1Giô-tham được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi người lên ngôi làm vua, và người cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem; mẹ người tên là Giê-ru-sa, con gái của Xa-đốc.
1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.
2Người làm điều thiện trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, y theo mọi điều Ô-xia, cha người, đã làm; song người không vào đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va; còn dân sự lại càng làm luông tuồng nữa.
2He did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: however he didn’t enter into Yahweh’s temple. The people still did corruptly.
3Người xây cửa trên của đền Ðức Giê-hô-va, và xây nhiều trên tường thành Ô-phên.
3He built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.
4Người cũng xây những thành trong miền núi Giu-đa, và đền đài cùng những tháp ở trên rừng.
4Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.
5Người đánh giặc với vua dân Am-môn, và thắng được chúng. Trong năm đó, dân Am-môn nộp cho người một trăm ta lâng bạc một vạn cô-rơ lúa miến, và một vạn cô-rơ lúc mạch. Trong năm thứ nhì và thứ ba, dân Am-môn cũng tiến cống người số ấy.
5He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The children of Ammon gave that much to him in the second year also, and in the third.
6Vậy, Giô-tham trở nên cường thạnh, bởi vì người đi đường chánh đáng trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, là Ðức Chúa Trời mình.
6So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Yahweh his God.
7Các công việc khác của Giô-tham, hết thảy những chiến trận và đường lối của người, đều chép trong sách các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên và Giu-đa.
7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
8Người được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi lên làm vua, và người cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
8He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.
9Người an giấc cùng tổ tiên mình, người ta chôn người tại trong thành Ða-vít; đoạn A-cha, con trai người, cai trị thế cho người.
9Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
