1อย่าคิดริษยาคนชั่ว หรือปรารถนาอยู่ร่วมกับเขา
1Don’t be envious of evil men; neither desire to be with them:
2เพราะว่าใจของเขาคิดประกอบการทำลาย และริมฝีปากของเขาพูดการประทุษร้าย
2for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about mischief.
3เรือนนั้นเขาสร้างกันด้วยปัญญา และสถาปนามันไว้ด้วยความเข้าใจ
3Through wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established;
4โดยความรู้บรรดาห้องก็เต็มไปด้วยความมั่งคั่งล้วนประเสริฐและเพลิดเพลินทั้งสิ้น
4by knowledge the rooms are filled with all rare and beautiful treasure.
5คนฉลาดมีกำลังมาก และคนมีความรู้ก็เพิ่มกำลังขึ้น
5A wise man has great power; and a knowledgeable man increases strength;
6เพราะว่าโดยการนำที่ฉลาด เจ้าก็จะเข้าสงครามได้ และด้วยมีที่ปรึกษามากๆก็มีความปลอดภัย
6for by wise guidance you wage your war; and victory is in many advisors.
7สำหรับคนโง่นั้นปัญญาสูงเกินไป ที่ประตูเมืองเขาไม่อ้าปากพูด
7Wisdom is too high for a fool: he doesn’t open his mouth in the gate.
8บุคคลผู้กะแผนงานทำความชั่วเขาเรียกกันว่าคนเจ้าเล่ห์
8One who plots to do evil will be called a schemer.
9การคิดในเรื่องที่โง่เขลาเป็นบาป และคนมักเยาะเย้ยเป็นที่น่าเกลียดน่าชังแก่มนุษย์
9The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.
10ถ้าเจ้าท้อใจในวันแห่งความชั่วร้าย กำลังของเจ้าก็น้อย
10If you falter in the time of trouble, your strength is small.
11ถ้าเจ้าไม่ช่วยบรรดาผู้ที่ถูกนำไปสู่ความมรณา และไม่ช่วยบรรดาผู้ที่ตุปัดตุเป๋ไปเพื่อถูกฆ่าให้รอด
11Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!
12ถ้าเจ้าจะว่า "ดูเถิด เราไม่รู้เรื่องนี้เลย" พระองค์ผู้ทรงชั่งใจจะไม่ทรงเพ่งเล็งเห็นหรือ พระองค์ผู้ทรงเฝ้าวิญญาณอยู่เหนือเจ้าจะไม่ทราบหรือ และพระองค์จะไม่ทรงเรียกเอาจากทุกคนตามการกระทำของเขาหรือ
12If you say, “Behold, we didn’t know this”; doesn’t he who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, doesn’t he know it? Shall he not render to every man according to his work?
13บุตรชายของเราเอ๋ย จงรับประทานน้ำผึ้งเพราะเป็นของดี และรวงผึ้งซึ่งมีรสหวาน
13My son, eat honey, for it is good; the droppings of the honeycomb, which are sweet to your taste:
14การรู้จักปัญญาก็เป็นเช่นนั้นแก่วิญญาณของเจ้า เมื่อเจ้าพบปัญญาก็จะมีบำเหน็จ และความคาดหวังของเจ้าจะไม่ถูกตัดออก
14so you shall know wisdom to be to your soul; if you have found it, then there will be a reward, your hope will not be cut off.
15คนชั่วร้ายเอ๋ย อย่าหมอบคอยเพื่อต่อสู้กับที่อาศัยของคนชอบธรรม อย่าปล้นเรือนของเขา
15Don’t lay in wait, wicked man, against the habitation of the righteous. Don’t destroy his resting place:
16เพราะคนชอบธรรมล้มลงเจ็ดครั้งแล้วก็ลุกขึ้นอีก แต่คนชั่วร้ายจะตกอยู่ในอาการร้าย
16for a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again; but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
17อย่าเปรมปรีดิ์เมื่อศัตรูของเจ้าล้ม และอย่าให้ใจของเจ้ายินดีเมื่อเขาสะดุด
17Don’t rejoice when your enemy falls. Don’t let your heart be glad when he is overthrown;
18เกรงว่าพระเยโฮวาห์จะทอดพระเนตรและไม่ทรงพอพระทัย และทรงหันความกริ้วจากเขาเสีย
18lest Yahweh see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19เจ้าอย่ากระวนกระวายเพราะคนชั่ว และอย่ามีใจริษยาคนชั่วร้าย
19Don’t fret yourself because of evildoers; neither be envious of the wicked:
20เพราะคนชั่วจะไม่มีบำเหน็จ ประทีปของคนชั่วร้ายจะถูกดับเสีย
20for there will be no reward to the evil man; and the lamp of the wicked shall be snuffed out.
21บุตรชายของเราเอ๋ย จงยำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์และกษัตริย์ อย่าเข้ายุ่งกับคนที่หันกลับจากพระองค์ทั้งสองนั้น
21My son, fear Yahweh and the king. Don’t join those who are rebellious:
22เพราะภัยพิบัติจากพระองค์ทั้งสองจะอุบัติขึ้นโดยพลัน และผู้ใดจะทราบถึงความพินาศที่จะมาจากพระองค์ทั้งสอง
22for their calamity will rise suddenly; the destruction from them both—who knows?
23ข้อความเหล่านี้เป็นคำกล่าวของปราชญ์ด้วย การเห็นแก่หน้าคนใดในการตัดสินนั้นไม่ดีเลย
23These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.
24บุคคลผู้กล่าวแก่คนชั่วร้ายว่า "เจ้าไร้ความผิด" จะถูกชนชาติทั้งหลายแช่งและประชาชาติจะรังเกียจ
24He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous”; peoples shall curse him, and nations shall abhor him—
25แต่บรรดาผู้ขนาบเขาจะมีความปีติยินดี และพรอันดีจะมีอยู่กับเขา
25but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and a rich blessing will come on them.
26ทุกคนจะจุบริมฝีปากของผู้ให้คำตอบที่ถูก
26An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.
27จงเตรียมงานของเจ้าที่ภายนอก ทำทุกอย่างของเจ้าให้พร้อมที่ในนา และหลังจากนั้นก็จงสร้างเรือนของเจ้า
27Prepare your work outside, and get your fields ready. Afterwards, build your house.
28อย่าเป็นพยานปรักปรำเพื่อนบ้านของเจ้าอย่างไม่มีเหตุ และอย่าล่อลวงด้วยริมฝีปากของเจ้า
28Don’t be a witness against your neighbor without cause. Don’t deceive with your lips.
29อย่ากล่าวว่า "ข้าจะทำแก่เขาอย่างที่เขาได้ทำแล้วแก่ข้า ข้าจะทำตอบแก่เขาอย่างที่เขาได้กระทำ"
29Don’t say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.”
30เราผ่านไปที่ไร่นาของคนเกียจคร้าน ข้างสวนองุ่นของคนที่ไร้ความเข้าใจ
30I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31และดูเถิด มีหนามงอกเต็มไปหมด และแผ่นดินก็เต็มไปด้วยตำแย และกำแพงหินของมันก็พังลง
31Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.
32แล้วเราได้เห็นและพิเคราะห์ดู เรามองดูและได้รับคำสั่งสอน
32Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:
33"หลับนิด เคลิ้มหน่อย กอดมือพักนิดหน่อย
33a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep;
34แล้วความจนจะมาหาเจ้าอย่างนักท่องเที่ยว ความขัดสนอย่างคนถืออาวุธ"
34so your poverty will come as a robber, and your want as an armed man.
