1Napa pai' alaa-na ria potudaa' pai' pomehonoa' -ni ompi'? Tetu-le bate mehupa' ngkai kahinaa nono-ni to dada'a. Kahinaa nono-ni to dada'a toe-mi to manga'e ncuu hi rala nono-ni, mpokeni-koi mpobabehi to dada'a.
1Whence [come] wars and whence fightings among you? [Is it] not thence, -- from your pleasures, which war in your members?
2Mehina-koi aga uma niratai to nipokahina. Toe pai' alaa-na mepatehi-mokoi. Mohingi' -koi mpokahina anu doo, aga uma oa' niratai. Toe pai' alaa-na momehono' pai' motuda' -mokoi. Uma oa' niratai to nipali', apa' uma niperapi' hi Pue'.
2Ye lust and have not: ye kill and are full of envy, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war; ye have not because ye ask not.
3Ba nau' niperapi' -mi, uma oa' -koi rawai', apa' sala' patuju-ni. Apa' napa to niperapi' tetu, doko' nipake' mpoka'oha nono-ni-wadi.
3Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask evilly, that ye may consume [it] in your pleasures.
4Koi', uma-koi tida mpotuku' Pue'! Ha ni'inca wa ompi', ane tatuku' gau' to dada'a hi dunia' toi, kita' jadi' bali' -na Alata'ala? Hangkani-pi ku'uli': hema to mpokono gau' to dada'a hi dunia' toi, hi'a-mi bali' Alata'ala!
4Adulteresses, know ye not that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore is minded to be [the] friend of the world is constituted enemy of God.
5Ba nipekiri-koina wae-e ompi', uma ria tuju-na ihi' Buku Tomoroli' to mpo'uli': Alata'ala mpajadi' nono manusia', tapi' nono-ta toe uma mowo hina-na.
5Think ye that the scripture speaks in vain? Does the Spirit which has taken his abode in us desire enviously?
6Aga petulungia to nawai' -taka Pue' ngkai kabula rala-na meliu-hana kamoroho-na ngkai hawe'ea hina nono-ta. Toe pai' ria te'uki' hi rala Buku Tomoroli': "Alata'ala mpo'ewa tauna to molangko nono-ra. Tapi' tauna to dingki' nono-ra, natulungi-ra ngkai kabula rala-na."
6But he gives more grace. Wherefore he says, God sets himself against [the] proud, but gives grace to [the] lowly.
7Toe pai' kuparesai' -koi ompi': mengkoru-mokoi hi Alata'ala. Ewa-imi Magau' Anudaa', napetiboi' moto-koi mpai'.
7Subject yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8Mohui' -imi Alata'ala, pai' Hi'a wo'o mpomohui' -koi. Koi' to mojeko', bahakai-mi mpobabehi jeko'. Koi' to morompenga nono-ni, pomoroli' nono-ni.
8Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse [your] hands, sinners, and purify [your] hearts, ye double-minded.
9Kana soho' nono-ta pai' geo' -ta mpokiwoi kamojeko' -ta. Apa' ane ta'inca karia-na jeko' -ta, uma-hawo lompe' tapokagoe', kana taposoho' nono-hawo pai' tapokageo'.
9Be wretched, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and [your] joy to heaviness.
10Kana tapakadingki' nono-ta hi nyanyoa Pue', napomolangko moto-ta mpai'.
10Humble yourselves before [the] Lord, and he shall exalt you.

11Speak not against one another, brethren. He that speaks against [his] brother, or judges his brother, speaks against [the] law and judges [the] law. But if thou judgest [the] law, thou art not doer of [the] law, but judge.
12Hiaa' hadua-na-wadi to masipato' mpowai' atura hi manusia' pai' to jadi' Topobotuhi. Hi'a-mi Alata'ala, to ria kuasa-na mpohuku' -ta ba mpobahaka-ta ngkai huku'. Jadi' kita' toi, hema rahi-tadie, pai' -ta daho' mpotuntui' doo-tae!
12One is the lawgiver and judge, who is able to save and to destroy: but who art *thou* who judgest thy neighbour?
13Toi paresa' -ku hi koi' to molangko nono-ni. Mololita-koi hewa toi: "Eo toe lau ba mepulo mpai', me'ongko' -kai hilou hi ngata nu'anu, tida-makai hi ria nte hampae, modaga pai' -kai mporata rasi'."
13Go to now, ye who say, To-day or to-morrow will we go into such a city and spend a year there, and traffic and make gain,
14Hiaa' bo uma ni'incai napa to jadi' mepulo! Beiwa ntoto katuwu' -ni? Katuwu' -nile hewa rangahu: kahiloa hampai', pai' muu-mule' moronto-mi!
14ye who do not know what will be on the morrow, ([for] what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, appearing for a little while, and then disappearing,)
15Kakoo-kono-na kana hewa toe-di-hawo-le lolita-nie: "Ane napokono Pue', tuwu' -kai pai' ma'ala kibabehi nu'anu pai' nu'anu."
15instead of your saying, If the Lord should [so] will and we should live, we will also do this or that.
16Hiaa' uma-di hewa toe pololita-nie. Molangko lau-di nono-ni pai' mpopeliu tuwu' -ni. Hawe'ea to hewa tetu, bate dada'a-hana.
16But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.
17Jadi', tauna to mpo'inca mpobabehi to lompe', pai' uma-di nababehi-e, bate napojeko'.
17To him therefore who knows how to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.
