¹ครั้งนั้นพระวิญญาณทรงนำพระเยซูเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เพื่อพญามารจะได้มาทดลอง

¹Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

²และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงอดพระกระยาหารสี่สิบวันสี่สิบคืนแล้ว ภายหลังพระองค์ก็ทรงอยากพระกระยาหาร

²When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward.

³เมื่อผู้ทดลองมาหาพระองค์ มันก็ทูลว่า "ถ้าท่านเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า จงสั่งก้อนหินเหล่านี้ให้กลายเป็นพระกระยาหาร"

³The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

⁴ฝ่ายพระองค์ตรัสตอบว่า "มีพระคัมภีร์เขียนไว้ว่า `มนุษย์จะบำรุงชีวิตด้วยอาหารสิ่งเดียวหามิได้ แต่บำรุงด้วยพระวจนะทุกคำซึ่งออกมาจากพระโอษฐ์ของพระเจ้า'"

⁴But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’” Deuteronomy 8:3

⁵แล้วพญามารก็นำพระองค์ไปยังนครบริสุทธิ์ และให้พระองค์ประทับที่ยอดหลังคาพระวิหาร

⁵Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple,

⁶แล้วทูลพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าท่านเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า จงโจนลงไปเถิด เพราะพระคัมภีร์มีเขียนไว้ว่า `พระองค์จะรับสั่งให้เหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระองค์รักษาท่าน และเหล่าทูตสวรรค์จะเอามือประคองชูท่านไว้ เกรงว่าในเวลาหนึ่งเวลาใดเท้าของท่านจะกระแทกหิน'"

⁶and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, ‘He will put his angels in charge of you.’ and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don’t dash your foot against a stone.’” Psalm 91:11-12

⁷พระเยซูจึงตรัสตอบมันว่า "พระคัมภีร์มีเขียนไว้อีกว่า `อย่าทดลององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าผู้เป็นพระเจ้าของท่าน'"

⁷Jesus said to him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not test the Lord, your God.’” Deuteronomy 6:16

⁸อีกครั้งหนึ่งพญามารได้นำพระองค์ขึ้นไปบนภูเขาอันสูงยิ่งนัก และได้แสดงบรรดาราชอาณาจักรในโลก ทั้งความรุ่งเรืองของราชอาณาจักรเหล่านั้นให้พระองค์ทอดพระเนตร

⁸Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory.

⁹แล้วได้ทูลพระองค์ว่า "ถ้าท่านจะกราบลงนมัสการเรา เราจะให้สิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้แก่ท่าน"

⁹He said to him, “I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.”

¹⁰พระเยซูจึงตรัสตอบมันว่า "อ้ายซาตาน จงไปเสียให้พ้น เพราะพระคัมภีร์มีเขียนไว้ว่า `จงนมัสการองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าผู้เป็นพระเจ้าของท่าน และปรนนิบัติพระองค์แต่ผู้เดียว'"

¹⁰Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, TR and NU read “Go away” instead of “Get behind me” Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’” Deuteronomy 6:13

¹¹แล้วพญามารจึงละพระองค์ไป และดูเถิด มีเหล่าทูตสวรรค์มาปรนนิบัติพระองค์

¹¹Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.

¹²ครั้นพระเยซูทรงได้ยินว่ายอห์นถูกจำไว้แล้ว พระองค์ก็เสด็จไปยังแคว้นกาลิลี

¹²Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee.

¹³แล้วย้ายที่ประทับจากเมืองนาซาเร็ธ พระองค์เสด็จไปอยู่ที่เมืองคาเปอรนาอุม ซึ่งอยู่ริมทะเลสาบที่เขตคนเศบูลลุนและนัฟทาลี

¹³Leaving Nazareth, he came and lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,

¹⁴เพื่อจะสำเร็จตามพระวจนะซึ่งตรัสไว้โดยอิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์ว่า

¹⁴that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,

¹⁵`แคว้นเศบูลลุนและแคว้นนัฟทาลีทางข้างทะเลฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างโน้น คือกาลิลีแห่งบรรดาประชาชาติ

¹⁵“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,

¹⁶ประชาชนผู้นั่งอยู่ในความมืดได้เห็นความสว่างยิ่งใหญ่ และผู้ที่นั่งอยู่ในแดนและเงาแห่งความตาย ก็มีความสว่างขึ้นส่องถึงเขาแล้ว'

¹⁶the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, to them light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:1-2

¹⁷ตั้งแต่นั้นมาพระเยซูได้ทรงตั้งต้นประกาศว่า "จงกลับใจเสียใหม่ เพราะว่าอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์มาใกล้แล้ว"

¹⁷From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

¹⁸ขณะที่พระเยซูทรงดำเนินอยู่ตามชายทะเลกาลิลี ก็ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพี่น้องสองคน คือซีโมนที่เรียกว่าเปโตร กับอันดรูว์น้องชาย กำลังทอดอวนอยู่ที่ทะเลสาบ เพราะเขาเป็นชาวประมง

¹⁸Walking by the sea of Galilee, he TR reads “Jesus” instead of “he” saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

¹⁹พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "จงตามเรามาเถิด และเราจะตั้งท่านให้เป็นผู้หาคนดั่งหาปลา"

¹⁹He said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”

²⁰เขาทั้งสองได้ละอวนตามพระองค์ไปทันที

²⁰They immediately left their nets and followed him.

²¹ครั้นพระองค์เสด็จต่อไป ก็ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพี่น้องอีกสองคน คือยากอบบุตรชายเศเบดีกับยอห์นน้องชายของเขา กำลังชุนอวนอยู่ในเรือกับเศเบดีบิดาของเขา พระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกเขา

²¹Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.

²²ในทันใดนั้นเขาทั้งสองก็ละเรือและลาบิดาของเขาตามพระองค์ไป

²²They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.

²³พระเยซูได้เสด็จไปทั่วแคว้นกาลิลี ทรงสั่งสอนในธรรมศาลาของเขา ทรงประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแห่งอาณาจักร และทรงรักษาโรคภัยไข้เจ็บทุกอย่างของชาวเมืองให้หาย

²³Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

²⁴กิตติศัพท์ของพระองค์ก็เลื่องลือไปทั่วประเทศซีเรีย เขาจึงพาบรรดาคนป่วยเป็นโรคต่างๆ คนที่ทนทุกข์เวทนา คนผีเข้า คนเป็นลมบ้าหมู และคนเป็นอัมพาตมาหาพระองค์ พระองค์ก็ทรงรักษาเขาให้หาย

²⁴The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.

²⁵และมีคนหมู่ใหญ่มาจากแคว้นกาลิลี และแคว้นทศบุรี และกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และแคว้นยูเดีย และแม่น้ำจอร์แดนฟากข้างโน้น ติดตามพระองค์ไป

²⁵Great multitudes from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and from beyond the Jordan followed him.
