¹Năm thứ mười bảy đời Phê-ca, con tra Rê-ma-lia, thì A-cha, con trai Giô-tham, vua Giu-đa, lên làm vua.

¹In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

²A-cha được hai mươi tuổi khi người lên làm vua; người cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Người chẳng làm điều thiện trước mặt Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời người, như Ða-vít tổ phụ người, đã làm;

²Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he didn’t do that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh his God, like David his father.

³nhưng người đi theo con đường của các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, thậm chí bắt chước theo gương gớm ghiếc của các dân tộc Ðức Giê-hô-va đã đuổi khỏi trước mặt dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, mà đưa con trai mình qua lửa.

³But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yes, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations, whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel.

⁴Người cũng cúng tế và xông hương trên các nơi cao, trên gò và dưới cây rậm.

⁴He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

⁵Bấy giờ, Rô-xin, vua Sy-ri và Phê-ca, con trai Rê-ma-lia, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, đều đi lên đặng hãm đánh Giê-ru-sa-lem; họ vây A-cha; nhưng không thắng người được.

⁵Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

⁶Ấy nhằm lúc đó Rê-xin, vua Sy-ri; người đuổi dân Giu-đa khỏi Ê-lát, và dân Sy-ri bèn đến Ê-lát, ở đó cho đến ngày nay.

⁶At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and lived there, to this day.

⁷A-cha sai sứ giả đến Tiếc-la-Phi-lê-se, vua A-si-ri, nói với người rằng: Tôi là kẻ tôi tớ vua, là con trai vua; hãy đi đến giải cứu tôi khỏi tay vua Sy-ri và vua Y-sơ-ra-ên đã dấy lên cùng tôi.

⁷So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your son. Come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.”

⁸A-cha lấy bạc và vàng có ở trong đền thờ Ðức Giê-hô-va và ở trong kho đền vua, gởi đem làm của lễ cho vua A-si-ri.

⁸Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

⁹Vua A-si-ri nhậm làm điều A-cha xin, đi lên hãm đánh Ða-mách và chiếm lấy, bắt đem dân cư nó sang Ki-rơ, và giết Rê-xin.

⁹The king of Assyria listened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.

¹⁰A-cha bèn đi đến Ða-mách đặng đón Tiếc-la-Phi-lê-se, vua A-si-ri. A-cha thấy một cái bàn thờ ở tại Ða-mách, bèn gởi kiểu mẫu và hình bàn thờ ấy tùy theo cách chế tạo nó, cho thầy tế lễ U-ri.

¹⁰King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its workmanship.

¹¹Thầy tế lễ U-ri chế một cái bàn thờ y theo kiểu mà vua A-cha từ Ða-mách đã gởi đến; thầy tế lễ U-ri chế xong bàn thờ ấy trước khi vua trở về.

¹¹Urijah the priest built an altar: according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus.

¹²Khi vua từ Ða-mách trở về, thấy bàn thờ bèn lại gần và dâng của lễ trên nó.

¹²When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king drew near to the altar, and offered on it.

¹³Người xông trên bàn thờ của lễ thiêu và của lễ chay mình, đổ ra lễ quán và huyết về của lễ thù ân tại trên đó.

¹³He burnt his burnt offering and his meal offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, on the altar.

¹⁴Còn bàn thờ bằng đồng ở trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, thì người cất khỏi chỗ nó tại trước đền thờ, giữa bàn thờ mới và đền của Ðức Giê-hô-va, rồi để nó bên bàn thờ của người, về phía bắc.

¹⁴The bronze altar, which was before Yahweh, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and the house of Yahweh, and put it on the north side of his altar.

¹⁵Ðoạn, vua A-cha truyền lịnh cho thầy tế lễ U-ri rằng: Người sẽ xông trên bàn thờ lớn của lễ thiêu buổi sáng và của lễ chay buổi chiều, của lễ thiêu và của lễ chay của vua; lại xông của lễ thiêu và của lễ chay của cả dân sự trong xứ, cũng đổ ra tại trên nó lễ quán của họ, và tưới cả huyết con sinh dùng làm của lễ thiêu, luôn cả huyết về các con sinh khác. Còn bàn thờ bằng đồng, ta sẽ dùng cầu vấn ý Chúa.

¹⁵King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, “On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meal offering, and the king’s burnt offering, and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by.”

¹⁶Thầy tế lễ U-ri làm theo mọi điều vua A-cha truyền dạy cho người.

¹⁶Urijah the priest did so, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

¹⁷Vả lại, vua A-cha dỡ các miếng trám của những táng, và cất hết những chậu đặt ở trên; lại hạ cái biển bằng đồng xuống khỏi bò nâng nó, rồi đem để nó trên một nền lót đá.

¹⁷King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

¹⁸Vì cớ vua A-si-ri, người cũng đổi trong đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va cái hiên cửa dùng về ngày Sa-bát mà người ta đã xây trong đền, và cửa ngoài để dành cho vua.

¹⁸The covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s entry outside, turned he to the house of Yahweh, because of the king of Assyria.

¹⁹Các chuyện khác của A-cha, và những công việc người làm, đều chép trong sử ký về các vua Giu-đa.

¹⁹Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

²⁰Ðoạn, A-cha an giấc cùng các tổ phụ người, được chôn bên họ, trong thành Ða-vít. Ê-xê-chia, con trai người, kế vị người.

²⁰Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
