¹Năm thứ nhứt đời Si-ru, vua nước Phe-rơ-sơ trị vì, Ðức Giê-hô-va muốn làm cho ứng nghiệm lời Ngài đã cậy miệng Giê-rê-mi mà phán ra, nên Ngài cảm động lòng Si-ru, vua Phe-rơ-sơ tuyên truyền trong khắp nước mình, và cũng ra sắc chỉ rằng:

¹Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

²Si-ru, vua Phe-rơ-sơ, nói như vầy: Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời đã ban các nước thế gian cho ta, và chánh Ngài có biểu ta xây cất cho Ngài một đền thờ tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, trong xứ Giu-đa.

²“Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘Yahweh, the God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

³Trong các ngươi, phàm ai thuộc về dân sự Ngài, khá trở lên Giê-ru-sa-lem trong xứ Giu-đa, đặng cất lại đền thờ Giê-hô-va, là Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, vẫn ngự tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Nguyện Ðức Chúa Trời người ấy ở cùng người!

³Whoever there is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Yahweh, the God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem.

⁴Hễ dân Giu-đa còn sót lại, mặc dầu ở đâu, thì bổn dân của nơi họ ở, phải tiếp trợ họ bằng bạc, vàng, của cải, súc vật, không kể những của lễ lạc hiến về đền của Ðức Chúa Trời ở tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.

⁴Whoever is left, in any place where he lives, let the men of his place help him with silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, besides the freewill offering for God’s house which is in Jerusalem.’”

⁵Bấy giờ những trưởng tộc của Giu-đa và Bên-gia-min, những thầy tế lễ, và người Lê-vi, cả thảy những người nào Ðức Chúa Trời cảm động lòng có ý đi lên xây cất đền thờ của Ðức Giê-hô-va tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, bèn chổi dậy.

⁵Then the heads of fathers’ households of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up rose up to build the house of Yahweh which is in Jerusalem.

⁶Các người lân cận chúng đều tiếp trợ chúng, cho những vật bằng bạc, bằng vàng, của cải, súc vật, và những vật quí báu, bất kể các của lạc hiến khác.

⁶All those who were around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.

⁷Vua Si-ru cũng trả lại những khí dụng của đền thờ Ðức Giê-hô-va, mà Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa đã đem đi khỏi Giê-ru-sa-lem và để trong đền thờ của thần người.

⁷Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of Yahweh, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought out of Jerusalem, and had put in the house of his gods;

⁸Si-ru, vua Phe-rơ-sơ, truyền Mít-rê-đát, người thủ quỹ, lấy các khí dụng ấy ra, đếm và giao cho Sết-ba-xa, quan trưởng của Giu-đa.

⁸even those, Cyrus king of Persia brought out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them to Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

⁹Nầy là số của các khí dụng ấy: ba mươi cái chậu vàng, ngàn cái chậu bạc, hai mươi chín con dao,

⁹This is the number of them: thirty platters of gold, one thousand platters of silver, twenty-nine knives,

¹⁰ba mươi các chén vàng, bốn trăm mười cái chén bạc thứ hạng nhì, một ngàn cái khí dụng khác.

¹⁰thirty bowls of gold, silver bowls of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels one thousand.

¹¹Hết thảy những khí dụng bằng vàng và bạc số là năm ngàn bốn trăm cái. Khi những người bị bắt làm phu tù ở Ba-by-lôn được dẫn về Giê-ru-sa-lem thì Sết-ba-xa đem lên luôn hết thảy vật ấy.

¹¹All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. Sheshbazzar brought all these up, when the captives were brought up from Babylon to Jerusalem.
