¹Now in the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackcloth, and earth on them.

²และเชื่อสายของอิสราเอลได้แยกตนออกจากชนต่างชาติทั้งปวง และยืนสารภาพบาปของตน และสารภาพความชั่วช้าแห่งบรรพบุรุษของเขา

²The seed of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

³และเขาลุกขึ้นในที่ของเขา และอ่านหนังสือพระราชบัญญัติของพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเขาอยู่สามชั่วโมง อีกสามชั่วโมงเขาสารภาพและนมัสการพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลาย

³They stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of Yahweh their God a fourth part of the day; and a fourth part they confessed, and worshiped Yahweh their God.

⁴Then Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani of the Levites stood up on the stairs, and cried with a loud voice to Yahweh their God.

⁵Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, “Stand up and bless Yahweh your God from everlasting to everlasting! Bessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise!

⁶พระองค์คือพระเยโฮวาห์พระองค์องค์เดียว พระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างฟ้าสวรรค์ ฟ้าสวรรค์อันสูงสุดพร้อมกับบริวารทั้งสิ้นของฟ้าสวรรค์นั้น แผ่นดินโลกและบรรดาสิ่งที่อยู่ในนั้น ทะเลและบรรดาสิ่งที่อยู่ในนั้น และพระองค์ทรงรักษาสิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านั้นไว้ และบริวารของฟ้าสวรรค์ได้นมัสการพระองค์

⁶You are Yahweh, even you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their army, the earth and all things that are on it, the seas and all that is in them, and you preserve them all. The army of heaven worships you.

⁷พระองค์คือพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าผู้ทรงเลือกอับราม และทรงนำท่านออกมาจากเมืองเออร์แห่งประเทศเคลเดีย และทรงประทานนามท่านว่าอับราฮัม

⁷You are Yahweh, the God who chose Abram, and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gave him the name of Abraham,

⁸และพระองค์ทรงเห็นว่าน้ำใจของท่านสัตย์ซื่อต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์ และพระองค์ได้ทรงกระทำพันธสัญญากับท่าน ที่จะประทานแผ่นดินของคนคานาอัน คนฮิตไทต์ คนอาโมไรต์ คนเปริสซี คนเยบุส และคนเกอร์กาชีให้แก่เชื้อสายของท่าน และพระองค์ทรงกระทำให้คำตรัสของพระองค์สำเร็จ เพราะพระองค์ชอบธรรม

⁸and found his heart faithful before you, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, to give it to his seed, and have performed your words; for you are righteous.

⁹และพระองค์ทอดพระเนตรความทุกข์ใจของบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ในอียิปต์ และฟังเสียงร้องทุกข์ของเขาทั้งหลายที่ทะเลแดง

⁹“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds ,

¹⁰และพระองค์ทรงกระทำหมายสำคัญและการมหัศจรรย์สู้ฟาโรห์และข้าราชการทั้งสิ้น และต่อประชาชนทั้งสิ้นแห่งแผ่นดินของฟาโรห์ เพราะพระองค์ทรงทราบว่าเขาทั้งหลายได้ประพฤติอย่างหยิ่งยโสต่อบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ และพระนามของพระองค์ก็ลือไป ดังทุกวันนี้

¹⁰and showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, and against all his servants, and against all the people of his land; for you knew that they dealt proudly against them, and made a name for yourself, as it is this day.

¹¹และพระองค์ได้ทรงแยกทะเลต่อหน้าเขาทั้งหลาย เขาจึงเดินไปกลางทะเลบนดินแห้ง และพระองค์ได้ทรงเหวี่ยงผู้ข่มเหงเขาทั้งหลายลงในที่ลึกอย่างกับทรงเหวี่ยงหินลงไปในมหาสมุทร

¹¹You divided the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and you cast their pursuers into the depths, as a stone into the mighty waters.

¹²ยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก พระองค์ทรงนำเขาในกลางวันด้วยเสาเมฆและในกลางคืนด้วยเสาเพลิง เพื่อให้แสงแก่เขาในทางที่เขาควรจะไป

¹²Moreover, in a pillar of cloud you led them by day; and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light in the way in which they should go.

¹³พระองค์เสด็จลงมาบนภูเขาซีนายและตรัสกับเขาจากฟ้าสวรรค์ และประทานคำตัดสินอันชอบ และพระราชบัญญัติที่แท้ กฎเกณฑ์และพระบัญญัติที่ดีแก่เขา

¹³“You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,

¹⁴และพระองค์ทรงให้เขาทราบถึงวันสะบาโตบริสุทธิ์ของพระองค์ และทรงบัญชาข้อบังคับ กฎเกณฑ์และพระราชบัญญัติทางโมเสสผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์

¹⁴and made known to them your holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, and statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant,

¹⁵พระองค์ประทานอาหารแก่เขาจากฟ้าสวรรค์แก้ความหิว และทรงนำน้ำออกมาจากศิลาให้เขาแก้กระหาย และพระองค์ทรงสัญญาไว้ว่าจะให้เขาเข้าไปยึดแผ่นดินซึ่งพระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณว่าจะประทานให้เขานั้น

¹⁵and gave them bread from the sky for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and commanded them that they should go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them.

¹⁶แต่เขาทั้งหลาย คือบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายได้ประพฤติอย่างหยิ่งยโส และแข็งคอของเขาเสีย มิได้เชื่อฟังพระบัญญัติของพระองค์

¹⁶“But they and our fathers dealt proudly and hardened their neck, didn’t listen to your commandments,

¹⁷เขาทั้งหลายปฏิเสธไม่เชื่อฟัง และไม่เอาใจใส่ในการมหัศจรรย์ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงประกอบขึ้นท่ามกลางเขา แต่เขาแข็งคอของเขา และในการกบฏนั้นได้แต่งตั้งหัวหน้าเพื่อจะกลับไปสู่ความเป็นทาสเขา แต่พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าพร้อมที่จะทรงให้อภัย มีพระทัยเมตตาและกรุณา ทรงพระพิโรธช้า และทรงอุดมด้วยความเมตตา และมิได้ทรงละทิ้งเขาทั้งหลาย

¹⁷and refused to obey, neither were they mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and didn’t forsake them.

¹⁸แม้ว่าเขาทั้งหลายได้สร้างรูปวัวหล่อไว้สำหรับตัวและกล่าวว่า `นี่คือพระเจ้าของเจ้า ผู้ทรงนำเจ้าขึ้นมาจากอียิปต์' และได้กระทำการหมิ่นประมาทอย่างใหญ่หลวง

¹⁸Yes, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ and had committed awful blasphemies;

¹⁹ด้วยพระกรุณาซับซ้อนของพระองค์ พระองค์ก็มิได้ทรงละทิ้งเขาในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เสาเมฆซึ่งนำเขาในกลางวันมิได้พรากจากเขาไป หรือเสาเพลิงในกลางคืนซึ่งให้แสงแก่เขาตามทางซึ่งเขาควรจะไปก็มิได้ขาดไป

¹⁹yet you in your manifold mercies didn’t forsake them in the wilderness: the pillar of cloud didn’t depart from over them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go.

²⁰พระองค์ประทานพระวิญญาณอันประเสริฐให้สั่งสอนเขา และมิได้ทรงยับยั้งมานาของพระองค์เสียจากปากของเขาทั้งหลาย และประทาน้ำแก้กระหายของเขา

²⁰You gave also your good Spirit to instruct them, and didn’t withhold your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.

²¹เออ พระองค์ทรงชุบเลี้ยงเขาทั้งหลายในถิ่นทุรกันดารสี่สิบปี และเขามิได้ขาดสิ่งใดเลย เสื้อผ้าของเขาไม่ขาดวิ่น และเท้าของเขามิได้บวม

²¹“Yes, forty years you sustained them in the wilderness. They lacked nothing. Their clothes didn’t grow old, and their feet didn’t swell.

²²และยิ่งกว่านั้นอีก พระองค์ทรงมอบราชอาณาจักรและชนชาติทั้งหลายแก่เขา และทรงปันให้เขาตามเขตแดน เขาจึงได้ยึดแผ่นดินแห่งสิโหน และแผ่นดินของกษัตริย์แห่งเมืองเฮชโบน และแผ่นดินของโอกกษัตริย์แห่งเมืองบาชาน

²²Moreover you gave them kingdoms and peoples, which you allotted according to their portions. So they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

²³พระองค์ทรงทวีลูกหลานของเขาอย่างดวงดาวแห่งฟ้าสวรรค์ และพระองค์ทรงนำเขาเข้าไปในแผ่นดิน ซึ่งพระองค์ตรัสสัญญาไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของเขาให้เข้าไปยึดนั้น

²³You also multiplied their children as the stars of the sky, and brought them into the land concerning which you said to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.

²⁴ลูกหลานเหล่านั้นจึงเข้าไปและยึดแผ่นดินนั้น พระองค์ทรงปราบปรามชาวแผ่นดินนั้น คือคนคานาอันให้พ้นหน้าเขา และทรงมอบเขาทั้งหลายไว้ในมือของเขา พร้อมกับกษัตริย์และชนชาติทั้งหลายแห่งแผ่นดินนั้น ให้ได้กระทำแก่คนเหล่านั้นตามชอบใจเขา

²⁴“So the children went in and possessed the land, and you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings, and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they pleased.

²⁵และเขาจึงเข้ายึดหัวเมืองที่มีป้อม และแผ่นดินอุดม และถือกรรมสิทธิ์เรือนซึ่งเต็มด้วยของดีทั้งปวง ทั้งที่ขังน้ำซึ่งสกัดไว้ สวนองุ่น สวนมะกอกเทศ และต้นผลไม้มากมาย เขาจึงได้กินอิ่มจนอ้วน และปีติยินดีในพระคุณยิ่งของพระองค์

²⁵They took fortified cities, and a rich land, and possessed houses full of all good things, cisterns dug out, vineyards, and olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate, were filled, became fat, and delighted themselves in your great goodness.

²⁶ถึงกระนั้นก็ดี เขาไม่เชื่อฟังและได้กบฏต่อพระองค์ เหวี่ยงพระราชบัญญัติของพระองค์ไว้เบื้องหลัง และได้ฆ่าผู้พยากรณ์ของพระองค์ ผู้ซึ่งได้ตักเตือนเขาเพื่อให้เขากลับมาหาพระองค์ และเขากระทำการหมิ่นประมาทอย่างใหญ่หลวง

²⁶“Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against you, and cast your law behind their back, and killed your prophets that testified against them to turn them again to you, and they committed awful blasphemies.

²⁷เพราะฉะนั้นพระองค์ทรงมอบเขาไว้ในมือศัตรูของเขา ผู้ซึ่งกระทำให้เขาทนทุกข์และในเวลาแห่งการทนทุกข์ของเขานั้น เขาร้องทูลต่อพระองค์ และพระองค์ทรงฟังเขาจากฟ้าสวรรค์ พระองค์ได้ประทานบรรดาผู้ช่วยแก่เขา ผู้ได้ช่วยเขาให้พ้นจากมือศัตรูของเขาตามพระกรุณาซับซ้อนของพระองค์

²⁷Therefore you delivered them into the hand of their adversaries, who distressed them. In the time of their trouble, when they cried to you, you heard from heaven; and according to your manifold mercies you gave them saviors who saved them out of the hand of their adversaries.

²⁸แต่เมื่อเขาพักสงบแล้ว เขาก็กระทำความชั่วต่อพระพักตร์พระองค์อีก พระองค์จึงทรงสละเขาไว้ในมือศัตรูของเขา ศัตรูจึงได้ปกครองเขา ถึงกระนั้นเมื่อเขาหันมาร้องทูลต่อพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงฟังเขาจากฟ้าสวรรค์ และพระองค์ทรงช่วยเขาให้พ้นหลายครั้งหลายหน ตามพระกรุณาของพระองค์

²⁸But after they had rest, they did evil again before you; therefore left you them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them; yet when they returned, and cried to you, you heard from heaven; and many times you delivered them according to your mercies,

²⁹และพระองค์ทรงตักเตือนเขา เพื่อว่าจะทรงหันเขาให้กลับมาสู่พระราชบัญญัติของพระองค์ แต่เขาก็ยังประพฤติอย่างเย่อหยิ่งอวดดี ไม่ยอมเชื่อฟังพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ แต่ได้กระทำผิดต่อคำตัดสินของพระองค์ (อันเป็นข้อปฏิบัติซึ่งมนุษย์จะดำรงชีพอยู่ได้) และได้หันบ่าดื้อและคอแข็งเข้าสู้และมิได้เชื่อฟัง

²⁹and testified against them, that you might bring them again to your law. Yet they dealt proudly, and didn’t listen to your commandments, but sinned against your ordinances, (which if a man does, he shall live in them), turned their backs, stiffened their neck, and would not hear.

³⁰พระองค์ทรงอดทนกับเขาอยู่หลายปี และทรงเตือนเขาด้วยพระวิญญาณของพระองค์ทางผู้พยากรณ์ของพระองค์ เขาก็ยังไม่เงี่ยหูฟัง เพราะฉะนั้นพระองค์จึงทรงมอบเขาไว้ในมือของชนชาติทั้งหลายแห่งแผ่นดินนั้น

³⁰Yet many years you put up with them, and testified against them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet would they not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

³¹ถึงกระนั้นด้วยพระกรุณาซับซ้อนของพระองค์ พระองค์มิได้ทรงกระทำให้เขาพินาศหรือละทิ้งเขาเสีย เพราะพระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าผู้ทรงพระเมตตาและพระกรุณา

³¹“Nevertheless in your manifold mercies you did not make a full end of them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.

³²ข้าแต่พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ซึ่งเป็นพระเจ้าใหญ่ยิ่ง ทรงฤทธิ์และน่าเกรงกลัว ผู้ทรงรักษาพันธสัญญาและความเมตตา ฉะนั้นบัดนี้ขอพระองค์อย่าทรงเห็นว่าความทุกข์ยากลำบากทั้งสิ้นนั้นเป็นแต่สิ่งเล็กน้อยซึ่งบังเกิดขึ้นกับข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย กับบรรดากษัตริย์ของข้าพระองค์ กับบรรดาเจ้านาย บรรดาปุโรหิต บรรดาผู้พยากรณ์ บรรพบุรุษ และชนชาติของพระองค์ทั้งสิ้น ตั้งแต่สมัยกษัตริย์อัสซีเรีย จนถึงวันนี้

³²Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness, don’t let all the travail seem little before you, that has come on us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria to this day.

³³แต่ในบรรดาสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นแก่ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย พระองค์ยุติธรรม เพราะพระองค์ทรงประกอบกิจอย่างเที่ยงตรง แต่ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายประพฤติอย่างชั่วร้าย

³³However you are just in all that has come on us; for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly;

³⁴บรรดากษัตริย์ เจ้านาย ปุโรหิต และบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย มิได้รักษาพระราชบัญญัติของพระองค์ หรือเชื่อฟังพระบัญญัติของพระองค์ และพระโอวาทของพระองค์ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงเตือนเขา

³⁴neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor listened to your commandments and your testimonies with which you testified against them.

³⁵เพราะเขาทั้งหลายมิได้ปรนนิบัติพระองค์ในราชอาณาจักรของเขา ในพระคุณยิ่งของพระองค์ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงประทานแก่เขา และในแผ่นดินที่ใหญ่อุดมซึ่งพระองค์ทรงยกให้แก่เขา และเขามิได้หันกลับจากการชั่วร้ายของเขา

³⁵For they have not served you in their kingdom, and in your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and rich land which you gave before them, neither did they turn from their wicked works.

³⁶ดูเถิด วันนี้ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเป็นทาสในแผ่นดินที่พระองค์ประทานแก่บรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย เพื่อให้ได้รับประทานพืชผลกับของอันดีของมัน ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายเป็นทาสในแผ่นดินนั้น

³⁶“Behold, we are servants this day, and as for the land that you gave to our fathers to eat its fruit and its good, behold, we are servants in it.

³⁷และผลิตผลอันมากมายของแผ่นดินนั้นก็ตกแก่กษัตริย์ผู้ที่พระองค์ทรงตั้งไว้เหนือข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ด้วยเหตุบาปของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย เขาทั้งหลายมีอำนาจเหนือร่างกาย และเหนือฝูงสัตว์ของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ตามความพอใจของเขาทั้งหลาย และข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายทุกข์นัก

³⁷It yields much increase to the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins: also they have power over our bodies, and over our livestock, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

³⁸เหตุบรรดาสิ่งเหล่านี้เราทั้งหลายจึงกระทำพันธสัญญามั่นคงและบันทึกไว้ เจ้านาย คนเลวีและปุโรหิตของเราทั้งหลายจึงประทับตราของเขาไว้"

³⁸Yet for all this, we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, our Levites, and our priests, seal it.”
