1ถ้าเช่นนั้นแล้วเราจะว่าอย่างไร ควรเราจะอยู่ในบาปต่อไปเพื่อให้พระคุณมีมากยิ่งขึ้นหรือ
1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย พวกเราที่ตายต่อบาปแล้ว จะมีชีวิตในบาปต่อไปอย่างไรได้
2May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?
3ท่านไม่รู้หรือว่า เราทั้งหลายที่ได้รับบัพติศมาเข้าในพระเยซูคริสต์ ก็ได้รับบัพติศมานั้นเข้าในความตายของพระองค์
3Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4เหตุฉะนั้นเราจึงถูกฝังไว้กับพระองค์แล้วโดยการรับบัพติศมาเข้าส่วนในความตายนั้น เหมือนกับที่พระคริสต์ได้ทรงถูกชุบให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตาย โดยเดชพระรัศมีของพระบิดาอย่างไร เราก็จะได้ดำเนินตามชีวิตใหม่ด้วยอย่างนั้น
4We were buried therefore with him through baptism to death, that just like Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
5เพราะว่าถ้าเราเข้าสนิทกับพระองค์แล้วในการตายอย่างพระองค์ เราก็จะเป็นขึ้นมาอย่างพระองค์ได้ทรงเป็นขึ้นมาจากความตายด้วย
5For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;
6เราทั้งหลายรู้แล้วว่า มนุษย์เก่าของเรานั้นได้ถูกตรึงไว้กับพระองค์แล้ว เพื่อตัวที่บาปนั้นจะถูกทำลายให้สิ้นไป เพื่อเราจะไม่เป็นทาสของบาปอีกต่อไป
6knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
7เพราะว่าผู้ที่ตายแล้วก็พ้นจากบาป
7For he who has died has been freed from sin.
8แต่ถ้าเราตายแล้วกับพระคริสต์ เราเชื่อว่าเราจะมีชีวิตอยู่กับพระองค์ด้วย
8But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him;
9เราทั้งหลายรู้อยู่ว่า พระคริสต์ที่ทรงถูกชุบให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากตายแล้วนั้นจะหาตายอีกไม่ ความตายหาครอบงำพระองค์ต่อไปไม่
9knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no more has dominion over him!
10ด้วยว่าซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงตายนั้น พระองค์ได้ทรงตายต่อบาปหนเดียว แต่ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงมีชีวิตอยู่นั้น พระองค์ทรงมีชีวิตเพื่อพระเจ้า
10For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God.
11เหมือนกันเช่นนั้นแหละ ท่านทั้งหลายจงถือว่า ท่านได้ตายต่อบาปและมีชีวิตอยู่เพื่อพระเจ้า ในพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา
11Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12เหตุฉะนั้นอย่าให้บาปครอบงำกายที่ต้องตายของท่าน ซึ่งทำให้ต้องเชื่อฟังตัณหาของกายนั้น
12Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
13อย่ายกอวัยวะของท่านให้แก่บาป ให้เป็นเครื่องใช้ในการอธรรม แต่จงถวายตัวของท่านแด่พระเจ้า เหมือนหนึ่งคนที่เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตายแล้ว และจงให้อวัยวะของท่านเป็นเครื่องใช้ในการชอบธรรมถวายแด่พระเจ้า
13Neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14เพราะว่าบาปจะมีอำนาจเหนือท่านทั้งหลายต่อไปก็หามิได้ เพราะว่าท่านทั้งหลายมิได้อยู่ใต้พระราชบัญญัติ แต่อยู่ใต้พระคุณ
14For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.
15ถ้าเช่นนั้นจะเป็นอย่างไรต่อไป เราจะทำบาปเพราะมิได้อยู่ใต้พระราชบัญญัติแต่อยู่ใต้พระคุณกระนั้นหรือ ขอพระเจ้าอย่ายอมให้เป็นเช่นนั้นเลย
15What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? May it never be!
16ท่านทั้งหลายไม่รู้หรือว่า ท่านจะยอมตัวรับใช้เชื่อฟังคำของผู้ใด ท่านก็เป็นทาสของผู้ที่ท่านเชื่อฟังนั้น คือเป็นทาสของบาปซึ่งนำไปสู่ความตาย หรือเป็นทาสของการเชื่อฟังซึ่งนำไปสู่ความชอบธรรม
16Don’t you know that to whom you present yourselves as servants to obedience, his servants you are whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?
17แต่จงขอบพระคุณพระเจ้าเพราะว่าเมื่อก่อนนั้นท่านเป็นทาสของบาป แต่บัดนี้ท่านมีใจเชื่อฟังหลักคำสอนนั้นซึ่งทรงมอบไว้แก่ท่าน
17But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto you were delivered.
18เมื่อท่านพ้นจากบาปแล้ว ท่านก็ได้กลายเป็นทาสของความชอบธรรม
18Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.
19ข้าพเจ้ายกเอาตัวอย่างมนุษย์มาพูด เพราะเหตุเนื้อหนังของท่านอ่อนกำลัง เพราะท่านเคยให้อวัยวะของท่านเป็นทาสของการโสโครกและของความชั่วช้าซ้อนชั่วช้าฉันใด บัดนี้ท่านจงให้อวัยวะของท่านเป็นทาสของความชอบธรรม เพื่อให้ถึงความบริสุทธิ์ฉันนั้น
19I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh, for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness for sanctification.
20เพราะเมื่อท่านทั้งหลายเป็นทาสของบาป ความชอบธรรมก็ไม่ได้ครอบครองท่าน
20For when you were servants of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
21ขณะนั้นท่านได้ผลประโยชน์อะไรในการเหล่านั้น ซึ่งบัดนี้ท่านทั้งหลายก็ละอาย ด้วยว่าที่สุดท้ายของการเหล่านั้นก็คือความตาย
21What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
22แต่เดี๋ยวนี้ท่านทั้งหลายพ้นจากการเป็นทาสของบาป และกลับมาเป็นผู้รับใช้ของพระเจ้าแล้ว ผลที่ท่านได้รับก็คือความบริสุทธิ์ และผลสุดท้ายคือชีวิตนิรันดร์
22But now, being made free from sin, and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification, and the result of eternal life.
23เพราะว่าค่าจ้างของความบาปคือความตาย แต่ของประทานของพระเจ้าคือชีวิตนิรันดร์ในพระเยซูคริสต์องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าของเรา
23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
