¹The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.

²อะไรเล่า ลูกแม่เอ๋ย อะไรเล่า ลูกแห่งท้องแม่เอ๋ย อะไรเล่า ลูกแห่งคำปฏิญาณของแม่เอ๋ย

²“Oh, my son! Oh, son of my womb! Oh, son of my vows!

³อย่าให้กำลังของเจ้าแก่ผู้หญิง อย่าให้ทางของเจ้าแก่ผู้ทำลายกษัตริย์ใดๆ

³Don’t give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

⁴โอ เลมูเอลเอ๋ย ไม่สมควรที่กษัตริย์ ไม่สมควรที่กษัตริย์จะเสวยเหล้าองุ่น หรือผู้ที่ครอบครองจะดื่มสุรา

⁴It is not for kings, Lemuel; it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’

⁵เกรงว่าเขาจะดื่มและหลงลืมตัวบทกฎหมายนั้นเสีย และคำวินิจฉัยที่มีต่อคนทุกข์ยากก็ไขว้เขวไป

⁵lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.

⁶จงให้สุราแก่ผู้ที่กำลังจะพินาศ และน้ำองุ่นแก่ผู้ที่ทุกข์ใจอย่างขมขื่น

⁶Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish; and wine to the bitter in soul:

⁷จงให้เขาดื่มและลืมความยากจนของเขา เพื่อจะจดจำความระทมทุกข์ของเขาไม่ได้อีกต่อไป

⁷Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

⁸จงอ้าปากของเจ้าแทนคนใบ้ เพื่อสิทธิของทุกคนที่ถูกทิ้งร้างอยู่

⁸Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate.

⁹จงอ้าปากของเจ้า พิพากษาอย่างชอบธรรม รักษาสิทธิของคนจนและคนขัดสนให้คงอยู่

⁹Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.”

¹⁰ใครจะพบภรรยาที่ดี เพราะค่าของเธอประเสริฐยิ่งกว่าทับทิมมากนัก

¹¹จิตใจของสามีเธอก็วางใจในเธอ และสามีจะไม่ขาดกำไร

¹¹The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain.

¹²เธอจะทำความดีให้เขา ไม่ทำความร้าย ตลอดชีวิตของเธอ

¹²She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

¹³เธอแสวงขนแกะและป่าน และทำงานด้วยมืออย่างเต็มใจ

¹³She seeks wool and flax, and works eagerly with her hands.

¹⁴เธอเป็นเหมือนกำปั่นของพ่อค้า เธอนำอาหารของเธอมาจากที่ที่ไกล

¹⁴She is like the merchant ships. She brings her bread from afar.

¹⁵She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her household, and portions for her servant girls.

¹⁶She considers a field, and buys it. With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.

¹⁷She arms her waist with strength, and makes her arms strong.

¹⁸เธอรู้ว่าสินค้าของเธอเป็นของที่ดี กลางคืนตะเกียงของเธอก็ไม่ดับ

¹⁸She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.

¹⁹เธอยื่นมือออกจับไน และมือของเธอจับเครื่องปั่น

¹⁹She lays her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.

²⁰เธอหยิบยื่นให้คนยากจน เออ เธอยื่นมืออกช่วยคนขัดสน

²⁰She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.

²¹เธอไม่กลัวหิมะมาทำอันตรายแก่คนในครัวเรือนของเธอ เพราะบรรดาคนในครัวเรือนของเธอสวมเสื้อสีแดงสด

²¹She is not afraid of the snow for her household; for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

²²เธอทำผ้าปูสำหรับเธอด้วยสิ่งทอ เสื้อผ้าของเธอทำด้วยผ้าลินินและผ้าสีม่วง

²²She makes for herself carpets of tapestry. Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

²³สามีของเธอเป็นที่รู้จักที่ประตูเมือง เมื่อท่านนั่งอยู่ในหมู่พวกผู้ใหญ่ของแผ่นดินนั้น

²³Her husband is respected in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

²⁴เธอทำเครื่องแต่งกายด้วยผ้าลินินไว้ขาย เธอส่งผ้าคาดเอวให้แก่พ่อค้า

²⁴She makes linen garments and sells them, and delivers sashes to the merchant.

²⁵กำลังและเกียรติยศเป็นเครื่องนุ่งห่มของเธอ เธอจะปลื้มปิติในอนาคต

²⁵Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.

²⁶เธออ้าปากกล่าวด้วยสติปัญญา และกฎเกณฑ์แห่งความกรุณาก็อยู่ที่ลิ้นของเธอ

²⁶She opens her mouth with wisdom. Faithful instruction is on her tongue.

²⁷เธอดูแลการงานในครัวเรือนของเธอ และไม่รับประทานอาหารแห่งความเกียจคร้าน

²⁷She looks well to the ways of her household, and doesn’t eat the bread of idleness.

²⁸ลูกๆของเธอตื่นขึ้นมาก็ชมเชยเธอ สามีของเธอก็สรรเสริญเธอ

²⁸Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her:

²⁹ว่า "สตรีเป็นอันมากทำอย่างดีเลิศ แต่เธอเลิศยิ่งกว่าเขาทั้งหมด"

²⁹“Many women do noble things, but you excel them all.”

³⁰เสน่ห์เป็นของหลอกลวง และความงามก็เปล่าประโยชน์ แต่สตรียำเกรงพระเยโฮวาห์จะได้รับการสรรเสริญ

³⁰Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.

³¹จงให้เธอรับผลแห่งน้ำมือของเธอ และให้การงานของเธอสรรเสริญเธอที่ประตูเมือง

³¹Give her of the fruit of her hands! Let her works praise her in the gates!
