¹Cả dân Giu-đa đều lập Ô-xia làm vua thế cho A-ma-xia, cha người; tuổi người được mười sáu.

¹All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

²Sau khi vua cha đã an giấc với các tổ phụ, người xây cất Ê-lốt, và khôi phục nó cho Giu-đa.

²He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

³Ô-xia được mười sáu tuổi, khi người lên làm vua; người cai trị năm mươi hai năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lam; mẹ người tên là Giê-cô-lia, quê ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.

³Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.

⁴Người làm điều thiện trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, y theo mọi điều A-ma-xia, cha người đã làm.

⁴He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

⁵Trong đời Xa-cha-ri, là người thông hiểu các dị tượng của Ðức Chúa Trời, thì Ô-xia rắp lòng tìm kiếm Ðức Chúa Trời; và người tìm kiếm bao lâu; thì Ðức Chúa Trời khiến cho người đặng may mắn bấy lâu.

⁵He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God: and as long as he sought Yahweh, God made him to prosper.

⁶Người kéo ra chiến tranh với dân Phi-li-tin đánh đổ tường thành Gát, tường thành Giáp-nê, và tường thành Ách-đốt; người xây cất những thành trong địa hạt Ách-đốt và tại đất người Phi-li-tin.

⁶He went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

⁷Ðức Chúa Trời giúp đỡ người được thắng dân Phi-li-tin, dân A rạp ở tại Gu-rơ-Ba-anh, và dân Ma-ôn.

⁷God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunim.

⁸Dân Am-môn cũng tiến cống cho Ô-xia; danh tiếng người đồn đến cõi Ê-díp-tô, vì người đã trở nên rất cường thạnh.

⁸The Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he grew exceeding strong.

⁹Ô-xia cũng xây những tháp tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, trên cửa Góc, trên cửa Trũng, và trên Góc tường, làm cho nó vững chắc.

⁹Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

¹⁰Người cũng cất những tháo trong đồng vắng, đào nhiều giếng, vì có nhiều súc vật trong đồng bằng và trên đồng cao; cũng có những người làm ruộng, kẻ trồng nho trên núi và tại Cạt-mên, vì người thích việc canh nông.

¹⁰He built towers in the wilderness, and dug out many cisterns, for he had much livestock; in the lowland also, and in the plain: and he had farmers and vineyard keepers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved farming.

¹¹Ô-xia có một đạo binh đặn đi chinh chiến, kéo ra trận từ tốp, tùy số tu bộ mà thơ ký Giê-hi-ên, và quan giám thị Ma-a-xê-gia đã làm, có Ha-na-nia, đại thần của vua, cai quản.

¹¹Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.

¹²Trọn số các trưởng tộc, tức là những người mạnh dạn, là hai ngàn sáu trăm người.

¹²The whole number of the heads of fathers’ households, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.

¹³Chúng quản lãnh một đạo binh ba mươi vạn bảy ngàn sáu trăm người, đều hay đánh giặc cách mạnh dạn, hầu giúp vua đối địch với cừu địch.

¹³Under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

¹⁴Ô-xia sắm sửa cho cả đạo binh những khiên, giáo, mũ, giáp, cung, và những đá trành.

¹⁴Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the army, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.

¹⁵Ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, người khiến tay kỹ sư chế tạo những máy dùng đặt trên các tháp, và trên chót đồn lũy, đặng bắn tên và đá lớn. Danh tiếng người đồn ra phương xa; bởi vì người được Chúa giúp đỡ cách lạ thường, cho đến trở nên cường thạnh.

¹⁵He made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and on the battlements, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. His name spread far abroad; for he was marvelously helped, until he was strong.

¹⁶Song khi người được trở nên cường thạnh, lòng bèn kiêu ngạo, đến đỗi làm ác, phạm tội cùng Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời của người; vì người vào trong đền thờ Ðức Giê-hô-va, xông hương trên bàn thờ xông hương.

¹⁶But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Yahweh his God; for he went into Yahweh’s temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.

¹⁷Thầy tế lễ A-xa-ria vào sau người, có tám mươi thầy tế lễ, đều là người mạnh dạn, đồng đi theo.

¹⁷Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of Yahweh, who were valiant men:

¹⁸Chúng cản cự vua Ô-xia mà rằng: Hỡi vua, chẳng phải phần vua xông hương cho Ðức Giê-hô-va đâu, bèn là phần của những thầy tế lễ, con cháu A-rôn, đã được biệt riêng ra thánh đặng xông hương vậy. Hãy đi ra khỏi đền thánh, vì vua đã phạm tội; lại vì việc này Ðức Giê-hô-va sẽ chẳng làm cho vua được vinh hiển đâu

¹⁸and they resisted Uzziah the king, and said to him, “It isn’t for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to Yahweh, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from Yahweh God.”

¹⁹Ô-xia bèn nổi giận; người cầm nơi tay một cái bình hương toan xông hương; và đang khi người nổi giận cùng những thầy tế lễ, phung bèn nổi lên nơi trán người trước mặt những thầy tế lễ, tại trong đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va ở gần bên bàn thờ xông hương.

¹⁹Then Uzziah was angry; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was angry with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Yahweh, beside the altar of incense.

²⁰A-xa-ria, thầy tế lễ thượng phẩm, và hết thảy thầy tế lễ khác ngó xem người, thấy người bị bịnh phung ở nơi trán, bèn đuổi người ra khỏi đó; và chính người cũng lật đật ra, vì Ðức Giê-hô-va hành hại người.

²⁰Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from there; yes, himself hurried also to go out, because Yahweh had struck him.

²¹Ô-xia bị bịnh phung cho đến ngày băng hà; và vì bị phung phải ở riêng ra trong một nhà khác, chẳng còn được vào đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va nữa; Giô-tham, con trai người, quản lý cung vua, và xét đoán dân sự của nước.

²¹Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

²²Ðấng tiên tri Ê-sai, con trai của A-mốt, đã biên chép các công sự khác của Ô-xia từ đầu đến cuối.

²²Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.

²³Ô-xia an giấc cùng tổ phụ người, và người ta chôn người chung với tổ phụ người tại ruộng lăng tẩm của các vua; vì người ta nói rằng: Người bị phung. Giô-tham, con trai người, cai trị thế cho người.

²³So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, “He is a leper.” Jotham his son reigned in his place.
