¹Now all the publicans and sinners were drawing near unto him to hear him.

²To Parisi pai' guru agama mporuge' -i, ra'uli': "Ii, tau toe-idi mai mpobale-raka topojeko', pai' ngkoni' dohe-rae."

²And both the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

³Toe pai' Yesus mpololitai-ra hante lolita rapa' toi.

³And he spake unto them this parable, saying,

⁴Na'uli': "Rapa' -na ria doo-ta to ria-ki bima-na ha'atu ma'a. Ane moronto hama'a, napa to nababehi? Bate napalahii bima-na to sio mpulu' sio hi papada, pai' -i hilou mpali' bima-na to moronto duu' -na narua'.

⁴What man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

⁵Ane narua' -pi, uma mowo kagoe' -na. Ngkai kagoe' -na napololopongko' bima-na toei, pai' nakeni nculii' hilou hi tomi-na.

⁵And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

⁶Oti toe, pai' -i mpokio' bale-na pai' tongki-na, na'uli' -raka: `Mai-mokoi goe' dohe-ku. Apa' bima-ku to moronto kurua' nculii' -imi.'

⁶And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and his neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.

⁷Wae wo'o, ane hadua topojeko' medea ngkai jeko' -na, meliu kagoe' -ra ihi' suruga mpokagoe' -i ngkai kagoe' -ra mpokagoe' sio mpulu' sio tauna to monoa' po'ingku-ra, to uma-ra-rana mingki' medea.

⁷I say unto you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, [more] than over ninety and nine righteous persons, who need no repentance.

⁸"Rapa' -na ria hadua tobine to ria-ki hampulu' mpepa' doi pera' -na. Ane moronto hampepa', napa to nababehi? Mposuwe palita-i pai' -i mpehaii tomi-na, pai' napali' hiapa-apa karontoa-na, duu' -na narua'.

⁸Or what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she find it?

⁹Wae kanarua' -na, nakio' -ramo bale-na pai' tongki-na, na'uli' -raka: `Mai-mokoi goe' dohe-ku. Apa' kurua' nculii' -mi doi-ku to moronto.'

⁹And when she hath found it, she calleth together her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost.

¹⁰Wae wo'o-ra mala'eka Alata'ala mpokagoe' hadua tauna topojeko' to medea ngkai jeko' -na."

¹⁰Even so, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

¹¹Na'uli' tena Yesus: "Ria hadua tuama to ria-ki rodua ana' -na tomane.

¹¹And he said, A certain man had two sons:

¹²Tokahudu mpo'uli' -ki tuama-ra: `Mama, wai' ami' -ama-kuna bagia-ku ngkai rewa-nu.' Jadi', nabagi mpu'u-mi rewa-na hi ana' -na to rodua toera.

¹²and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of [thy] substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

¹³"Ba hangkuja eo olo' -na ngkai ree, ana' -na tokahudu mpobalu' bagia-na, pai' -i hilou hi ngata to molaa. Hi ria-i mpo'oti mara doi-na hante kehi to uma tumotoa.

¹³And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together and took his journey into a far country; and there he wasted his substance with riotous living.

¹⁴Ka'oti doi-na omea, ria-mi oro' hi ngata toe, duu' -na mpe'ahii' -mi tuwu' -na.

¹⁴And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that country; and he began to be in want.

¹⁵Hilou-imi hi pue' ngata doko' ngkoni' gaji'. Pue' ngata toei mpohubui-i mpodoo wawu-na.

¹⁵And he went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

¹⁶Ngkai kamo'oro' -na, mehina-imi-hawo doko' mpokoni' kano wawu. Hiaa' uma hema to mpowai' -i pongkoni'.

¹⁶And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

¹⁷"Ka'omea-na, mokanono-imi, na'uli': `Topobago hi tomi tuama-kule, melabi lia pongkoni' -ra. Hiaa' aku' -mi-kuna hi rehe'i, neo' mate modupu' -ama.

¹⁷But when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish here with hunger!

¹⁸Wae-pi, nculii' -ama hilou hi tuama-ku, ku'uli' -damo-ki: Mama, masala' -ama hi Pue' Ala pai' hi Mama wo'o.

¹⁸I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight:

¹⁹Uma-apa natao nukio' ana' -nu Mama. Agina nuponcawa batua-nua-damo.'

¹⁹I am no more worthy to be called your son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

²⁰Kame'ongko' -nami hilou hi tuama-na. "Molaa-i-pidi ngkai tomi-na, pehilo-mi tuama-na. Ngkai kama'ahi' -na, pokeno-nami hilou mpohirua' -ki ana' -na, nakupui pai' na'eki.

²⁰And he arose, and came to his father. But while he was yet afar off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

²¹Na'uli' -mi to ana': `Mama, masala' -ama hi Pue' Ala pai' hi Mama wo'o. Uma-apa natao nukio' ana' -nu....'

²¹And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight: I am no more worthy to be called thy son.

²²"Aga tuama-na mpokio' topobago-na, pai' na'uli' -raka: `Pesahui, ala' pohea to lompe' lia, pai' heai-i. Uncoi' karawe-na hante hinci, pai' sapatui' wo'o-i.

²²But the father said to his servants, Bring forth quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

²³Oti toe, hilou-koi mpohoko' ana' japi to morudu' pai' nisumale'. Ngkoni' -ta goe' -goe'!

²³and bring the fatted calf, [and] kill it, and let us eat, and make merry:

²⁴Apa' ana' -ku tohe'ii, ma'ala-mi ta'uli' mate-imi, aga tuwu' nculii' -imi. Moronto-i, aga kurua' nculii' -imi.' Kamosusa' -rami.

²⁴for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

²⁵"Nto'u toe, lingku' ana' -na to ulumua' hi bonea. Ponculi' -na ngkai bonea, mohu' -mi hi tomi, na'epe-hawo to molalowe pai' moni karamea.

²⁵Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.

²⁶Nakio' hadua topobago-ra, napompekunei' ba moapa-ra hi tomi.

²⁶And he called to him one of the servants, and inquired what these things might be.

²⁷Na'uli' topobago toei: `Tu'ai-nule, rata nculii' -imi-hawo! Tuama-nu mpehubui mposumale' ana' japi to morudu', apa' ana' -na to moronto narua' nculii' -mi hante kalompea' -na.'

²⁷And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

²⁸"Kamoroe-nami ana' to ulumua' toei, oja' -i mesua' hi rala tomi. Tuama-na hilou mpobawai-i mesua'.

²⁸But he was angry, and would not go in: and his father came out, and entreated him.

²⁹Tapi' na'uli' to ana': `Mompae-mpae-ama mobago huduwuku-ku mpobago-koko Mama. Uma-kuna hangkania-a mposapuaka hawa' -nu. Hiaa' ntahawe' hama'a kebe' -kuwo, ko'ia-kuna ria nuwai' -a bona kubabehi-kuwo kagoea' hante bale-ku.

²⁹But he answered and said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, and I never transgressed a commandment of thine; and [yet] thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

³⁰Hiaa' ana' -nu tetui to mpe'oti hinyai' rewa-nu hante tobine to ele', wae kanculii' -na nusumale' lau-ki japi to morudu'!'

³⁰but when this thy son came, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou killedst for him the fatted calf.

³¹"Na'uli' tuama-na: `Ana', iko-le tida dohe-ku oa' -ko-kona. Ihi' tomi-kule, iko wo'o pue' -na.

³¹And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is thine.

³²Hiaa' toto-na lia-ta mosusa' goe' -goe', apa' tu'ai-nu to mate-imi-hana, tuwu' nculii' -imi. Moronto-imi, tapi' tarua' nculii' -imi-hawo.'"

³²But it was meet to make merry and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive [again]; and [was] lost, and is found.
