¹ครั้นล่วงไปได้หกวันแล้ว พระเยซูทรงพาเปโตร ยากอบ และยอห์นน้องชายของยากอบ ขึ้นภูเขาสูงแต่ลำพัง

¹After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain by themselves.

²แล้วพระกายของพระองค์ก็เปลี่ยนไปต่อหน้าเขา พระพักตร์ของพระองค์ก็ทอแสงเหมือนแสงอาทิตย์ ฉลองพระองค์ก็ขาวผ่องดุจแสงสว่าง

²He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his garments became as white as the light.

³ดูเถิด โมเสสและเอลียาห์ก็มาปรากฏแก่พวกสาวกเหล่านั้น กำลังเฝ้าสนทนากับพระองค์

³Behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with him.

⁴ฝ่ายเปโตรทูลพระเยซูว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ซึ่งพวกข้าพระองค์อยู่ที่นี่ก็ดี ถ้าพระองค์ต้องพระประสงค์ พวกข้าพระองค์จะทำพลับพลาสามหลังที่นี่ สำหรับพระองค์หลังหนึ่ง สำหรับโมเสสหลังหนึ่ง สำหรับเอลียาห์หลังหนึ่ง"

⁴Peter answered, and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you want, let’s make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

⁵While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them. Behold, a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”

⁶ฝ่ายพวกสาวกเมื่อได้ยินก็ซบหน้ากราบลงกลัวยิ่งนัก

⁶When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces, and were very afraid.

⁷พระเยซูจึงเสด็จมาถูกต้องเขา แล้วตรัสว่า "จงลุกขึ้นเถิด อย่ากลัวเลย"

⁷Jesus came and touched them and said, “Get up, and don’t be afraid.”

⁸เมื่อเขาเงยหน้าดูก็ไม่เห็นผู้ใด เห็นแต่พระเยซูองค์เดียว

⁸Lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.

⁹ขณะที่ลงมาจากภูเขา พระเยซูตรัสห้ามเหล่าสาวกว่า "นิมิตซึ่งพวกท่านได้เห็นนั้น อย่าบอกเล่าแก่ผู้ใดจนกว่าบุตรมนุษย์จะฟื้นขึ้นมาจากความตาย"

⁹As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Don’t tell anyone what you saw, until the Son of Man has risen from the dead.”

¹⁰เหล่าสาวกก็ทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "เหตุไฉนพวกธรรมาจารย์จึงว่า เอลียาห์จะต้องมาก่อน"

¹⁰His disciples asked him, saying, “Then why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

¹¹พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "เอลียาห์ต้องมาก่อนจริง และทำให้สิ่งทั้งปวงคืนสู่สภาพเดิม

¹¹Jesus answered them, “Elijah indeed comes first, and will restore all things,

¹²แต่เราบอกแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า เอลียาห์นั้นได้มาแล้ว และเขาหารู้จักท่านไม่ แต่เขาใคร่ทำแก่ท่านอย่างไร เขาก็ได้กระทำแล้ว ส่วนบุตรมนุษย์จะต้องทนทุกข์จากเขาเช่นเดียวกัน"

¹² but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them.”

¹³แล้วเหล่าสาวกจึงเข้าใจว่าพระองค์ได้ตรัสแก่เขาเล็งถึงยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมา

¹³Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptizer.

¹⁴ครั้นพระเยซูกับเหล่าสาวกมาถึงฝูงชนแล้ว มีชายคนหนึ่งมาหาพระองค์คุกเข่าลงทูลว่า

¹⁴When they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him, saying,

¹⁵"พระองค์เจ้าข้า ขอทรงพระเมตตาแก่บุตรชายของข้าพระองค์ ด้วยว่าเขาเป็นโรคลมบ้าหมู มีความทุกข์เวทนามาก เคยตกไฟตกน้ำบ่อยๆ

¹⁵“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic, and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water.

¹⁶ข้าพระองค์ได้พาเขามาหาพวกสาวกของพระองค์ แต่พวกสาวกนั้นรักษาเขาให้หายไม่ได้"

¹⁶So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.”

¹⁷พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "โอ คนในยุคที่ขาดความเชื่อและมีทิฐิชั่ว เราจะต้องอยู่กับท่านทั้งหลายนานเท่าใด เราจะต้องอดทนเพราะท่านไปถึงไหน จงพาเด็กนั้นมาหาเราที่นี่เถิด"

¹⁷Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.”

¹⁸พระเยซูจึงตรัสสำทับผีนั้น มันก็ออกจากเขา ทันใดนั้นเด็กก็หายเป็นปกติ

¹⁸Jesus rebuked him, the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.

¹⁹ภายหลังเหล่าสาวกมาหาพระเยซูเป็นส่วนตัวทูลถามว่า "เหตุไฉนพวกข้าพระองค์ขับผีนั้นออกไม่ได้"

¹⁹Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?”

²⁰พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "เพราะเหตุพวกท่านไม่มีความเชื่อ ด้วยเราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ถ้าท่านมีความเชื่อเท่าเมล็ดพันธุ์ผักกาดเมล็ดหนึ่ง ท่านจะสั่งภูเขานี้ว่า `จงเลื่อนจากที่นี่ไปที่โน่น' มันก็จะเลื่อน สิ่งหนึ่งสิ่งใดซึ่งท่านทำไม่ได้จะไม่มีเลย

²⁰He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

²¹แต่ผีชนิดนี้ไม่เคยถูกขับออก เว้นไว้โดยการอธิษฐานและการอดอาหาร"

²¹ But this kind doesn’t go out except by prayer and fasting.”

²²ครั้นพระองค์กับเหล่าสาวกอาศัยอยู่ในแคว้นกาลิลี พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "บุตรมนุษย์จะต้องถูกทรยศไว้ในมือของคนทั้งหลาย

²²While they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men,

²³และเขาทั้งหลายจะประหารชีวิตท่านเสีย ในวันที่สามท่านจะกลับฟื้นขึ้นมาใหม่" พวกสาวกก็พากันเป็นทุกข์ยิ่งนัก

²³ and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” They were exceedingly sorry.

²⁴เมื่อพระองค์กับเหล่าสาวกมาถึงเมืองคาเปอรนาอุมแล้ว ผู้เก็บค่าบำรุงพระวิหารมาหาเปโตรถามว่า "อาจารย์ของท่านไม่เสียค่าบำรุงพระวิหารหรือ"

²⁴When they had come to Capernaum, those who collected the didrachma coins A didrachma is a Greek silver coin worth 2 drachmas, about as much as 2 Roman denarii, or about 2 days’ wages. It was commonly used to pay the half-shekel temple tax, because 2 drachmas were worth one half shekel of silver. came to Peter, and said, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the didrachma?”

²⁵เปโตรตอบว่า "เสีย" เมื่อเปโตรเข้าไปในเรือน พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาก่อนว่า "ซีโมนเอ๋ย ท่านเห็นอย่างไร กษัตริย์ของแผ่นดินโลกเคยเก็บส่วยและภาษีจากผู้ใด จากโอรสหรือจากผู้อื่น"

²⁵He said, “Yes.” When he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? From their children, or from strangers?”

²⁶เปโตรทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "เคยเก็บจากผู้อื่น" พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ถ้าเช่นนั้นโอรสก็ไม่ต้องเสีย

²⁶Peter said to him, “From strangers.” Jesus said to him, “Therefore the children are exempt.

²⁷แต่เพื่อมิให้เขาเข้าใจผิด ท่านจงไปตกเบ็ดที่ทะเล เมื่อได้ปลาตัวแรกขึ้นมาก็ให้เปิดปากมัน แล้วจะพบเงินแผ่นหนึ่ง จงเอาเงินนั้นไปชำระค่าบำรุงพระวิหารสำหรับเรากับท่านเถิด"

²⁷ But, lest we cause them to stumble, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take up the first fish that comes up. When you have opened its mouth, you will find a stater coin. A stater is a silver coin equivalent to four Attic or two Alexandrian drachmas, or a Jewish shekel: just exactly enough to cover the half-shekel temple tax for two people. Take that, and give it to them for me and you.”
