23

1Ngkai ree, Yesus mpololitai ntodea pai' topetuku' -na, na'uli':
1Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples,
2"Guru-guru agama pai' to Parisi mohura hi pohuraa Musa, apa' hira' to mpotudui' -koi Atura Musa.
2saying, “The scribes and the Pharisees sat on Moses’ seat.
3Toe pai' kana nituku' omea napa to ratudui' -kokoi. Aga neo' nipenau' po'ingku-ra, apa' hira' toe uma mpotuku' napa to ratudui' -kokoi.
3 All things therefore whatever they tell you to observe, observe and do, but don’t do their works; for they say, and don’t do.
4Hira' toe mpopokoloi ntodea hante parenta pai' ada to motomo, hiaa' hira' moto, uma-ra mpotulungi ntodea mpotuku' parenta pai' ada toe.
4 For they bind heavy burdens that are grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not lift a finger to help them.
5"Wori' moto-hawo po'ingku-ra to lompe', aga patuju-ra mpobabehi po'ingku toe, bona rahilo doo-wadi. Mpopake' -ra tali posampaya to mopepa' -pepa', pai' rapokaloe wua' baju-ra, bona petuku' -ra hi Atura Musa ma'ala rahilo doo.
5 But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad, enlarge the fringes of their garments,
6Goe' -ra ane rapopohura-ra hi pohuraa to lompe' hi posusaa'. Goe' -ra rapopohura hi pohuraa karabilaa' hi tomi posampayaa.
6 and love the place of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,
7Goe' -ra ane ria tauna hi wiwi' karajaa motingkua' mpotabe-ra pai' mpokahangai' -ra `Guru.'
7 the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi, Rabbi’ by men.
8"Aga koi', neo' -koi mpopebila' pai' doko' rakahangai' `Guru,' apa' hadua-wadi Guru-ni, pai' koi' omea ntali ompi' -wadi.
8 But don’t you be called ‘Rabbi,’ for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers.
9Pai' neo' wo'o nipomolangko rahi ba hema-hema hi dunia' toi pai' mpokahangai' -ra `Tuama,' apa' Tuama-ni hadua-wadi, Hi'a-mi Tuama-ni to hi rala suruga.
9 Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.
10Pai' neo' wo'o-koi doko' rakahangai' `Pangkeni,' apa' Pangkeni-ni hadua-wadi, Hi'a-mi Magau' Topetolo'.
10 Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ.
11Hema-koi to doko' bohe tuwu' -na, kana jadi' pahawaa' hi doo-na.
11 But he who is greatest among you will be your servant.
12Tauna to mpakalangko nono-ra, Pue' Ala bate mpodingkihi-ra, pai' tauna to mpakadingki' nono-ra, Pue' Ala mpomolangko-ra.
12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
13"Pai' koi' guru agama pai' to Parisi! Bate mporata silaka-koi mpai'! Lompe' hi mali-na-wadi-koi! Tauna to doko' jadi' ntodea Alata'ala, nitagi-ra. Koi' moto uma dota jadi' ntodea-na Alata'ala, pai' tau ntani' -na to doko' jadi' ntodea-na, nihalawai' lau-rada. ((
13 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
14"Silaka-koi, guru agama pai' to Parisi! Lompe' hi mali-na-wadi-koi! Nibagiu tobine tobalu pai' nihagoi tomi-ra. Pai' mosampaya-koi nipomoloe-loe, bona tewunii' gau' -ni to dada'a tetu. Motomo lia mpai' huku' -ni.))
14 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men; for you don’t enter in yourselves, neither do you allow those who are entering in to enter.
15"Silaka-koi, guru agama pai' to Parisi! Lompe' hi mali-na-wadi-koi! Mako' molaa-koi medipo tahi' modao' hi role-na, bona ngalai' ria nte hadua tauna to jadi' topetuku' -ni. Pai' ane ria-pi topetuku' -ni, nitudui' -ra mpotuku' pebagiu-ni, alaa-na meliu kadada'a gau' -ra ngkai koi', pai' meliu kamasipato' -ra rahuku' hi naraka ngkai koi'.
15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of Gehenna as yourselves.
16"Bate silaka-koi mpai'! Koi' hewa to wero to doko' mpotete' doo! Metudui' -koi hewa toi: Ane ria tauna to mpobabehi pojanci pai' mosumpa-i mpokahangai' Tomi Alata'ala, ni'uli' uma-i tehoo' hante sumpa-na toe. Hiaa' ane mpokahangai' -i bulawa to hi rala Tomi Alata'ala, tehoo' -i hante sumpa-na toe.
16 “Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’
17Wojo mpu'u-koi, hewa to wero-koi! Ha ni'uli' -koina bulawa to meliu ngkai Tomi Alata'ala! Hiaa' bo Tomi Alata'ala toe-di to mpomoroli' bulawa to hi rala-na.
17 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
18Metudui' wo'o-koi hewa toi: Ane tauna mosumpa mpokahangai' meja' pontunua pepue' to hi rala Tomi Alata'ala, uma-i tehoo' hante sumpa-na toe. Aga ane mpokahangai' -i pepue' to ratunu hi lolo meja' toe, ni'uli' bate tehoo' -i hante sumpa-na.
18 ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’
19Hewa to wero mpu'u-koi! Ha ni'uli' -koina, pepue' to meliu ngkai meja' pontunua pepue'? Uma-e', apa' meja' toe-di to mpomoroli' pepue' to hi lolo-nae.
19 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
20Ane tauna mosumpa mpokahangai' meja' pontunua pepue', batua-na mpokahangai' -i meja' toe pai' hawe'ea to ratunu hi lolo-na.
20 He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it.
21Pai' ane tauna mosumpa mpokahangai' Tomi Alata'ala, batua-na mpokahangai' -i Tomi Alata'ala pai' Alata'ala to mo'oha' hi tomi toe.
21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who was living in it.
22Pai' ane tauna mosumpa mpokahangai' suruga, batua-na mpokahangai' -i pohuraa Alata'ala, pai' mpokahangai' wo'o-i Alata'ala to mohura hi pohuraa toe.
22 He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.
23"Silaka-koi, guru agama pai' to Parisi! Lompe' hi mali-na-wadi-koi! Ntahawe' hinu'a to kedi', hewa tarangkada', ngkoromonyi' pai' wunga bonea, nipopepue' hampobagiahampulu' hi Alata'ala. Hiaa' parenta hi rala Atura Pue' to bohe mpu'u, hewa po'ingku to monoa', ma'ahi' hi doo, pai' mpo'ihii' janci, uma nisaile'. Kakoo-kono-na, ke parenta to bohe toe-hanale to kana nituku' -e, pai' neo' wo'o nilipo' mpotuku' parenta to kedi'.
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.
24Koi' hewa towero to mpotete' doo. Koi' hewa tauna to mpolali koromu' nete' ngkai ue ininu-ni, hiaa' hama'a unta, to bohe lia, ni'ome' lau.
24 You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!
25"Silaka-koi, guru agama pai' to Parisi! Lompe' hi mali-na-wadi-koi! Koi' hewa tauna to mpobohoi' sangkiri' pai' piri hi mali-na-wadi, hiaa' hi rala-na babo' moto. Ada agama to kahiloa hi mali-na-wadi nituku' lia. Hiaa' hi rala nono-ni jampa pai' mpokahina anu doo-koi.
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.
26Hewa towero mpu'u-koi, koi' to Parisi! Bohoi' ulu rala-na sangkiri', bona lompe' wo'o to hi mali-na.
26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.
27"Silaka-koi, guru agama pai' to Parisi! Lompe' hi mali-na-wadi-koi! Hewa daeo' to rasapuru' bula-koi: hi mali-na lompe' -damo hiloa-na, hiaa' bo hi rala-na paka' wuku kiu pai' wori' nyala to merungkui.
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
28Wae wo'o koi': ane hi pogau' to hi mali-na to rahilo doo, monoa' -koi. Hiaa' hi rala nono-ni topebagiu-koi pai' dada'a kehi-ni.
28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29"Silaka-koi, guru agama pai' to Parisi! Lompe' hi mali-na-wadi-koi! Nipenasa-damo mpakalompe' daeo' -ra nabi-nabi pai' tauna to monoa' owi.
29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous,
30Molangko nono-ni, ni'uli': `Ane ke rapa' -na tuwu' -makai hingkala'ia hante totu'a-kai owi, ke uma-ka-kaina mpodohei-ra mpatehi nabi-nabi.'
30 and say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we wouldn’t have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.’
31Jadi', nipangaku' moto kakoi' -na muli-ra to mpatehi nabi-nabi, pai' kehi ntu'a-ni tetu bate ni'uhi.
31 Therefore you testify to yourselves that you are children of those who killed the prophets.
32Wae-pi, pokaliliu lau-mi mpobabehi jeko' hewa to rababehi ntu'a-ni tetu!
32 Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.
33"He topebagiu, he koi' to bengku' gau' -ni! Ha ni'uli' -koina tewi'iha-koi mpai' ngkai huku' -ni hi rala naraka-e?
33 You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna ?
35Ntu'a-ni owi mpopatehi wori' tauna to monoa' ingku-ra, ntepu'u ngkai kampopatehi-ra Habel, tauna to monoa' ingku-na owi, rata-rata hi kampopatehi-ni Zakharia ana' Berekia, to nipatehi hi berewe Tomi Alata'ala hi olo' tomi to moroli' pai' meja' pontunua pepue'. Jadi', hi koi' to tuwu' tempo toi, kupahawa' wo'o mpai' nabi, tauna to pante pai' guru to mpotudui' -koi lolita-ku. Hantongo' -ra mpai' nipatehi, hantongo' -ra niparika', ria wo'o-ra to niweba' hi rala tomi posampayaa-ni, ria wo'o-ra to nidapa' hilou hi ngata-ngata petiboa' -ra. Ka'omea-na mpai', koi' to tuwu' tempo toi-mi to mpokolo hawe'ea kasalaa' totu'a-ni to mpatehi tauna to monoa' owi.
34 Therefore behold, I send to you prophets, wise men, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify; and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;
36Wae mpu'u-di! Koi' to tuwu' tempo toi bate rahuku' sabana hawe'ea kasalaa' -ra totu'a-ni toe.
35 that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.
37"Ee to Yerusalem! to Yerusalem! Nipatehi-ra-koina nabi-nabi, pai' nipana' watu-ra-koina tauna to nasuro Alata'ala hi koi'. Wori' ngkani-mi kupehuka' ngkupui-koi, hewa hama'a manu' tina mpo'urui ana' -na hi une' pani' -na, aga uma-koi dota.
36 Most certainly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
38Bona ni'inca: tomi pepuea' -ni toi napalahii-kokoi mpai' Alata'ala.
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not!
39Mpu'u ku'uli' -kokoi, uma-apa nihiloi, duu' -na rata tempo-na ni'uli': `Une' -imi to rata mpokeni hanga' Pue' Ala!'"
38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
39 For I tell you, you will not see me from now on, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
