¹When it was determined that we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan band.

²Embarking in a ship of Adramyttium, which was about to sail to places on the coast of Asia, we put to sea; Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

²अद्रमुत्तियुम स हम पचे एक जहाजे प सवार भए जउन एसिया क तट क पहँटा स होइके जाइवाला रहा अउर समुद्दर क जात्रा प निकरेन। थिस्सलुनीके बसइया एक मैसीडोनि, जेकर नाउँ अरिस्तर्खुस रहा, भी हमरे संग रहा।

³The next day, we touched at Sidon. Julius treated Paul kindly, and gave him permission to go to his friends and refresh himself.

³अगले दिन हम सैदा मँ उतरे। हुवाँ यूलियुस पौलुस क संग नीक विउहार किहेस अउर मोका ओकरे मीतन स मिलन बरे क अनुमति दइ दीन्ह गइ जेहसे उ ओकर देखभाल कर सकइ।

⁴Putting to sea from there, we sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

⁴हुवाँ स हम समुद्दर-रस्ता स फिन चल पड़ेन। हम पचे साइप्रास क ओटे ओटे चलत रहे काहेकि हवा हमरे खिलाफ बहत रही।

⁵When we had sailed across the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

⁵फिन हम पचे किलिकिया अउर पंफूलिया क समुद्दर क पार करत भए लूसिया क मूरा पहोंचेन

⁶There the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing for Italy, and he put us on board.

⁶हुवाँ फऊजीनायक क सिकन्दरिया क इटली जाइवाला एक ठु जहाज मिला। हम पचे ओह पइ सवार भएऩ।

⁷When we had sailed slowly many days, and had come with difficulty opposite Cnidus, the wind not allowing us further, we sailed under the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone.

⁷कइउ दिन तलक हम पचे धीमे धीमे आगे बढ़त भए बड़ी तकलीफे स कनिदुस क समन्वा पहोंचेन मुला काहेकि हवा आपन राहे प नहीं रहइ देइ चाहत रही, तउ ह सबइ सलभौने क समन्वा ऋीत क ओट मँ ापन नाउ बढ़ावइ लागे।

⁸With difficulty sailing along it we came to a certain place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.

⁸ऋीत क किनारे-किनारे बड़ी तकलीफ स नाउ क अगवा अगवा खेवत भए एक अइसे ठउर प पहोंचेन जेकर नाउ रहा सुरच्छित बंदरगाह। हिआँ स लसया नगर लगे ही रहा।

⁹When much time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous, because the Fast had now already gone by, Paul admonished them,

⁹समइ बहोत बीति चुका रहा अउर नाउ क आगे बढ़ाउब भी संकट स भरा रहा काहेकि तब तलक उपवास क दिन बीत चुका रहा। यह बरे पौलुस चिताउनी देत भए ओनसे कहेस,

¹⁰and said to them, “Sirs, I perceive that the voyage will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.”

¹⁰“अरे मनइयो, मोका लगत ह कि हमार इ सागर जात्रा नास कइ देइ, न सिरिफ माल असबाब अउर जहाजे बरे बल्कि हमरे परान बरे भी।”

¹¹But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things which were spoken by Paul.

¹¹मुला पौलुस जउन कहे रहा ओका सुनइ क सिवाय उ फऊजीनायक, जहाज क मालिक अउर कप्तान क बातन प जिआदा बिसवास करत रहा।

¹²Because the haven was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised going to sea from there, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, and winter there, which is a port of Crete, looking northeast and southeast.

¹²अउर काहेकि उ बन्दरगाह सीत रितु बरे चउचक नाहीं रहा, यह बरे जिआदातर मनइयन, जदि होइ सकइ तउ फीनिक्स पहोंचइ क जतन करने क ही ठान लिहेन। अउर जाड़ा हुवँइ काटइ क निस्चय किहेन। फीनिक्स पहोंचाइ ऋीत क अइसा बन्दरगाह अहइ जेकर मुँह दक्खिन पच्छिम अउर उतर पच्छिम दुइनउँ क समन्वा पड़त ह।

¹³When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, they weighed anchor and sailed along Crete, close to shore.

¹³जब तनिक तनिक दक्खिन हवा बहइ लाग तउ उ पचे सोचेन कि जइसा उ पचे चाहे रहेन, वइसा ही ओनका मिलि गवा अहइ। तउ उ पचे लंगर उठाइ लिहन अउर ऋीत क किनारे किनारे जहाज अगवा खेवइ लागेन।

¹⁴But before long, a stormy wind beat down from shore, which is called Euroclydon. Or, “a northeaster.”

¹⁴मुला अबहिं कउनो जिआदा अहइ नाहीं बीता रहा कि द्वीप क एक कइँती स एक भयानक आँधी उठी अउर आरपार लपेटत चली गइ। इ “उत्तर पूरब” क आँधी कही जात रही।

¹⁵When the ship was caught, and couldn’t face the wind, we gave way to it, and were driven along.

¹⁵जहाह तूफान मँ घिरि गवा। उ आँधी क फाड़िके अगवा नाहीं बढ़ सकत रहा तउ हम पचे ओका यों ही छोड़िके हवा क रूख चलइ दीन्ह।

¹⁶Running under the lee of a small island called Clauda, we were able, with difficulty, to secure the boat.

¹⁶हम क्लोदा नाउँ क एक छोटा स द्वीप क ओटे मँ बहत भए बड़ी तकलीफे स रच्छा नाउ क पाइ सकेन।

¹⁷After they had hoisted it up, they used cables to help reinforce the ship. Fearing that they would run aground on the Syrtis sand bars, they lowered the sea anchor, and so were driven along.

¹⁷फिन जीवन रच्छा-नाउ क उठाए क पाछे जहाज क रस्सा क लपेटि के बाँध दिन्ह गवा अउर कहीं सुरतिस क ऊथल पानी मँ धँस न जाइ, इ डर स उ पचे जहाज क पाल उतारेन अउर जहाज क बहइ दिहेन।

¹⁸As we labored exceedingly with the storm, the next day they began to throw things overboard.

¹⁸दूसरे दिन तूफान क घातक थपेड़ा खात भए उ पचे जहाज स माल-असबाब लोकावइ लागेन।

¹⁹On the third day, they threw out the ship’s tackle with their own hands.

¹⁹अउर तीसर दिन उ पचे आपन ही हाथन स जहाजे प धरा औजार फेंक दिहेन।

²⁰When neither sun nor stars shone on us for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, all hope that we would be saved was now taken away.

²⁰फिन बहोत दिना तलक जब न सूरज देखान, न तारा अउर तूफान आपन घातक थपेड़ा मारत ही रहा तउ हमरे बच पावइ क आसा पूरी तरह खतम होइ गइ।

²¹When they had been long without food, Paul stood up in the middle of them, and said, “Sirs, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete, and have gotten this injury and loss.

²¹बहोत दिना स कउनो कछू खाएउ नाहीं रहा। तब पौलुस ओनकइ बीच खड़ा होइके कहेस, “अरे अमइयो, अगर ऋीत स रवाना न होइके मोर सलाह मान लिहे होत्या तउ तू पचे इ बिनास अउर हानि स बच जात्या।

²²Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.

²²मुला मइँ तोहसे अबहुँ तोहसे हठ करत हउँ कि आपन हिम्मत बाँधे रहा। काहेकि तू सबन मँ स कउनो क प्राण नाहीं खोवइ क अहइ। हाँ, बस इ जहाज क नास होइ जाइ

²³For there stood by me this night an angel, belonging to the God whose I am and whom I serve,

²³काहेकि पछली रात उ परमेस्सर क एक सरगदूत, जेकर मइँ अहउँ अउर जेकर सेवा करत हउँ, मोरे लगे आइके खड़ा भवा।

²⁴saying, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. Behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’

²⁴अउर बोला, ‘पौलुस, जिन डेराअ। मोका निहचय ही कैसर क समन्वा खड़ा होइ क बाटइ अउर ओऩ सबन क अउर तोहरे संग जात्रा करत अहइँ, परमेस्सर तोहका दइ दिहे अहइ।’

²⁵Therefore, sirs, cheer up! For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.

²⁵तउ मनइयन, आपन हिम्मत बनाइ राखा काहेकि परमेस्सर मँ मोर बिसवास अहइ, यह बरे जइसा मोका बतावा ग अहइ ठीक वइसेन घटी।

²⁶But we must run aground on a certain island.”

²⁶किन्तु हम कउनो टापू क ऊथल पानी मँ जरूर जाइ धँसब।”

²⁷But when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven back and forth in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors surmised that they were drawing near to some land.

²⁷फिन जब चउदहवीं रात आइ हम अद्रिया क समुद्दर मँ थपेड़ा खात रहे रहेन तबहिं आधी रातिक लगे जहाज क चालकन क लाग जइसे कउनो किनारा नगिचे अहइ।

²⁸They took soundings, and found twenty fathoms. 20 fathoms = 120 feet = 36.6 meters After a little while, they took soundings again, and found fifteen fathoms. 15 fathoms = 90 feet = 27.4 meters

²⁸उ पचे समुद्दर क गहिराइ नंपेन तउ पाएन कि हुवाँ कउनो अस्सी हाथ गहिराई रही। तनिक बेर क पाछे उ पचे गहराई क फिन टोहेन अउर पा पाएन कि अब गहिराई साठ हाथ रहि गइ रही।

²⁹Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.

²⁹इ डर स कि उ पचे कतहुँ कउनो चट्टानी ऊथल किनारा मँ न फँसि जाइँ, उ सबइ जहाज क पिछले हींसा स चार ठु लंगर बहाएन अउर पराथना करइ लागेन कि कउनो तहर दिन निकरि आवइ।

³⁰As the sailors were trying to flee out of the ship, and had lowered the boat into the sea, pretending that they would lay out anchors from the bow,

³⁰ओहर जहाज क चलावइ वाला जहाज स पराइ क जतन करत रहेन। उ पचे इ हीला बनावत भए कि उ पचे जहाज क अगले हींसा स कछू लंगर बहावइ जात अहइँ, जीवन रच्छा नाउ क समुद्दर मँ उतारि दिहेन।

³¹Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, “Unless these stay in the ship, you can’t be saved.”

³¹तबहिं फऊजीनायक स पौलुस कहेस, “जदि इ सबइ जहाज प नाहीं थामेन तउ तू पचे भी नाहीं बच पउब्या।”

³²Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the boat, and let it fall off.

³²तउ सिपाहियन रस्सा क काटिके जीवन रच्छा नाउ तरखाले गिराइ दिहेन।

³³While the day was coming on, Paul begged them all to take some food, saying, “This day is the fourteenth day that you wait and continue fasting, having taken nothing.

³³भोर होइ स तनिक पहिले पौलुस इ कहत भए सब मनइयन स तनिक खइया खाइके हठ किहेस, “चौदह दिन बीति चुका अहइँ अउर तू पचे लगातर फिकिर क कारण भूखा बाट्या। तू पचे कछू भी नाहीं खाए बाट्या।

³⁴Therefore I beg you to take some food, for this is for your safety; for not a hair will perish from any of your heads.”

³⁴मइँ तोहसे कछू खाइके यह बरे हठ करत अही कि तोहरे जिअइ बरे इ जरुरी अहइ। काहेकि तू पचन मँ स कउनो क मूँड़े क एक बार तलक बाँका नाहीं होइ क बा।”

³⁵When he had said this, and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it, and began to eat.

³⁵ऍतना कहि चुके क पाछे उ तनिक रोटी लिहेस अउर सबन क समन्वा परमेस्सर क धन्यवाद दिहेस। फिर रोटी क तोरेस अउर खाइ लाग।

³⁶Then they all cheered up, and they also took food.

³⁶ऍहसे ओन सबन क हिम्मत बाढ़ी अउर उ सबइ भी थोड़ा स खाना क खाएन।

³⁷In all, we were two hundred seventy-six souls on the ship.

³⁷जहाज प कुल बटोरिके हम सबइ दुइ सौ छिहत्तर मनई रहेन।

³⁸When they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, throwing out the wheat into the sea.

³⁸पूरा खाना खाइ चुकइ क पाछे उ पचे समुद्दर मँ अनाज बहाइके जहाज क हल्का कइ दिहेन।

³⁹When it was day, they didn’t recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.

³⁹जबहिं दिन क प्रकास भवा तउ उ पचे धरती क पहिचान नाहीं पाएन मुला ओनका लाग कि जइसे हुवाँ कउनो किनारा बाली खाड़ी बाटइ। उ पचे तय किहेन कि अगर होइ सकइ तउ जहाज क ठहराइ देइँ।

⁴⁰Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.

⁴⁰तउ उ पचे लंगर काटिके ढील दइ दिहेन अउर ओ सबन क समुद्दर मँ तरखले भहराइ दिहेन। उहइ समइ उ पचे पतवारे स बाँधा रस्सा क ढीला कइ दिहेन, फिन जहाज क अगला पतवार चढ़ाइके किनारे कइँती बढ़इ लागेन।

⁴¹But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. The bow struck and remained immovable, but the stern began to break up by the violence of the waves.

⁴¹अउर ओऩकइ जहाज रेत मँ टकराइ गवा। जहाज क अगला हींसा ओहमाँ फँसिके जाम होइ गवा। अउर सक्तीवाली लहरन क थपेड़न स जहाज क पछिला हींसा टूटइ फाटइ लाग।

⁴²The soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, so that none of them would swim out and escape.

⁴²तब्बहिं सिपाही लोग कैदियन क मारि डावइ क कुचाल रचेन ताकि ओहमाँ स कउनो भी तैरके बच न पावइ।

⁴³But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land;

⁴³मुला फऊजीनायक पौलुस क बचावा चाहत रहा, यह बरे उ ओनका ओनकइ कुचाल क पूर होइ स रोक दिहेस। उ हुकुम दिहेस कि जउन भी तैर सकत हीं, उ पचे पहिले ही किनारे पहोंच जाइँ

⁴⁴and the rest should follow, some on planks, and some on other things from the ship. So it happened that they all escaped safely to the land.

⁴⁴अउर बाकी मनई तख्तम या जहाजे क दूसर टुकड़न क सहारे चला जाइँ। इ तरह हर एक सुरच्छा स किनारे आइ पहोंचा।
