Acts

25

1Lako' tolu eo-i Festus moparenta hi propinsi toe, me'ongko' -imi ngkai ngata Kaisarea hilou hi Yerusalem.
1Festus therefore, being come into the eparchy, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
2Karata-na hi ria, imam pangkeni pai' pangkeni to Yahudi ntani' -na mpohirua' -ki, pai' ra'uli' -ki pangadua' -ra to rapangadu' -ki Paulus.
2And the chief priests and the chief of the Jews laid informations before him against Paul, and besought him,
3Merapi' -ra hi Festus bona hante kalompe' nono-na nahubui tauna mpokeni Paulus tumai hi Yerusalem. Ntaa' we'i, patuju-ra doko' mpolede Paulus pai' mpopatehi-i hi lengko ohea.
3asking as a grace against him that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying people in wait to kill him on the way.
4Aga natompoi' Festus: "Ane Paulus, ratarungku' hi Kaisarea-i-hana. Pai' aku' uma-apa mahae hilou nculii' hi ria.
4Festus therefore answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to set out shortly.
5Agina hema-koi topololita hilou dohe-ku hi Kaisarea, bona hi ria-damo mpai' kupe'epei pangadua' -ni, ane ria mpu'u-ki kasalaa' -na."
5Let therefore the persons of authority among you, says he, going down too, if there be anything in this man, accuse him.
6Kira-kira nte walu mengi ba hampulu' bengi-i Festus hi Yerusalem, nculii' -imi hilou hi Kaisarea. Rata mpu'u-ramo hi Kaisarea, kamepulo-na narumpu-ramo omea topohura, pai' napahawa' tauna mpokeni Paulus tumai hi porumpua-ra.
6And having remained among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and on the next day, having sat down on the judgment-seat, commanded Paul to be brought.
7Karata-na Paulus, to Yahudi to tumai ngkai Yerusalem mokore mpotipuhi-i, pai' ra'uli' pangadua' -ra. Wori' nyala kasalaa' to dada'a to rapangadu' -ki, tapi' uma ria kanoo-noaa' -na pangadua' -ra toe.
7And when he was come, the Jews who were come down from Jerusalem stood round, bringing many and grievous charges which they were not able to prove:
8Paulus mpobaro lolita-ra, na'uli': "Uma-kuna ria hangkedia' sala' to kubabehi! Uma-a ria ntiboki atura to Yahudi, ba mpobaboi' Tomi Alata'ala, ba ncapuaka magau' hi Roma!"
8Paul answering for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I offended [in] anything.
9Apa' Festus doko' ngala' nono to Yahudi, toe pai' na'uli' mpo'uli' -ki Paulus: "Dota-ko hilou hi Yerusalem, bona hi ria-damo mpai' kupohurai kara-kara-nu?"
9But Festus, desirous of obliging the Jews, to acquire their favour, answering Paul, said, Art thou willing to go up to Jerusalem, there to be judged before me concerning these things?
10Na'uli' Paulus: "Tuama Gubernur! Toi-e, bula-ku mokore hi rehe'i hi kantoro' Gubernur, apa' Gubernur to jadi' wakele' Kaisar, magau' -ta hi Roma. Pai' bate topoparenta to Roma to natao mpobotuhi kara-kara-ku. Nu'inca moto ka'uma-na ria sala' -ku hi to Yahudi.
10But Paul said, I am standing before the judgment-seat of Caesar, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews have I done no wrong, as *thou* also very well knowest.
11Ane rapa' -na ria lau-ama mpotiboki atura mpobabehi to kasipato' -na rapatehi-ka, uma kuhuna rapatehi. Aga ane uma makono pangadua' -ra to Yahudi, uma ria haduaa to ma'ala mpotonu-a hi rala pale-ra. Mpopebua' -a kara-kara-ku hi Kaisar!"
11If then I have done any wrong and committed anything worthy of death, I do not deprecate dying; but if there is nothing of those things of which they accuse me, no man can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.
12Mpo'epe toe, Festus mololita hante hingka topohura-na. Oti toe, na'uli' mpo'uli' -ki Paulus: "Bo merapi' -ko mpobua' kara-kara-nu hi pobotuhia Kaisar, wae-pi bate hilou moto-ko hi ngata Roma mpohirua' -ki Kaisar."
12Then Festus, having conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed to Caesar. To Caesar shalt thou go.
13Uma mahae ngkai ree, Magau' Agripa hante Bernike, hilou hi ngata Kaisarea mpotabe Festus ngkai kara'ongko' -na jadi' gubernur.
13And when certain days had elapsed, Agrippa the king and Bernice arrived at Caesarea to salute Festus.
14Ba hangkuja mengi-ramo hi Kaisarea, Festus mpololita kara-kara Paulus hi Magau' Agripa, na'uli': "Ria hi rehe'i hadua tauna to ratarungku' nto'u poparenta-na Feliks.
14And when they had spent many days there, Festus laid before the king the matters relating to Paul, saying, There is a certain man left prisoner by Felix,
15Nto'u-ku ria hi Yerusalem wengi, imam pangkeni pai' totu'a to Yahudi ntani' -na mpo'uli' pangadua' -ra to rapangadu' -ki, pai' raperapi' bona kuhuku' -i.
15concerning whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid informations, requiring judgment against him:
16Kutompoi' -ra: ntuku' atura to Roma, tauna to rapakilu uma ma'ala hangaa ratonu hi bali' -na ane ko'ia-i rapopohirua' hante bali' -na, pai' ko'ia-i rapalogai mpo'uli' noa' -na.
16to whom I answered, It is not [the] custom of the Romans to give up any man before that the accused have the accusers face to face, and he have got opportunity of defence touching the charge.
17Ngkai ree, ba hangkuja dua pangkeni to Yahudi tumai dohe-ku ngkai Yerusalem. Karata-kai hi rehe'i, uma leba' kupopea mahae. Kamepulo-na, ncaliu kupahawa' tauna mpokeni Paulus tumai, pai' kupohurai kara-kara-na.
17When therefore they had come together here, without putting it off, I sat the next day on the judgment-seat and commanded the man to be brought:
18Hawe'ea topepakilu toera mpo'uli' pangadua' -ra. Ku'uli' -kuna, ba ria gau' -na to dada'a lia to rapakilu-ki. Ntaa' to rapakilu-ki toe, bela-hawo gau' to dada'a.
18concerning whom the accusers, standing up, brought no such accusation of guilt as *I* supposed;
19To kurua' -na, muntu' posisalaa-ra hi agama-ra moto-rawo. Momehono' wo'o-ra mpomehonoi' hadua tauna to rahanga' Yesus. Yesus toei, mate-imi, tapi' Paulus mpo'uli' tuwu' nculii' -i.
19but had against him certain questions of their own system of worship, and concerning a certain Jesus who is dead, whom Paul affirmed to be living.
20Jadi', ingu' -a-kuwo mpobotuhi kara-kara toe. Toe pai' kupekune' -i Paulus, ku'uli' -ki: `Dota-ko hilou hi Yerusalem, bona hi ria-damo mpai' rapohurai kara-kara-nu?'
20And as I myself was at a loss as to an inquiry into these things, I said, Was he willing to go to Jerusalem and there to be judged concerning these things?
21Tapi' naperapi' bona kara-kara-na rabua' hi Kaisar. Pai' naperapi' wo'o bona rajaga-i duu' kara-kara-na rabua' hi Kaisar. Toe-die pai' kupelele' moto-i ratarungku' duu' -na ria loga-ku mpopakatu-i hilou hi Kaisar."
21But Paul having appealed to be kept for the cognisance of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I shall send him to Caesar.
22Ngkai ree, na'uli' Magau' Agripa mpo'uli' -ki Festus: "Bo doko' wo'o-a-kuwo mpo'epe lolita-na." Na'uli' Festus: "Mepulo-damo mpai' ta'epe-i."
22And Agrippa [said] to Festus, I myself also would desire to hear the man. To-morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23Kamepulo-na, tumai mpu'u-ramo Agripa pai' Bernike, pai' -ra rapotomu hante wori' nyala pebila'. Mesua' -ramo hi rala tomi poromua hante tadulako tantara pai' totu'a ngata. Festus mpopahawa' bona Paulus rakeni hi poromua-ra.
23On the morrow therefore, Agrippa being come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and having entered into the hall of audience, with the chiliarchs and the men of distinction of the city, and Festus having given command, Paul was brought.
24Ngkai ree, natepu'u-mi Festus mololita, na'uli': "Magau' Agripa pai' tuama-tuama omea to morumpu hi rehe'i! Tau tohe'ii rapangadu' hawe'ea to Yahudi, lompe' hi Yerusalem lompe' hi rehe'i. Rajojo merapi' hi aku' bona rapasangkani lau-imi.
24And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye see this person, concerning whom all the multitude of the Jews applied to me both in Jerusalem and here, crying out against [him] that he ought not to live any longer.
25Hiaa' aku', uma-kuwo ria kuruai' ba sala' napa to nababehi to natao rahuku' mate-ki. Hiaa' oti toe wo'o, merapi' -i bona kara-kara-na rabua' hi Kaisar. Toe wo'o-mi-kuwo pai' kupomonoa' -mi mpopakatu-i hilou hi Kaisar.
25But I, having found that he had done nothing worthy of death, and this [man] himself having appealed to Augustus, I have decided to send him;
26Aga ko'ia-kuwo ria kanoaa' -na to natao ku'uki' hi rala sura-ku to hilou hi Kaisar. Jadi', toe pai' hewa toe lau, kukeni-i tumai hi rehe'i, hangkedia' -nami hi Magau' Agripa to kubila'. Patuju-ku, ane hudu-pi pomparesa' -ta tohe'i, ria-mi to ma'ala ku'uki'.
26concerning whom I have nothing certain to write to my lord. Wherefore I have brought him before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, so that an examination having been gone into I may have something to write:
27Apa' ku'uli', uma-hawo ohea-na mpopakatu tauna hilou hi pobotuhia Kaisar ane uma rapakanoto sala' to rapakilu-ki."
27for it seems to me senseless, sending a prisoner, not also to signify the charges against him.
