1Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Depart, go up from here, you and the people that you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your seed.’
1 神命令以色列人起行
2I will send an angel before you; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
2我要差派使者在你前面；我要把迦南人、亚摩利人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人赶出去，
3to a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of you, for you are a stiff-necked people, lest I consume you in the way.”
3你们要上那流奶与蜜的地方去；我不与你们一同上去，因为你们是硬着颈项的人民，免得我在路上把你们消灭。”
4When the people heard this evil news, they mourned: and no one put on his jewelry.
4人民一听见这凶信，就悲伤起来，也没有人穿戴装饰。
5Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell the children of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up into your midst for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry from you, that I may know what to do to you.’”
5耶和华对摩西说：“你要对以色列人说：‘你们是硬着颈项的民；我若是霎时间与你们同行，我会把你们消灭的；所以，现在你们要把你们身上的装饰脱下来，使我知道我要怎样处置你们。’”
6The children of Israel stripped themselves of their jewelry from Mount Horeb onward.
6于是，以色列人从何烈山以后，就把身上的装饰脱下来。
7Now Moses used to take the tent and to pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it “The Tent of Meeting.” It happened that everyone who sought Yahweh went out to the Tent of Meeting, which was outside the camp.
7会幕摩西一向把会幕支搭在营外，离营远些；摩西称它为会幕。凡是寻求耶和华的，就出到营外的会幕那里去。
8It happened that when Moses went out to the Tent, that all the people rose up, and stood, everyone at their tent door, and watched Moses, until he had gone into the Tent.
8摩西出营到会幕去的时候，全体的人民都起来，各人站在自己帐幕的门口，望着摩西，直到他进了会幕。
9It happened, when Moses entered into the Tent, that the pillar of cloud descended, stood at the door of the Tent, and spoke with Moses.
9摩西进会幕的时候，就有云柱降下来，停在会幕门口上面；耶和华就与摩西谈话。
10All the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent, and all the people rose up and worshiped, everyone at their tent door.
10全体的人民看见了云柱停在会幕门口上面，就都起来，各人在自己帐幕的门口下拜。
11Yahweh spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, didn’t depart out of the Tent.
11耶和华与摩西面对面说话，好像人对朋友说话一样。然后，摩西回到营里去，只有他的侍从，一个少年人，就是嫩的儿子约书亚，不离开会幕。
12Moses said to Yahweh, “Behold, you tell me, ‘Bring up this people:’ and you haven’t let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’
12摩西的祈求与耶和华的荣耀摩西对耶和华说：“看，你吩咐我说：‘把这百姓领上去’，可是你却没有让我知道你要差派谁与我同去；只是你曾经说过：‘我按着你的名字认识你，你在我眼前也蒙了恩。’
13Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight: and consider that this nation is your people.”
13现在我若是在你眼前蒙恩，求你把你的道路指示我，使我可以认识你，可以在你眼前蒙恩；也求你想到这民族是你的人民。”
14He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
14耶和华说：“我必亲自与你同去，也必给你安息。”
15He said to him, “If your presence doesn’t go with me, don’t carry us up from here.
15摩西对他说：“你若是不亲自与我们同去，就不要把我们从这里领上去。
16For how would people know that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Isn’t it in that you go with us, so that we are separated, I and your people, from all the people who are on the surface of the earth?”
16人在什么事上可以知道我和你的人民在你眼前蒙恩呢？不是因为你与我们同去，使我和你的人民可以和地上所有的人有分别吗？”
17Yahweh said to Moses, “I will do this thing also that you have spoken; for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”
17耶和华对摩西说：“你所说的这件事我也要作，因为你在我眼前蒙恩，并且我按着你的名字认识了你。”
18He said, “Please show me your glory.”
18摩西说：“求你给我看看你的荣耀。”
19He said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”
19耶和华说：“我要使我的一切美善都在你面前经过，并且要把我的名字耶和华在你面前宣告出来；我要恩待谁，就恩待谁；我要怜悯谁，就怜悯谁。”
20He said, “You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live.”
20他又说：“你不能看我的脸，因为没有人看见了我还能活着。”
21Yahweh also said, “Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock.
21耶和华说：“看哪，我这里有个地方，你要站在磐石上。
22It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by;
22我的荣耀经过的时候，我要把你放在磐石隙中，我要用我的手掌遮盖你，直到我过去了。
23then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back; but my face shall not be seen.”
23然后，我要收回我的手掌，你就会看见我的背后，却不能看见我的脸。”
