่เห็นหรือว่าสิ่งใดๆแต่ภายนอกที่เข้าไปภายในมนุษย์จะกระทำให้มนุษย์เป็นมลทินไม่ได้

¹⁸He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Don’t you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can’t defile him,

¹⁹เพราะว่าสิ่งนั้นมิได้เข้าในใจ แต่ลงไปในท้องแล้วก็ถ่ายออกลงส้วมไป ทำให้อาหารทุกอย่างปราศจากมลทิน"

¹⁹ because it doesn’t go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, thus purifying all foods or, making all foods clean ?”

²⁰พระองค์ตรัสว่า "สิ่งที่ออกมาจากภายในมนุษย์ สิ่งนั้นแหละทำให้มนุษย์เป็นมลทิน

²⁰He said, “That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.

²¹เพราะว่าจากภายในมนุษย์คือจากใจมนุษย์ มีความคิดชั่วร้าย การล่วงประเวณี การผิดผัวผิดเมีย การฆ่าคน

²¹ For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts,

²²การลักขโมย การโลภ ความชั่ว การล่อลวงเขา ราคะตัณหา อิจฉาตาร้อน การหมิ่นประมาท ความเย่อหยิ่ง ความโฉด

²² covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.

²³สารพัดการชั่วนี้เกิดมาจากภายใน และทำให้มนุษย์เป็นมลทิน"

²³ All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

²⁴พระองค์จึงทรงลุกขึ้นจากที่นั่นไปยังเขตแดนเมืองไทระและเมืองไซดอน แล้วเข้าไปในเรือนแห่งหนึ่งประสงค์จะมิให้ผู้ใดรู้ แต่พระองค์จะซ่อนอยู่มิได้

²⁴From there he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house, and didn’t want anyone to know it, but he couldn’t escape notice.

²⁵เพราะผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งซึ่งมีลูกสาวที่มีผีโสโครกสิง เมื่อได้ยินข่าวถึงพระองค์ก็มากราบลงที่พระบาทของพระองค์

²⁵For a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.

²⁶ผู้หญิงนั้นเป็นชาวกรีก ชาติซีเรียฟีนิเซีย และนางทูลอ้อนวอนขอพระองค์ให้ขับผีออกจากลูกสาวของตน

²⁶Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. She begged him that he would cast the demon out of her daughter.

²⁷ฝ่ายพระเยซูตรัสแก่นางนั้นว่า "ให้พวกลูกกินอิ่มเสียก่อน เพราะว่าซึ่งจะเอาอาหารของลูกโยนให้แก่สุนัขก็ไม่ควร"

²⁷But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

²⁸แต่นางทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "จริงด้วย พระองค์เจ้าข้า แต่สุนัขที่อยู่ใต้โต๊ะนั้นย่อมกินเดนอาหารของลูก"

²⁸But she answered him, “Yes, Lord. Yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

²⁹แล้วพระองค์ตรัสแก่นางว่า "เพราะเหตุถ้อยคำนี้จงกลับไปเถิด ผีออกจากลูกสาวของเจ้าแล้ว"

²⁹He said to her, “For this saying, go your way. The demon has gone out of your daughter.”

³⁰ฝ่ายหญิงนั้นเมื่อไปยังเรือนของตน ได้เห็นลูกนอนอยู่บนที่นอน และทราบว่าผีออกแล้ว

³⁰She went away to her house, and found the child having been laid on the bed, with the demon gone out.

³¹ต่อมาพระองค์จึงเสด็จจากเขตแดนเมืองไทระและเมืองไซดอน ดำเนินตามทางแคว้นทศบุรี มายังทะเลสาบกาลิลี

³¹Again he departed from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the region of Decapolis.

³²เขาพาชายหูหนวกพูดติดอ่างคนหนึ่งมาหาพระองค์ แล้วทูลอ้อนวอนขอพระองค์ให้ทรงวางพระหัตถ์บนคนนั้น

³²They brought to him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech. They begged him to lay his hand on him.

³³พระองค์จึงทรงนำคนนั้นออกจากประชาชนไปอยู่ต่างหาก ทรงเอานิ้วพระหัตถ์ยอนเข้าที่หูของชายผู้นั้น และทรงบ้วนน้ำลายเอานิ้วพระหัตถ์จิ้มแตะลิ้นคนนั้น

³³He took him aside from the multitude, privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue.

³⁴แล้วพระองค์ทรงแหงนพระพักตร์ดูฟ้าสวรรค์ ทรงถอนพระทัยตรัสแก่คนนั้นว่า "เอฟฟาธา" แปลว่า "จงเปิดออก"

³⁴Looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, “Ephphatha!” that is, “Be opened!”

³⁵แล้วในทันใดนั้นหูคนนั้นก็ปกติ สิ่งที่ขัดลิ้นนั้นก็หลุดและเขาพูดได้ชัด

³⁵Immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke clearly.

³⁶พระองค์ทรงห้ามปรามคนทั้งหลายมิให้แจ้งความนี้แก่ผู้ใดเลย แต่พระองค์ยิ่งทรงห้ามปรามพวกเขา เขาก็ยิ่งเล่าลือไปมาก

³⁶He commanded them that they should tell no one, but the more he commanded them, so much the more widely they proclaimed it.

³⁷พวกเขาก็ประหลาดใจเหลือเกิน พูดกันว่า "พระองค์ทรงกระทำล้วนแต่ดีทั้งนั้น ทรงกระทำคนหูหนวกให้ได้ยิน คนใบ้ให้พูดได้"

³⁷They were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He makes even the deaf hear, and the mute speak!”
