¹It happened that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples.

¹अइसा भवा कि जब अपुल्लोस कुरिन्थुस मँ रहा तबहि पौलुस भीतर क पहँटा स जात्रा करत भवा इफिसुस मँ आइ पहोंचा। हुवाँ ओका कछू चेलन मिलेन।

²He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

²अउर उ ओनसे कहेस, “का जब तू पचे बिसवास धारण किहे रहा तब पवित्तर आतिमा क ग्रहण किहे रहा?” उ सबइ जवाब दिहेन, “हम पचे तउ सुना तलक नाहीं कि कउनो पवित्तर आतिमा बाटइ भी!”

³He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”

³तउ उ कहेस, “तउ तू पचे कइसा बपतिस्मा लिहे अहा!” उ सबइ कहेन, “य़ूहन्ना क बपतिस्मा।”

⁴Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Jesus.”

⁴फिन पौलुस कहेस, “यूहन्ना क बपतिस्मा तउ मनफिरावइ क बपतिस्मा रहा। उ मनइयन स कहे रहा कि जउन मोरे पाछे आवत अहइ, ओह पइ अरथ अहइ ईसू प बिसवास धरा।”

⁵When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

⁵इ सुनिके उ हचे पर्भू ईसू क नाउँ क बपतिस्मा लइ लिहेन।

⁶When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with other languages and prophesied.

⁶फिन जब पौलुस ओऩ प हाथ धरेम तउ ओऩ पइ पवित्तर आतिमा उतरि आइ। अउर उ सबइ अलग अलग भाखा बोलइ अउर भविस्सबाणी करइ लागेन।

⁷They were about twelve men in all.

⁷कुल जोरिके उ पचे कउनो बारह मनई रहेन।

⁸He entered into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for a period of three months, reasoning and persuading about the things concerning the Kingdom of God.

⁸फिन पौलुस यहूदी आराधनालय मँ चला गवा अउर तीन महीना निडर होइके बोलत रहा। उ यहूदी लोगन क साथ बहस करत भवा ओनका परमेस्सर क राज्य क बारे मँ समझावत रहत रहा।

⁹But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.

⁹मुला ओहमाँ स कछू लोग बहोत जिद्दी रहेन। उ पचे बिसवास ग्रहण करइ स इन्कार कइ दिहेन अउर मनइयन क समन्वा भला बुरा कहत रहेन। तउ उ आपन चेलन क संग लइके ओनका तजिके चला गवा। अउर तरन्नुस क पाठसाला मँ हर रोज बिचार करत रहा।

¹⁰This continued for two years, so that all those who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

¹⁰दुइ बरिस तलक अइसा ही होत रहा। एकर नतीजा इ भवा कि सबइ एसिया क बसइया अउर यहूदियन अउर गैर यहूदियन पर्भू क बचन सुनि लिहेन।

¹¹God worked special miracles by the hands of Paul,

¹¹परमेस्सर पौलुस क हथवा चमत्कार करम करावत रहा।

¹²so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and the evil spirits went out.

¹²हिआँ तलक की ओकर छुआ रुमाल अउर अँगरखा क बेरामियन क लगे लइ जावा जात तउ ओऩकइ बेरामी जरटुट होइ जातिन अउर दुस्ट आतिमा ओहमाँ म पराइ जातिन।

¹³But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”

¹⁴There were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did this.

¹⁵The evil spirit answered, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?”

¹⁵तउ दुस्ट आतिमा (एक दाँई) ओनसे कहेस, “मइँ ईसू क पहिचानत हउँ अउर पौलुस क बारे मँ भी जानत हउँ, मुला तू पचे कउऩ अहा?”

¹⁶The man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

¹⁶फिन उ मनई जेह पइ दुस्ट आतिमा सवार रही, ओन प कूदि पड़ी। उ ओन पइ काबू पाइके अउर ओनकर कपरा फाड़ दिहेस। उ ओनका खूबइ पीटेस अउर ओनकइ ओढ़ना फाड़ि डाएस। एहसे उ पचे बेबस्तर होइके अउर चोटाइके परानेन।

¹⁷This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

¹⁷इफिसुस मँ बसइया लोग सबहिं यहूदियन अउर यूनानी लोगन क इ बाते क पता लग गवा। उ सबइ लोग बहोतइ डेराइ गएऩ। इ तरह पर्भू ईसू क नाउँ क आदर अउर जिआदा बाढ़त गवा।

¹⁸Many also of those who had believed came, confessing, and declaring their deeds.

¹⁸ओहमाँ स बहोत स जउऩ बिसवास ग्रहण किहे रहेन, आपन स कीन्ह गवा कुकरम क सबन क समन्वा कबूलत भए हुवाँ आएन।

¹⁹Many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. They counted their price, and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver. The 50,000 pieces of silver here probably referred to 50,000 drachmas. If so, the value of the burned books was equivalent to about 160 man-years of wages for agricultural laborers

¹⁹जादूगर अउर टोनहन मँ स बहोतन आपन-आपन पोथी लइके हुवाँ बटोरि दिहेन अउर सब मनइयन क अगवा बारि दिहेन। ओऩ पोथिन क कीमत 50,000 चाँदी क सिक्का क बराबर कूता गवा।

²⁰So the word of the Lord was growing and becoming mighty.

²⁰इ तरइ पर्भू क बचन जिआदा असरदार होत भवा दूर दूर ताई फइल गवा।

²¹Now after these things had ended, Paul determined in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.”

²¹इ सब घटित होए क पाछे पौलुस आपन मने मँ मैसीडोनिया अउर अखाया होत भवा यरूसलेम जाइ क निहचय किहेस। उ कहेस, “हुवाँ जाए क पाछे मोका रोम भी लखइ चाही।”

²²Having sent into Macedonia two of those who served him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while.

²²तउ उ आपन तीमुथियुस अउर इरास्तुस नाउँ क दुइ सहायक लोगन क मैसीहोनिया पठएस अउर एसिया मँ तनिक समइ अउर बिताएस।

²³About that time there arose no small stir concerning the Way.

²³उ दिनन मँ परमेस्सर के रस्ता का लइके हुवाँ खुब उपद्रप भवा।

²⁴For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen,

²⁴हुवाँ देमेत्रियुस नाउँ क एक ठु चाँदी क बनवइया सोनार रहा। उ चाँदी क मन्दिर मूरति देवी अरतिमिस क बनवत रहा। जेहसे कारीगर लोगन क रोजी मिलत रही।

²⁵whom he gathered together, with the workmen of like occupation, and said, “Sirs, you know that by this business we have our wealth.

²⁵उ ओऩका इ धंधा मँ लगा भएऩ दूसर कारीगरन क बटोरेस अउर कहेस, “लखा मनइयो, तू पचे जानत ह कि काम स हमका एक बढ़िया आमदनी होत ह।

²⁶You see and hear, that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods, that are made with hands.

²⁶तू सब लखि सकत ह अउर सुनि सकत ह कि इ पौलुस न सिरिफ इफिसुस मँ मुला करीब करीब एसिया क समूचइ पहँटा मँ मनइयन क अपनी सिच्छा क जरिये बदल दिहे बा। उ कहत बा कि मनई क हथवा क बनावा सच देवता नाहीं अहइँ।

²⁷Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing, and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”

²⁷एहसे न सिरिफ इ बात क डर अहइ कि हमार बइपार क नामूसी होइ मुला महान देवी अरतिमिस क मंदिर क इज्जत खोइ जाइ क भी डर बाटइ। अउर जउन देवी क आराधना समूचइ एसिया अउर दुनिया स कीन्ह जात बाटइ, ओकर गरिमा छीन लइ जाइ डर अहइ।”

²⁸When they heard this they were filled with anger, and cried out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”

²⁸जब उ पचे इ सुनेन तउ उ पचे बहोत कोहाइ गएऩ अउर चिचिआइ चिचिआइ क कहइ लागेन, “इफिसियो क देवी अरतिमिस महान बा!”

²⁹The whole city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one accord into the theater, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel.

²⁹ओहार सारे सहर मँ गड़बड़ी फैलि गइ। तउ मनइयन मैसीडोनिया स आएन अउर पौलुस क संग जात्रा करत भएऩ गयुस अउर अरिस्तरखुस क धइ दहबोचेन अउर रंग साला मँ लइ भागेन।

³⁰When Paul wanted to enter in to the people, the disciples didn’t allow him.

³⁰पौलुस मनइयन क समन्वा जाब चाहत रहा मुला चेलन ओका नाहीं जाइ दिहन।

³¹Certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and begged him not to venture into the theater.

³¹कछू प्रांत क अधिकारी जउऩ ओकर मीत रहेन, ओसे कहवाइ पठइएन कि उ हुवाँ रंगसाला मँ आवइ क दुस्साहस जिन करइ।

³²Some therefore cried one thing, and some another, for the assembly was in confusion. Most of them didn’t know why they had come together.

³²लोगन मँ स कछू चिचियात बा, अउर कउनो कछू, काहेकि समूचइ सभा मँ हल्बुली फइली बाटइ। ओहमाँ मू जिआदा स जिआदा इ नाहीं जानत रहेन कि उ पचे हुवाँ बटुरा काहे बाटेन।

³³They brought Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defense to the people.

³³यहूदियन सिकन्दर क जेकज नाउँ भीड़ मँ स उ पचे सुझाए रहेन, अगवा ठाड़ कइ रखे रहेन। सिकन्दर आपन हथवा क हिलाइ हिलाइके मनइयन क समन्वा सफाई क बयान देत रहा।

³⁴But when they perceived that he was a Jew, all with one voice for a time of about two hours cried out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”

³⁴मुला जब ओनका इ पता लाग कु उ एक यहूदी अहइ तउ उ सबइ एक अउटके कछू दुइ घण्टा तलक एक सुर मँ चिचियात भवा कहत रहेन, “इफिसियन क देवी अरतिमिस महान बा।”

³⁵When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?

³⁵फिन सहर क बाबू भीड़ क सान्त करत भवा कहेस, “हे इफिसुस क मनइयो, का दुनिया मँ अइसा कउनो मनई बा जउऩ इ नाहीं जानत कि इफिसियन सहर महान देवी अरतिमिस अउर सरग स गिरी भइ पवित्तर सिला क रखवारा अहइ?

³⁶Seeing then that these things can’t be denied, you ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rash.

³⁶काहेकि इ बातन स इन्कार नाहीं होइ सकता ऍह बरे तोहका सान्त रहइ चाही।

³⁷For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.

³⁷तू पचे इ मनइयन क धइके हियाँ लाया ह जदि अपि उ सबइ न तउ कउनो मंदिर क लुटेन ह अउर न ही हमरी देवि क बेज्जत किहेन ह।

³⁸If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open, and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.

³⁸अगर देमेत्रियुस अउर संगी कारीगरन क कउनो क खिलाफ कउनो सिकाइत अहइ तउ अदालत खुली बाटइँ अउर हुवाँ निरनायकन अहइँ। हुवाँ आपुस मँ एक दूसर प नालिस करइँ।

³⁹But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.

³⁹मुला जदि तू एहसे कछू जिआदा जानइ चाहत ह तउ ओकर फैसला नेम स चलइवाली सभा मँ कीन्ह जाइ।

⁴⁰For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning this day’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”

⁴⁰जउन कछू अहइ ओकरे मुताबिक हमका इ बाते क डर हइ कि आज क दंगा क कारण हम प दोख न लगावा जाइ। इ दंगा बरे हमरे लगे कउनो भी कारण नाहीं बाटइ जेहसे हम सबइ ऍका ठीक ठहराइ सकी।”

⁴¹When he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.

⁴¹ऍतना कहे क पाछे उ सभा क बिसर्जित कइ दिहेस।
